The final instillation was perfectly angled and clean, I was worried that the cord for the outlet would be annoyingly visible but Marvin did a great job placing and securing the cord to make it barely noticeably. Unify is great - I got an appointment right away - they were very flexible about the scope of the work (I had some 1st generation Nest Protects that I wasn't sure if I wanted to replace or just change out the batteries). The installer arrived right on time, understood the device (believe it or not that isn't always the case), went over the final quote for the work to make sure we were in agreement before he started, did the installation, made no mess in the house and made sure everything worked on the app before he left. Randy at Unify Smart Home is THE man. I've had a Nest Thermostat, Camera, Secure, and Yale lock for a number of years and am moving them all to our new home. I've never had any issues with the Nest Thermostat, but had some initial trouble mounting the plate given some metal behind the drywall. I went to the Nest Website, requested some quotes for a thermostat install and Doorbell and Randy got back to me instantly. I was asking about the mounting, he asked me to text him a photo and he let me know it should be pretty easy, just use a drill bit and it should be fine. Sure enough no problem. Then I had an issue with the wiring (never had any issues in the past) and I called to see if he could some out for the job since I didn't want to bother with figuring out the issue with the Rc not getting any power. He said his team was all busy for about a week, but the Rc issue was probably very easy to fix, just a fuse. He said to open the furnace, find the fuse, and it would be very easy to replace, and if I had any issues to give him a ring and we could FaceTime and he could provide some assistance. I eventually found the crawl space access, climbed up, found the furnace, but could not find the fuse. I FaceTimed him (this is on a Sunday afternoon no less) and he took a look and told me where it was. In the end, a potential $100+ Nest installation (which is quite easy to do on your own) ended up being $4.50 with all the time Randy spent to walk me through my various issues (free of charge!) that guided me to Home Depot to but the fuse and quickly replace it. I was having wifi problems as usual with spectrum. Signal would always drop at the most inopportune time. With kids being home from school and trying to do schoolwork or trying to watch a movie as a family this was unacceptable. My first thought was that I needed to hard wire the whole house. I decided to give Unify a call and see what my options were. I spoke with Damien, who was just awesome through the whole process, and he suggested a mesh wifi system. I had heard of these before and you can buy and install them yourself fairly easy, but I am only semi-tech savvy, so I wanted some one with experience. We set up the appointment, Damien showed up and time and within about an hour it was up and running. The main reason I chose a professional as opposed to doing it myself is that I have lifetime guarantee with the system. If something goes wrong with it for any reason I can reach out to Damien and he will over see any problems that the system may be having. Myself being only a bit tech savvy and having something go wrong with my set up and a problem arose later, I would be stuck to my own devices. Yes, there are YouTube videos and the internet to search for answers to questions, but to know I have a go to guy a phone call away is very reassuring. We have now worked with the guys at Unify Smart Home twice, and I would think that expresses our appreciation and satisfaction with their services. First time around we went with a Google doorbell camera and iQ driveway camera. Worked out great since we already had the Google Nest Thermostat and now they all communicate and operate from the same app. Recently we added another iQ camera in our backyard and in our two year olds bedroom. We've also purchased a Google Hub from Unify and feel they are competitive with the product pricing and fair with their labor/install costs. The finished installs look great, very neat and clean. The gentlemen who installed them for us has been the same person to come to our home both times, which is very comfortable for us, and he has been super informative and thorough with setting everything up and making sure my wife and I know how to fully operate and control our system.
