Stopped by for lunch one Sunday afternoon and I ordered a cheeseburger and hubby ordered a club sandwich on rye. Both were good but not outstanding. I wouldn't be running back here for anything but this was an ok little bar. Service was friendly and attentive. Ambience is filled with happy, locals. All in all, we have nothing bad to say and we would probably come back but we might try other spots in the area first. read more

Chelsea was the bar tender the night we went, she was amazing, a friend of ours got a little too drunk, and had to be rushed to the bathroom. Chelsea kept checking on us making sure we were okay, and safe. Such a sweetheart. read more

Went with a service member to the bar, most places around here will be hesitant about accepting out of state IDs, which is understandable sometimes. The military community is pretty much the entire community so not sure why it's so common. But being understanding we hand a second form of identification the military ID which explains the out of state. The bartender was rude and informed us that she only chose to serve us because she's being "nice" but next time she won't. So wouldn't recommend. Also wasn't our first time, we enjoy visiting different bars in area so we've come here maybe 2 other times, and every time we get one drink and leave because the place is a mess. Most people are very obviously regular drunks and are over served to the point where we've seen them fall off of chairs and still be served immediately after then hop in a car and drive home. I was out and about on a Saturday in a party van with 10 friends and we stumbled across this place while searching for the Slaughter County Brewery. We loved it! Wonderful view, helpful and friendly bartender, great drinks, shot some pool and had a big table to accommodate all of us. No one in the group ate here so I can't speak for the food but the bar itself was great in our opinion. We'll be back when in the area. read more

If So, in my short time in Washington I've already made a ruckus. A lovely establishment decided to kick me out for making customers feel uncomfortable. They had no problem accepting my money but the round of applause that ensued after I gathered my things was alarming. For those who know me well, this is not something out of the ordinary for me. I draw the shortest straw in this category. I have had radio shows shut down, people fires, lawsuits filed and retracted... I've had surgery from being beat up for minding my own business. I'm missing a tooth because some dude in the west village got pissed off that I bought him pizza and didn't give him money. I'm going through a very tough time in my life and doing the best I can. I'm figuring out these bumps with my sister and her wife while I've separated myself from the love of my life and postponed our marriage. I always do my best to leave situations and places better than I found it. For selfish reasons, that mantra for me has enabled a lot of success, trust and great relationships. I'm disappointed in adults being vindictive and conniving - and juvenile when it comes to treating any person who they knowing nothing about so carelessly and hatefully. My community back in Arkansas didn't always get me or fully accept or understand, but they always had my back when things were wrong. I have a list I could spill. I'm a dreamer and I love to meet new people and experience new things. Nothing will change that. I'm sharing this because this isn't a political issue it's a societal issues. Just because I'm in NYC does not mean I will be pushed into a closet. No one puts ANYONE in the corner. And when you kick someone when they are down... that's even worse. Shame on insecure people who are out to make the world a nightmare, because that's all that it is. Should anyone want to share stories or contact the establishment, let me know. I plan to help them reestablish the way that a community should support others. Service here is awful. I come here because I enjoy the patio view. Food is not any good and they never have sufficient wait staff. Fish & chips are frozen and not very tasty. Fries are gross! They should use real potatoes and not frozen cheap food. Bartenders only focus on their regulars and ignore others. I usually tip over 20%, but not at this place anymore. read more

