I also took 2 cookies for later in the day. While i greatly enjoyed the breakfast i was disappointed in the peanut butter cookie. It wasn't fresh. It looked delicious and i was hopeful but it was hard and not pleasant to eat. Maybe it just had been in the cookie jar too long. I mean it is a bakery and cafe and should be fresh. Their easter cookies and pies in the display case looked AMAZING. I wish i had chosen one of tbose. Anyway, i would go back for breakfast and for pie or maybe one of tnose beautifully decorated easter cookies. But the peanut butter cookie - i will pass on that. Staff were very nice!

A favorite dish seems to be the Alaskan waffle which is topped with ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream. We ate breakfast here and have stopped in a few times just to pick up some bakery items. We love the banana cream pie cup, lemon curd bread, turtle lava cake and chocolate covered Twinkie's. Service can be slow (by Milwaukee/city standards) but everything is served hot and to order. There is typically one waitress working too so keep that in mind. Cash payment is preferred and there is a small surcharge for credit card purchases. They have weekly bingo games and you seat yourself if you want to dine in. This is a breakfast / lunch spot as they are not open during dinner hours. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Adams County or camping at Roche-a-Cri state park nearby.

After wandering their shop full of sweet treats, we made our way over to the ice cream counter to order. They have a variety of ice cream and sundaes. I decided on a sundae and it came in a paper bowl that you would purchase at the grocery. It has this nostalgic feel of being at an ice cream social with your volleyball team in the 5th grade (in the best way possible). It's the sort of sundae your grandma might have made that one hot summer after you got sunburned at the pool. Just me? I don't know. I just love the home grown simplicity of both their ice cream sundaes and the presentation. They have a small seating area where my group was able to grab a seat and enjoy our ice cream. Whether your looking for a scoop, sundae, or box of chocolates--this is a great spot to stop on any trip to the Dells. Get to it!

The restaurant itself is cute as a button with the black and white checked flooring and cutsie decor. The front windows roll up to make for lovely open air dining on pleasant days. It's an order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you sort of set up. For my first breakfast here, I got their oatmeal which was fantastic. It was a hearty serving of oatmeal and had chia seeds, cinnamon, blueberries, strawberries, and banana on top. All the fruit was fresh, making for a wonderfully delicious breakfast. The coffee is also solid (though I can't recall what I ordered) and the service is friendly. Get to it!

It left us waiting to be serviced for around 10 minutes and when our food arrived, it was cold (likely from waiting for a server/coffee bartender to find a break to retrieve it). I ordered the french toast, which was good, cold but good, and a coffee, which I was okay with. My partner ordered the pork bowl, which arrived cold aside from the eggs in it. The prices here are reasonable, especially for the Dells, but I think Huckleberry's would be smart to have a few more hands on deck to ensure timely service.

They buy in bulk, repackage in store, and sell at very reasonable prices. Let's take a tour of the store, outside is both paved and dirt parking, as well as a horse and buggy only zone. Walking in the front door is a selection of flyers with updates about local businesses and events. Once inside straight ahead is checkout, to the right is a plentiful heard of shopping carts. The first isle (starting at the right from the front of the store.) has a selection of fresh produce, apples, onions, and sweet potatoes are the everyday staples complimented with seasonal accompaniments. Down the isle are an assortment of snack goods, soup mixes and the like. Next is my favorite isle, the baking isle, it contains a lovely assortment, starting from the back there is a collection of oils, vanillas, and a few other extracts. Across the aisle is a selection of flours*, baking mixes, and meals. Next to the oils and extracts is a selection of chocolate, chips, marshmallows, and sweet baking ingredients. Next up is a selection of pudding and Jello mixes, and a great dark Coco powder. Across this wonderful isle is a large selection of spices, prices are great and a ton of variety. Also on the isle is a selection of baking conditioners: malted milk powder, buttermilk powder, and powdered milk, including whole milk powder. *Oh yeah about those flours, they sell semolina flour at a great, amazing price. They stock a fair amount of King Arthur flours in a variety of repackaged sizes, 5 and 10 lbs, with 50 lbs sacks up front beyond the registers. The next isles have a good selection of snacks: classic candies, nuts, chocolate covered this and that; oats: stone cut, regular, and quick; other breakfast goods: cold cereal, muffin and pancake/waffle mixes, etc. Last but not least there is a variety of corn syrups. The back wall has a selection of dry pasta, and the last isle has a mix of cookware, and little things. Up front before the registers is a random mix of clearance items, 50 lbs sacks of potatoes. On the front wall is a mix of 25 & 50 lbs sacks of flours and oats for $13-$20 for 50 lbs including King Arthur.

There was quite a lineup at the bakery, as only so many people can file in and purchase items that are stored in racks on the perimeter of the small room, lit by skylights. The general store is about a 5 minute drive from there. Well stocked, especially with bulk and preserved food items. I needed soy flour and this was the ONLY place I could find it, and at a very reasonable price! Service was good and friendly. If you take children with, keep in mind that the wait for the bakery could be as long as an hour, but they don't mind the children checking out the farm animals nor playing in ample yard space.

Silly me didn't check the order until the next day and found we were short a bag of pretzels. When I called to let them know I was missing part of my order, Danielle immediately made up for it. Knowing I had come so far for their delicious pretzels, she mailed a tub of sassy, seasoned pretzels to my home. Mistakes happen but it's how retailers deal with rectifying a situation that lets you know just how good a business they are. And It's Poppin is not just a good business, they're a great business!
