The staff at Whiskey Gulch has never once disappointed. They are friendly from the minute you walk in the door and even if there is a wait for a table, they go above and beyond to make sure you are welcomed and know they appreciate your business. In addition to that, their food is always crazy good. I've had some dishes I preferred over others, but I have never had a bad meal here. And some have been absolutely "write home to Ma" good, try the Bubba's Shrimp Po'Boy! This place is a true gem and deserves every one of the 5 Stars I am giving them. Tip: the outside seating is lovely, but if you can snag a spot at the bar you really should! We had a great experience at Whiskey Gulch last night and I want to highlight how well the crew reacted to several difficult situations. Our group of seven started out on the deck overlooking the channel. The rain had stopped earlier and the sun was poking out in places. Plus the inside was crowded and loud and our group was catching up with out of town relatives. The deluge started after appetizers were served. We're accustomed to a little drizzle but when the drips from the umbrellas turned into river tributaries and the thunder resumed our bedraggled party moved inside and asked for accommodations. Then the lights flickered and the power went out. Tables we're moved, extra chairs found, and a generator kicked in. We were reseated after a reasonable wait (again crowded night), and our food found us. All handled with aplomb by the slightly frazzled staff. Thanks for keeping our mini-reunion humming despite minor deck flooding and other weather chaos. read more

We've been anxious to try this place as we Just moving here. Based on the lovely waterfront location & some unique menu options we were hoping we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't... minus a couple reminders and delays. Came on a gorgeous sunny weekday at 1:30, it was pretty busy, good sign. Plenty of parking all around. There's two outdoor deck areas, luckily there were a couple tables left nearest the huge dock. We were greeted by a friendly server willing to give helpful advice, but was a bit forgetful. We started with the seafood stuffed mushrooms and onion rings plus a Hef & delicious huckleberry hard cider on tap. We had asked for waters (thirsty) upon sitting but had to remind again when ordering. Even then we didn't them until our food and beverages came out all at once, far too long, ugh. We also had to ask for S&P and place settings twice. I would think all these items should be in place once you sit down along with waters when handed your menu. The onion rings delicious but really needed salt so waiting nearly 5 minutes and food cooling fast again frustrating. But tried to overlook the small irritations when having a nice lunch outside on the water. The mushrooms rich with creamy sauce & cheese but sadly no sign of seafood visually or taste wise, disappointing at $19. I dissected one and the center was a puréed grey mixture that seemed to me mostly repurposed mushroom from hollowing them out. Real seafood wouldn't be tortured by a food processor. They were tasty but honestly not worth more than maybe $12 but did appreciate the ample baguette slices that were perfectly buttered & toasted to accompany them. Onion rings were bomb! Just a dusting of salt was perfect. The ranch sauce didn't taste homemade nor was it worth using, more oil based rather than creamy dairy based and especially lacked garlic. The chipotle sauce was better than expected, had more of a homemade flair with just enough kick. Tartar sauce was questionable, we prefer a more dill pickle flavor w/herb version. We then ordered a bowl of the popular clam chowder and the shrimp po boy w/fries to also share. The shrimp Sammy was impressive looking, a loaded saucy hoagie. The clam chowder had a slight orange hue but regardless it was absolute perfection!! No potato bacon soup here. We did request bacon on the side so we could experience the true clam goodness. The ratio of clams was impressive, the amount of nectar impressive, the addition of herbs, the nice small diced celery/potatoes properly cooked all again appreciated and done right. It's a real winner in our book of clam chowders, truly delightful. Ok and finally the southern inspired Shrimp po boy sandwich. We didn't realize it was going to be quite so spicy. I like some heat and it was getting past comfort level for me, my poor hubby was trying hard to keep eating but there was a lot of spicy sauce . Overall a flavor bomb, shrimp a tad too firm but we liked the tang from the goat cheese (nice touch) but was wishing the slaw was more present to help cool it down and add a crunch of freshness to the hot rich sauce. Pickled onion, cilantro would be good too. But we'd order again with less hot sauce more slaw. The steak fries were nicely seasoned and golden crisp. We left with our tummies happy and full. I didn't deduct my score for the couple initial annoyances or the so/called seafood mushrooms because I really want this gem to become one of our top go-to's in Pt. Orchard. Hoping the young server was new or overly busy. I love that you can also rent the top floor for special events. I just wish more seafood on the menu... fish/chips, oysters, clams. My daughter, wife, and I stopped at the Gulch for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The bartender came out from behind the bar and promptly sat us at a high-top table. The dining room had a blindingly bright view of the inlet, with most tables occupied. We ended up all ordering the same Royale with cheese burger, but each with a different side. I ordered tater tots and added bacon to the burger. My daughter got fries, and my wife got onion rings. We all enjoyed our burgers, but felt the special sauce was a little too heavy on the mustard. We arrived on a Saturday night looking for a table for 6-it was crowded but we were happily seated in the perfect alcove. Our served Jay brought us a great selection of beers and we were told that dinner was 50 minutes out. We ordered quickly and knew we would have a wait which was no big deal. Some of our friends walked outside to lii st the views which the others sat and visited. I don't think we waited 50 minutes but regardless the food was great! Would rate lower across the water but may be one of the better spots around. First impression with the service wasn't the best as the greeter avoided eye contact and grumpily seated us. Turns out he was hangry as we saw him chow down and then displayed better service to others. Our actual server was wonderful though, she checked on us often and was very helpful. WG House Party Dip - crustinis here were toasted perfectly, crispy bread with a delicateness in the center. Paired amazing with the creamy, cheesy, artichoke dip. Definitely piping hot, so burned my mouth a bit because I was excited to eat. Artichoke is generally faint in flavor so it's here for texture and healthy balance, but very delicious. 'SS' Salmon BLT - love me a salmon and love me a BLT, so this caught my eye. While pretty tasty, I think a taller salmon filet as prepared here is a nuisance to eat. Taller burgers or sandwiches tend to be annoying and the block of salmon here isn't any different, so wish there was some compression. Taste was excellent though, the salmon was tender and juicy. Bacon added nice fattiness alongside flavors and texture. Would skip this in favor of other items. Dude's Loaded Wild Mushroom - this burger was juicy! Comes with raw onions and pickles on the side which is nice because they're definitely the more controversial items. Caramelized onions in the burger add juiciness and sweetness which enhanced everything. There was an abundance of mushrooms, so definitely very loaded. They were delicious too, umami and tender. Would be inclined to order this again, safe option for those open to mushrooms. read more

