Burgers, chicken, fries, macaroni and cheese, ice cream, plus so much more. They also try to keep it interesting by creating unique sandwiches, wraps and desserts. It is not a fancy place. It is definitely a family type restaurant with an extensive menu. This place can get busy and everything is cooked to order. I usually order a mushroom, cheeseburger with french fries or tater tots. For me I personally feel that they offer the largest ice cream selection in the area with so many flavors and the best thing is that it is available all season long. First off I love Ben Fresh! Just not the wait. I have had this situation arise more than a few times. I totally understand that everything is homemade to order, that's fantastic. But if I order ice cream should I wait 20 minutes? The girls upfront are taking orders and manning the phones, but never can push things through that are easy peasy? Ice cream/ice cream parlor. So I was here once about 5 years ago and thought the burger was very good fresh and smashed like a shake shack burger . Came back twice in the past couple of weeks . Completely different these are terrible dry flavorless burgers pre maid probably frozen from some food service company like maybe restaurant depot . So I've been in the Port Jervis City quite a bit lately. I always hear of Bens Fresh and today I decided to stop in for a takeout order. Service was very friendly and welcoming. The menu will blow you away. I was literally starving and wanting to try it all. One things for sure, they're very versatile. You'll probably never see some of the meals and shakes they make here, anywhere else. The ambiance seemed casual with plenty of seating but I had to drive back down to Brooklyn so my order was to go. Now......Let's get to it!! I was hangry because I skipped breakfast and I really wanted something heavy and filling. I decided on the Chicken Bacon Alfredo wrap. Have mercy on my soul, this was the best and beastliest wrap I've ever had in my entire life. It was delicious and far beyond what I can consume. I actually had a few good big bites and saved the rest for my kids at home which was plenty. I'm seriously not kidding. It's pasta, bacon and chicken with loads of cheese. It's just so delicious and unique. I've never seen anything like that before (In a good way) I also ordered little Mac n cheese bites and the hot dog combo. The ice cream is out of this world so good and creative. I wasn't sure what to expect with it being parfait. I thought it was yogurt or gelato but it's just all this deliciousness in one huge cup. The menu is large enough so that no matter your diet you can find something but also not too big where they can't master what they have. One friend who got a burger said since she had been in New York she has not had a satisfying burger yet but this spot did it ! My chicken wrap was delicious and my husband got a wrap with shredded steak and crab rangon which he loved. Only thing was it was wrapped wrong- you got all the crab rangon then all steak that's my only tip :). Was passing by and saw some good reviews for a local place, gave it a shot. Was pretty busy already and it was just past 11, which is always a good sign. Menu is impressive, lots to choose from, and it took me a minute to get my bearings on it. At first I thought the girls behind the counter were pretty ambivalent about their job, but realized they were just giving me space to actually try and take it all in. Got a chicken sandwich that had the hand breaded tenders on it, and they were super fresh and juicy. On a great roll, and came with a generous portion of fries. Was watching other food coming out and was very jealous of other plates, but alas had no more room. Best part was that the prices were all incredibly reasonable. This place always has super cool new items but does not directly communicate when those items are available or for how long. The menu is posted on the wall, there is no paper menus when you get there or on the website so it's impossible to order To Go since you don't actually know what's on the menu. The girls at the counter are AWFUL. It's loud in there most times so you have to keep repeating yourself. The girls will forget parts of your order which is super frustrating. They are also super unhelpful with menu choices and actually said they "weren't sure" when asking if a special was available. It's more of a to go place so people are standing all over the inside of the restaurant and outside. Overall, it's incredibly disorganized from the menu to actually ordering, food coming out at different times. They could benefit from some organization starting with the menus and what is available on each day. The food is generally pretty good but not worth the hassle especially if you're driving 20-30 minutes. read more

