Been here I believe four times now. It's a hit every time!! First time I went was on an invitation, as I wasn't expecting much from a brewery. I'm not too crazy about beer, and what I'd seen from the menu seemed like mostly burgers which I also find boring. Was very happy and surprised on my first visit to find they have creative and delicious cocktails, which are more up my alley when it comes to drinks. Also this first time, I got the truffle pizza, which was *phenomenal*!! Since then, have been back 3 more times, once for a drink and to try the cucumber salad, which also sounded incredible, to also compare to a similar one I make at home. Loved it!!! Then the next two times, went with my best friend. Both times he got a different burger, while I spent most of my split tab enjoying a couple drinks. When we're not trying to spend too much, this place has generous sides of fries which are also *incredible* and cheap, so you can fill up on those while enjoying the specialty drinks So I'd say it's really nice for all sorts of tastes, and has a budget friendly food workaround too if you're more there for drinks first, as I outlined above. We have been here a few times and overall very good. The good: The food is good, typical pub type fare, good prices. The servers are excellent and friendly, check back frequently. Cocktail and beer selections are great. Five stars to the blood orange margarita. The bad: You can't make a reservation and the waitlist is frustrating sometimes. Parking is challenging. We loved River Trail! We were just driving around the area looking for things tilo explore and wandered in here. Its a cool industrial looking space with lots of windows. Saranac Lake has always been slim pickings for dinner so we decided to check out River Trail for dinner. We walked up to the front door and it was locked. We were about to leave and realized that people were eating on the deck so we headed that way. Someone actually forgot to unlock the front door. I wanted to love it, the space is beautiful. There's the deck, a space with comfy and Adirondack chairs and the main dining room. The beer was really good but I was really disappointed in the food. We got fish and chips, a burger and a couple of pizzas. The food was average, not inedible, but I don't think I'd return for dinner, maybe just a couple of beers on the deck. read more

As part of our journey north from Florida, we ventured to Rivertrail Beerworks for an evening out. Nice big place with really good beer choices. Spritzers and cocktails were good size and excellent tasting. My brown ale was superb as I am a fan of the darker brews. For dinner, around the table we had wings (buffalo sauce and good), Tomato and basil soups(thoroughly enjoyed) for appetizers.The entrees did not disappoint either. My Ribeye Gyro was an interesting twist on the traditional version with the feta incorporated into the dressing. The steak entree looked fantastic and almost made me wish I ordered it myself. Our vegetarian diners enjoyed the pizza with onions and cheese and had enough to take home. Our server, Cameron, was excellent but seemed overwhelmed. It looked like he was working the dining room solo, but he handled it well t only a couple of instances where something we asked for was delayed (not forgotten). They also had a golf simulator on premises which looked interesting (I play) but none of my fellow diners were golfers. Overall a great evening accentuated by great food, drink, and conversation. On weekends plan on waiting a hour for a table, this place gets packed. The best move is just go right to the bar. In terms of food, the quality is surprisingly good for Saranac Lake. Plus the amount of people this place holds the kitchen must be insane. But they do a great job with the food and I have to say at this point it's the best place in Saranac Lake. I can't directly comment on the beer as I don't drink, however my friends all seem to like it and they have a nice selection of other brewers beers on tap. read more

The Rachel sandwich : Complex flavors well-made and delicious. Turkey is high-quality with a great smoked flavor perfectly complimented by gourmet and coleslaw. This is not your average one of the milk coleslaw very good flavor not overpowering. The bread is toast toasted but soft. Nothing worse than hard bread that cuts the roof in your mouth while you're trying to eat the sandwich. This is soft yet toasted. Don't know how they do that, but it is very good altogether produces an outstanding sandwich that complements each ingredient used. read more

Beautiful (and only) riverfront brewpub in Saranac Lake. Modern, but enough wood details to give Adirondack vibes. It was a little after lunch time,but there were a nice amount of people at the bar and at tables. Lots of TV's and a good amount of employees. Twelve house beers on tap and 4 New York guest beers on tap. We tried Stouts, cream ales, sours and lagers. What a great diversity of beers on tap. We enjoyed our selection and can't wait to try some more. They have a wonderfully diverse menu and they make their own buns, pretzels and desserts. All the food is made from scratch. We started with the roasted carrot hummus served with pita chips, carrot spears and olives. Excellent flavor and texture. We had the Broccoli Cheddar soup, Tofu Reuben, Jerked Chicken Wrap and Mushroom Pad Thai. The food was amazing and my pad Thai was some of the best I've had.....the mushrooms were meaty and so flavorful. Our service was very good and we're looking forward to our next visit. read more

