The first sub was awesome, the second not so much but hey, everyone has bad days right? Yeah nope tonights was terrible was told there was no roast beef and clearly turkey must have been low because it was hard to find on the sub as was the Muenster cheese of ONE slice...... seriously? I found this place due to a Facebook post in a group that said Hess had the best Italian combos in Orange County. I love Italian combos so I knew I had to take the ride and try them out. First off, parking really wasn't that great and They have a minimum of $10 for credit cards. In this day and she there shouldn't be any limit because who really carries cash these days? My friend and I had to pay together because neither of us had cash to pay separate. I will say the place was busy. The Italian combo was good but I probably wouldn't take the trip back. They aren't consistent whatsoever. Chicken salad wrap is sometimes just chopped with watery sauce and other times shredded and creamy! which is what i expect.. when i ask for something to be left out or added into my sandwich, i expect it to be the way i asked. read more

I just had the homemade broccoli soup. It was just great. Hot and creamy, a good portion 4.50$ big chunks of broccoli in the soup!!! Served with crackers. They get hard rolls from Defilips in Middletown, so I get a hard roll. It was great. I eat there often great 9oct2019 Chili is really fresh and good.pictured below! Not what it used to be. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Complete waste of money. Barely any meat in any of their sandwiches, and I'm not expecting a ridiculous amount either. But, I wouldn't mind for there to actually be a piece of ham when I take a bit out of my "Italian Sub". I used to go there pretty often. One time I got a METAL HOOK in my sub (not joking). I could have at the least cracked a tooth and at the worst tore a hole in my intestines. This was a big, solid, about one inch long steel hook. I returned it to the store, spoke with the manager (maybe assistant manager?) and they were so completely flippant it was unreal. I actually went in there with the attitude of trying to WARN them, not to be a jerk and give people a hard time .. so that whatever happened to me wouldn't happen to someone else, because let's be honest, I got lucky. That hook was in MY MOUTH. DIDN'T EVEN OFFER ME A REFUND! I SWEAR! Barely even an apology! "You want us to make you another one?" Really? I don't know! Can you maybe pass a metal detector over it first?! If that happened at a restaurant I ran (I'm a Chef), not only would I be deeply grateful for the guest warning me, and for being so understanding (and in my mind I'd be thinking 'and not trying to sue the pants off of me') .. but of course I'm giving you a free sub for your trouble! Sorry about almost killing you with a SANDWICH! Here's a $20 gift card! Please come back and give us the chance to serve you better in the future! But these people are just arrogant. I guess in this tiny town, there really aren't many choices when it comes to deli's, and Hess' let that be known loud and clear with their disdain towards customers (I had to speak to the store owner TWICE, because they REFUSED to put prices in front of their salads, so you had no idea what anything cost. That's illegal), their overpriced food, and their general "take it or leave it" attitude. I see a lot of posts here talking about their minimum purchase "requirement" to use a debit card too, and for a fact that is a violation of their merchant agreement with the credit card companies. Call Visa, Mastercard, or whatever company is behind the logo that is on the debit card you use, and tell them what they are doing and if enough people call, then they will step in & tell them to stop doing it or revoke their ability to accept the card at all. DB Mart pulled the same thing. Two phone calls from me later and that "minimum purchase requirement" is GONE. read more

Twice a year when I'm on my way up to a friends house in Glen Spey I look forward to stopping in here for their Italian sub with everything. They do not skimp on the ingredients. It's a very filling sandwich. The women working behind the counter are a pleasure to deal with and very friendly. The interior of the shop has a funky old time feel about it. Sorry to say after a lifetime of getting subs here we got a couple with about 2 slices of meat. Disappointing is an understatement.

Also ordered some macaroni, cucumber, and tomato/mozzarella salads with our subs.
