This place is huge than what I expected. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and the hostess attended us after a few mins wait. Most of the tables were empty and that got my eyes rolling. We got the cream cheese dumplings before we got to order the sushi. Then we ordered the basic Alaskan roll. (This was probably the best of all). We got a few speciality rolls as shown in the picture which tasted great but kinda felt too much crunches to go into a sushi deceiving the actual taste of the food. We did hibachi here and the experience was horrible. Food was horrible - we order chicken, lamb and steak and they are all overcooked, stale, and underseasoned. Service is horrible - they left us alone for 30 min without anyone attending to us in a 50% empty restaurant. Ambiance horrible - we have groups of kids and teenagers and the chef at the next table spent 30 mins doing alcohol shots with a birthday party yelling lewd words. I really can't say enough bad things about this place. It's old, run down, dirty, smelly and the hibachi isn't even yummy. The whole place needs a complete gut renovation or demolition. Located behind Trader Joe's I believed this restaurant was closed there is empty beer cans in the landscaping around the restaurant and it's outside appearance is very run down. We ordered take out online two roll special and general tso chicken. We already paid or we may have turned around. The inside of the restaurant is about the same as the outside very run down and it was completely empty during lunch hour. Absolutely delicious food, portions were generous, and the meal was delicious! I got steak and shrimp hibachi: the shrimp was fresh, steak was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender, and the veggies that came with it were filled with flavor. I also got chicken and vegetable tempura and those were equally as amazing. The sides that came with my meal were not lacking either, I can't remember the last time I had a meal so unbelievably good. First off they sat us in a nice quiet corner away from everyone which was greatly appreciated. They were very great hosts and very friendly. The food I will say is a little pricey. We also paid 8 for a cup of apple juice. I say a cup bc the serving size for the apple juice is like half of the size of the other drinks. We got the hibachi chicken and steak and I asked for my steak to be cooked very well done and they totally listened. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Rating for takeout. Surprisingly, it's very good for takeout! The fried rice actually tastes good, no matter which size you get, which is weirdly rare in this area. The dishes are all priced I think reasonably, and there are more attractive options for sushi // appetizers than you usually get as well. Came for dinner on a Friday night and it was quiet in the dining room. Our waitress was prompt and friendly, helping us choose from an extensive menu of too many good options to count. I figured a sushi place in Darien , especially with these prices, would have to be good...but I was wrong Food: Rice from hibachi was gummy and without flavor. Even though they were not busy at all, the server took so long to get the gluten free soy sauce that the chef went ahead and cooked the fried rice without it. Everything else was average at best. Experience: Aside from the volcano trick with onions, the hibachi chef did NOTHING. He did consistently mess up and drop his cookware though as well as get shell in the egg twice. Also, I get it that it's an ethnic restaurant but they could barely communicate with us. Service: The server and hibachi chef were both new. They weren't familiar with the menu items. BOTH OF THEM EACH MADE COMMENTS ABOUT HOW THE THINGS WE ORDERED WEREN'T LIKED BY MOST PEOPLE! How does that make you feel to be sitting there after ordering duck to hear the chef say "most people don't like the duck, I don't." I had driven past this restaurant the other day and was shocked to know that it even existed. Ever since my drive by I have been crazy hibachi so when I received a UberEats Pickup promotion I eagerly started looking at the menu. According to UberEat's rating Hibachi Sushiya is rated 4.6 stars, however when I checked Yelp I was discouraged when I saw a 3.5 star rating and was debating whether to order or not. I decided to order anyways and I am so glad I did. I ordered the Filet Mignon Hibachi dinner entree and it was absolutely delicious. The meal itself came with clear soup, a green salad, two pieces of shrimp, noodles, vegetables and a very good amount of filet mignon. The clear soup was flavorful, often times it can taste very salty and watered down at other restaurants but this was not the case! The salad was just OK, decent dressing. The noodles are thin, which is the type I prefer with my hibachi. The shrimp, vegetables and filet were great and the serving size was great - big enough for 1.5-2 meals! Overall, I am very glad I chose Hibachi Sushiya for my dinner tonight and I look forward to actually dining there in the near future. read more

We came here last night to celebrate my sons 8th birthday. We ordered three Habachi Dinners and a few drinks, the noodles were completely off putting. They smelled foul and tasted foul. When I went to inform the front desk staff member her reply was "you mean the noodles they just cooked in front of you?" Then laughed when she told the waiter. Not sure if she realizes that the noodles already come out cooked. Anyways, we got our refund for the noodles but the whole time the staff kept giving us attitudes as if we weren't going to pay our whole bill. We paid for our bill (excluding noodles) and still left a 15% tip. Came to Hibachi Sushiya with a big group on a Saturday night and were pretty let down. It seemed like the wait staff was not ready for a Saturday night. We waited in the unmanned, outdated bar for 15 minutes while our table was being prepared. No one to came to take drink orders so we just stood around aimlessly waiting to be seated. When we finally were seated, it took approximately 20 minutes to get a round of sake bombs, and another 20 for the chef to come out! When the waiters did come around, they were friendly enough but the service was pretty atrocious. The atmosphere also left something to be desired -- there was no music or ambiance and the whole place felt like it could use a deep clean. My boyfriend, roommate and i got there a bit early, so we waited about a half hour to be seated. So we got seated, and about ten minutes later, a family of i think four or five, were seated.... they served them right away. We waited an extra 20 minutes for our chef and it was only until i complained to the waitress about this was when we were served. So we waited a total of 30 minutes just at the table itself. I came to Fuji with a party of 7 people. Half the adults attending had been to it when they were kids and wanted to go back for the Hibachi. We made a reservation and were seated around the hot table. Our server took our drink order then returned to take our food order. The menu has a good variety of sushi and hibachi dishes. For $22.50 I chose the filet mignon entree which came with soup, noodle, salad and shrimp. The soup was brought out first. It was really good. Miso style with fried onions. Then the salad came with a light ginger dressing. We all loved it. Separately we had ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer. It was fantastic. Perhaps the best tempura I've ever had. There was a small gap in time after that until our chef came but we had fun watching the other tables action. Our chef was hilarious and completely on point with his moves. It was very entertaining. He had us laughing the whole time. He started off with the fried rice and noodles. I got the noodle which could of used more flavor then tried the rice and thought it was better. The shrimp appetizer was tasty. Then he started on our entrees. My filet was perfectly done to med rare. It was chopped up into small pieces that were tender and juicy. I used the ginger dipping sauce along with it. Others tried some excellent sushi they raved about. They were cool with custom making pieces of maki for us. Overall we had a blast. The value for the quantity of food is great. Drinks are reasonably priced. Service was very friendly. There were a couple waitresses tending to the table. The guys who had been there years before said it looked exactly the same inside. It even had the same koi pond in the front. When you enter you see a fish aquarium... fishes were still alive but the water was yellow. Service was stressful. The waiter was constantly running from one palace to another.
