They replace our pads and calibrate the swamp cooler every year and are clean, efficient, easy to work with. Brandy always does a great job setting us up at a time that is convenient and solves any minor problem immediately. They even winterize the swamp system and reboot it come spring with fresh filters--no fuss, no mess. Three trucks showed up one afternoon, got everything done before lunch, and left with no traces behind . If only every contractor could be that efficient! A few years back they replaced our entire HVAC system and our electric bills dropped by almost 40%, and the system has never given us a moment of trouble. They didn't stop at the unit--they replaced our old ductwork with a high-efficiency ducting system. The airflow is reprioritized (they explained that's why some rooms were always hot and some were always cold), and the temperature throughout the house is noticeably more even. They were able to get to the house on Monday morning right on time and ready to go. The repair was done quickly and correctly. He showed me the broken part that he removed and charged me less than I expected - frankly. (Google estimated my repair between $250 and $350 and high desert was shy of $200). I was happy with Hi Desert Air initially. Since installation of two split units/one condenser I have had numerous issues & other subcontractors highlight errors in the installation. Insulation used on buried lines wasn't rate for burial - they quickly rotted away both underground and where exposed to YV from the ground to the condenser. The units have always functioned weirdly: two heads inside and one that wouldn't work without the other turned on. After a service visit I was told there was nothing wrong. A different split installer found the error: the communication cables had been installed backwards so one was reliant on the other, but not the other way around. Problem solved + cost me $100. Additionally, I'd had Hi Desert Air service the units for cleaning annually - at $50 per. When I called to have them done last year I was told the cleaning would be $200 per. I've been working with Quality Air to pick up where these guys haven't been able to. Their service techs have more valuable mechanical experience & resolve my issues within an hour. read more

Our electricity went out in full heat mode that caused our furnace to stop working. I took off the front panel off and saw blinking green light. Blinking 4 times is a limit switch open. We purchased a new roof swamp cooler 4 years ago. We just had our kitchen ceiling fall onto the floor in a 4 foot circumference. After removing the wet installation the hole that Hi Desert Air used to run the cords had not been finished off therefore acting like a big funnel for the water. Prior to this, we had been doing small roof repairs for water damage in other parts of the ceiling which would have been caused by this shoddy work. We will never use Hi Desert Air again. There was never the equivalent of a journeyman on the job and this is an expensive repair. They installed our original swamp cooler along with vents 10 years prior but seemed to have gone downhill. These people are amazing, They have been super helpful in getting a new HVAC system installed in the heat of summer within two weeks of asking for it , and this is when other HVAC companies in town weren't even returning phone calls, or giving me two months lead time before they could do an install. But most impressively, I had a swamp cooler leak that was even coming through my roof, and I called them 5 minutes before 5pm closing on a day they were short staffed and there next service opening wasnt for five days, but they asked if I have a normal ac unit as backup, and when i told them how I only have a swamp cooler, they sent someone out to fix it afterhours and he was great and found the cause of the problem immediately. We had used Hi-Desert Air for several years, first at our business, then at our home and were generally satisfied. But then their quality of service went downhill. On a call-back to fix something they failed at the first time, the repair tech impressed upon me that the next time they came out they would charge the regular service call rate. I said I understood. However, when the tech was finishing up he turned his back on me, putting his body between me and the copper tube he was working on so I could not see what he was doing. It was after he left that I saw what he did. He sabotaged my unit by crimping the copper tube that delivers the water to the swamp cooler. (see photos) Had I not inspected it myself, and had I turned on the unit, no water would have been delivered to the unit and the pump could have burned out. Needless to say, I did not call them back to "fix" it again. No, I would not recommend them. read more

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great a experience with Hi Desert Air like the other reviewers that have used this company. First off, it is very difficult to contact someone to schedule an appointment. I sent them messages via Yelp and left voicemails. Their response time usually take 2 to 3 days. When you finally get to talk to a representative and schedule an appointment, they don't actually book your appointment and you end up waiting around for hours at home to find out no one is coming. This is exactly what happened to me. I spoke with a lady over the phone and she told me someone can come and check out my ac unit a week from today so I told her that will be fine. Come a week later, I was waiting around from 8 to 11am (the time window they told me someone would show up) until I called them (after multiple attempts) around 1050am only to find they never scheduled my appointment. I was very upset at this point since I came from out of town early that morning just to make sure I was home before 8am. They ended up having someone come over around 1145am. This gentleman was very nice. He assessed the thermostat and attempted to fix the ac unit's motor without success. He then told me I would have to buy a new compressor which costs around 1,200 to 2,000 but highly recommends a brand new unit which he estimated 6,000 to 8,000. He then added a disclaimer that he doesn't get paid off commission. I told him I would have to get back with a final decision. Well, I decided to get a second opinion from another company by which was very responsive. They came the following day and was able to fix my ac unit. It turns out it was the capacitor kick start that needed to be replaced. This saved me lots of $$$$$$$$ and I am now a very happy person staying cool in my home. If you would like the name of the other company I used please let me know. They could save you a lot of money and time. And your ac unit could be fixed before the summer heat. read more

Absolutely the most amazing people ever. A husband and wife team and they work hard to make you a happy customer. I was with G & K Propane, they are the absolute worst people to work with. I was on a contract with them and due to a leak (you could smell it all over the yard), I ran out of propane 2 days after my payment. They would not bring me propane until my contract ran out??? They left me almost two weeks without propane, no stove and no hot water. I had to use electric skillets to heat my water and I am 76 years old. I called High Desert Air, they came right out, set up a new tank, gave me a payment plan, they are the sweetest hard working couple ever. I love them and can't say enough good things about them!! Bought a swamp cooler (2/20) from Hi-Desert and the installation went fine. Had to have them come back for a minor adjustment to reduce rattling noise. Called them to winterize the cooler. Was told they put cover on unit, drained the unit, and shut off the water supply. We were told all we had to do to use the unit was to remove cover, reconnect water supply, and it would fill when turned on. Discovered they had disconnected all internal electrical, removed the motor belt, removed plug and drain hose, and broke the float cover but left us the pieces. They left a mess on our roof. They didn't shut off the circuit breaker to the unit. When we called to complain about all the disconnects, was told that is the way they have winterized for 33 years. You have to call for routine maintenance a month in advance. They need to hire more people to serve their customers. We had to do our own de-winterizing. We'll be looking for a different service company in the future. read more

Was selling my house. The buyer wanted them to look at the cooler. No problem since he was paying. The came out and the cooler had issues. They ended up flooding the front porch when they rinsed out the cooler. For some reason the took the hose off from the faucet and they it was not like that when they went to use it. Cooler would not run. They turned it on, and with water turned on and left the house. Lucky the,house didn't burn down cause of the cooler having issues and then the porch ends up getting flooded cause theu didn't turn off the water going to the cooler before they left.