Moved here about a year ago, been driving by this place every day. Tonight my wife and I stopped in really not expecting much, or so wrong. Clean, no smell, staff smiling, happy, so welcoming. We sat inside, tables a good distance apart from each other, they clearly value each customer, not each dollar. Nice patio outside over looking the water. Food, we started with artichoke dip, wow so good, cheesy, served with toast, a great shareable appetizer. Dinner I had street bang shrimp tacos, and my wife had the royal with cheese burger. Fresh cook, this is not a kitchen that is reheating or use microwave's. Their cooking staff cares. Fresh, simple and so plated, excellent. Wait staff, friendly, but not hovering, our waitress, amazing. Smiling checking in but not overwhelming. The food was very good. I had the Johnny's 3 Chili Tacos and my partner had the BLT and we both agreed the meals were delicious. However I was extremely disappointed with the Port Orchard Sour I was served. I asked for it neat rather than on the rocks to prevent the drink from watering down. It came to me at the table as a layered drink with the egg whites on top. I have never been served a drink so disgusting. When I pointed it out to our server he said it was how they served their sours and it would have been different on the rocks. He was very kind and easy to communicate with. But for a place called the WHISKEY gulch you'd assume they would be well versed in a signature whiskey cocktail like a whiskey sour and that it needs to be dry shaked with the egg whites to froth and then ice shaked for the drink to be chilled. Our server attempted to correct it and I was appreciative of that but it was evident the bartender doesn't know how to make the drinks on his cocktail menu. read more

Nice place with pubish food (i.e. burgers, fries etc.) They also had dinner salads and larger entrees. We sat at picnic benches outside overlooking the water on a beautiful day. Service was good, burgers good and drinks good. The best part was the atmosphere outside on the deck. I was a bit surprised that side dishes such as fries and onion rings were all upcharges. I hadn't noticed that on the menu, but I'm sure it was somewhere there in the "fine print". My wife and I would go again if we're in the mood for casual dining. read more

