I had a great experience at OKOME and will definitely be back. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The staff was incredibly friendly, offered excellent recommendations, and checked on us regularly without being intrusive. Our food came out surprisingly fast after ordering, which was a nice bonus. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which says a lot about how well they maintain the entire place. The music was at the perfect volume, and the lighting and overall ambience created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The food was excellent from start to finish. The sushi was fresh and delicious, with the Monster Roll easily being my favorite. The hibachi steak was cooked perfectly--tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. The crab rangoons were the best I've ever had--crispy, flavorful, and generously filled. Even the kids loved their meals and cleaned their plates, which is always a huge win. On top of everything else, the prices offered great value for the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. If you're looking for outstanding sushi, delicious hibachi, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend OKOME. Our first visit to all you can eat. And it couldn't have been worse. Some of the items in the menu are marked gluten free. Others are not but are gluten free. We have allergies to sesame and wheat and the waitress told the kitchen about our allergies. It's an open kitchen so I saw her do it. We ordered a crab roll that was served with sesame seeds. We returned it to be brought a second roll again with sesame seeds. The 3rd roll was ok. We wondered if it was real crab or imitation and asked our waitress. She didn't know and asked the kitchen. It's imitation. Many imitation crab contains wheat. Again - ask ask ask. Guess what? It does contain wheat. So they served us both of our allergens. The manager came over and explained the hibachi they served us also contained wheat. And he blamed the waitress. When we explained that it was not her fault but the kitchen's he said he'd go ask the "chef" for his explanation. He returned and told us that the crab roll has gluten in the mayo too. He wasn't sympathetic or understanding of the severity but did go right back and added GF to several menu items that may or may not be gluten free The ambiance in the restaurant is too loud. The quality is on par with Japan Express but the management and kitchen's lack of understanding their ingredients and safe food handling and preparation combined with the arrogance won't have us back. read more

My daughter wanted to go here for her graduation dinner. She loves the all you can eat sushi thing. I love the fact that they have more options than sushi. My 8 and 15 year olds also enjoyed themselves here as well. We tried so many different things - sushi rolls, hibachi, soups, appetizers, desserts. There was a lot to choose from. Unfortunately our experience was horrible. The women's bathroom had no soap. Our kind waiter replaced the soap upon my request. The appetizers were good. We tried the shumai, rangoons, and spicy crab roll. The entrees were where things took a turn for the worse. Our daughter was served undercooked chicken hibachi that was still kind of pink. translucent, and slimy in the center. The manager replaced her food, but she and I had already lost our appetites. Salmonella risk anyone? Ugh!! Then, my steak hibachi was rare when I asked for well done. The manager came to explain that the kitchen does not see or receive any comments that are typed upon ordering. He instructed that we were supposed to "tell the waiter." Mind you, there is no signage to that effect. This was our first visit. We ordered on the tablet without the presence of a waiter. How could we "tell the waiter?" What the point of making written requests if they are not visible to the kitchen? Food allergies?? So the manager's feedback made no sense. I explained the aforementioned. I really really want to love Okome House but it's just not *there* yet. There's plenty of parking, whether it's at Okome itself or in the nearby parking lots in the shopping area. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, some definitely show better hospitality than others. Our first visit, a waitress came by with ginger and wasabi for tables but completely walked by us. We also did not get anything to drink the entire time. Our second visit, our waiter was very accommodating and continuously gave us refills. So service is a hit or miss here. The food is all delicious. The sushi is fresh and the appetizers are good fillers. However, it takes FOREVER to get your sushi order. You can make 3-4 separate orders of appetizers before your sushi order comes out. So if you do go to Okome, order all of your sushi up front because you might just fill up on appetizers instead. I was super excited for an AYCE sushi restaurant right here in Wake Forest, but there are still lots of kinks they need to work on before I consider going back. read more

