The lobby of Tru was very welcoming, with an unusual main desk at the center of things instead of tucked away against a wall. There was lots of seating in this area to enjoy the included breakfast (the automatic pancake machine, oh my god so good) and to hang out or wait for others to meet up. Foosball table, large television, etc. The rooms were equally as inviting. Lots of natural light but with the ability to really black things out in the room with a roll down curtain. The non-carpeted flooring was a nice, modern change. Beds were very comfortable, sheets clean, spacious layout, flat screen tv, mini fridge, etc. In-ground indoor pool was a nice option to have during our stay. Didn't seem all that popular among the guests staying at the same time as me since it was always empty but appreciated none-the-less. The hotel itself is situated in a concrete jungle so though there was a small outdoor seating area, don't expect much ambiance in terms of the outdoor space. Located next to a gas station, food store, and some strip mall restaurants - this hotel is convenient, serviceable, and an excellent option if you are in need of a place to stay in the middle of Delaware.

Since we visited during covid the housekeeping staff was helpful and friendly about exchanging out towels and giving us additional supplies like toilet paper while connecting in the hallway. We really appreciate that the toilet flushes well, but holy cow, keep a safe distance when flushing or you might lose something. Overall it was a good stay but we feel that something needs to be done to the parking entry area. Twice during our four days the entry (shared with Walmart and another retail space) was almost impassable with deep water that doesn't appear to drain properly. This isn't acceptable in our opinion and should be fixed as soon as possible.

We're definitely creatures of habit. Our latest visit was second to none. We were lucky enough to score seats at the bar for our party of seven. Taylor, our bartender, was fabulous. She was incredibly personable. She made so many great suggestions and recommendations, both for food/drink at the Atlantic Hotel in addition to other potential activities for us in the area once she learned we were here on vacation. The drinks she made were also on point. My Bloody Mary was one of the best I've had. The Orange Crushes were a hit between my mom and aunts who are always on the hunt for great Crushes. Oranges were juiced fresh for Crushes for each individual order which is great to see (not every place we've been does this). My wife loved her Mojito, and my cousins' drinks (Prickly Pear Margarita & Pear Martini) tasted every bit as good as they looked. I also thought it was very considerate of the bartender to serve the extra Pear Martini in a carafe that was resting in an ice filled glass to keep it chilled without watering it down. The marker is mounted on the wall and reads, "This locally famous landmark was constructed in 1836 by Joshua S. Layton and Caleb B. Sipple, builders of the Sussex County Courthouse across the Square. It replaced a frame Public House that had stood on the site. County courts were held here during construction of the Courthouse 1837-39. The accommodations and hospitality of the house made this a popular stopping place for both residents and visitors to the County Seat. Known for a time as the Union Hotel, this was a well-known gathering-place for northern sympathizers during the Civil War. After the war, business flourished with the coming of the railroad. With the advent of the automobile, the number of lodgers began to decline, and the hotel was closed in the mid-1950's. The building was later renovated and used as a bank until 1998. The Brick Hotel was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1979." This is marker number SC-139 and was erected by the Delaware Public Archives in 2000. The Brick Hotel really makes you feel pampered. Our room was one of the smallest (The Chambers) but all they had left at the time, and it was still plenty large and spotlessly clean. They leave complimentary drinks and snacks in your room, and have a nice continental breakfast with scones, muffins, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. Coffee and other beverages are always available. The rooms have a heated towel rack, which was kind of amusing but actually more useful to dry wet towels. The shower was large with nice white tile and a seat (again kind of amusing) but the shower head I didn't care for. I understand trying to save water but you really have to run around in there to get wet and it just takes longer. We also could unfortunately hear people using the microwave oven around 4:30 in the morning- it was on the other side of the wall to our room. There are several sitting areas to enjoy, including the 2nd floor deck in the front of the building. We sat out there and watched traffic go around the circle, drank our coffee out there in the morning and our beer in the evening. We also had dinner in the restaurant one evening which included the fried green tomato tower, seafood bouilliabaisse, and a delicious saffron risotto. Of the staff we met Kelly and Lisa were particularly helpful and engaging. Georgetown is one of those places I doubt we'll ever go back to but would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. Dang, the Microtel wants $100 a night, so stay here, are you kidding?

Crab &Swiss cheese omelette, roasted Yukon potato, turkey bacon, country sausage, the bread basket had lavish varieties and customed as well towards my girl who has celiac disease with gluten free options, Room tempered butter, I think even the raspberry marmalade was homemade, fresh berries...I mean nothing was missing and it was put together with such care.
