    Steak Hibachi Takeout
    Coco R.

We have finally found out favorite hibachi restaurant! The food is very generous and very tasty. We ordered takeout when we got there and it was ready in less than 10 minutes! We got their delicious ginger sauce and white sauce on the side as well. The service was very friendly and we are very happy customers!

Hibachi Shrimp with extra vegetables no rice

One of my favorite quick grabs in Wake Forest is Hibachi Japan. Shrimp hibachi plate and a chicken and steak hibachi plate, both with extra vegetables instead of rice. Of course, not pictured is the always important white sauce. Wait time isn't bad and if I call it in the food is ready in the quoted amount of time.

    Hibachi with scallops

This place was pretty good. I got the scallop hibachi. The scallops were tender although appeared to have been cut in half and were very thin. Would have preferred them whole. I didn't love all the sauce they used to cook with scallops and veggies in before serving. It was sweet and too much in my opinion. With that said, it was a lot of food, the staff was very friendly and the take out process was seamless. I would go back for sure and maybe ask them to go easy on whatever sauce/marinade they use to cook with.

Sooo I use to work at the rent a center establishment right next to this restaurant and I came here for a simple egg roll and hibachi but WHEN I TAKE A CHUNK OUT OF MY EGGROLL ITS A PIECE OF S USED CRUMBLED NAPKIN IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. I'm highly disgusted and I'm not letting this go

    Specials that are all day

This place is great! I've never had a bad experience. The food is always hot and gets to you in a timely manner. I love the all day $6.99 specials as well as all the white sauce you want at no charge!!!

Food is amazing though a bit pricey. Not too much experience with staff as I normally order ahead, ready at a good pace.

Food was dry and steak was fake and almost thought it was beef. I would totally recommend Kanki or Yummi Japan for some better food.

Our server, Dawn, was easily one best servers I've had in a long time. Knowledgeable about the menu, made a point to explain everything and no questions were too obscure. We had a variety of dishes, and out of everything the pork schnitzel wasn't really a schnitzel if you've ever had one in Germany, it was more like a breaded, fried bone-in pork chop, really good but not a traditional schnitzel. The asparagus, the risotto, the pasta, the chicken were all absolutely superior. The stars were the appetizers, especially the kung pao fried Brussels, those are a meal by themselves, some of the best I've ever had! The fried burrata cheese, worth the drive to Wake Forest. Their Cherry cobbler one word: YUM! The Farm Table is a roomy restaurant with tables well suited for family style dining and while a bit loud, certainly not uncomfortably so Totally recommended and thank me later for those Brussel Sprouts!

I had the opportunity to go back about a month ago in hopes to purchase my meats for the week. After looking around and deciding what to buy, I noticed the shrimp prices was what I thought a good price, so I automatically knew I was going to purchase some. I told the butcher I wanted 4 lbs of lime shrimp but, when he rang them up the price wasn't the same as what was on the black board sitting on the side of the shrimp bowl. I questioned the butcher why did they have the price on the bowl if it's not the real price. He said ma'am you can clearly see that the first number has been rubbed off, well no sir I didn't. This is my second time in the store and the first time I came I didn't purchase anything and that I was not familiar with their store. And really the shrimps could have been marked down how was I supposed to know. . I questioned him because the bowl was inside the glass case. How did just one number get rubbed off. The moral of the story. He would NOT HONOR the price that clearly I didn't change because it's inside the glass door. I think you lost more by not honoring the price versus me walking out not buying nothing after having a basket full and I had planned to sign up for the meat of the month. Wake Forest store

