R1. Tonkotsu Ramen
Alexandra E.

Randomly stopped here before a movie. The food was fast, fresh, hot and tasty and filling. We tried a ramen and a poke bowl and both were delicious and well priced for the amount of food we received. The service was great, the staff was very friendly, and the interior was clean and well designed. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Haven't heard about this place before. I was with my family on the Target close to HiPoke, and I came across this restaurant when I opened Maps. Staff was friendly and very patient (and also helpful!!). The store was very cute and clean! And the food? No words! Absolutely delicious, and with a lot of options to choose from! Will come back again to try the hot plates

I had never tried poke!! But had heard so much about it .. always wanting to try this place(as I passed by so many times) finally when I did try it I fell in love with poke the first time I had it here.. they also have a punch card that gives you 1 free after For every 10 that you punch in !! It's been around 3 months since I had my first bowl and I've already punched in 7 times !! The girl who takes the order also is very sweet !! Such a good experience highly recommend this place and the food here I always make my own bowl and try different sauces

This was my first ever experience eating poke, and I really enjoyed it! The decor of Hi Poke is so cute. It's ocean themed, with a bunch of little fish stuck on the blue walls and anchors and lighthouses painted all over, which is adorable. Even though it was really cute inside, I opted to eat at one of their outside tables on the sidewalk because the weather was so lovely today. Parking is plentiful since it's in the Park Place shopping center. I ordered the tofu poke bowl, and all the ingredients were super tasty. I have to give a shout out to the sweet chili sauce because that's what really tied it all together. The portion size was perfect; I left full but not so stuffed as to feel lethargic. Pricing was also reasonable. Overall, a great spot for a casual lunch or early dinner!

I've had some other poke bowls around the Triangle and I really wanted to love Hi Poke. This bowl just didn't do it for me though. The tofu was cold with no flavor; I don't think it was marinated in anything. I really love tofu, but it always needs a little something and it's better hot. The sweet chili sauce was kind of strange in the bowl too. The rest of the ingredients were so fresh and delicious though. I feel like I should go back and try a signature tuna or salmon dish to have a fair representation of Hi Poke.

Got a chicken poke burrito with pineapple mango and avocado and tonkotsu ramen with a Doordash giftcard. It was all so very good. The sauce flavor in the burrito was amazing!

Super awesome! Well done!

I've been to multiple poke places in the triangle and this has to be the best one yet. The prices are perfect and poke is fresh. The portions are also huge and fulfilling. I've been here 2-3 times and the ingredients are always consistent, this is a plus for poke. I prefer creating my bowl over going with the special poke bowls. I like my poke in a certain way so this is always the best option for me. I usually go with the spicy tuna as my protein. The customer service is fantastic here as well. I love their positive energy. The lines can get long during lunch so I recommend coming here before 12:00 p.m. There are plenty of seats. I am a fan of the natural sunlight as well! They also offer free flavored water, which is a plus. Poke on point!

Very tasty Poke bowl. They do not serve kimchi or Pàocà. They said said they would consider adding it to the menu. Very clean. Bright lighting, with soft music.

I love good poke, and Hi Poke did not disappoint! The salmon and tuna was super fresh, and I liked their choice of toppings! I will be back to try the sushi burrito!

Build your own poke bowl. Delicious and generous portions!
Tim C.

Of the Poke Bowl places in the area, this one is my favorite, hands down. The portion size is very generous when ordering a build-your-own bowl, the quality of the fish is pretty good, which makes the bang-for-your-buck very much worth it. I've been here twice now, and have tried the salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, and octopus. I enjoyed all of them, and I think my favorite are the salmon and octopus. The poke sauce is tasty but not overpowering, and they have pretty good toppings, including tamago and pickled daikon. My go-to build-you-own bowl would be salmon, tuna, and octopus with poke sauce, cucumbers, edamame, masago, pickled daikon, seaweed salad, tamago, and furikake. You can mix and match whatever else appeals to you, but word of advice: simple is better. If you put too much stuff that in that don't go well together, it ends up tasting not-so-great. I like that they let you do half-rice and half-salad as well. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and informative. If you're not sure about the sauces, they will give you a sample. I also tried the mango fruit tea, and enjoyed the flavor and jellies they add. I will probably ask for a little less sweet next time, but it was great. The space is clean and well-kept. It's a small space, but I've never had an issue finding seating - it seems like a decent number of people take their meals to go. Great poke spot in the area - I'll definitely be back for more!

