I don't even remember how many years ... I like to make an experience out of it because the ride in it is just so beautiful through the black dirt region... I've been coming here since my family moved into the area when I was 11 in 1991. At the time this was the only Polish deli and it was very good; however, since then other Polish or Eastern European delis have opened nearby and I've noticed things like the kielbasa wasn't as good as the new places etc. Since covid, however, things have changed a lot. During covid everything was vacuum packed and you couldn't get items fresh. A lot of items were also only available frozen. Okay I get it Covid, but they kept doing it after the main pandemic, so I didn't go for awhile. So I went a few days ago and saw that items were displayed as fresh and got excited only to realize the kielbasa and cabanossi didn't look super fresh even though it was displayed as fresh. But I wanted to give it a try so I got some cabanossi and after eating it realized it'd either been previously vacuum packed or vacuum packed and defrosted because it was chewy and fresh smoked sausage always has that nice crunch when you bite into it. I've been eating this stuff since I was toddler in a family of people who immigrated from Poland, so I know fresh from old. They also got rid of their tables for people to eat lunch in there. I just kinda feel like they don't care anymore and there are so many other better options in the area now, so I have no need to come here anymore and that makes me sad, this store used to be the original, the place to go, but it's just not that good anymore. read more

Service is with a smile always. I go there mainly for the Liverwurst. I have never had such fresh tasting Liverwurst ever. I usually buy 8 slices for $1.52 (imagine?) and it doesn't leave an after taste and I don't have to burp all day after eating it. I just love it. There is no other Liverwurst that I have found to even come close. I don't even get a chance to make a sandwich out of it, I just keep eating one slice after another. Thank you Quaker Creek Store. Even though it was curbside pick up , it was so worth the 25 minute drive . Very nice people and delicious food. I would definitely suggest getting the kielbasa and egg on a roll . My husband would always go to this place before going into work and he would always rave about the sandwiches and how delicious the polish food is. Hubby found this place after watching an Anthony Bourdain No Reservations episode on the Hudson Valley. **RIP Anthony!!!** Quickly became enamored by the food being displayed on the screen. He's a self proclaimed slore for all meat in tube form and went googly eyed for their sausages. You know the ones you can't rightfully pronounce; kielbasy, bratwursts and knackwursts. What got me? Their potato and onion pierogies. I think we all know what a Mrs.T perogi tastes like and it had been a while since I'd had a good one. However, nothing will prepare you for the sheer mouth watering delectableness coming out of this 'store'. We went 2x in the span of 24hrs and I'm planning to go back again next month. What's the big deal you ask? The portions are huge, the ingredients fresh, the flavor on point. Mind you, this was my 1st time having real Polish food made by a family doing this since 1947. Their pierogies, sausages, stuffed cabbage all tasted of high quality. I cannot recommend that you stop by here enough. We stopped on our way to Warwick Winery and it's the perfect stop for lunch on your way to or from there. Everything we tried and I'm even talking about the cold cuts (*chef's kiss* on their roasted turkey and smoked ham), tasted like it was made with love and care and just for me. Oh and note that due to COVID they're only allowing pick up. Which you can drive to the store and order outside. All I can only honestly say what the f*** was I waiting for!? A friend has been after me for years to try this place. It's not on my usual route but I do visit the black dirt region a handful of times a year. The Wallkill NWR is right down the road and when rare birds are around, I make my way to the scenic area. For several weeks, a Roaeate Spoonbill has been in the Wallkill so my son and I took a hike on the Liberty Loop trail and saw it. We finished our hike around lunchtime so we set the GPS to Goshen amd the Pulaski Highway. Sausages and smoked meats, made with care is the name of the game at Quaker. My son and I had the same thing. A platter of smoked kielbasi and cajun andouille. Home fries and a good mustard. We were sad to finish but all good meals end eventually. We did pick up plenty of treats to grill up at home. I owe my friend a beer or three for turning me on to this gem. read more

I lived in Eastern Europe for a number or years and happen to like the smoked meats and provision. After reading the rave reviews about Quaker Creek deli my son and I decided to stop in on our way up to Sullivan county. Entering the deli you'll see a display case with some Ham's, kielbasa's and other meats. I ordered 1 kielbasa, 1 lb ham, 1 kobanos (their spelling of kobanos is off the wall, with a 'C') and some salads (cucumber, coleslaw, potato). Finally the family was going to have lunch. We prepped the kielbasa, kobanos & ham, salads and made sandwiches. The first bite and the only taste in your mouth was SALT, no spices, nothing but SALT. The sandwiches went the Hefty way. To the local deli for Boarshead. The salads were seasoned OK hence the 2 stars, for the smoked meats 0 stars. I'm a smoked meats (cold cut)) connoisseur, I love the stuff - headcheese, liverwurst, blood sausage..., this is not one smoke house/deli I would recommend for Euro cold cuts. If you want decent cold cuts go to the following: In Orange county go to JJ deli in Port Jervis, in Ulster County go European deli in Ellenville, Piast meats and provisions in NJ (5 locations), Golden Eagle deli Lanza Ave, Garfield, in Westchester go to Yonkers Miasarnia (butcher), Polish deli, in Manhattan go to East Village Meat Market (2nd Ave between 8th & 9th St), Astoria can't remember the name on Broadway in the 34 to 38 street block and then there is also Greenpoint Brooklyn - little Warsaw. Good things come to those who randomly stumble into a store in the middle of Black Dirt country. I stopped here on a drive through Pine Island one day after visiting a client for work and it's been gluttony heaven ever since. First things first, if you ever see the LAMB GYRO on the menu, order like 5 of them. Thank me later (and wear sweatpants) In all seriousness, this is a cute, quaint store on Pulaski Highway in Pine Island. There's a nice older woman wearing an apron at the counter and a bounty of other employees there to help you as well. It is half convenience store, half cafe, toss a little deli action in there and you have Quaker Creek. They have an assortment of on-site made meats and sides. They offer daily meal specials that range from Polish, Italian, Mexican, Greek and American; everything is delicious. EVERYTHING. They make their dressings themselves, the sides, they cure their own meat, it's wonderful! Most recently I had their corned beef special with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and soda bread. I almost lost a finger eating so fast. It was better than anything my Grandmother ever made and she was right off the boat from Galway. I'll continue to expand my waistline and this Mom and Pop shop and love every single morsel. read more

