I love this place from the small town rustic decor diner feel to the large home style comfort food menu. The staff are super friendly always smiling, everything looks delicious, super fast service also, they were a little busy but very efficient. Cant wait to go try other menu items!

Stopped for lunch on our way through Lincoln. Wanted lunch fare in a quick restaurant style way. This was perfect. You order at the counter, find your table, then your meal is delivered to your table. We wanted a soup salad or soup half sandwich type lunch. They didn't have that on the menu, instead we ordered a full club sandwich with a cup of soup on the side plus an extra cup of soup, Wah-lah soup and half a sandwich for two. Sandwich was good. Lots of turkey, crispy bacon, fresh veggies. Soup was good as well, curly egg noodles and chicken. Refillable fountain soda as well so we got one for the road. Loved the old time coolers, ovens, toys, etc that they had all around. Fun retro-vibe spot.

I am guessing this is where the locals go. Appears to be who the other customers are here. Our first time. So the process is walk up and request what one likes to have and special requests seem acceptable. Perfect! So I have asked for burned brown/black pancake and hash browns with 2 eggs over medium. Pecan pie warmed to start. And pie is ok. Pancake is perfect to my specs, as is the hash browns. Maybe a first anywhere. I like everything about this. The best basic breakfast place I have been for while.

If you're looking for a classic, old-fashioned diner experience, look no further than Hi-Way Diner in Lincoln, Nebraska. This place has all of the charm and comfort food you could want, with a fun retro vibe that transports you back in time. From the old-time coolers and ovens to the vintage toys and décor, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. One of the things that makes Hi-Way Diner special is its motto: "Don't Ask, Just Believe." This is a fun way of saying that they're determined to give you a great meal no matter what. And with over 30 years of experience, they've certainly got the skills to back it up. One of their signature offerings is the "3rd egg free" deal. This means that if you order a breakfast platter with two eggs, you'll get a third one for free. It's a great way to start the day and really fills you up. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can try the "magic toast." When asked what the magic was, we were simply told "don't ask, just believe." If you're looking for a place to study or work while you eat, Hi-Way Diner has you covered. They offer free Wi-Fi for customers, so you can sit and enjoy your meal while you get some work done or catch up on emails. And if you're more of a social butterfly, you can always come in for Sunday morning breakfast with the regulars. Just be warned, there's usually a bit of a crowd around that time. Of course, the real star of the show at Hi-Way Diner is the food.which they have had over 39 years to perfect. They offer all of your favorite comfort foods, like burgers, fries, and onion rings. But if you're in the mood for something a little more substantial, try the HAYSTACK. This is a hearty breakfast platter with two eggs over hash browns, sausage gravy, and, of course, the magic toast. It's a filling and satisfying meal that will keep you going for hours. And don't forget about dessert! Hi-Way Diner has some of the best homemade pies, cheesecake, and shakes around. And if you're in the mood for something cool and refreshing, they also offer soft serve ice cream in a variety of flavors. All in all, Hi-Way Diner is a fantastic spot for anyone who wants to experience a classic, old-fashioned diner atmosphere. The food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the retro vibe is a fun way to escape from the everyday grind. So the next time you're in Lincoln, Nebraska, don't pass up a chance to visit Hi-Way Diner. Happy eating Yelpers!

I told my cousin about my love for local spots and he nailed with with the beautiful Hi-Way Diner, a longtime Lincoln staple. The breakfast was top notch American and the history is still alive. I had a classic two eggs with hash browns and meat breakfast and my bacon came perfectly crispy, as requested. The hash browns were browned to perfection and my daughter loved her half order of eggs Benedict. You order at the counter, pick up your utensils and sauces yourself, but don't let that fool you. The service is high level and the coffee is always full. Thanks Hi-Way for hanging in there! You're so worth it!

It took awhile for someone to notice us as we stood at the host desk. Everyone was bustling around minding their own business. I think we stood there for about 8 minutes or so. Finally someone acknowledged us and seated us. Our server was pretty good he brought us the drinks pretty quickly. I ordered unsweetened ice tea. We did wait awhile for our meal. It was a busy day. Hubby ordered 2-2 combo. I ordered cod fish sandwich. His food came he pretty much liked it but felt that his pancakes had been sitting for awhile. But still good and he finished his plate For me, my fries were not piping hot and oversalted. The brioche bun look good but appears to have been over toasted- it was hard. The saving grace was the cod fish. It was nicely crisp. And flakey on the inside. Overall for me... a 3.5 And since I can't put half numbers I'll give it a 4 still Will I be back? Maybe .. but I won't be ordering sandwiches and burgers. I'll go foe the breakfast instead

For many years, The Eatery has been a fixture in east-central Lincoln. I'd heard plenty of positive…read morecomments about the restaurant over the years, so I finally decided to stop in for lunch and see what it was all about. Unfortunately, the first impression could use some improvement. Upon entering, guests step into a small lobby with two interior doors--one designated as the entrance and the other as the exit. Once inside, a host greets you, hands you a menu, and escorts you to your table. Along the way, you pass the restaurant's salad bar, which should serve as an inviting showcase of the food offered inside. Instead, the salad bar was the low point of my visit. On the day I was there, it appeared messy and poorly maintained. A salad bar requires constant attention to keep it looking fresh, attractive, and clean, and that simply wasn't the case during my visit. Given its prominent location, it creates an impression that management should work harder to improve. The Eatery's menu, however, is extensive and impressive. There's truly something for everyone. The unlimited salad bar is priced at $14.99, or $7.99 when added to an entrée. Based on what I observed, that seemed a bit steep, so I decided to pass. Instead, I ordered the Smokey Chicken Stacker with fries on the recommendation of my server. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The sandwich was flavorful, the fries were perfectly prepared, and the meal arrived at my table less than ten minutes after ordering--a testament to an efficient kitchen. Overall, I came away believing that The Eatery serves solid food, but the décor, atmosphere, and overall layout feel somewhat dated and uninspiring. The appearance of the salad bar was the biggest negative of the experience for me. Would I return? If I lived or worked in the neighborhood, probably yes. However, since I don't, it's unlikely that I would make a special trip back.
