I always have the same dish the spicy seafood bimbibop, it has a great mix of seafood, the rice gets brown from the hot pot and the sauce is amazing. I love the little dishes they bring to start. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened, I'm not sure why I haven't. My daughter was asking to try it, so today, finally we did. I am going to say that it must depend on what you get, and what she got was the Japangmyeon, and she said they were good. However, she's bought packaged noodles from Amazon and said they are just as good. I got the wing Bento box, and this was disappointing. I' m that strange person who doesn't want a HUGE wing, and these were HUGE. I also feel that they didn't have the crispness I expect, and the sauce wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. The salad with what I think is dressing they make, was tasty. The miso soup, tasty. Although I find it hilarious that Korean places serve miso soup, but again, I'm not Korean or Japanese, but I mean, miso soup is Japanese, right? The 2 fried dumplings, "spring roll", and my tempura sweet potato were a little oily and also lacked flavor. But I think I'm the problem. For me, what I like in Korean food is limited, kimchee, oh yeah; the fried wings/chicken, when done well, oh, heck yeah; the rice, I mean, you need it; and I like the lighter Japchae noodles, finding the others too heavy. I don't really like the national rice dish, Bibimbap, because, becasue like a burger, you have to know what you want on it, and I apparently don't know with Bibimbap. I'm not a huge lover of the pancake-type things, too chicken to try the soups, but give me the Japchae, GOOD fried chicken, and the bulgogi, etc., and I'm good. For us, the service was outstanding. The decor is a bit eclectic with about 5 diff types of brick and tiles/ fake brick, painted walls throughout the restaurant. We came here fairly early on a Sunday evening and it definitely was filling up as it got closer to 5pm. I ordered the tofu soup which is good save for the 2 out of 4 dead/unopened mussels which I didn't eat for fear of food poisoning. I went with the medium which is quite spicy but tasty. It came with one shrimp as well and lots of octopus pieces. I did find it strange that the egg was already inside the stone pot and that the pot wasn't boiling/bubbling hot which is how I've always had it served back in California. Maybe they're just being cautious but the egg definitely does not cook at all while in the stew. If you don't mind runny egg it's not an issue. Our server was very friendly and softspoken. I was going to get the almond boba and asked her opinion of it and she said she didn't like it at all and recommended the strawberry or mango or honeydew boba. I'm not normally a fruit boba person but I do trust employees and seek out their recommendations so I went with the mango and asked for less sweet. All of their drinks are prepared from a powder with added sugar. It definitely had a strange aftertaste which you can get used to but it basically tastes super artificial like candy but it's definitely not authentic and at $5.99 a boba drink I'd skip it next time bc it just isn't good. The sizzling hot galbi plate ($30) was large and yummy. It came with a bowl of cold miso soup which tasted off. Like, it was served cold and straight up tasted like it had gone bad. I've had Korean cold noodle dishes and cold broth dishes before and it wasn't just fermentation like miso soup which we barely touched it after trying. The steamed dumplings were a bit bland and very overcooked and warm at best when they brought them to the table. As far as Korean beers go, they serve terra. The bottle is quite large. Banchan was okay. I liked the fish cake one best. The rice that came with our food was hot at least. The fried chicken wings are decently priced at $16.50 for a 10 piece and they are huge too. The garlic flavor is good and the chicken is juicy. It's comparable to the fried chicken from k-town market off of Duraleigh but not as good as Banchan fried chicken. We would not come back but if you go there I would recommend the sizzling type plates and the fried chicken is pretty decent. read more

This place was recommended to us by a shop on the other side of town. When you first walk in it doesn't look like anything special so we almost went to a different restaurant around the corner, but I am so very, very very glad that we did not. The food here was absolutely delicious! They gave us a little vegetable appetizer that was perfect... And tied us over until we got to the main course. We had a hot bowl Bibibop or something... I should've written it down. And we also had the dish in the lower right hand side of the menu that was made with sweet potato noodles... Both of them were absolutely incredible! The staff was very nice and patient and answered all our questions. My friend has a number of dietary restrictions and they 100% took care of us! My first time at Korean Kitchen so I can't compare it to what it may have been in the past. There were 6 of us at the table so we ordered a bit heavily. The six different banchan had different flavors and textures, something that should be expected but isn't always delivered. The dishes were refilled regularly. In addition to the food in the photos we also ordered both the kimchi pancake and the seafood pancake and a brisket dish. Both pancakes were good but the kimchi pancake was a standout. The brisket was the only dish I felt to be subpar. It just wasn't much of anything at all. Everything else was rather good. I believe that we got a little bit of the "white boy" treatment even though one of our party was Asian. The spice level in a few of the dishes was turned down a few notches although they were still tasty and the server tried very hard to steer us towards fruit-flavored soju rather than the original. Even though many of the other customers were Asian the menu appears to cater to an audience not familiar with Korean food. There are a good number of more familiar Japanese dishes and there's a tendency to use loose English approximations for the names of some dishes. That can make it a little challenging to find some dishes or just try to guess to what they're referring. Oh, and the parking really stinks. Whichever developer decided that putting 4 restaurants, who will all be doing the majority of their business in the exact same timeframe, on a small lot with not nearly enough parking spots should never be allowed near a building site again. Weekends are for Bento Boxes I had the chicken, it comes with salad with this amazing orange dressing, rice, tempura veggies, spring rolls, miso soup, and then 5 mini plates with kimchi, and other goodies. (See photo). Hubby got beef bulgolgi Bento Box and it was the best I have EVER had, so render and flavorful. We got beef short ribs to go for dinner, hubby already pronounced them delicious. I know nothing about Korean food. Seriously. I like kimchi. I like bibimbap. I've had bibimbap at a couple of places, and I've never had a bad bowl of bibimbap. I liked this place. You get very large portions, dope pickled sides, and soup for a very reasonable price. I'm not sure why the place isn't busier when I have gone, but I found the food to be totally satisfying, the sake specials are very reasonable, the service is adequate, and overall, I enjoyed the experience. If you live in the Wake Forest area, and you like Korean food, or would like to try Korean food, I would recommend this place. Feel free to get nuts and try new stuff. read more

