I recently came into the HBC for dinner. Although they're open until 8 according to their door, I got there at around 6:20 and no one was working the counter and restaurant cleanup was going on and I thought maybe they were actually closed. Eventually a lady came to the counter and took my order. I went with the Greek salad and added chicken. It was fresh and good. Not remarkable but for the price, it was a nice meal. I LOVED the bread that came with the salad. Some of the best I've ever had. I would definitely come back to try other things. The restaurant is large so groups of all size can be easily accommodated. Recently tried this place for the first time & I've been back twice! Staff are very friendly & efficient, orders come out very quickly. The Pick 2 Combo is an excellent portion size, plus it comes with a cookie! I only wish there was more pesto in the Classic Italian because it is so good. Well, first time here. We're on a time crunch to get my son to Charlotte airport. Both sons ordered bacon, egg and cheese bagels. They came out with no bacon. There are only 3 ingredients on this sandwich. Not good. Took the back up to get bacon added and had to wait on that to the point we had to get it to go. Food is great. Service is friendly and quick. The ambiance is exactly how it sounds like - a cafe. My wife and I love their baked potato soup as well as their mango smoothies! I ordered 1lb. of chicken salad to go on this past Sunday September 08th. I gave them a tip. I waited and waited. They had a lot of workers but they told me I had to wait until my ticket came up in order. I waited until they finished basically the whole lunch rush. Stopped by while driving through Hickory. Totally worth it! Much better than the fast food fare all around at this exit, and just as quick. We wanted something healthy but satisfying. The restaurant was clean and spacious, and we were helped by a lovely young lady (Solice) at the counter who cheerfully made suggestions. We ended up choosing Garden Panini and a Steak Panini. Well, clean, but this doesn't matter when you get food poisoning. Well, the chicken soup I ordered tasted like canned or reheated. I still ate it with my salad as it was a combo. within 30 minutes after consuming lunch, I had food poisoning. It was nothing like a virus. I felt poisoned! Stopped in for a simple salad with grilled chicken. I just happened to see them preparing my food. The grilled chicken looked like what you would get from McDonald's. It was warmed up in a microwave. My salad came with a side of bread, which I watched her carry from one counter to another in her hand without a glove. I was extremely put off by this. They then took my salad behind a wall that I could not see behind (I presume to add the warmed up grilled chicken to the top of the salad) which made me leery to even eat it after that. Had I not watched the worker carry my bread bare handed I probably would not have much issue with this restaurant, but if she was willing to carry the bread bare handed in front of me, what is going on behind the scenes? read more

Great turkey reuben for $10. 1st time I tried it I asked for a special order (turkey instead of pastrami) on my Reuben. Prepared and toasted perfectly and with Kettle Chips and a nice pickle, I will definitely be back to try something else. read more