Impressive. Hi Poke is a good choice in a neighborhood replete with food options. One of my Yelp friends calls Poke "lazy sushi". I hadn't thought of it that way, but he's not wrong. It's okay though, because it's still good. If it meets that standard, call it whatever you want. With a choice of pre-made bowls or a pick your own, Hi Poke, despite being opened so recently, has the process down. The food was fresh, the people friendly and seem genuinely interested in making sure all customers enjoy the food. I agree with Nancy T, in that the size is smaller than similar places, but it's deceptive. There's still a lot of food in one of these bowls. The food is fresh and the pieces are bite-sized. On my first visit, I ordered two proteins instead of three but without a reduction in the rice. That might have contributed to the disparity in the rice/protein mix of what I had, but with the mix-ins, it still ended up being plenty. I'll come by again because there are many more choices and I think I'm creating a mission for myself to try it all.

We stopped by for lunch. I do love the poke and this place did not disappoint. All the fresh ingredients we poke lovers have come to expect. The workers were super friendly and helpful. If you haven't tried poke this is a great place to start. My only complaint would be that the price is a few dollars higher than I would expect for the size bowl we received. If you like HOT then try their sirracha sauce. My mouth was burning for quite a while after eating it. It was great !! They have quite an assortment of sauces. We will probably be back. It's a small little place with plenty of room to eat in.

We sat outside this day, as the weather was mild and there wasn't any available seats inside. We ordered a fried combo and a grilled combo. TrySeafood does a lot of things right. Portion size was fairly generous. We especially love the fact they serve cleaned jumbo shrimp. Food was cooked well, shrimp was tender as was scallops. The broccoli was not tender crisp nor mushy. The potatoes and corn were delicious. While service was friendly, it was a bit slow. Also, I'm not an Old Bay fan. The grilled shrimp were seasoned with Old Bay. While the fish was crispy, I prefer a cornmeal dredge to a flour dredge. Finally, (and this could have been a me thing) the tip percentage on the screen doesn't align with the math. I intended to tip 15% - which is standard especially considering slow service. That should have been approx $8 and when I got home I realized it was approximately $16. You're not given a printed receipt and if you're in a rush and going through the process quickly it's easy to miss. Again I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I selected the %15 option. Additionally, I've seen other restaurants that have intentionally include this practice. Would I go again, sure. I'd request a different seasoning blend or a light seasoning and check that math! Nice atmosphere inside, but recommend reservations as they fill up quickly. The Deets: Some friends/coworkers and I decided to catch up over a meal and we decided on trying out this location of Cape Fear Seafood Co. on Lake Pine Drive. I had been to the one located in the Village District (formerly Cameron Village) of DTR in the past and knew of this one opening up through Yelp. If you know me, I am usually not one for seafood but remember I had a pretty good experience at the one in DTR. We noted that it would be a good idea to have a reservation so one was made. Good thing, this place gets crowded fast, even around the 5pm point. Upon arrival, we were promptly shown to a table with menus. While walking in, this restaurant has that beach type feeling with brightly painted areas and subtle pelagic decor without going overboard. The bar area gave a warm, inviting vibe. Back to the menu, their menu is pretty expansive but not over the top multiple pages. I think even the non-seafood lover can find something to like here. We started with hush puppies for the table and I went with the appetizer sized mini crab cakes for myself. I loved the mini crab cakes and the lemon beurre blanc sauce with them, just enough for a starter and tasted great. The hush puppies were good as well but just a tiny bit too brown for me, they were a little bit more done than I'd like. I like them more of a golden finish instead of brown, just my preference. For my main dish, I went with their Cape Fear Shrimp & Grits. They are a pretty popular choice here and I remember liking them at the DTR location. They remained a great choice, they were delicious. They are very flavorful and enjoyable without being spicy, which I like as I am non-spicy food person and it seems most everywhere does their shrimp & grits spicy. I find this take on them refreshing. I would have liked more cheese grits in the serving as it seems to be like a half serving, however the shrimp as well as the creamy sauce were plentiful. Service did a good job here, checking on us periodically. In all, I liked this experience here at Cape Fear Seafood Co. for the most part and would enjoy visiting again in the future.