So much better than rock and roll sushi if you're familiar with that concept. I personally don't like to eat sushi that's on a train, riding around for an extended period of time so the fact you can order from the menu here, it's prepared fresh, and you still get great service is a win for me. We saw this restaurant and decided to go the next day. The restaurant was clean. Plenty of parking. The staff was wonderful. Daniel was our server. He was phenomenal. Very polite & attentive. He went over everything in detail & checked on us frequently. The food was delicious!!! The sushi was fresh. The chicken wings were nice and crunchy. You order from an iPad in increments of 10 minutes. Which means you can order mini plates or rolls of sushi every 10 minutes. They have a variety of foods that include: hibachi entrees, sushi, fries, egg rolls, fried Oreos, fried chicken wings, salads, etc. The Dinner price is all day on the weekends. They offer a lunch price during the week. You can/will be charged if you waste food, ordering excessively but not eating it. I'm returning soon. I really enjoyed it. Went on a Saturday lunch...did not know it was dinner menu all days on weekend. Service was wonderful. Super nice staff. The restaurant was very open. We sat in the middle at one of the tables. They were not very busy. Every time an order was sent to the sushi bar, a buzz could be heard across the restaurant. Over and over. Definitely could be turned down just a bit. There were a few appetizers to choose from. 3 soup options and a few salads. They had hibachi, teriyaki, and yaki udon. Then the sushi...since there was one tablet, it made it a bit hard for everyone to be able to see details on each roll. If you like raw fish, nigiri options would be the way to go. But be careful, they did make a note on the pricing menu that you cannot waste the rice balls or you'll be charged per piece. The yaki udon was tad bit on the salty side. But everything else was just okay. Nothing really stood out for me to say, I'll def be back. With so many sushi places around, I'll stick to my usual place. read more

I like the concept of AYCE sushi, but this place definitely dropped the ball. For one they lost our first order and it took over 30 minutes to get any food. They also have this weird policy where you have to pay for uneaten food, even if it doesn't taste good. And the rolls are full size so if you get it and don't like it you have to pay for each uneaten piece. The rolls we got were fine, nothing great at all. Also the bathrooms are oddly hot and smell like dryer grease. Honestly I like Rock and Rolls Sushi for AYCE way more. read more

I wanted to love this place, but there are too many problems that will need to be addressed before I go back. 1. Very slow service and ordering process. This is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, but every time you order you have to get permission because the order won't go through until the server comes and enters a password. Then the food takes 5-10 minutes to arrive. And your time is limited and being counted down from the time you make your first order. 2. One sushi roll contained eggs (which was not listed when I did the detailed look at the ingredients). And, since I don't like eggs, I did not want it when it arrived. I explained to the waitress who then chose to ARGUE with me and tried to tell me that "oshinko" means eggs. (It does not. It's a type of pickled radish.) I was then told that I would eat it or I would have to pay extra for it. 3. Despite being all-you-can-eat, there are a number of items on the menu that are not included in the already high price and require an upcharge - including all but one of the desserts. 4. The yakisoba had a sweet sauce - nothing at all like what yakisoba should be . A number of dishes were off in a similar way. 5. There were very few vegetarian choices. I had to make notes when I did my order and (given the egg situation above) I had to be super vigilant about what I was being served. read more

Food was ok, but ordering process on the IPAD was complicated, appetizers and salad were brought out with the main dish instead of first, portions were small (although you can order more) and there is a waste fee if you don't finish that they will charge you for. I've eaten here multiple times in the past 3 months and it's been good every time. As of the end of 2025 the price for all you can eat sushi is $18 M-F for lunch and closer to $25 for dinner and on weekends. This is very comparable to Rock N' Roll Sushi's price, which is a little bit less expensive but also offers lower quality Sushi and Hibachi. Everything I've had at Okome is very good. When they first opened they required you to get a waiter to put your order in but that is no longer the case and they just leave the iPad at the table and you can place orders whenever you want. Because all the food is made fresh sometimes there is a little bit of a delay from when you put your order in to when you get the food but i've never felt I had to wait too long. They have a wide variety of rolls on the lunch menu and an even larger selection for dinner. I should stay up front that I probably value getting a good price and good food more than I care about ambiance or fantastic service but I would say the ambiance and service are fine at Okome. My giving it four stars is a reflection of the fact that I feel like they do exactly what they set out to do, which is to be a reasonably priced All You Can Eat Sushi and Hibachi restaurant. (I'd give four stars to a McDonald's if they were clean and efficient and served hot McDonald's food.) read more

