They took me INSIDE. Through the restaurant. And out the other side into this absolutely fantastic hidden courtyard. Excuse me?? Why did nobody tell me we had upgraded accommodations? The back patio is one of those spaces you'd never know existed from the street. There are stone walls, greenery climbing everywhere, strings of lights overhead and some seriously cool artwork and murals. It feels tucked away from the bustle of Old Montreal and, once the lights came on, had a really warm, relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly, nobody seemed remotely concerned that a tiny Italian Greyhound had joined the dinner party. I was welcomed right in. Mum ordered the trout over couscous, which looked extremely impressive. She did give me some of the trout. Dad ordered the steak frites. I repeat: Dad ordered steak. At a dog-friendly restaurant. While sitting next to a dog. He did not share. I feel like we've covered this issue before. Dad had wine, Mum had a Diet Coke, and I spent much of dinner curled up comfortably with Mum while monitoring the steak situation. There were developments. None favorable to me. But Wolf & Workman is exactly the kind of place we're always hoping to find when traveling: somewhere the humans don't have to compromise on having a genuinely great dinner just because I'm with them. This wasn't simply "there are a couple of tables outside where you can put the dog." I got the good patio. Dogba's verdict: 5 paws out of 5. Dog welcome: enthusiastic Surprise hidden courtyard: exceptional Murals: excellent photo opportunities Evening atmosphere: Mum approved Mum's trout: apparently delicious Dad ordering steak in my presence: provocative Wine for Dad: yes Steak for Dogba: I'd prefer not to discuss it Would absolutely return. Although next time, when someone says Wolf & Workman, I expect considerably more attention to the wolf portion of the clientele.

We started with a flight, and after one of the four didn't taste right, the waiter let us switch that out for another one...which then ended up being my wife's favorite. She then got a pint of that lager, while I got a pint of the red. Both were delicious. I ordered the smoked meat poutine, which was glutinous but also amazing. The flavors together were wonderful. My wife had a veggie burger with fries. While a bit messy, she also thought it was very good. Service was friendly and around when we needed it. After eating, we walked inside and around the taproom and windows where you can see the brewing area. Highly recommend!

Our first day in Montreal and we were walking down the street looking for lunch. We stumbled on…read moreKYK's and liked the look of this classic pub. So in we go! There was a nicely selected set of local beers on the menu. We had a few and they were great. I won't detail them as I think the selection changes routinely. It was tough to decide what to get. I was poutine-curious but was unsure about the foie gras gravy. Andrew ordered the poutine with the duck confit. He loved it and said it was among the best poutine he has had. I went for the traditional mussels as Andrew said this is a thing to get in Montreal, they will do it well. He was right, the bowl was huge and the mussels and sauce were excellent. The only thing I would change is I like a baguette with mussels more than fries so if that is an available substitution I would be all in. I loved this place, I would go back again when I return to Montreal.

NYKS has a proper Guinness pint, which I can appreciate. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the fish and chips. Both were AMAZING. The French onion soup was good, hot, very beefy. The place really cleared out by the time we were done at eight, so might recommend coming later if you don't want to wait. Overall, great place. I would definitely recommend.

It has 3 slices of ham (good and cooked in maple syrup I think), crispy bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans and breakfast potatoes. The eggs were runny and solid at the same time which I didn't like while the potatoes were seemingly undercooked on the inside but fried on the outside. Their sausages were alright. Basically, only the beans, bacon and ham were good. The duck poutine beer sauce was delicious but heavy as you can imagine. The beet salad was fresh and nicely marinated. They offer a generous pint sized glass of cider based mimosas. On weekends, they offer an all you can eat breakfast for $35 with up to 10 drinks. Weather was giving fall glory this weekend in Montreal. I wanted to enjoy it with a burger, a beer,…read moretop notch fries, and a breeze on my skin. Found this place in a Reddit thread and the Yelp pics sold me. Huge beer spot - the dining room had multiple expanses all leading out to an inviting deck and patio area. Outdoors seating can be a miss for me sometimes since restaurants don't always include seating to fit a wide variety of bottoms but Vices et Versa nailed it! There were small wooden chairs and also long bench/pew seating as well as some smaller standalone benches. Perfect. The beer list was excellent - you already know I got the sour and my husband got a framboise. I knorrrr! My tarty fruity sour vibes are finally starting to wear him down muahahahhaha Ahem. Anyway. Food: I got the bacon burger with fries. He got the spicy chicken thigh sandwich with fries. Let's talk about those fries. Crispy outside, pillowy inside. Yeeesssssss. And Montreal serves them as they should be done - WITH MAYO!! The waiter even took one look at the half full mayo cup that came with my burger and said he'd top it off for me. He gets it. He gets me. I know this place must be rocking on a weekend - if so - 100% worth the wait. Fantastic. On street parking is plentiful compared to other parts of the city. We were already exploring the area so it seemed like a natural fit, so off we went. My general assessment of Else's is that it is more of a neighborhood spot than a destination eatery, which is totally fine because usually those are some of the best spots. Upon entry, we were greeted by a large open dining area with tables scattered throughout and a bar along one of the back walls. The decor is casual, with a dark color scheme to match the bar setting. Their drink menu is larger than their food menu, but despite that they have a nice variety. I didn't see any pattern with the food - there was a mix of plate sizes and types of cuisines. The pulled pork sliders looked good so I went with those; the dish came with two sliders and a side of coleslaw. I really enjoyed this - there was a generous helping of pork in each slider and the sauce had a nice tang to it. I'm normally not a fan of slaw since it is usually cream-based, but this one wasn't so it was quite refreshing and a good contrast to the pork. Service was great, the entire team was friendly. Overall, this was a really good find in Montreal - if you're looking for something low-key with solid food then this would be ideal. I'm interested how the vibe changes at night, so I would be open to returning in the evening for a drink and to explore more of their menu.