I'm disturbed that we had to clean off our own table. I was ready to come in and eat and buy food for home. I looked around and didn't want to sit down since all the tables were filthy. It wasn't busy and to me, if people are getting up to leave and we ordered our food to stay, they could have gone to check the tables. The place had an old school country store local vibe where I can tell it's been there a while and they have a hardcore group of regulars so things wind up being overlooked and accepted. I ordered the platter that came with Pirogies, stuffed cabbage and kielbasa with cabbage and also a deviled egg on the side. The pirogies were undercooked and hard, the stuffed cabbage was cafeteria quality and the deviled egg was just ok. The kielbasa was good, but at that point I think I was just happy anything was passable. My husband got the kielbasa sandwich, which was drowned in mustard when he got it, so he couldn't enjoy the flavor of the kielbasa. He ordered a side of pirogies and his were far better than mine. I don't know if they over crowded the pan they cooked it in and I got the ones that didn't hit the pan? Who knows. I didn't want to take any of it home since I wound up leaving so much on my plate. The bill was $30 something plus we left a tip anyway. I will say once I was seen with my camera to take a photo of our food, the tables were immediately attended to and cleaned off. I think the person that brought our food may have been the owner, who was really nice, but after hearing the hype, we had higher expectations. read more

Last holiday season my brother served pierogi and ham that he purchased from Quaker Creek Store- everything was delicious and I had to know where he got the items from. He explained he makes the hour+ drive to shop at Quaker Creek several times a year. Fast forward to this years pandemic holiday season - I wanted our immediate family to enjoy those pierogis! I called and spoke with Bobby and was immediately impressed with his professionalism and sincerity. I wasn't sure if the pierogis could be shipped to me but was pleasantly surprised to learn that was possible. Bobby took the time to answer all my questions regarding the menu items and shipping details. The pierogis arrived the next day - still frozen as promised and in a very sturdy shipping container. The absolute best for all meat products. My Father was French, but grew up near Alsace. A well known dish there is Choucrote made with smoked meats and Sauerkraut. It was always a problem finding anyone that smoked meats properly. Quaker Creek doe's it the best, and they have the finest steaks, roasts and smoked hams that always get great reviews form guests. Quaker Creek is an institution in the Black Dirt! 15 years ago I spent a couple summers working in the area and used to often order breakfast sandwiches, sausages, chorizo, and whole muscle beef jerky. It had been over 10 years since I've been back, but I wanted to pay them a visit on my way to upstate New York. I called a week ahead and ordered s smattering of pierogies, sausages, jerky, and bacon. We timed our visit to overlap with lunch and I was so looking forward to having lunch there again. I ordered the Polish Platter ($14) - kielbasa, pierogies, sauerkraut, and a stuffed cabbage. I ate it all and wished I had more! My boyfriend had the German Platter ($14) - 2 different sausages, potato pancake, cabbage. The cabbage was AMAZING and both of our favorite item. $14 isn't cheap for a lunch meal, but it was a real treat and nostalgic. The store itself was hopping! This wonderful food store has had our business for 3 , soon to be 4, generations. This family run store is into its 4th generation also. The quality of their Polish foods has never lagged. A word of advice is that it can be quite busy near Easter for take home. The meats, especially the keibasi, is every bit the equal of the best Wallington, NJ has to offer. Although this place doubles as a Deli, the reason people flock to the Quaker Creek Store in the middle of the Pine Island Black Dirt is for the home made meats and sausages. The owner, Bob Matuszewski is a CIA trained chef and he puts his skills to work making various types of gourmet sausage. His meats have been featured on the Food Network with Bobby Flay. There are soooo many awesome meats to choose from it makes it difficult to decide what to get. On our most recent trip we picked up some Italian Sausage with Mozz, Basil and Tomato, some fresh Beef Jerky (which he also makes) and also some of his home made hotdogs (Original & Jalapeno and Cheddar) which are also pretty delightful. He actually talked me out of purchasing more meat by telling me to buy only what we planned on eating soon as they don't use preservatives in their meat. I'm grilling up the Italian Sausage as we type... If you love meat as much as I do ;-) this place is definitely worth the trip. They'll even pack your meat in some ice for you if your driving a distance and not going to be able to refrigerate your purchases in short order. read more

You got farmers with bikers and bankers mixed at a communal table for a delightful and eclectic blended conversation and comradeship. Now, the food is also as homey and tasty as it gets. try everything! It's all fresh and home made wholesome honest real food. I tried the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw on grilled rye. I also tried the Polish platter with stuffed cabbage, pirogi with onions and kielbasi with sauerkraut, it was better than great. I also tried the hot dog, excellent and the jerky and spicy sausage. Very good place for breakfast/brunch. You can order a rib steak and have them sear it for you, served with a great steak sauce. The polish platter is also very impressive. I'm very impressed with their meat products. Good sausages, good salad (I recommend their potato salad), you can order any parts of a pig and they will prepare it well for you, we had pig ears last time and we were happy that they were able to prepare some for us.
