Rainbow roll and Crazy David roll.
    Charlotte B.

I hadn't been to Hayashi in years! It was always so fresh and delicious, I can't think of why we stopped. Perhaps the pandemic, and then lured into our usual spots. Well welcome back into my life Hayashi! Visiting at lunch, my husband and I took advantage of the 3 for 31 roll deal. We got a Rainbow roll, the Subaru roll and Crazy David. I hesitated in ordering the Subaru roll as it was described being twice rolled in radish, which sounds good but I still wasn't certain I'd like it. It turned out to be my favorite of the three! Good amount of salmon and refreshing. We also ordered garlic edamame which was very flavorful. We sat up at the sushi bar which was comfortable and fun. Hayashi isn't fancy, but it feels special. They do have a spot to sit kind of ground level, and many tables have a little quarter stone wall to give a little privacy. I saw a bad review of the service. I'm not sure what happened there but our service was great and I recall for years before it was consistently good. Excellent spot for sushi. Give it a try!

Hayashi never fails to be the best Sushi place this side of the Mississippi and beyond !

Hayashi has become more than just our go-to sushi spot--it's truly part of our family's routine. Since moving from San Diego to NC in 2016, 99% of our dining outings have been to Hayashi, and for good reason: the sashimi is the best you'll find anywhere--top-tier quality that rivals the West Coast. It's upscale yet warm, welcoming, and family-friendly. Ty and the team always go above and beyond, greeting guests and making every visit feel special. Don't be fooled by flashy upscale spots that miss the mark--Hayashi consistently delivers the best food and experience under one roof. Highly recommended!

Dined here recently on a Saturday night. They seem to do a lot of take out/ to go orders. The rolls are huge and priced great! The place is small and a large group would definitely need a reservation. We had the avocado salad to start. It was topped with seaweed salad and fresh sliced avocado. It was delicious and very fresh. We ordered 6 rolls total. More than we could eat. The service was excellent. Our waitress described everything and brought the food out as soon as it was rolled. Everything was very fresh tasting. The rolls are very big! We really enjoyed this restaurant.

This place was in the regular rotation for a long while, but hadn't been in more than 2 years. Food and service are still high quality. Interior seems a little tired and a/c needs work - it was uncomfortably warm on this late-August night. They do a robust to-go business here, so the kitchen is hopping while alternating between in-house and takeout prep. Service is friendly and quick. Not more than 10 minutes for food to arrive. Ordered edamame and gyoza as appetizers. Both were on point - edamame warm and nicely salted with big-crystal salt. Gyoza perfect, savory pork steamed in a thin dumpling wrapper. One of my favorites, with that garlicky dipping sauce. Tried the Wakefield Roll and the Rock n' Roll. The Wakefield Roll is shrimp tempura, lobster salad, cucumber with masago & wasabi sauce. The Rock n' Roll is eel, cream cheese, crunch roll topped crab meat w/eel sauce. Even though the ingredients are similar, the tastes are very different. Proportions are right, not too much sauce or spice. Everything is well balanced. Each slice of sushi is bite-sized. Time to add Hayashi back into the regular rotation. I have forgotten how much I enjoy the food here.

Rolls all had Crab Salad instead of whole crab sticks.

Service was good, but the Sushi all tasted the same. Unfortunately they use crab salad in everything instead of actual crab stick. We were disappointed.

Good atmosphere. Server was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Bento box felt like a really good value. Eel was decent. Sashimi was good. We had several different rolls and thought they were great! Didn't seem like a lot at first but they were very filling. The Tuna Tatari appetizer was very good as well.

A consistently excellent experience. They don't always have Uni, but when they do, its outstanding--creamy and fresh tasting. Soft shell crab roll is one of the best rolls I've had. Sashimi is always good, they always buy fresh, top quality fish--the owner rejects anything that is not up to his standard. Tempura is always hot and crispy. So, happy to have this great place close by!

Came here with friends a little while ago and had an excellent time. The sushi was really good. We all split: -Sweet Garlic Edamame ($4.99) Really interesting flavor to have with edamame. Will need to try this at home sometime. (3 roll combo for $23.95:) -S16 Hayashi Crunch Roll (Hot or Mild. Spicy mixed fish roll topped with salmon, avocado, crunch & spicy sauce) Nice salmon and avocado flavor combination. -S13 Crazy David roll (Hot or Mild. Shrimp Tempura, avocado topped spicy mixed crab, jalapeno w/eel & spicy sauce) This one had some heat and was my favorite roll. -S10 Rainbow Roll (California roll topped with tuna, shrimp, salmon, snapper & avocado) Nothing too original here, but was nice to try fish medley in a roll. -K13 Veggie Hibachi ($14.55) This was just so-so, but wasn't the highlight of the meal. -R14 Avocado Roll ($5) What one would expect for an avocado roll. -36pc Sashimi ($65) This was of course the highlight the meal. Really good range of fish to try. Every piece of was surprisingly fresh for the middle of North Carolina. This place has high reviews for a reason! You should try it if you're in the area. The brewery across the strip mall is great too.

