Since when does an employee at a business have the right to say what they think about a paying customer? Especially when it's not true. It was just a nasty jab. Her behavior was precipitated when I tried to explain to her the scene that a non-patient had made in the lobby earlier that day. The daughter of the non-patient, who looked like a member of the Insane Clown Posse, kicked my foot. This brat...I mean little girl told her mom I gave her a nasty look. I explained to her mother that her daughter kicked my foot. Her mother asked her if she said sorry. The little girl started crying. The mother told her daughter that I should've sat back in my seat. This was ridiculous. There was so much room in that office that the girl should not have made any contact with me. The girl started crying, and her mom continued to make a fool out of herself and her daughter. Two of the front desk staff instigated the hostile non-patient by laughing. Not only was I a patient, but the rest of my family was as well. Having to endure the behavior of that belligerent woman, who wasn't even a patient, was just the beginning. The office manager stated she does not make excuses for her staff's behavior, but that's all she did. I told the office manager that my family would not be back. The office manager and Shehata proceeded to tell me that I should think about it and not make a rash decision. Who the heck do they think they are? They couldn't care less about my family. My family did not need a payment plan. We paid in full. So SouthShore Orthodontics can keep the one unstable non-patient and lose three others because we have found a better and more professional orthodontist's office. I changed my star rating for SouthShore Orthodontics from 1 star to 5 stars only because of Dr. Ahrens. He swooped in with professionalism and kindness. If my family only worked with Dr. Ahrens, we would still be patients at SouthShore Orthodontics. Although the paperwork I requested was incomplete, I was happy to receive something. If it wasn't for Dr. Ahrens, nothing would have happened.

Started off with the staff spending about 30 minutes trying to verify my insurance. It was pretty simple, Delta Dental through my wife's policy. I sat in the waiting room until they were able to sort it out. Then I am taken back for my cleaning where I am told that I am due for x-rays. I am then told it will be $65 for an additional panoramic x-ray because they do not have one and insurance does not cover it. I just had this done not too long ago in CA. I was then told if I did not say OK to it then they could not clean my teeth. I asked if they could get it from my previous dentist's office and she said they could, but we already have wasted 25 minutes of my appointment looking up my insurance. I was also told Flouride for the cleaning would be an additional $25 but that was optional. I felt like I was buying a car verses getting my teeth cleaned. I picked up my phone and got out of the chair and went to the front desk. Where I let the staff know that I have never been to a dentist like this and my wife and I would be going somewhere else. I would not reccomend this place to anynone, not even to have my dog's teethe cleaned. Sorry but true!

We loved this office till we asked for another treatment option, Our family dose not do crowns (…read moreputting metal in the kids mouses) especially on the baby teeth, we asked for the tooth to be removed instead, however, we met with resistance, our treatment plan also included an permanent molar that had a deep cavity, that we asked to be treated first since it is an adult tooth and is a priority over the baby tooth, however, we were also advised that that one should be treated only after the crown is installed. We were given no other options despite trying to work with the office and dentist to come up with the alternative treatment plan that is less aggressive and required no crown on baby teeth and prioritizes the health of permanent teeth, however we were told this is the way or go somewhere else! And we are so glad we did went to another provider! On top of not being accommodating to create an alternative treatment plan, SmileLYNN is really bad with their finances (Another big stink in my book) : they required a deposit prior the appointment and after trying to work out a treatment option, we were told to go somewhere else, we had to cancel the appointment but were promised that deposit will be returned, however, two moth later its still has not been refunded, I had to call and remind them that needs to be returned. Despite how nice the staff is and all the positive reviews here, I DO NOT RECOMEND This practice, if you are looking for more options and less aggressive pediatric dentistry there are other dentist out there who will sight with parents and still propose a great treatment plan.

It's the day before my appointment and I get a call from the receptionist, saying that they have to reschedule because of a storm. They won't be able to see me now for more than a month out. This is because they only have one dentist and she's only in the office a couple days a week because she has kids. I have not personally met Dr. Stubbs, so I can't speak negatively about him directly. However,…read moreduring the short period of about five months that my son was a patient, most of our interactions were with the staff who handled the tightening and adjustments of his braces, and those ladies were very kind and sweet. My one-star review is solely based on a very unpleasant experience with the office manager who handles billing. Back in October, she and I had a conversation about getting my son back in for treatment due to some unfortunate personal circumstances. She informed me that I could not schedule an appointment unless I made an upfront payment, which I was not comfortable doing at the time. I decided to wait a few months until I was more financially stable. This was especially disappointing because I had previously been told that my other son would need braces about six months from our last visit. Fast forward to January 2026: I called the office with the intention of scheduling both of my sons together--one who had previously been a patient and one who had never been a patient--for orthodontic treatment. Before I was even given the opportunity to explain my plan or discuss any payment options, the office manager immediately brought up my first son's account and refused to schedule either child. She specifically stated, "If you didn't uphold your payments for one son, how can we trust you to pay for the other son's treatment?" She continuously talked over me and did not allow me time to explain my intentions or discuss payment arrangements. She then claimed that I owed over $2,000 for services my son never received and stated that I would need to pay over $400 toward that balance before she would even consider scheduling my other son, who had never been a patient. I expressed that I did not agree with how the office was handling this situation and felt we were being treated unfairly, especially since services were never rendered. This interaction felt more like a money grab than patient care. When I voiced my concerns, she attempted to intimidate me by repeatedly referencing the contract I signed, stating that payment was required whether or not my son attended appointments. She also claimed that all orthodontic offices operate this way, which I know is untrue. My entire family has had braces, and before moving to the Tampa Bay area, my son attended a dental office that never charged for services that were not provided. My advice to anyone considering this office: please read your contract carefully. I never expected to be in a situation where life circumstances would interfere with my ability to bring my son to appointments, but the moment that happened, I was treated poorly and made to feel like a criminal rather than a parent trying to do the right thing for her children. Both of my sons are now patients at a different orthodontic office one that values families, communicates respectfully, and does not penalize patients for services that were never received.