Another quick review here. I stopped in for lunch at Korean Kitchen on Tuesday of last week. The place has been opened for awhile and, I can't tell you how many times I've driven by without stoping in. However, I think KK may become a semi regular lunch spot. They have daily specials here for lunch. I went with the Yaki Udon which came with a choice of three wings with different seasonings. I opted for the garlic, they were delicious! The Beef Udon was also delicious! The portion was fairly big and the vegetables and noodles were fresh and overall it was really tasty and just a slight hint of heat. Korean Kitchen is easy to miss since it's locate right off a busy intersection and the building blends in with the rest of the other retailers on the same tiny strip. Once you enter the parking lot, you'll see what I mean. Make sure to drive slowly because the parking lot is super narrow. I walked in and was told that I could sit anywhere. The restaurant is spacious with so many little tables, whether if it's for a small or larger party. I was then handed a menu. The menu was so perfect -- not overwhelming with options but straight to the point with popular Korean dishes. As I waited to place my order, K-Pop music played at comfortable sound level and people came pouring in at a good pace and most of them were Korean too -- okay! This had to be good! My expectations went up a notch! Initially, I came for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) but as I look through the menu, the appetizers sounded too good so I decided to get that instead... Fries: You can add kimchi, bulgogi, and cheese for $1 each! What a fantastic deal! Holy! The fries were crunchy and hot! The toppings are a must! The flavors were a match made in food heaven! Brussels Sprouts: On point! The sweetness, saltiness, and spicyness created a concoction like no other. If I were Brussel sprouts, may I be cooked this way! Side items: Loved all four! I could've eaten this as my main meal and be satisfied. Overall, what a wonderful experience! My waitress was kind and attentive from start to finish. From a bi-weekly visit to never coming back if that tells you anything. New owners changed a lot of recipes and specials and food was never as good. However this is the only Korean spot in WF and it was still good. New owners got to know me as a regular. With food quality deteriorating, prices rising, and service rapidly declining, I reduced my visits. Two times before today I ended up walking out before eating because I couldn't get anyone to wait on me. But I'm a sucker for Korean food and decided, even though it's been about 6 months since my last visit I'd give them another chance today. I walk in, and was greeted by the owner, "hello Jason." Honestly when I drove past I didn't notice it tucked away. The building doesn't look spectacular from the outside, but the inside is simple and warm. They even included banchan in the form of potatoes, kimchi, and spicy cucumbers. The service was not that great. I was quoted 10-15 mins, and the food was not ready until 25 mins. This was the 2nd time I've gotten takeout from them and had to wait around for the food. They were not busy tonight. The parking there is scarce and I've had to park in an unofficial spot each time, so I wanted to be in and out quickly. Then the employee at the register took a long time to do check-out. It seemed like it was her first time working the register though. I love Korean food. So much so that I managed to teach myself to make Korean fried chicken from scratch over the early pandemic and it's a huge hit. I was very surprised to find this place. Not driving to work every day I learned late that it's been open for a bit. We had some extended time over lunch and my wife and I headed to check it out. I may have ordered too much and regretted it but I wanted to try everything I could. We got the fried pork dumplings and Bao Bun with Beef Bulogi as a starter. The Bao Buns were great and the Bulogi was tender and delicious. For the main I got the Kimchi Jigae and my wife got the fire chicken. They also served with the meal some various kimchi in cabbage, cucumber, and potato which was wonderful. There was another noodle type that I forget the name. While we were eating they dropped off another small serving of a soup to try. I didn't get the name but it was similar to egg drop soup and had some tofu and veggies in but tasted better and I think it was chicken based. The soup I had is served boiling hot and was very good. The tofu melted in your mouth as you ate it and there was plenty of kimchi in it. Probably burnt my mouth a few times but the staff kept the iced tea coming to cool off the mouth. I went with about the "spicy" level and for me it was good I could probably take more but didn't want to risk it. The fire chicken was great I stole some from my wife. It's a stir fried or grilled chicken with a nice spicy sauce. At the end of the meal they dropped off some watermelon slice for each of us and it was well appreciated at the end of a great meal. Language barrier with the owners and the staff but they have pics for what you want and show them. I go here once a week because it's really that authentic. Let me preface by saying I hate getting mislead/ripped off or whatever you want to call it. Last Sunday I called in for an order of 20 wings to go. Their website said it would take 15 minutes, they said it would be ready in 30 minutes. Not a huge deal but I did have to wait for them. The website (www.koreankitchennc.com) quoted $24.00 for 20 wings. When my order was ready, I was charged a total of $32.48 for 20 wings. That's quite a difference in price. Buyer beware. read more

NO WORDS! New Favorite Place! We live in Oxford and usually go to Durham or Raleigh, but we will definitely be making trips to this place from now on! First off, we spent a good ten minutes admiring all the beautiful live plants in the restaurant. They are sooooo healthy and thriving. The tables and seats were so unique and creative. It was like having lunch or dinner in a garden. Now the service... was amazing. So kind and light-hearted. Everyone there got along and took care of everybody. They were so kind to answer our questions and beyond. I have never had such great edamame. And I've had it from New York, Texas, California, DC, Tennessee, Alabama, and many other great cities.
