Driving across what the locals call North Country on my way to my campsite for the night, I stopped here for beer, wifi and dinner. Hex & Hop was a very pleasant stop with great friendly service and a few chats with some of the locals. They had loud live music which I didn't care for, but other sure did. A few rousing sounds including Sweet Caroline, Country Roads and even The Star Spangled Banner got my fellow beer drinkers to participate. So it's not all about me. I tried the hefeweizen and didn't care for it but the Smitty Pils was excellent. I consumed two of those with the day's special pizza "Put A Pep In Your Step." The beers were great, sitting at the bar was great, the pizza was great (and has leftovers!) and my only ding was the loud live music. We made it to Hex&Hop just for their fresh pizzas. Tried some samples and ended with their fruity sour and the coffee forward ale. Yummy pizza, good ale, outdoor love music, lots of board games and great staff all made up for an amazing experience. Highly recommend this place. read more

I wished I liked Hex & Hop more than I did but unfortunately I just wasn't all that win over with the beer I had. Steve had some of it too and he felt about the same. We felt like it didn't have that extra "kick" meaning we just didn't care for the layout for the flavor profile. Carbonation was fine and it didn't taste too watered down but alas we didn't leave excited with the beer we had. What we had was the Canoodler which was a wheat beer with flavors of citrus, lemon and some sourness. It was very sessionable and light bodied but that didn't really motivate us to drink more of it. Kind of disappointed with it as Hex & Hop was on my list of my "to try" breweries for a bit. read more

For starters the yelp directions take to the barn where they brew the beer. The brewery is off main St in Bloomingdale. Once we found the place we enjoyed our beers and ended up taking a pizza home for dinner. We didn't get to the pizza for a couple hours , reheated perfectly. The sauce full of flavor with nice crunch of the crust. I highly recommend both their beers and pizza! read more

We stopped here after we visited whiteface mountain. My parents and I really enjoyed it here. They have an easily accessible parking lot. We came on a Friday evening and they had a nice outdoor area with a fire and live music. Everyone was friendly and we were allowed to bring our dog. The food kitchen did close a little around ~6 I believe. We were able to order some beers and get some food luckily. The food was pretty good for a limited menu. We got grilled cheeses that were warm and cheesy. Overall, we had a lovely time here and would stop by again! read more

Hey hey Adventurers it's FriYay! I was really glad I got to try this place out because the beer selection looked really good. I tried a few different beers but settled on the CSP Mocha Stout which is my go to when I'm at breweries. I really enjoyed the taste of this, not hoppy at all (though don't quote me I'm not a beer connoisseur I just know what I like). It was smooth and the perfect balance of coffee and cholocatey. I did sample the Whole Hive Braggot but it was not at all my style of beer. I also tried the Wildcat cider, but hard pass for me, I think I've moved past my cider days. I tried the Grendel as well but I stuck with my favorite type---chocolate and coffee. McKayla was so awesome, she really explained the types and helped me try newer styles of beer. Absolutely wonderful at talking me into trying so much food too, LOL. While I was there I tried a variety of foods: tomato soup (tasty), pork taco (amazing), soft beer pretzels (so so good), and the piece de resistance was the grilled cheese with pesto. The pesto was optional but I'm telling you, just do it. This place is pretty big inside, really cute bathrooms (honey bee decor), and the tables are like a German Biergarten--picnic tables free grab for all. During the warmer months this place must be absolutely hopping. They're dog friendly but only for outside, which is great because I usually travel with my little Sully. Highly recommend taking the drive here if you're in the Paul Smith's area. read more

Low key spot, with a good amount of tables outdoors. Bought two beers and sampled a third all were good. Our favorite was Bob Ross Pale Ale. Great name great beer. In a picturesque area and a nice drive if you are in the area. read more

This is the best brewery in the Tri lakes area. Great laid back atmosphere. Nice menu of pizza, nachos, snacks etc. Most importantly the beer is the star of the show here. While other breweries in the region seem to have beer as an afterthought, not the case here. Makes sense, right? read more