We made reservations ahead of time online since it was a Holiday. First off the front staff was super friendly and got us to our table right away. Love the feel and the decor. The lighting was a tad dark but that's ok. It was still cozy and romantic. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. They had a special Valentine's Day menu. She ran down the specials by memory. She took our drink and appetizer order ( the calamari fritti) gave us time to check out the rest of the expansive menu. The drinks came and our app. The lemonades were very sweet and nicely tart from the real fruit purée and lemons. Delightful! The calamari fritti was a knock out, home run. The breading was delicious. The calamari was nice and tender. The marinara was so good. Get this is you like calamari! For our mains we got the Sea bass special with the creamy risotto and asparagus and the figure 8 stuffed Flounder. Lemme tell you...This place knows sea food. What an incredible experience. The sea bass Valentine's Day menu special was cooked to perfection. So flaked and moist. Seared and seasoned perfectly. They should add it to the main menu. The risotto was amazing. Creamy and flavorful. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The figure 8 stuffed flounder was delicious as well. The crab stuffing was absolutely great! The sauce over top was creamy and worked perfectly with the flounder and crab. It came with the most delicious fresh green beans with a couple nicely seasoned tomatoes. The rice pilaf was also really nice. Around this time I realized the Valentine's Day menu had Oysters Rockefeller ... and I love oysters Rockefeller. So I put in for an order of those. Best oysters Rockefeller I've had in a long time! Add these to the menu! For dessert... we ordered the apple crumb at vanilla bean ice cream. Perfect way to end out meal. We cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu! Save us a table! Kudos to the staff and chef / cooks. Yall did an amazing job.

We were only in Raleigh for a short family trip and wanted one memorable dinner. After reading the…read morereviews, we decided on The Crunkleton--and it exceeded our expectations. We arrived on a busy Sunday evening without a reservation and were told the wait would be about 40 minutes. Instead of simply putting us on a list, Alfredia, the host, immediately made us feel welcome. She even offered me a cup of ice water after noticing we'd walked over in the summer heat. A few minutes later, she found a way to get our family seated much sooner than expected. That small act of kindness set the tone for the entire evening. Our server, Toni, was exceptional. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic, he guided us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations. Every suggestion was spot-on, and it was obvious he knew the menu well. The food was outstanding. The Duck Flautas were a great start. The She-Crab Soup was rich and flavorful. The Wagyu Burger with caramelized onions, truffle aioli on brioche was excellent--my son says it's the best burger he's ever had. The Mediterranean Chicken Piccata was beautifully prepared with confit fingerling potatoes, charred asparagus, goat cheese, sun-dried tomato tapenade, and piccata sauce. We were so busy enjoying dinner that we completely forgot to take photos until dessert--which probably says everything. The Beignets with cold brew icing were excellent, and the warm Brownie with salted caramel ice cream was the perfect ending to the meal. What also impressed us was that Chef Jonathan stopped by our table to check on our meal, and Ravin, the General Manager, took time to welcome us personally and make sure everything about our visit was going well. We never felt rushed. Great food may bring people through the door. Great hospitality is what brings them back. The Crunkleton gave our family one of those dinners we'll remember long after the trip is over. The atmosphere is stylish without feeling pretentious, the service is genuinely warm, and it's clear that everyone there takes pride in what they do. If you're visiting Raleigh--or if you're fortunate enough to live there--I would absolutely recommend giving The Crunkleton a try. We left talking not only about how much we enjoyed the meal, but also about the people who made the evening special. Thank you to Alfredia, Toni, Chef Jonathan, Ravin, and everyone behind the scenes for making a simple family dinner into such a memorable experience. We absolutely will be back.
