GOODBYE SWAMP COOLERS, HELLO MINI-SPLITS!!! We run two Airbnb's on our property near Jtree National Park, both of which had swamp coolers and gas heaters. Swamp coolers, while they work pretty well except during the monsoon season, are loud, blow in dust, use water constantly, and require regular replacement of the motor and pump. Gas heaters are constantly using gas via the pilot light even when not in use, creating air pollution for our guests, not to mention the water pollution and earthquakes that result from the fracking process that creates natural gas. To create the best, most comfortable experience for our guests, and to reduce the impact and increase the efficiency of our property we decided to remove the old coolers and heaters and replace them with ductless mini-splits. We called Quality HVAC, Timothy was very responsive, punctual and professional when he came out for a quote, and very competitive with his pricing. We got a couple of other quotes but Timothy's communications were the smoothest. It was over a year after the quote (any many guest complaints about the swamp coolers) that we were finally ready to pull the trigger, and the deciding factor was that Timothy responded again quickly and let me know about a new SCE rebate that lowered the cost of the job (basically covered the copper, tubes, etc). We installed and 18k and a 12k unit in the main house and 12k unit in the guest house, all Fujitsu (Quality HVAC is a Fujitsu Elite installer and offers a 12 year manufacturer warranty thanks to that status), and made sure we added the WiFi units so we're able to control the units anywhere from our phones to preheat/cool the place before guests arrive. The installation went very smooth, Carlos and Jeremy uninstalled all the old hardware and made quick work of getting two splits in on the first day so we would have a cool place to sleep! Next day the other split went in quickly and and the finer detail work got wrapped up inside and out. They're hauling away the old coolers/heaters tomorrow and the walls are being patched by a person recommended by Timothy. I would definitely work with his team again; I'm very pleased with the results and the quality of the work and you will be too! read more

My HVAC compressor was blowing out cold air instead of warm, I called them about 12 and they were at my house at 2:30 checking on the problem. We'll long story short I fried the compressor because I wired the thermostat wrong when I switched over to a smart thermostat (will never do that again). Me. Service times were very fast (other companies' quote times were days or weeks out) and their pricing was competitive. We had a very old swamp cooler that needed to be replaced. They got it working during the initial service call which was important so no one was left stranded in the heat. They recommended a new swamp cooler and were able to install the new one quickly and beautifully at a good price (there were more expensive quotes in the area.) They even went the extra mile by helping me and my tenant understand how to best use the machine. They also checked in with me to make sure the special requests I had were fulfilled. This business overcharged me and refused to come back to fix problems after I called them twice about the unit not working. The motor stops randomly, the unit leaks, they left the water pipe crumpled on the ground, they refused to finish the inside duct, instead of wiring into the dedicated circuit, they just plugged it in to a wall outlet and blows the breaker, the chain holding it up split the roof eave and I had to take the sides off and drain all the water to reduce the weight on the broken chain. A contractor who was working on my house the day they installed it confronted Timothy face to face and told Timothy that he needed to make it right. He refused. I filed a complaint with the BBB and left a bad Google review. Hours after I posted the bad Google review Timothy all of a sudden finds my number and sends me a text claiming that I never told him about any problems. Which is a lie. Evan came out 2/13/23 & Diagnosed the Hvac, said it was a breaker, we changed out the breaker. They came back out and said it was a defrost board. They would get a new one (it is still under warranty) and get it replaced. Two weeks later still waiting, keep getting the run around. I called the dealer Baker in Redlands and they said they were waiting for Quality to pick it up. When I called Tim Stevens to question what Adam @ Baker said, Tim Stevens said (Rudely) that he was not driving to Redlands to pick it up, esp. since it was not a unit he installed or is warranting that he already has too much time and money tied up in this. Crappy Service, should not have taken two week when the part was in stock per Adam @ Baker. Then I get a text from Tim Stevens, stating "So they do ship but hasn't called to get it finished and sent it." I don't understand why it took me to make calls to find out what is going on when Tim Stevens and Evan said they were waiting for the item to come in the mail. But I see that was a lie. I was never given any paperwork showing the work done or a invoice showing the work done. I don't feel confident in them or their ability. I will not use them. I have already called another company to come out, I cannot wait another week or two when it has been in the 30's here is JV. read more

My AC was overheating due to pressure build up, the technician misdiagnosed that I need to change the entire AC, he was also trying to charge extra with parts. Not only he did not fix the issue, he also pulled the wires and messed up my thermostat. He left me hanging in summer hear. I had to call another company from Palm Springs, they fixed the AC right away, but the wire took a whole day, because he pulled it from the attic and we had to rewire. I explained the whole thing to the owner, and asked him to modify the invoice they sent me. Not only he did not modify, but he kept calling and challenging me that his technician was great. I do not recommend this business. I ended up paying the bill, he added $40 on top of the service call, which was $70. I asked he remove the labor, but he never did. I payed him but i am not happy and hope nobody goes through the same experience, specially with the heat of summer. read more

When monsoonal flows rendered my evaporative cooler pointless, and nighttime temperatures in my midcentury writer's aerie/cabin hovered in the mid 90s, I reached out to no less than three local HVAC outfits. Not only was Mr Stevens the first to respond, he paced his competitors, endeavoring to get my HE/energy rated mini split installed a week ahead of the others' promised service. Moreover, Stevens's installers, brothers Cody and Vinnie proved as much courteous as they were respectful of my dwelling. From space to time, Tim envisioned a three-hour install: the brothers finished 15-20 minutes ahead of that estimate. I first used Tim back last year on Labor Day when my AC suddenly broke, it was a holiday and he still picked up the phone and sent someone straight out. They fixed the problem in no time at all and were very reasonable. I was shocked I could get someone out there on the holiday and get it back and running right away. My AC recently went down at another property I own and I made the bad decision of going with another company as they were available right away. They botched the job, and left mid way through saying they didn't know what to do after I had folked out thousands on new parts. My son and family used our house over the weekend and the compressor went out late afternoon Saturday. When we got home Sunday, we called Quality HVAC and set up an appointment for Tuesday but luckily they had a cancellation on Monday and came out. Great experience. Jon came out and did troubleshooting for my air conditioner. He checked all components of condenser and thermostat. Found that I accidentally had breaker off and that was why blower was running on central air but the condenser was not, this is why air was blowing hot. I also thought I may have been low on R-22 but he quickly eliminated that possibility. He is a pleasant person to converse with while he worked. He is professional, honest, and friendly.
