Once you chop down your prize, you can drag it back to base Griswold style or Bailey's friendly staff will throw it on a cart and drive it back for you. Back at camp they will shake it and wrap it, then you are on your way. After years of lame store bought threes the week before Christmas, it was time to enter the wild and start a new family tradition. Bailey's is worth the trip from anywhere in the Capital Region and Southern Vermont.

The tree prices are always higher than I would ever want to pay, but we go for the experience, so I factor that into the cost. But the experience this year was not worth it. This year they had problems with some of the equipment breaking so it held us up for awhile. That was frustrating with little kids, but stuff happens and that was understandable. What is not understandable is when the trolly does finally bring us back to the entrance, there was a woman yelling at us to stay on the trolly when we got off to see Santa parachute from the plane. We explained the kids just want to see Santa parachute from the plane, and she gave us a rude response and said we should have gone to the other part of the farm instead. She looked like she was the manager of the operation, so I was surprised at how unprofessional her response and behavior were. Once the trolley unloaded the trees, there was no place for all of us to stand to wait for our tree number to be called. Then they yelled at everyone for standing partially in the road where the trolleys are. I had a baby in a stroller and it was very chaotic trying to stay out of the road, listen for my number to be called, and keep my baby from being knocked over by the trees that were being swung around that we had to stand so close to. Once the other trolleys came, they unloaded those trees on top of our trees. It took forever! I almost said just forget it, let's leave. It was a circus. The holidays are stressful enough. I don't think we will be buying our trees there next year. Side note: the guy helping us with the tree was super nice.

All of the trees under 11' were $50 and they were all beautifully shaped. We ended up with an incredibly fragrant Balsam fir. We cut it down and they stopped and picked it up from us with a cart, no dragging the tree through the mud to the car. And an added plus, they wrap the tree so it's easy to get in the car and bring it home. We also picked up some incredibly well priced maple syrup from the farm down the road.

Colourful annuals fit for the spring were aplenty both in the front and the back of the store, and we found plants here that we hadn't seen at any other major garden centre in the Capital Region so far. Maiden grass was the awesome find on the most recent visit, and the staff at checkout answered our questions about plant care which was very helpful. The prices appear to be competitive, as we found both lower, equivalent, and higher prices compared to several garden centres in the area. Parking here has not been an issue and they have their own parking lot, and we appreciated they were open till 7pm when some other stores were closed. I hope they stay open for a long time.
