Food is great but service is slow. It's a family buisness for sure so can't complain much about that. It feels homey in there

This place is one of the best hole in the wall breakfast joints I've ever stumbled upon! The staff were so kind and attentive, the small space felt so welcoming and homey, and the food was PHENOMENAL. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and they did not disappoint. The cook sat down to take my order, gave helpful suggestions as I was a first timer, and remembered me by name. I highly recommend Woodees!

What a great little spot which I would say is a local hang out and great breakfast spot. I would recommend this place when you are in town. Great friendly service with food to match.

Lol! We would show you the food- but we scarfed it ALL down!

We drive from California to a Omaha and back about every six months - this is DEFINITELY a place you should stop if you can. The bacon is SO midwest - LOVE it! The food is awesome- the people are awesome- the price is awesome! We will see you all in another six months! Thanks for filling us up for the long drive!

Great food and a sense of humor. The "Woodee" is two eggs, choice of meat, hash browns or a darn good pancake plus toast!!

What a great spot. Neighborhood restaurant vibe with mature, high functioning staff. Great food, great prices, great service. Appeared to have many regular customers. I definitely would be one if I lived in Lincoln.

Veggie omelet. Stuff with hash browns. Did I eat that? Yep.

Hometown kind of restaurant. Friendly, fast & fun service. Great prices. Nothing fancy, but worth the time to stop and enjoy.

We had Brussels sprouts and calamari for appetizers. Both dishes were crispy and had great flavor. The sprouts had a sweet balsamic glaze which complimented the earthiness well. The calamari had an airy, crispy breading and a plethora of sauces to choose from for dipping, my favorite being the cocktail sauce which was savory and tangy. For the entree I had a lettuce wrapped cheeseburger and I was really impressed. The beef was juicy and fresh while the condiments were fresh as well. The fries were so good, too! They were crispy, seasoned well and tasted amazing with the ranch. For dessert we had crème brûlée, YUM! The sugar coating was a perfect amount of waxy and sweet, and balanced well with the vanilla custard. The custard was creamy, decadent and super satisfying. The vibe of the restaurant is homey, upscale and warm, great place for a celebration or date night.

I strongly recommend making a reservation online. We had one, but still had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a table. The food and experience was worth the wait.

Last minute decision to eat out …read more Hubby picked L's kitchen. We were seated almost immediately. ** reservations required thursdays, fridays and saturdays ** We were lucky today. We managed to walk in and get a table. We love the vibe. It's very cozy reminding me of a small french cottage. Clean and cozy. We don't drink but they do have an excellent selection of wines. And they do offer cocktails, soda and iced tea Hubby and I have gone non alcoholic and we chose ice tea. We had salmon cakes for appetisers, it came out quick Delicious crispy. Hubby's salad came out pretty much the same time. It looked delicious and fresh. Combination of vegetables and tomatoes, croutons and dried cranberries and cheese make the salad look delectable and it didnt disappoint. We both took awhile to decide what we wanted. Every dish looked delicious. We finally decided on steak and meatloaf. My meatloaf is to die for. The meatloaf was juicy and had crispy edges with anice tomato sauce on top on a base of mashed potato. The asparagus was perfectly sauteed. Tender not overly done. We then ordered desserts. Hubby ordered the brownie and I got the strawberry mousse. The brownie was light and delicate yet decadent. Let me explain- the brownie is light like a lava cake its a cross between a brownie and a lava cake. Absolutely delish!! It was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My strawberry mousse was delicious - light and tasted of strawberry fields on a cloud Overall, we will definitely be back. Blown away!!!

We pulled up to this quaint little place in a quiet neighborhood and walked in. We noticed the sign outside that said reservations only, but we noticed a couple of empty tables so we went in and asked for a table for 2. The young made a quick check if the dining room and 1 quick check of the reservation book and looked at us to say sure thing, this way please The whole restaurant is quite small, with a nice bar area, and tables that fill it out. I had the beef filet it was served with butter roasted potatoes and asparagus And we started with the salmon cakes. The salmon was flavorful and tasted wonderfully. The beef was cooked nice and cut like cake. It was wonderful. I finished with the house made brownie that was served with ice cream It was an awesome cross between brownie and lava cake. Incredible I can't say enough about L's kitchen. Perfect timing, our anniversary is tomorrow. Hightly recommend but make a reservation

For many years, The Eatery has been a fixture in east-central Lincoln. I'd heard plenty of positive…read morecomments about the restaurant over the years, so I finally decided to stop in for lunch and see what it was all about. Unfortunately, the first impression could use some improvement. Upon entering, guests step into a small lobby with two interior doors--one designated as the entrance and the other as the exit. Once inside, a host greets you, hands you a menu, and escorts you to your table. Along the way, you pass the restaurant's salad bar, which should serve as an inviting showcase of the food offered inside. Instead, the salad bar was the low point of my visit. On the day I was there, it appeared messy and poorly maintained. A salad bar requires constant attention to keep it looking fresh, attractive, and clean, and that simply wasn't the case during my visit. Given its prominent location, it creates an impression that management should work harder to improve. The Eatery's menu, however, is extensive and impressive. There's truly something for everyone. The unlimited salad bar is priced at $14.99, or $7.99 when added to an entrée. Based on what I observed, that seemed a bit steep, so I decided to pass. Instead, I ordered the Smokey Chicken Stacker with fries on the recommendation of my server. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The sandwich was flavorful, the fries were perfectly prepared, and the meal arrived at my table less than ten minutes after ordering--a testament to an efficient kitchen. Overall, I came away believing that The Eatery serves solid food, but the décor, atmosphere, and overall layout feel somewhat dated and uninspiring. The appearance of the salad bar was the biggest negative of the experience for me. Would I return? If I lived or worked in the neighborhood, probably yes. However, since I don't, it's unlikely that I would make a special trip back.

When you walk in, you are hit with the smell of fresh burgers and sides being prepared in front of you. It's a counter order style restaurant where you order first then sit and collect your food after. We tried a little of everything during this visit: Burgers, Sweet potato fries and Parmesan truffle fries. The burger was definitely the star of the show. The Reading Rainbow has a hearty portion of peanut butter on it, combined with their version of jelly, making this burger extremely filling. Now to the fries, and reason for 4 stars. Both of our fries arrived a little cooler than I would expect for freshly made items. The sweet potato fries were crispy, yet lacked flavor. The truffle fries were disappointing. They were very dry and had what seemed like seasoning and cheese dumped in the container. I'd expect some oil for the "truffle" label, but there appeared to be none. Overall, I'd be willing to give Honest Abe's another try for their sides and try another burger to see how it compares!