I've dined her a few times over the years. The food is average, the ice cream is better. Overall pricey for what you get. Most recently I got a chili dog which was decent. The chili's a little spicy and tasty, if liquidy. I would recommend that if you get the fries with toppings that you ask for them on the side. I got the disco fries and they were absolutely saturated with white gravy and liquid cheese, resulting in a soggygoopy mess which unfortunately was quite unappetizing. And P.S. to the owners response, while a response is appreciated, I did not address the soggy fries with staff because I would have had to wait in a lengthy line again, after already having to do so to deal with a incorrect drink having been given to me. At that point I was frustrated and not ready to deal with the line AGAIN to ask for new fries. I would also recommend that real shredded cheese be used on the fries rather than liquid as the combo of liquid cheese and gravy pretty much guarantees soggy fries. read more

Ben's Fesh, ...a hidden jewel on the banks of the Deleware River. On one of my recent excursions out of NYS to Free America, I came across this island of caloric delight in the town of Port Jervis NY. It was Saturday, hot and humid, around 1:30 PM when I stopped for a bite. My name is Jacob, I'm a yelper and carry a fork. The sun was so bright that day that a dead man could get a tan in his grave. I first noticed the crowd of patrons, ...most overweight and close to my age which could only mean good cheap food. I decided to wait a bit, killing time at an antique store until the crowd died down. I'm one of those Americans that detest waiting in line, ...for anything. When I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn the only people in the world who waited in lines were people outside concerts, athletic events, third-world nation food lines, and communist countries, ...for just about everything. Ben's Fresh staff must have been working feverishly inside, the line went from massive to nothing in less than 15 minutes. Upon entering the location I was greeted by a massive selection of ice cream choices and various food dishes. I ordered the double burger, with fries and a Root Beer float with soft-serve ice cream. Thank God my cardiologist or my wife wasn't around or NO WAY would I be ordering this. But since I know that I'm never really alone, I had Jesus by my side to share my lunch with. I figured that if he was going to use this burger and flote to close my arteries, then so be his will. I don't even remember inhaling the Root Beer float, it went down faster than my 401K after the election of 2020, and my hopes for a bright future. What I do remember is the massive brain freeze that slammed into my forehead within seconds. After recovering my balance I attacked the burger-a-saurus. Man, this thing was an absolutely magnificent work of art, and the fresh cut fries... holy Fry-noly Batman, ...just OUTSTANDING! . The cheese, the bun, the two thin patties perfectly cooked, and the lettuce all married together culminating in a most delightful experience. Eating this burger was almost, ...nay... I must say it was an exhilarating experience. My heart was all a flutter, growing with anticipation for the next bite. Over the course of consuming this delight, I grew somewhat disparaged, knowing how good this was, and how much I liked it, ...surely if the NYS Governor or the Vega'nazi's finds out about this place it will be protested shut or closed down by the Nanny State Government 'for everyone's own safety,' meat eaters, happiness and freedom will not be tolerated in NYS! As if I wasn't gluttonous enough with the Root Beer float, burger and fries, I did the unspeakable, I went for dessert. Oh yeah, Banana Split with three flavors of Perry's ice cream. This sublime item came before me as hoped, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream begging to be consumed by a lover of... well just about everything. They slept so enticingly, softly nestled between a sliced banana, bathed in syrup and whipped cream, ...oh the humanity! Just recalling this is so tempting that I will be heading back the 30 miles after dinner tonight for dessert, but this time with my wife. I could never keep anything from her, especially since she is just as much a food-oholic as am I. The odd thing about her is that she can still fit into her size 6 wedding dress, two children and 38 years later, never dieted a single day, never exercised a single moment, and spends every day in the kitchen making everything from scratch. Me... my mind couldn't fit into my size 40R wedding suit, let alone any part of my body. I look at a candy bar and I go up one belt size. All kidding aside, if you're ever fleeing NYS via I-84 west, or just passing through, take the last exit, or first if heading East, into or out of NYS getting off at Port Jarvis. FRESH!! That's our takeaway!! The menu is extensive and tastefully imaginative. The service and staff were polite, professional, and efficient. The customer flow never stopped, and at times, the line went to the doors, whether to go or dine in. And despite this steady flow, the staff never missed a beat. They were clearly accustomed to this and worked well together. From the front end to the kitchen. They have it together. We sat and noticed how clean everything was. The floor, restrooms, counter, and what I could see behind it. Most tables were full, but empty were all clean. In less than 10 minutes, we had our shakes and burgers. They look wonderful. Just looking at it was a good thing. Nice presentation. But that first bite said it all! FRESH! And it clearly shows and tastes. What a great burger! Fresh vegetables, fresh bun, and fresh meat.