We love Whiskey Gulch. The patio in the summer months is the place to be. Their salads are huge and delicious. Burgers are legit and street tacos are fire. This time we got IPAs and French 75s. Staff is generally pretty good. The only thing is parking gets tight in that little lot. Sometimes you have to park father down the beach at the public lot but it's not a far walk. I had a delish Red Wine Poached Pear & Goat Cheese (GF, V) $20.00 Fresh pears poached in red wine, candied walnuts, heirloom tomatoes and goat cheese crumbles. O' Captain, My Captain (GF) $21.00 Blackened salmon, crispy bacon, avocado, aged blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, charred corn, pickled onion and a sliced hardboiled egg. Served with house-made honey lemon vinaigrette. It was fantastic and both very fresh salads. My hubby ordered the cheeseburger and fries and said it was great. It was a nice ambience and vibe, not crazy loud and it was relaxing. as we enjoyed the views. We could hold a conversation without obnoxious people ruining our dinner. You can go casual or a little dressed up. As a woman with long hair I like to style it and wear nice tops, jeans, boots or trendy sandals depending on the weather. There aren't a lot of places to go around here where you can go casual or dressed up. The beer was good and the lemon drop was great on the second time. Often, when a restaurant branches out to another project, the original sometimes takes a hit; not Whiskey Gulch. To celebrate another gorgeous PNW day, we had dinner on the water at Whiskey Gulch. It was stellar. Our mains were simply delicious, Reuben Sammy and Mushroom Burger; one of the best Reubens I've had in years with a perfectly cooked corned beef and perfect bread choice. Our sides were also on point with killer onion rings, perfectly seasoned fries, and a small cup of kick ass chili. Our server, Desiree was the best... Engaging, great personality, timely with her attention, and checked in when needed. Her overall attentiveness is exactly what one hopes to experience at a restaurant. Have lived in Kitsap County for 24 years and this is my first time at this establishment. I was attending a women's lunch gathering. I had never driven out on Bay Drive or I would have been familiar with the location. A table was set up, there were about 18 in the group. Our waiter Ken was outstanding!! As each person arrived he approached to take a drink order. He was funny, friendly and exhibited outstanding customer service. He managed 18 individual checks. The menu consists of a varied selection of dishes. They have a full bar if a cocktail is desired. I ordered a wedge salad. What was incredible is that all 18 orders came out at the same time. Impressive! The portions are generous. The wedge was a large piece of iceberg lettuce dressed in bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles and delicious dressing. My friend ordered a shawarma , it came with giant onion rings which she said they were amazing. The French fries were the talk of the table. They are crisp and seasoned, delicious. This restaurant sits right on the water, bright inside with windows all along the front giving diners incredible views. Look forward to coming back and sitting outside. There is parking in the front and on the side of the building. What stood out for me was the outstanding customer service , delicious food, great views and varied menu. I noticed a constant stream of customers and it was after 1 pm. This is definitely a local favorite. So glad I found this place. Whiskey Gulch has some customer service work to do!! The food looked amazing, but unfortunately, I didn't get to try it due to a complete service breakdown. While dining with a friend, I told our server I'd be placing a to-go order halfway through my drink, but he disappeared for over 45 minutes. I eventually had to flag down another server to place my order--an A mushroom burger, a Zeus salad with gyro meat, and a bacon cheeseburger(no cheese) --while also requesting a box and the check for my friend. After waiting another 25 minutes with no updates, we had to ask a third person for the check because my friend's baby was getting restless.Our original server finally returned and casually mentioned he had been on break, never having passed our table off to anyone else. When I asked about my food, he realized the second server never even entered the order into the system. He offered to "rush" the items, but after already waiting nearly 40 minutes for an order that was never started, I wasn't willing to wait another 30 minutes. It was incredibly frustrating to walk away empty-handed after spending 90 minutes dealing with a lack of basic communication and follow-through. It was a beautiful outside and was really nice to sit outside and look at the ocean, not super comfortable seats but the view makes up for it. 2 stars because my vodka lemonade was good, the staff is friendly but just all over the place and such bad communication. read more

Went here with my family while we were in town for a World Cup game and staying in Port Orchard. We came for dinner after the game and were just tired and wanted something close and easy, and Whiskey Gulch turned out to be so good! I don't remember what everyone got, but everyone loved their food. I got the shrimp tacos and they were excellent, and I also got a cocktail that was really good (I don't remember, some sort of sour maybe?). Definitely recommend Whiskey Gulch! read more

We arrived on a Friday around noon, place was super busy but Michael (bar tender) greeted us at door and sat us. He was very enthusiastic and recommended food and drinks. During our stay he checked on us multiple times, made sure we had drinks and was one of the best servers we've ever had. He recommended the cucumber lemon drop to for me, delicious! I took my mother to Whiskey Gulch on Sunday because she loves these kinds of Bar & Grills. We were not disappointed. I am grateful that the restaurant has parking not only to the side, but at the front. The side parking was full, so we would have had a lengthy walk had it not been for the strip of spaces along the front. The restaurant has a lovely view of the water and kitschy, hip decorations. Our servers were friendly, attentive, and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Being a stick-in-the mud, I ordered coffee. Nonna Diane opted for a whiskey drink called Smoke and Blood. She enjoyed it and got a kick out of the presentation. Because it was our first time, we were offered a free starter. We picked the Irish Eggrolls. These are excellent. If you are in the area and looking for a St. Patrick's Day spot, Whiskey Gulch also has a Reuben which can be paired with these. They were flavorful, crisp, and the corn beef was juicy. The burgers come with potato chips unless you add on another side like fries, tots, or onion rings. There are also other menu options like salads, tacos, and sandwiches. Some options are vegetarian. I selected the Royale with Cheese and added on fries. Nonna Diane had a burger called the Afterschool Special, which has a peanut butter sauce. Both burgers seemed to use a char-broil cooking method. Although my burger was the simpler option, it was very satisfying, and it was comforting to know that it also exists in France. We look forward to visiting again soon. read more
