This place has been our "go-to" recently while we wait for our son to finish practice so we've been here once or twice a week for the last few months. It's generally pretty slow which blows my mind because it's one of the nicer downtown establishments. Great atmosphere, lots of TVs and very clean. We've had their pizza and cheese bread (which comes from Dino's next door) on multiple occasions and it's delicious. Never had a bad pizza. Had breakfast a few times and my husband said the biscuits and gravy was great. I ordered just a classic eggs, sausage and hashbrowns which was tasty too however they did get my eggs wrong. Still tasted great just not how I ordered so didn't say anything. The guy who is behind the bar regularly provides such great service and is a very nice guy. We've never had a bad experience with any of the other waitresses either. I went in once by myself and they kept me company while I ate which is always nice. Wednesday's is open mic night and it does get a little loud so not great for conversations but if you're into that kinda thing it looks fun. Overall a great place! read more

It started out that they didn't even have all the food on the menu and the food they had it was just OK. However, the surface was absolutely terrible. They spilled food all over the place never checked on anything and weren't even ready when we were ready to pay. They didn't have a pen. I will never darken this place again. read more

Stopped by Blue Goose Tavern for breakfast and was genuinely impressed. I ordered the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs, wheat toast, and their house potatoes. The steak came out hot and perfectly cooked, smothered in a savory country gravy that hit all the right notes. It was rich and flavorful without being overly salty like others I've had. The eggs were done to perfection, and the house potatoes were a standout: crispy on the outside, hot and fluffy inside, and seasoned just right. If you're a fan of potato skins, you'll definitely want to try them. The interior was clean and cozy, and there's a great view of the waterfront that adds to the experience. Service was excellent. Reviewing for pizza next door called Dino's Pizza (same owners/company) but I couldn't find Dino's Pizza on Yelp. Real quaint, cozy little pizza restaurant. I really liked their pizza! Plenty of toppings. Perfect ration between cheese, toppings, dough/crust. One thing to note is we built our own (pepperoni, bacon, pineapple and Jalapeños) they forgot the jalapeños & we didn't want to send it back to wait for another pizza to be made. We were still charged for it on the receipt but we let our server know and it was easily taken off. My BF said it reminded him of a pizza place that used to be in Bremerton called Pietros (I had never been) and he claims it was like, the best ever. So that's something to consider if you ever had the pleasure of dining at Pietros. Anyways, would come back if ever in the mood for pizza. read more

I've had their wings before and they were moist, crispy on the outside but just enough and very tasty. I looked forward to enjoying them for dinner all day. You can imagine my disappointment when tonight's order was a dry, tough, stringy, overcooked mess. They were so bad my cat wouldn't even eat the chicken I pulled off and gave him.....bad. My husband and I tried Blue Goose Tavern this morning as recommended by Kitsap dining Facebook group. It was SO good. To start, the location is perfectly placed with a gorgeous view of the water in Port Orchard and is bright and welcoming. The bar tender/waitress this morning was a very delightful first impression, the food was just as great! I ordered the breakfast burrito. Under $10 for a huge freshly packed burrito! The cheese sauce is also addictive! My husband had a super quality chicken fried steak. He gets these all over Kitsap and said this was one of the top ones he has had, I agree. The breading was super light and delicious as was the overall meal. Deceivingly heavy looking but overall 10/10! We will be back! read more

Clean, sporty, friendly atmosphere. Last min closure today as they kindly hosted SKHS 50th Class reunion after their original venue closed down unexpectedly. Despite closing for this special event in 45 min, they created us and served quickly. The food was excellent. Steamed clams had great garlicky bread for siping and a zesty broth. Stopped by for a fall Hot Coffee Nudge and got a cinnamon roll to go with it OMG To die for. I have heen thinking about it all week. It was so good I am going back to get some for my staff meeting for a suprise . I did take 1/2 home they are big and YUMMY! I ordered at the bar dinner to go. The service was fine. The environment was fine. The food was a disappointment. I ordered a burger, and expected it would be cooked. I guess that was setting my expectations too high. I wasn't asked how I like my burger and what I got, I would consider rare. The burger was also so greasy, that by the time I got home (5-10 minutes after receiving my food) the bottom was too soggy to eat. Made my first trip to the Blue Goose yesterday and left super happy. Cobb salad was very good and the spicy ranch dressing had an awesome kick. The wait staff (Angelica) was fun, fast and friendly. I've visited Blue Goose a handful of times. The bartenders are nice and attentive, drinks are good and reasonably priced, but the food leaves much to be desired. Salads are overpriced, mainly consists of iceberg lettuce, over ripped tomatoes, and no flavor. The grits for the shrimp and grits are overcooked, unseasoned, and lumpy. I definitely like the place, it's clean, friendly ambiance, good drinks and service but the food is mediocre. read more

My wife and have been a native to the area for about 11 years now and never ventured into this tavern. We aren't really bar people so we didn't see a reason to go. About a year ago the place did some remodeling and we decided to give this place a try since have eaten pretty much at all the places in this town. We stopped in for lunch and shared the Ruben sandwich which was really tasty. Probably the best one in town!. We were both really impressed. The service was really nice and attentive to the patrons inside. We decided to go again for dinner last week and again we were blown away. We ordered the Philly cheese steak with onion rings. So good. It was really slow to so no loud jibber jabber from other people so my wife and I could actually have a conversation. If you haven't gone I suggest you give this place a try. read more

