It's a bar that has subpar bar food. I'm not sure why I expected anything better. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, the decor was a fun college pub style with a musical slant, the beer selection looked to be good but I did not imbibe. We ordered hummus appetizer; it was meh. The pita was over-crispy and the hummus was bland. I'd bet it was purchased and portioned. Don't bother asking for olive oil to go with it; the kitchen has none. The cheeseburger was hot but extra greasy, the chips seemed to be homemade but were stale like they were fried a few days ago. I asked if I could substitute the bun for a tortilla or pita bread but The kitchen has a no substitution policy for buns even though pitas and tortillas are on the menu. I offered to pay an up charge. It seemed like an easy request to fulfill but after checking with the kitchen the manager told me they would not make "what would amount to a new menu item for me." He did offer to sell me the "deconstructed" sandwich and another hummus and pita and I could put it together myself. No thanks; that is absurd. After two grease filled bites of the burger we checked out. So yeah probably a cool place for the college crowd to hang late night and drink but hard pass on the lunch date. For the Joes kitchen staff maybe try to be a bit more customer centric to the lunch crowd. Finally to end on a positive note, the Background music was A+: Pumpkins, Weezer, etc. read more

This was a spontaneous choice on a work trip. I was pleased. I had a nice portobello veggie wrap. It was hot and fresh. They offer fries that are similar to Steak and Shake in shape, but these are seasoned. I bought a record on the way out.. X - more fun in the new word. I have to say that this was my most frequented establishment in Cleveland. The fried pickles here were probably the best I've tasted (compared to Airport Grocery and the Warehouse) with a very generous portion. There are lots of TVs and they are receptive to requests for specific sports or subtitles. The Miss July burger (they feature a new one every month) was a bison burger with jalapenos and I'm glad I ordered it. Next time, I'll try the sweet potato fries, but the regular fries were nicely done and I had no complaints. Definitely walked out stuffed. The hipster dogs (hot dogs - hipster stand because it has a mustache) have awesome toppings for $4, chili cheese for $5. I had bacon bits, bbq sauce, and jalapenos along with all the regular toppings which was a pleasant surprise. The beer selection here is probably the best in Cleveland as well. They try to stay as stocked as they can and have 3-6 on tap, depending on the day. From Mexican imports like Bohemian and crafts from all over the country, I could almost always find a beer I liked and wanted to try, along with local beers like Southern Pecan and from local breweries like Abita. Wednesday trivia nights are also a treat! Locals get competitive and it's usually pretty close, but first place is the sole winner of a $30 gift card to Hey Joe's. They say they're a record store, but they have like... 30 maybe and they're a teensy bit overpriced. Other than that, I love that there are open mics, local bands playing, and DJs occasionally on the weekends. I'll be needing to come to Cleveland one Saturday per month for professional development meetings and I know I'll definitely be back to Hey Joe's. read more

We went to Merigold last night at 7:30 after a ballgame specifically to eat at Crawdad's. We had a group of 3 families and the hostess there turned us away and wouldn't seat us. Luckily, one of the customers leaving overheard and kindly suggested Hey Joe's across the street. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed by the very sweet lady behind the counter. From what I saw there was a staff of 3 and they very quickly waited on us and got us our food, which was excellent! I highly recommend the Kevin Bacon and the Do-nots! Not one complaint in the group! Great place. Interesting atmosphere. Fabulous burgers. I had their version of a mushroom-Swiss burger, called the Nirvana I think, and it was delicious. It came with picked okra and I got a side of pita with hummus. Fantastic. I've been in Cleveland, MS on business for a couple of days now and this is by far-and-away the best meal I've had since I've been here. Very popular spot for the college coed crowd. Food is good but the service can be a little lackluster at times. I recently had a grilled chicken sandwich and the chicken was very dry. Came here after our visit to the Grammy museum with my wife my sister in law and her 3 kids. The service was terrible. Our order took forever like 30 mintues. We had 3 kids chicken tenders meals, 2 burgers, a small order of wings and my wife had Joes BBQ pulled pork sandwich. When we finally got our order my wife bbq sandwich was cold and had very little bbq and the wings were cold too. I took the wings back and asked for more bbq for her sandwich but that took forever. So we got up and went to the pay the bill. The wings finally came out so I asked them to pack them to go. The BBQ never came out so I returned the sandwich. They did take it off the bill but my wife didn't eat. read more

It comes with grilled onions and mushrooms, Swiss cheese, bacon, with Hey Joe's sauce. It was cooked to perfection, and leaves me wanting more. I only wish we could give this place a zero or less! This was THE worst experience EVER! We waited for over an hour and NEVER received our food. To top off having to wait for over an hour for food we never received on a sweltering day with temps in the 90s and the heat index well over 100, the air conditioning was not working properly. For whatever reason, Cleveland seems to be awash with good places for burgers and Hey Joes is definitely one of them. I had the Kevin Bacon burger and it comes not just with bacon but also with a fried egg. Nice! The craft beers and big old bar decor only adds to the feeling you could hang here for a long time. The waitress on a Monday evening was super friendly, helpful and informative. The only negative I will throw out is avoid the sweet potato fries. They are a pretty horrible interpretation of fried shredded God knows what. I'll definitely be back when business brings me into town. read more

The first time I went here I wasn't all that impressed. However, once I was suckered back with some friends and I ordered the jalapeno chedder stuffed burger my mind was blown. Hands down one of the best burgers I have ever had. I have been here with large groups and small and the service is always pretty good. They also used to have man's night were PBR was dirt cheap which was great. My one complaint is that the burgers aren't always cooked the best, but if the chef does it right the jalapeno burger is awesome. read more

Hey Joe's holds the #1 spot on our Cleveland dine out list - the menu is heavily represented by hamburgers but that's not a bad thing as they make some of the best burgers in the Delta. They even have a "challenge" burger the Bobbie Earl Ray something and other .... it's up to 9 patties now. My favorite is the "Kevin Bacon" - I always jokingly tell the waitresses to bring it with a Kyra Sedgwick side salad. Of the non-burger items on the menu you'll do alright with the pulled pork but I recommend the Delta Cuban which is Joe's quite tasty variation of the South Miami staple. Joe's has weekly specials and occasional live music, and an interesting offering of "recordings on vinyl" - yeah baby old school - in the record section. I love to eat at local places when traveling, so my family and I choose Hey Joe's. I decided to try the "Greek" burger. I waited almost an hour to receive it only to find out, the only thing that made it Greek was fetta cheese. It had no sauce or seasoning otherwise. Service was nonexistent if sat outside (where our group decided to sit after they gave our table away inside). I never saw or heard from management even though we waited a really long time for a table and our food (45+ minutes just for food), not to mention they messed up our order twice (add more time for that). I wouldn't have been as upset had someone appeared to care or been aware of these issues and talked/dealt with us. read more

Love this place. Great food, wonderful service. Last time I was there (in May) we had a large group, and I think the server was a little nervous about the food taking so long. She checked on us regularly and made apologies. I told her that we understand food taking time to cook as we had about 10 people who had ordered. Passing through Cleveland on a gorgeous Saturday, we spotted a crowd on their patio for St. Patrick's Day and decided to try out the place. The staff were friendly and the menu looked amazing. We had already eaten lunch, so we just enjoyed a few Abita Strawberry beers and some hummus with grilled pita. This place is the perfect oasis in the Mississippi Delta.