On the drive to the brewery (we had their beers previously so we were going no matter what) we read "menu sf limited, but good". And you know... That really sums it up. The menu was limited, but we found sustenance we thoroughly enjoyed! The cute shark (awesome name) had honey ham, salami, cheeses, & olives... I wish they added some of their honey, that would be a game changer. Wife got the chicken chipotle soup, and the pesto grilled cheese (which was the clear winner). It wasn't greasy which can be impressive for a grilled cheese let alone adding pesto to the mix. The staff was very knowledgeable and super friendly and helpful. They answered every question and took really good care of us the whole time. Music playlist was on point, Tom Petty, Queen, and some other classics. Active bee hive inside where you can watch the ladies work to turn pollen into beautiful, delicious honey. They had a little nook with books, games and crayons for those who want to hang out for awhile. So cool! Outside they had a mini stage and plenty of seating, I'm sure they have live music! After being snowed in and housebound for a few days, I decided to take a short ride to Hex & Hops for a quick visit. I was the first customer of the day. The co-owner, Ethan was tending the then empty bar. Snow flurries were in the air. I ordered a No BH IPA, which I totally enjoyed. Others began to arrive. Soon the bar was filled. I ordered the soup du jour. It was a very delightful pork chili. Despite its relatively "out of the way" location, I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique brewpub. One owner is the brewmaster and the other is a beekeeper. The beers reflect this blend of mixtures. The food menu is small. I noticed the French Bread Pizza and the Kate Mountain Farm Turnover. The space is open and bright. There is outdoor seating available but don't brush the snow off your table. Wait until June. read more

This is a great "off the beaten path" find in the ADK. Great beer with complex flavors and a really diverse selection for only being open for a couple months. Great atmosphere with very cool interior and good outdoor seating area. I recommend this place to anybody. read more

Every single beer on tap was amazing! Not your typical bitter IPA's all smooth flavorful finishes. Must be made with some of the local honey they sell here as well. Ownership and staff are extremely friendly and personable. Along with the great beers, their food although limited menu is off the charts good! The French bread pizzas and turn overs are sublime. This BX kid hopes that Hex & Hops is coming to a store near him in the near future. If you are in the area it is a definite must see. read more

We were out today doing the Norman Ridge Road - Franklin Falls loop from Saranac Lake and decided on the way back in to stop at Hex and Hop. We did not have a lot of time, but sampled the No BH IPA. The beer was good, kind of cloudy but not overly hopped or too heavy. The physical space is nice, with a bar and some picnic tables and for 2:45PM on a Friday, had a decent amount of people there. They play music, but not loud, so talking is definitely possible. There was a small menu, but we were pressed for time and had to get back on the road. We will definitely be back to this place - either by bike or car to try some of the other beers and the food. read more

The food was great! I had the Happy Little Grilled Cheese and although I normally don't eat grilled cheeses, this was AMAZING. To drink, I had the flight and the cider. There was an error when it came to my cider, but the bartender was very quick to offer a refund or an additional 10 oz glass. I took the glass because I also really enjoyed the 1911 Tropical Cider. The only issue is that my friend who is allergic to nuts was unable to dine due to possible cross-contamination in the kitchen. But overall, 5/5 and I would come back the next time I am in the ADK region! read more

Love this local brewery! New favorite Happy Little Pale Ale is perfect beer for an early spring afternoon. Small menu but good food. The owners, Nick and Ethan are not only great brewers and apiarist's, they are fantastic hosts who make their customers feel valued and warmly welcomed. Their beers have excellent variety, and Ethan's creative brewing spirit is consistently exploring new offerings. Nick made our experience so wonderful. Great conversation about the brewing process and his bees. If only we lived closer we would for sure be there more often. It's clear the amount of love they put into this place. The beer is phenomenal and has so much variety. Unlike more breweries this day that are just hazy IPA factories. Their moose jam sour is so delicious. We brought a couple crowlers home with us so we will be sure to enjoy those within the week but definitely make the trip out to this place. read more