Thought this could be an interesting place to stop for lunch, almost no one was in the building but as soon as my wife and I entered with our sleeping baby we were told to leave because of the 21+ age restriction. What a special place! I never feel compelled to write an extensive review but this place deserves it. If you are lucky you will get to meet Frank the owner who has remodeled this special bar mostly by himself. From what I heard this place used to be a true dive bar. Not anymore. He took the old shuffleboard and made it into a long table that a big group of friends or friendly strangers can sit and enjoy the 7 very large televisions. The prices are very fair. I had the goose grits and eggs for only $9.29! Let me tell you those grits are delicious and like nothing you have ever had. The staff is very friendly. Attached to this bar there is going to be a family friendly pizza joint coming soon. While we live in Tacoma and were fortunate to hear of this place from a Facebook ad, we will be making a trip out here from time to time to support this awesome owner. Blue Goose is open again and the remodel is great. Probably the nicest spot in P.O. perfectly set up for watching sports playing a game of pool or having a cocktail. The staff are spot on. I was driving by and noticed the Open sign is lit. Sat at the bar, was immediately greeted by Chenise who took my beverage order. I perused the breakfast and regular nenu and decided on the "Game Day Hot Dog and Fries" with grilled onions as an upgrade. It came to me me on. An oval plate , the grilled dog is longer than an average hot dog, split in the center and (flat)grilled to perfection. The bun to dog ratio is reference perfection. The bun also toasted to perfection. If that tifecta of perfection isnt enough to suit you, the grilled onions, although not necessary, took it over the top. The friees wera also, shall I say, perfectly fried crispy on the outside with a delicate creamy potato inside. I had then with ketchup and mayo. Overall I rate the opening day hot dog and beverage experience a Spinal Tap approved 11 out of 10. I find exactly zero need to make a hot dog at home if this place is open. I was out and about yesterday in a party van with 10 friends and I asked about this place at a nearby bar and was told not to go there, there'd be drug activity, sketchy people, etc. One guy in our group said we needed to judge it for ourselves and we were glad we did. It was totally tame and seemed clean and well ran. We did have a token annoying drunk guy we couldn't shake, but we had that at other bars too. Great shuffle board tables. Let me start by saying that this place has a lot of potential going for it. The quality of the tables, chairs, and TVs speak for themselves. I have now gone twice to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. My first visit was with my friend. Early dinner. Let's just say we are a couple of "old ladies". We were greeted warmly by the gal behind the bar when we entered. She greets everyone with a smile and kind hello. I ordered a cup of chili with a grilled cheese sandwich. My friend had a open face shrimp sandwich with the stadium fries. My chili was very good but was served barely warm. It really should have been served much hotter. My friend's shrimp sandwich didn't look appetizing at all, and it too was served just warm. We asked if our plates could be zapped in the microwave to heat them a little hotter. No problem. We waited quite a bit, and I was beginning to wonder if they even had a microwave. Food was brought out then and it looked like I was given a new, fresh cup of chili. Maybe they had to heat the whole pot? Anyway, it's very good and satisfying on a cold wet night. The grilled cheese was crispy, with a good amount of cheese. Tasty too. It's supposed to be served on sourdough bread. Born and raised in the San Francisco area all my life prior to moving here, I have to say.... that's not true sourdough. I've only found two brands carried in this area that pass as good sourdough bread. Maybe leave the "sourdough" name off the menu? Alas, even having her sandwich warmed, did not make it more edible. My friend loved the fries though. Left the sandwich uneaten. 2nd visit: Brought the hubby to watch some football at the bar. Same gal greeted us warmly and encouraged us to have a seat. We sat at the far left in front of a TV to watch the football game. Want to add here, that the seats at the bar are so comfortable! Being an older woman with a large butt, I can really appreciate the padding! We ordered some wings and a couple of beers. However, sitting there I was very distracted by the brightness of the kitchen. Maybe they can install some swinging doors placed high to block out that super bright light.....just a suggestion here. Or, if you sit at the bar, don't sit to the far left. The wings were soooo good. Buffalo flavor. Debated ordering a second order to try another sauce (they will not split an order to give you two different sauces) but opted to try a cheeseburger and fries. They state on the menu that the cheeseburger is 6 ounces. I can't really picture 6 ounces. I've noticed here in WA that most places will overcook a burger. Almost every time I eat one, it's been way overcooked and ends up dry. I asked to have the meat cooked medium rare so as to have it juicy. Nope, burger cooked to death as usual. To be fair, the paddy was 6 ounces, and on the thin side. Pretty hard to cook to medium rare given the thickness. But, it did taste good, and the bun was very fresh with a good amount of cheese and condiments. The stadium fries (fries with garlic) were very tasty but could have been fried just a bit longer for a better crunch. Reading this, you're probably thinking, dang girl! you are so picky! Well, yes, I am. Remember, I'm from the SF Bay Area where the food is sooo good. I miss the food there very much. Not only that but going out for a couple of beers and something to eat is not as cheap as what it used to be. The prices here are in line with most places. Their menu has a good variety of choices. Did I like the chili? Yes! Did I like the grilled cheese? Yes! Wings? Yes! Fries? Yes! Kitchen just needs to do a little tweeking. I will be back and look forward to trying some other things on the menu. I really like the place and the vibe it has to offer. What's really nice is that they have a small outdoor patio in the front that will be nice to enjoy with my dog come summer. Oh, there is one other thing I noticed. Went to use the restroom. My new favorite PO place. New, clean, fresh and beautiful inside. Had a great breakfast here last week to watch the King tide across the street. Brought the wife here today for lunch and it was great. Best French Dip sandwich I have had in years, accompanied with nice crispy fries. Wife had the BLTA which she loved. Great, friendly service. Pretty chill bar to go to. Caters towards middle-agers, but but you'll find a mix of people. Staff is friendly. Love the different games and karaoke. Ordered the cheese burger with salad. Definitely get your money's worth. It was a good burger. I don't expect anything more or less of the food at the bar. But it was good bar food.
