This was my first time visiting Pleasant View Bakery after hearing great things from my neighbors. It's definitely a long drive, it made for a fun little field trip to rural WI, especially Amish country! When we arrived, we noticed a large parking area. The bakery is housed in a charming blue-and-white building. We didn't realize we could park right next to it, so we ended up parking farther away and walking about 3-4 minutes. Not a big deal, but since it was around 90°F that day, parking closer would have been nice! There's a small sign on the ground pointing to the bakery, and next to it is a lovely picnic area with a few tables and chairs. When we arrived, there was a small bucket with $.50 each zucchini and a beautiful garden nearby. About 20 people were ahead of us in queue but the line moved quickly--we waited roughly 20 minutes. The bakery itself is inside a small house. As you enter, shelves of fresh bread loaves line the right side, while jams and other pickled items are displayed on the left. The register is straight ahead, and behind it is the kitchen where we saw women braiding dough for pretzels--made fresh on-site! The pretzels are huge and cost $3.50 each. We bought one, and it was soft, chewy, and delicious. They also offer an assortment of baked goods like fruit pies (individual and full-size), cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, and more. The cinnamon rolls are what they're known for, so we grabbed a couple, and my husband really enjoyed his. Near the register, they also sell day-old pastries at a discount, which is a great way to sample more items. One thing to note: they do not accept credit cards--cash only. As an Amish bakery, there's no electricity, so the space is naturally lit and a bit dim inside, but surprisingly not too hot even without air conditioning. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The baked goods were tasty, the setting was peaceful, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. We'd definitely stop by again if we're in the area.

Best pastries we have ever tasted! If you have the time, this is a must visit! We bought a loaf of bread, honey, two handpies, a kolaches, and cinnamon rolls.

Remember bring cash!! Lovely assortment of breads, pies, cookies, rolls, pretzels! Lovely little picnic area too. We got there early there was a huge line but so worth it.

We stopped in around 9am on a Tuesday morning , and purchased bread, a pretzel with cheese sauce, and a cinnamon roll that had pecans on top. The $2 cinnamon roll was our favorite. Like other places in the area, cash and checks are the currency accepted. If we're in the area again, we will definitely get a few cinnamon rolls! Ours was spectacular. Our only negative on this visit was due to another customer coughing and not covering her mouth (no mask). Thankfully we were checking-out and could rush out of the store. It's a very tight space in the store.

Very popular bakery. Long lines but worth it. Lots of baked goods and line moves quickly.

Always one of my favorite stops when I'm in the area. Authentic baked goods and in the fall you can stock up on veggies while you're there.

Ask the Community - Pleasant View Bakery

My question is do you have or make the Amish Friendship Bread and if so do you also sell starter kits for the bread?

    No.

The service was incredibly friendly, and amazingly fast, given we had a larger order and the place was fairly busy. There were plenty of options; from drink options/flavors, to bakery and breakfast items, etc. If you can't find something to order, that is completely on you because the choices are plenty. We opted for a couple of seasonal lattes, which were, unfortunately, very lacking in flavor. I typically order my coffee drinks half sweet, but this particular day I was wanting something sweet and flavorful so I skipped that directive, and was still disappointed. Bakery items and other drinks were good. There was some sort of market happening in the front of the store, which could have caused for more crowding/chaos elsewhere, but overall it felt like there was a lot of "stuff" everywhere. The seating area seems really crowded, but also didn't appear to have been cleaned in a while. There was a messy desk back by the bathrooms, and while I understand this is probably a busy work area for someone, it all just made me feel a little stressed out. Not a place I would feel relaxed to complete any work.

This year Buttercream Bakery offered sides and rolls for Thanksgiving. I ordered the Brussel sprouts, Squash, and a dozen rolls. I am so very happy with all of it! The squash was AMAZING!!! One of the other things I like is they have a Facebook page and you can order through Facebook messenger. Very convenient. I highly recommend Buttercream Bakery!
