During this heat wave it finally went out again and this time I called Affordable AC because they are here in 29 Palms which is huge. All other places either take days to get an appointment or they only come up to our area once a week. Even though I sent a message at 8pm, not expecting to hear back until the next day, my phone rang only a few minutes later. Chris asked a few questions, seemed to understand exactly what I was describing and we made a plan for the very next day. He was quick to communicate, on time, respectful, and best of all figured out the problem nearly immediately. Our Air ducting was shot and the house would only get to 88 degrees with either the air conditioning or the swamp cooler! So I called on Thursday and on Friday they came and gave me a quote which was by far the best around. Monday the work started Wednesday it was done! I knew the ducting was bad but it had actual holes and I was cooling the attic space not the house Uggh! They fixed everything and upgraded and replaced all registers. The guys were helpful friendly and so easy to work with. My house is now able to get to the 70s in 90 plus degree heat and both the swamp cooler and air conditioning work to cool the house. Not at the same time of course. I highly recommend Affordable Heating and Air and when I need a new air conditioner they will be the ones I call to do the work! read more

My A/C decided to stop working on Friday, not a good day get anyone out on a weekend, but here we are. I was just going to get quotes and Affordable was the first one I called. Chris answered and said he would be right our with a very reasonable quote. What a nice guy, he was leaving early the next day on vacation, but he would help us. Chris and his guys installed a new system on my rental property and I couldn't be happier with it. It was the dead of summer (July) and my old system stopped cooling. I was in between tenants and doing other renovations to the house so thankfully we weren't super pressed for time. He got right on it even with other jobs and family plans happening. He explained my options and I decided to just go ahead with a new system, being that the current system was the original and on its last leg. It pains us to only leave one star because Chris was so great in the first parts of our AC installation. But then he stopped responding and left the project incomplete. We got a whole new 5 ton unit installed on our roof a year ago, and it's been great. However we just found out that Chris never installed a filter on the AC and we're now experiencing problems. Chris stopped responding to us towards the end of the initial install, and while we got him on the phone recently, he has stopped responding to us again and we are still stuck without the specific filter we need for the unit. We will happily change our rating to a solid five stars if Chris actually responds to us and completes the job. But unless that happens, the process has been pretty disappointing. read more

In the peak of the desert heat my A/C went out. I called Affordable heating and air on a Saturday morning to come out and be of rescue . I had to leave the property due to home being a broiler so I took a big bear trip to cool down as my A/C was being fixed . I was grateful Chris came out on a Saturday to attempt to fix the issue however , the issue was not fixed . He charged me over $380 for literally NOTHING! I didn't mind paying him if he actually fixed the issue but he didn't . I came back home to a hot house . I texted Chris and let him know the issue is not fixed . He told me " it's fixed , it takes awhile to get cold " I waited an hour which is the longest I can stand in the desert. I had to relocate for the night. Chris & his crew Nick were on time for an emergency repair, professional, and able to diagnose the problem with my roof mount cooler in no time. Had a service call for 9:30 got a call at 9:20 from Nick the tech stating he's picking up a pump just in case it would be needed and will be at my house asap. Arrived a little after 9:30 was 9:43 which is my book is on-time. Had the cooler up and fully running by 10, so about 15 all was done. Worst company ever! I mean where do I start. First off, if you live in 29 palms, you literally have only a few options for AC repair and this company know this. Chris Grabow knows this.. this will explain the crap work they do as well as the lack of communication and the complete disregard for returning calls at all. They installed an AC and 3 months later when it began to mess up, this company was no where to be found, they would not answer the business phone, nor would they reply to texts, Chris would not even answer his cell. Had a leak in our AC refrigerant line at the condensing unit on our mini split system on our travel trailer from being run with no slack and bouncing down the road. Chris went beyond adding slack and fixing the leak by adding flex ends at the unit to prevent bouncing out a new leak down the road. 106 degrees in 29 Palms, yesterday. My cooler was completely FUBAR. I could not even sleep the night before, so scared. A handyman had come over and completely effed up my shaft and bearings, didn't mean to, then the motor burned up. I called about 5 places, beginning at 6 a.m. Depite advertising 24-hour service I found that this meant they had 24-hour VOICEMAIL. One, Nielsen, didn't call me back at all. Another, Fire and Ice, called back in late afternoon. The only one that picked up was Affordable, answered right away, nice person, said he would check with the technician as to time. I waited an agonizing 4 hours, Nick showed up, SAVIOR. ANGEL. Nice person, trained, skilled, intelligent. Told me that everything my last 2 helpers had done was a disaster. Motor probably installed incorrectly 2 months ago. People, an electrician is not a swamp cooler person. The shaft of the motor was bent, everything was installed wrong. Nick took an hour fixing everything and GAVE me a used motor that he happened to have. After I told him I'd spent my kids' inheritance on this cooler, 3 different clueless men working on it.