Shannon was humorous, kind and explained the menu very thoroughly so that we understood. In addition, he asked us what brought us to Amalia's and catered to our occasion. While we were in town for a wedding, we also were celebrating some home wins as well which Shannon took note of and gave us complimentary drinks at the end of our evening which was so kind. We started our evening off with some NA mocktails made in house which resembled a mojito. There were fresh strawberries and a lime wedge on top of the cup. I appreciated that this drink wasn't overly sugary and was the perfect blend of refreshing we needed especially after a flight. From there, we got complimentary house bread which was outstanding as it contained oil and onions baked in. Delicious! Shannon explained the menu was tapas style or small plate. We lead with the zucchini appetizer which had pistachios on top and were given suggestions on how to eat it. We went with the sushi method and ended up rolling the thinly sliced zucchini with a fork and it was perfect!! A very fun experience and such a unique menu option. For our main dishes, my husband has the steak and mashed potato special while I had the truffle cavatelli with sausage. Both items were out of this word and the perfect portion size. Shannon knew we loved the bread and brought us more to our table even though I'm fairly certain that is supposed to be for the beginning of the coursing. While our bellies were too stuffed for dessert right then and there, we did get cannolis to go and they are currently up in our fridge. We look forward to trying! We were able to see the other patrons order dinner in house and the entire layout is a production. If you have the chance and room for dessert, I highly recommend because the staff prepares it for you at your table. In addition, there are lovely coffee pairings with each dessert as an option as well. **Note: Amalia's does not carry red sauce. Many of the pastas are white sauce by design. This was not a deal breaker for us but it might be for someone else. Thank you, Amalia's! You were exactly the Italian cuisine we craved!

After running errands, we drove just six minutes to El Chapin, a Guatemalan restaurant. Forget Tex-Mex--this is a completely different Latin cuisine experience. The two of us spent $76 (including tax and tip), but we intentionally ordered extra to take home leftovers. Parking was easy, right out front, and the restaurant itself is spacious. Since we arrived just a few minutes after opening, we had the place to ourselves at first and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and very helpful--the server even suggested we might have ordered too much food (he was right, but we didn't mind!). Here's what we tried: Plato Chorizo y Longaniza - a sausage platter with salad, rice, refried black beans, and two delicious housemade corn tortillas. Pollo Adobado - marinated chicken with rice, salad, refried black beans and two housemade corn tortillas . Ceviche de Camarón - fresh and tangy, though light on shrimp, which tasted a bit tough Fried Plantains - perfectly done, sweet, and satisfying. Plus, I had an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. The highlights for me were the flavorful rice (with vegetables mixed in, including carrots and squash), the marinated chicken, and the sausages. The plantains were also excellent. The ceviche had great flavor but could've used more shrimp. The only miss for me was the salad--generous in portion but iceberg-based, so a bit bland. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, not heavy or greasy, and we left with enough for another one or two meals. We'll definitely be back.

I asked if they could cook it more, which I never do, I never send things back bc I'm afraid of insulting the person's cooking skills who is handling my food. But this egg was still clucking. She took the plate, walked into the kitchen, we heard chopping sounds for 2 seconds and she brought it immediately back. She was gone with it for seriously under 30 seconds. She set it on the table and announced "I didn't want to turn it brown" and walked away. The egg was exactly the same doneness, but now chopped up. I don't know why I let this peer pressure make me second guess my judgment and intuition, but we were traveling due to a family tragedy and I was just tired and stressed and needed to feed my hungry baby. So I fed her the egg. Halfway through, my breakfast was brought to the table with a well-cooked egg on the plate, so I swapped hers for mine. I guess Border just feels really strongly that adults need fully cooked eggs and babies need raw ones. Later that night, my baby vomited. Then again. And again. She vomited 7 times all through the night. I vomited once. Diarrhea all day yesterday for both of us. We didn't get to go see our sick family member, for whom we flew across the country. It was just such a huge stroke of bad luck that I felt the need to share... I hate to ream a humble business, but serving a raw egg to somebody for a baby is not cool. Especially when they asked it well cooked. And then to refuse to cook it more when asked. By a mom who is trying to protect her baby. And to pretend they had cooked it more when they clearly hadn't. Please listen to mothers when we advocate for our children. We truly know best for them.
