Im not really sure what happened. Ive gone twice since I moved to Raleigh. Both time I ordered their BOGO Chefs special rolls. The first time, the rolls were large and delicious. The menu choices are extensive. There was about an 7 month gap between visits. The second time was disappointing. Of course the prices vary but I paid about $25-ish for 12 rolls that weren't great. One order was the same as the first time I ordered. I brought the order home and put on one sad plate. I know they say you are hungry in 30min after you eat sushi but i was hungry after 10min. Went here for lunch with our grandchildren. Were seated quickly. Our drinks came out & then we waited at least 10 mins for our order to be taken, even though only 2 other tables were occupied. We weren't given a lunch menu, so I didn't know there was one. I got the salmon bento box. The salmon was about 1/3 inch thick & overcooked. 4 skimpy pieces of California roll. Chicken teriyaki was overcooked & dry. Chicken fried rice had little chicken & pretty flavorless. The kids filet mignon (which wasn't filet mignon) was the best of our meals. My best friend and I absolutely love Sake House. We have gone many many times, but I haven't written a review in years. It was a quiet Thursday evening and we were seated right away. Our server was absolutely amazing. She was kind, sweet and thoughtful. We ordered edamame to start off with along with drinks. We both ordered two rolls. I love that they continue to have their BOGO special. The sushi rolls are absolutely amazing, fresh and and so perfectly made. The combinations are a mouthful of flavor. I ordered online to pick up. It said 30 minutes. I show up 30+ minutes later and they tell me 10 more minutes. I wait 15. They hadn't even started my meal (Raw Sushi). This has happened multiple times. The son that works there has lied to me. The owners have lied. It seems like they have trouble keeping staffed. I've been a customer off and on for over 15 years hoping they will improve (it's a great location for me). Such a shame. read more

I went on a date here. They gave me raw meat instead of tuna on most of the rolls. In the picture, you can see the clear difference in color. The meat is a deep red color. I didn't even notice the color difference until my date pointed it out. It's disgusting to think that a restaurant is okay with disguising raw meat as seafood. Please beware of this restaurant. It's safe to say I did not feel well for the following days. Please be careful. Please I didn't feel comfortable with letting the waiter know. Food was delicious but the service was terrible. Walked in when it was fairly slow and stood for several minutes while three employees looked at us and talked to each other. Finally I walked to them and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves, but they said no, they just need a minute. They finished their chat then seated us. Next, our waiter took a while to get our drinks. (Water and tea). Also, he didn't offer to refill them until two had been empty for so long that we had to share the third. We got soup, and asked for soy sauce which took a while again. The main order took quite some time but since it was sushi, we understood. When we finished the plates sat for another 20+ minutes as well as our empty glasses before finally we caught his eye and asked for the check. He said sure, and he will bring refills back, but that was way too late. We would have loved that an hour ago! We declined and asked again for the check. This, again, took a while. After a nice hike at Durant Nature Trail, me and my date worked up an appetite and she suggested Sake House. I hadn't had sushi in a while so I was all for it. There's plenty of parking and it's definitely date worthy so you can't go wrong with this choice. Sake House offers BOGO sushi which I find so useful when you're eating out with someone else. Basically you order two rolls and pay for only one so that's a plus. Who doesn't want free food? I ordered Fried Calamari ($7.99) as an appetizer for us along with the Crazy Fire Roll ($15.99 with Salmon, jalapeno, mango, cream cheese, tempura style, topped w. eel sauce, honey wasabi sauce, crispy onion, masago & scallions). My date ordered the Ninja Roll ($15.99 with Spicy tuna & shrimp tempura, topped w. spicy crab meat, eel sauce & scallion). Everything was brought out together and I had no complaints. The calamari was superb. A tad bit salty but overall they were amazing when paired with this sauce that comes with it. I didn't get the name of it but it gives me sweet and salty vibes. Amazing sauce. I'll definitely have to ask the next time I go. Me and my date definitely tried each other's rolls so I was able to taste my Crazy Fire Rolls and her Ninja Rolls. The Ninja Rolls were better but I didn't let my Crazy Fire Rolls go to waste. I think the crispy onion, masago, & scallions kind of threw me off but the salmon jalapeño and cream cheese made up for it for sure. They overall roll was fried and I liked it for the most part. However, the Ninja Roll had me in love. They were spicy but not too spicy and the shrimp and crab meat was delicious. I also developed a new love for eel sauce and I now prefer it over soy sauce lol. Update: we ordered from here on New Years Eve and let me say it was quite an experience. The rolls were still super amazing and service was amazing. We placed a to go order and it took over an hour but while I was waiting, the workers were REALLY working hard! It's funny how when you have nothing to do but wait fir an hour how many things you see and hear. Every person there waiting was complaining and saying "these people don't know what they're doing" and "this is ridiculous ". But you know what they didn't see was that even the owner was on that sushi line working super hard to fill those dozen or more orders people were placing at a time! I was in the mood for a nice bowl of Nabeyaki Udon so I stopped in the Sake House. I was disappointed. The broth was thin and watery and was obviously an "add to water" concentrate. I also ordered maguro sushi which was much better quality than the Udon was, which is why it got a solid three stars. If I come here again, it will be for the sushi and not the udon. Picked up an order on Friday night for Teriyaki Chicken. Simple enough. Came with miso soup and a side salad. The miso soup was hot, flavorful, and excellent! The salad was fresh and a typical Japanese house salad with crisp iceberg lettuce, a few cucumber slices, and a tomato slice. One pet peeve is that the tomato was sliced on a machine (like you'd put on a sandwich). I prefer a wedge. The orange ginger dressing had an off taste like some pith got included with the rind. It lacked ginger and tasted watered down. The teriyaki chicken was what drops the rating. The chicken was bland and rubbery. It looked and tasted like it came out of a microwave. The sauce slapped on the chicken was weak and flavorless. I suspect it was simply brushed over the microwaved chicken. This is NOT good teriyaki. The vegetables under the chicken included a total of 2 broccoli florets, 3 small carrot slices, and 1/2 a sliced onion that was undercooked leaving an unpleasant raw onion aftertaste. The steamed rice was adequate and slightly sticky. Overall, I give it a generous 3 stars. OK if you are starving and need to eat in 1/2 hour, but not somewhere to go out of your way to visit. read more