A quaint local bar with a great waterfront view and a patio. We stopped in on Saturday morning to try their breakfast. The local regulars were at the bar, but the bar maid was quick to seat us at a table by the window and get our drinks. The food was decent, and the fresh fruit was a nice touch. Eggs were cooked to order, too. We each had a Bloody Mary. It had a spicy kick to it and boy, they were stiff drinks. Breakfast for two and Bloody Marys was under $25. I'll be back. This is simply your average after work hang out kind of place. A couple of pool tables and karaoke on a weekly basis give you a little extra something to do while you're suckin' down your beer. When we went last night, I got a hairy navel (vodka, peach schnapps and OJ) and it was tasty and strong - no watering down the drinks here! I'm a big girl and was feeling tipsy after less than half. Five star dive bar on the waterfront. Like any dive bar, order your drinks and food at the counter unless otherwise instructed. Lots of times the cook is the bartender. Salad greens were mixed greens and not iceberg. Lots of old timers which is awesome. Great deck out back, great compared to any dive bar (so if you want Anthony's then shut up and go there instead). Great events and birthday parties are thrown here for long time customers..Staff is friendly but not im so hot you can wait for your drink friendly.. Great bar with a great sense of community. Why two stars? I love the place but I also live up on the hill that overlooks the bar and on oh so special occasions they get a live band and it sounds like they are in your living room. I wouldn't mind it honestly I am a music lover and would be so pleased if I could jam out. Unfortunately they only seem to hire dusty Cadillac and I am just going to say if I wanted to listen to something caterwaul in my living room , I'd go find a few female cats in heat and let them loose in my house if I have to hear one more s@&$$y rendition of black velvet, Tom petty or any Bonnie Raitt song played at max volume sung by what should be called dirty pinto I am gonna blow my brains out. Again another understaff bar where the waitress is also the bartender. According to the history on the menu the Hi Tide has been at that location since 1926, although the current building and tavern has only been there since the 1990's. It has a great water level view of Bremerton and the inlet, (if you can get a seat near the water). It was very busy when I went. It was an older crowd and a Bingo game broke out when I was there for dinner. The food was okay and the prices are Seattle prices. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The parking is a parking lot and even though it was crowded I was able to find a parking spot. Have I mentioned how great a view it has? read more

We were there for maybe 10-15 minutes, when the bar owner made a huge scene **Edited: I was recently informed that the "owner" I am referring to is actually an employee who was falsely claiming to be the owner**. Flipping off customers behind their backs, harassing paying customers, making accusations. It was terrible. If an owner/manager has an issue with customers, I would expect it to be handled in a professional manner (not even close to what I witnessed). What an awful experience. Hi Tide is my fave bar, ever. Fantastic, strong, generous drinks. Friendly people. A u-shaped bar so that you can sit and talk with everyone, lots of regulars there, and no offensive or scrappy behavior. Bartendresses are pretty and friendly. Food is significantly above average. We love this place and we go here fairly regularly. They have a good selection of beers and their food is great, with very generous portions. The staff is always friendly and attentive. They have live bands at times, which can make for a fun night! They have a lot of regular customers and everyone who frequents the bar is so friendly. When we meet up with friends for drinks, this is often the bar we choose to go to. I highly recommend them. read more

The Hi Tide was around in 1926. I was born in 1959, at which time my parents owned it, and it was truly a Tavern at that time. The building burned down and a new one went up... I really don't know when. I went there for coffee and pastry... the Whiskey Gulch is a great little coffee house. Nice ambiance for sure. A nice experience. Whiskey Gulch was the name of the road now called Arnold Avenue. I grew up on that road as a kid. There was a reason for that nick name. Lots of drinkers lived up that road, but the people were kind, good, and respectful. They knew the Hi Tide and the Blue Goose quite well! That was more of a history lesson. Hope you check them out! Last Sunday evening I went in to buy a drink for my husband to try but unfortunately they did not have it (an ace cider) That was understandable. So my husband ordered an angry orchard cider to not be rude and leave without buying anything. The place looked nice on the inside. But I tried to ask the bar tender questions about what they had to drink but she could not stand there a second and take my order. I was trying to be understanding and just tried my hardest to think of something good that I would like that bars tend to have but she kept telling me they did not have it (mikes hard lemonade) and kept walking away! It was incredible I've never been to a place less busy but she was acting like she was to busy for me. and on top of her being rude, she said we could not leave until we spend $10 using a card so we could not leave until I ordered! It was a Sunday evening. I'm imagining less busy than other days. I thought she could at least suggest something they did have that I might have liked but, no, she kept telling me we had to spend at least $10 so I finally I just ordered "an energy drink" (not Red Bull) and vodka that tasted horrible. so we finally left without finishing our drinks, did not tip. We like the Hi Tide! It's a kind of "down home" place. The service is always good. The prices are MORE than reasonable! The drinks aren't watered down, either. But, we did notice they don't use the higher end liquors. The food we've had there has been good as well! And the atmosphere is very comfortable. Oh, and a killer juke box as well. read more