RiverTrail Beerworks is an absolute gem in Saranac Lake -- a perfect landing spot for our hiking crew fresh into town. We were staying at Ampersand Bay Resort and this place came highly recommended -- and wow, are we glad we listened. We were looking for something casual but good, with enough variety to please a group of five, and RTB hit the mark on every level. The space has a super cool vibe -- modern yet totally in sync with the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. Expansive windows, local textures, and thoughtful design give it a clean, welcoming energy. The place was buzzing, but not chaotic, and we lucked out with seats at the bar. Service was fantastic -- welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely hospitable. The staff made us feel at home right away, happily offering beer samples and guiding us through the menu. If we weren't getting up at 4:45 AM to hike Mt. Marcy the next morning, we probably would've closed the place down. Now, the beer -- impressive and creative. So much so that I veered off my usual IPA path (shout out to the DIPA/NEIPA lovers) and went for the Omakase Lager, a Japanese rice lager. Light, crisp, and incredibly well-crafted. Kanpai, indeed. The food was equally strong -- elevated pub fare done right. I had the Fish & Chips ( 1/2 order), and appreciated that they use cod loins, not just fillets. The beer batter was light and crisp, the fries came out hot and perfectly golden (soggy fries are a pet peeve of mine, and these were anything but), and the slaw had a nice creamy balance with a hint of sweetness. Three of our group went for the RTB Smash Burger -- made with Donahue Farm beef, trail sauce, and served on a Lake Placid potato roll -- and gave it rave reviews. Another hiker had the Jamaican Jerk Crunch Wrap with marinated chicken thighs and Meiers Artisan Cheddar, plus a side of Broccoli & Cheddar Soup made with house lager. Both earned enthusiastic thumbs up. RiverTrail Beerworks is a total win -- great beer, great food, great people. We are well travelled & real foodies . Today's was a real let down . We arrived early ahead of a lunch rush on a Monday. All 3 meals were pretty bad. Fish and chips were obviously fried with the oil not up to an optimal temperature so they were soggy , saturated in grease . Another 2 chili dogs were tiny & the rolls way over sized. Chili topping looked and tasted like it was straight out of a can. My "Rachael " sandwich was soggy with grease from the grill and the coleslaw ( I've had this b4 and today's was pathetic.) I peeled the bread off and ate the cole slaw and smoked turkey. I owned a very successful deli & catering business & know what a sandwich is supposed to look like. Mine was very skimpy and contained of 2 thin slices of smoked turkey . I'd say less than 3 ounces of meat. Really , more like 2 ounces. Their food staff really needs some training & attention to detail . This was not a 18.00 sandwich. This restaurant was in the works for years, and the wait was well worth it. The building is beautiful and a great addition to Saranac Lake. Since they've opened last Fall we have enjoyed many great meals with family and friends. The Detroit Style Pizzas are amazing. The Garlic Parm Wings are great. The kids menu is perfect! For the last ten years I've been a beer snob, but lately I've gotten more into cocktails. RTB's beers are great, but their cocktails from tap are my new favorite. The Holiday Mule was great all winter, and the RTB Mule is delicious also. My son and Father-in-Law have played golf here many times and enjoy it. We've been here a few times this summer. This is the first brewery I've ever been to where I've ordered a flight and enjoyed every single beer! My friend also ordered a delicious mocktail that was out of this world (something with "Thyme" as a pun in the name). The roasted carrot hummus and jerk chicken Crunchwrap are easily my favorite things on the menu. I can also vouch for the pad Thai, spicy cold noodles, and the steak (ordered rare) was cooked to PERFECTION. For ambience, I wish there was a patio or outdoor location to eat that wasn't directly next to a bar as it got a bit loud at times. At peak times, the service can lag but that's how it is sometimes. Let me start by saying that very rarely do I leave a review for a business. Typically, when I do leave a review it is about a horrendous experience. So forgive me the departure here as I explain the bittersweet experience with this business. First off, having lived in 12 states, spent time in the Army, had the pleasure to have lived in small towns and big cities like Chicago, Las Vegas, D.C. and the displeasure of stints in some real hell-holes... I can honestly say my experience of bars is, to put it mildly, well encompassed. So when I say this business has the very best bar tender/bar manager I have ever met in all my travels across the US and the world, I hope you know that isn't something said lightly. Chris is the epitome of bartending. Charismatic, intelligent, inventive, skillful, and can carry a conversation while mixing multiple drinks at once. If this wasn't enough, his ever present care for the well being of the business exceeds that of the most passionate of business owners I've met. I met Chris at another bar/restaurant called Big Slide in Lake Placid. Once he moved here, I followed. Wherever he goes, I (as well as many others) will go. This loyalty isn't given, but constantly earned through providing the very best service I have ever experienced on this planet. From constantly inventing new, and might I also say, the very best drinks I've ever had, to hearing my complaint regarding a lack of military/veterans discount and fighting to make sure that was implemented... Chris is always striving to make wherever he works a better place. So when I noticed a change in Chris's demeanor, I was curious. This is a guy that for years, always, and I mean always projects a positive vibe. His personality has the capability of lifting a room. It was off the night I speak of. While, as a stellar employee he would never disparage his place of work, and wouldn't share details, as he shouldn't... I was able to gather the information from other sources that he had been in some way demoted. How the hell an employee of his caliber was demoted is beyond me. His custom made drinks were pulled from the menu and furthermore, I've never seen the bar with fewer people. So why 3 stars for this business? First off, Chris and his drinks makes this business. Without him, I'm gone, for all that's left after if he would leave is a bar with decent drinks, and acceptable food. Chris elevates this business, him alone, to a 5 star experience. The gross mismanagement of this business is squandering their greatest asset and if they're not careful, are at risk of losing it. I met the owners of this place during one of their date nights. I won't give names, but I'll give them benefit of the doubt that despite me approaching them, and sharing my experience and concerns, that perhaps they had a bit too much to drink and didn't remember the conversation as they still haven't remedied the situation after nearly a month. This is your reminder. Please take care of Chris. He deserves a promotion, not a demotion or whatever had ensued. If you don't, then i fear someone else will take him from you. I have half the mind to open my own bar and do it myself. Point is, a wrong needs righted. Until it is, this review will stay unchanged. read more

Had to wait for our room to be ready when we arrived in Saranac Lake for a long weekend so we took the opportunity to drive through town. Stopped in here for a beer and snack. I had the Brown Butter saison, hubby had Belgian Triple and we shared a generous serving of chips and queso. We will be stopping in again before leaving as there were several cans that looked good.
