From the first time I went to Gibbs they were very professional explained what I needed what the cost would be did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. Customer service excellent. I won't go anywhere else. I took a vehicle my daughter bought in Friday and the service that i requested as far as the inspection they showed me the wear on the inside of the tire. I've been taking my car to Gibbs over the last couple of years and was initially impressed - great service, reasonable pricing, good workmanship - but it has significantly declined. I had a ball joint replaced a few months ago and they snapped my axle in the process (luckily took accountability and replaced it at no charge). The staff used to be kind and friendly, but now everyone is rude and short with me. The price of labor has sky rocketed. I took my car in today bc the horn wasn't working and was told it would be over $1000 to replace. When I said I couldn't afford it and came to pick it up, they tried to ding me with a diagnostic charge (which they've never done in the past and failed to tell me about up front). When I said this to the girl at the desk, she rolled her eyes at me, ripped the paper up, and slammed a new paper (without a charge) down in front of me. Rude. I won't be going back to Gibbs. Please let me know if theres another mechanic in town that you'd recommend. read more

What an honest bunch of people. I had a no crank, no start the night before. The car was dead at the entrance to the Marriott after a long drive across I-10. Fortunately it started the next morning and I found these guys nearby with good Yelp reviews. They scanned the car and discovered it was telling them the starter was intermittent and the module which controlled it may be going bad. They new their stuff when it came to problem solving this car. When they actually dug into it to replace the starter they discovered the transmission rebuilders forgot to put a nut on the sensor wire controlling the starter module. It was receiving an intermittent signal and indicating a problem which was solved when the connection was repaired. I put a lot of miles on my cars each year and deal with a number of mechanical problems and repair situations and shops. I feel fortunate to find a good shop to help me here should I ever break down in Tucson again. Thank you Gibbs! read more

The Gibbs staff is extremely professional and courteous! I took a camper van I was considering buying to Gibbs for a pre-purchase inspection. (Gibbs was recommended to me by my regular mechanic because they have equipment my mechanic doesn't have for lifting a large van.) When I first called, George was extremely friendly, informative, and accommodating. He scheduled time to look at the van the very next day, and was willing to work with my schedule and offered me a shuttle service. The next day, Dee Dee called me when the technician was half way through the inspection to let me know the van had several major problems and offered to let me speak to the technician to see if I wanted to continue the inspection. The technician, Jarred, took his time to clearly explain what he observed while test driving the van and what problems he found during his initial inspection. It was clear to me that I didn't want to purchase the van and told him not to bother completing the inspection. When I picked the van up, I was only charged half of the amount I was quoted because they stopped the inspection after telling me about the major problems caught early. The full price was already very reasonable considering the amount of time and effort Jarred committed to looking at the van and explaining his findings to me. I appreciate how fairly I was treated, and how much care and communication I was given from George, Dee Dee, and Jarred. They all went far above my expectations! They treated me like an old friend when I was a first-time customer with an inexpensive, one-time service. I will definitely be back and have already recommended Gibbs to friends! read more

When I made it to Gibbs, they had just received the vehicle at 3:30pm, began working and completed before 5pm. Found a relatively minimal defect that had been missed by many; they were kind, responsive and beyond efficient. The cost was minimal as well. They were very informative, never applied pressure, were willing to make calls to my parents in Canada as they know more about automobiles than I do, they lifted my car up in the hoist to see what was needed and did temporary bandaid solutions so that I could drive the car in the short-term and charged me nothing for any of this. Then when they did the service for me, they gave me rides to and from the car rental dealership, as it would have been a 30-plus minute walk each way. My car just needed some inspections in order to honor the warranty, and the mechanics found nothing wrong. Translation: they didn't try to upsell. I can't even tell you how little they charged for the 30-point inspection, and I didn't even have an appointment until the morning of. It's the quietest shop I've ever used, too, and has a relatively comfortable waiting area. The owner is kind and the mechanics with whom I spoke treated me like I was knowledgable about cars - which I am.