Love their sushi specials! The Wakefield roll is hands down the best as are the spicy garlic edamame and hibachi.

The staff was incredibly friendly, offered excellent recommendations, and checked on us regularly without being intrusive. Our food came out surprisingly fast after ordering, which was a nice bonus. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathrooms, which says a lot about how well they maintain the entire place. The music was at the perfect volume, and the lighting and overall ambience created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The food was excellent from start to finish. The sushi was fresh and delicious, with the Monster Roll easily being my favorite. The hibachi steak was cooked perfectly--tender, flavorful, and seasoned just right. The crab rangoons were the best I've ever had--crispy, flavorful, and generously filled. Even the kids loved their meals and cleaned their plates, which is always a huge win. On top of everything else, the prices offered great value for the quality of the food, service, and overall experience. If you're looking for outstanding sushi, delicious hibachi, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I highly recommend OKOME. We're already looking forward to coming back again very soon!

We have allergies to sesame and wheat and the waitress told the kitchen about our allergies. It's an open kitchen so I saw her do it. We ordered a crab roll that was served with sesame seeds. We returned it to be brought a second roll again with sesame seeds. The 3rd roll was ok. We wondered if it was real crab or imitation and asked our waitress. She didn't know and asked the kitchen. It's imitation. Many imitation crab contains wheat. Again - ask ask ask. Guess what? It does contain wheat. So they served us both of our allergens. The manager came over and explained the hibachi they served us also contained wheat. And he blamed the waitress. When we explained that it was not her fault but the kitchen's he said he'd go ask the "chef" for his explanation. He returned and told us that the crab roll has gluten in the mayo too. He wasn't sympathetic or understanding of the severity but did go right back and added GF to several menu items that may or may not be gluten free The ambiance in the restaurant is too loud. The quality is on par with Japan Express but the management and kitchen's lack of understanding their ingredients and safe food handling and preparation combined with the arrogance won't have us back.

The decor included dark wooden furniture, hardwood floors, door curtains for kitchen, and a ceiling lamp in the shape of a fish. On each table was a pale bottle with a small spout and a large stopper. This was for the black sauce, and the first time I have seen black sauce provided at tables in anything other than the small transparent bottle with double-spout cap. Next to the kitchen doorway was a black board announcing "What's New". The menu is printed on black-colored pages bound by black leather cover, which matched the black uniforms of the staff. I ordered my usual ramen: tonkotsu. It was served with a renge and a fork, the latter for those uncomfortable with using chopsticks. That didn't apply to me. I put the fork to the side and used the wooden chopsticks. The tonkotsu had three thick pieces of chasu, lots of menma slices, some kikurage strips, and a soft-boiled egg served in two halves. Though a little saltier than I would like, the broth was still delicious and complimented the food well, especially the chasu. It had a mild spiciness that caused slight irritation to my throat, but otherwise was worth consuming the entire bowl. It was about 11:10am when I arrived. Besides myself, there was one other party of two. The cocktail bar had two large TVs, one playing CNN and the other playing a sports program. The volume level was barely a whisper. Most of the time, I didn't hear anything. By 11:45am, two more parties of two showed up. The atmosphere was quiet the entire time, and definitely a great place to relax and enjoy a meal during lunch time. As I was leaving, I took a look at the outdoor dining area. It is housed in a patio next to the building. It has plenty of seating and is almost enclosed but for a cased doorway. I was impressed that TDLLO is accommodating to its customers during rain or shine (unlike Noodles Blvd in Cary). I returned on Jul 3, 2026, this time with a friend. We chose a booth and were served by a young lady Lexi. My friend and I ordered veggie ramen and shoyu ramen respectively. Had I paid attention to the picture in the menu, I would not be surprised when the shoyu ramen was served. It had two thick slices of chasu, a soft-boiled egg cut in two halves, lots of corn kernels, slices of fish cake and menma. Essentially, it was tonkotsu ramen with more ingredients. The pork broth tasted saltier than the tonkotsu's but without the mild spiciness of the latter. The saltiness was also apparent in my friend's veggie ramen. The shoyu ramen I had at S.E.A Ramen & Asian Kitchen (Knoxville, TN) had a different broth. It was shoyu, not pork bone, and the flavor wasn't as strong. In contrast, TDLLO's shoyu ramen had a much richer flavor. The saltiness didn't ruin the dining experience. Like the last visit, there was plenty of seating. The quiet atmosphere was conducive for conversations without having to raise our voices. Customer service was smooth. Lexi made sure we were pleased with everything. As we were leaving, a male staff gave us a polite farewell. My friend was impressed with not only the food but also the restaurant's decor. Once again, TDLLO Ramen & Sushi has my recommendation.