Okome House in Wake Forest is now one of my favorite places to eat. The food is really good and fresh, and there's so much to choose from. If you like sushi, this place is perfect. Everything tastes great and you can eat as much as you want. It's also super quick. You don't have to wait long to get a table, and the food keeps coming out fast. Even when it's busy, everything runs smoothly and the place stays clean. Our server, Carmen, was amazing! She was really nice and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. I came to eat here on 6/29 at 8:30 pm. We were the last table there. We order 20 nigiri and there was a bug (roach / grasshopper or something) in our food. We told the waitress and she took the food. Tried to get us to allow her to remake it but we declined. The total we had to pay was 53.98 she only gave us a 5$ discount for finding a live bug in raw fish. I was absolutely disgusted and appalled with the level of service we received. Terrible customer service. This location is obviously not very clean nor do they care to right their mistakes. This restaurant also has a sanitation score of 91. After I posted this review they proceed to call me a liar on google reviews. I want to clarify that the waitress tried to kill the bug herself when we shows it to her and the bug was found on our food and sushi. The Crazy Dragon Roll was a standout -- perfectly balanced in flavor and texture, and truly delicious. On the hibachi side, both the steak and chicken were juicy, tender, and packed with flavor -- definitely some of the better hibachi I've had in a while. The Cheese Mussels Were a Showstopper Now, let's talk about the cheese mussels -- OMG. I could have easily eaten three helpings of these rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying bites. I usually never forget to take food photos, but I got so caught up in the meal that I completely forgot -- except for the mussels, which I did manage to snap a picture of and have added to this review! Great Service & Something for Everyone The service was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and quick to accommodate requests. Even my husband, who hates sushi, really enjoyed the gyoza and hibachi, so this place truly has something for everyone. A Couple of Minor Downsides I do have two small complaints: 1. No soy sauce on the table - You have to ask for a tsukemono (soy sauce dish/ramekin) if you need one, which feels like an unnecessary extra step. Also, if you love fresh ginger, you'll need to keep requesting it since it doesn't automatically come with each sushi plate. 2. Scallops aren't listed on the menu - I was craving a spicy scallop hand roll or cut roll, but when I didn't see it on the menu, I asked the sushi chef, and he told me they actually do have scallops -- you just have to request them! If they have them available, I'd highly recommend adding them to the menu so more people know about this option. Final Verdict: A 10/10 Experience! Other than those small inconveniences, this place is a 10/10 for me! The fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and excellent service make Okome House a spot I'll definitely be returning to. We ate here one Friday night as a family. Overall it was okay it was an average buffet. The kids didn't seem thrilled. With the mozzarella sticks they served ketchup with them... weird. Stuck all the people with families in the back room... which was fine as it was cooler back there, and then my son got sick and the busser and server were very quick to help us clean it up. Apps can only be ordered one per person. Restrooms are very clean. Soy sauce, wasabi and ginger took a really long time to come out. The crab salad was actually my favorite. Sushi rolls were sub par in my opinion. My husband enjoyed his stir fry without rice. We will probably try it again but it didn't scream 5 star for us. read more

I, on the other hand, was left with chicken wings, they were ok, crab ragoon- which was some of the best I have eaten. Some noodle dish which was meh. Went during their soft opening. It's nice to have an all-you-can-eat sushi place and Wake Forest for once. They still have some things to work out. One of the big things is I had to request for wasabi and ginger and a dish for the soy sauce (they had soy sauce itself on the table already). Sushi is pretty standard it could be a little better quality but it does meet the basics and isn't bad. All the ordering is done on a tablet. One thing I would like to see is an actual drink menu because that's one thing that they don't have listed anywhere. AYCE sushi experience. The food is okay- the setting is okay. Overall it's just okay but it's AYCE, so it's about quantity experience :)

The sushi was delicious! My only complaint on any of the food was the edamame (it was over cooked and took longer than expected to come out) and the crab ragoons (the first set we ordered was PERFECT, but the second batch was a bit soggy and had hardly any filling.) My next complaint was the service. We had only been checked on once, and we had ran out of water relatively early. Our server was also a bit rude when I had requested a side sauce (it felt like she was annoyed that I had asked for it.) The floors were EXCESSIVELY slick with NO signage informing that floors were slippery. I was watching employees and customers alike slip and slide non-stop, one customer almost fell directly onto our table.. it's a HUGE hazard. Lastly, the building has no noise reduction. I could hear every conversation, dishes clanking around, and it was very echoey. As someone who has an auditory processing disorder it made it very hard to enjoy my meal. Everyone was extremely friendly and the server assigned to our table came by several times to make sure our drinks were full and to take plates away. I wasn't expecting much presentation from an AYCE place, but some of the rolls were beautifully plates, with one of spider rolls having a spider design made out of eel sauce on the plate. Hostess seemed like she was a little hard to comprehend. We keep asking for a table that we could keep our 6 month old seated in his stroller. She kept taking us to booths and then stating that my son could not stay on the carseat. When asked if we could have a table she points us to a table with the same instructions. When we asked about the second room of seating, she stated it was closed.... even though families were being seated. We simple were asking for seating where we wouldn't be in anyone's way.
