Baked potato

Unfortunately nothing good to say about Hickory Hut. Dingy dining room, dated and dark. Uncomfortable and worn benches. Uninterested and rough staff. Basically tossed our food near us on the table. And the food. Really bad. Brisket was a chopped up over-sauced bland mass. Literally not brisket. More like chopped beef. Pulled pork was weird and had the texture of refried beans. Cole slaw was dry and served in a container that looked like it had just come from the supermarket. Baked potato was ok, but pretty greasy. No idea how this place has 4.5 stars.

Always friendly service! The restaurant has some great memorabilia on the walls and it is kept up clean for its age. Food was delicious, and even though I ordered 1/2 a potato, they brought me a whole one and said they messed up. Took the other half home with me! Good people and place!

Brisket Sandwich & Fries

Good food, nice people. The area around the place looks run down and kinda sketchy. The default sauce has I think, way too much sugar, but the brisket is smoked well, and has a lot of flavor. The buns hold up great and they have a bucket of crunchy pickle spears you can just got more of when you feel like it. Looking at what's around if you are coming off of 70, I think this place is definitely one of the better options and worth stopping into.

What an outstanding place to have BBQ while traveling on business. My team in Salina suggested this place for lunch. Luckily we went after the lunch rush. Not knowing when the best time to go we went at 1230, still a great time since there were good choices to choose from. Typically with good BBQ places they run out. Obviously they didn't run out on the choices we made. The service was great and the staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend trying this place out! I choose the two meat platter, brisket & pulled pork. My two sides were baked beans & potato salad. I must admit the beans were outstanding. The potato was worthy as well. Both meats were smoked perfectly! I tried two different BBQ sauces I loved them both. I did not try the Spicy version. I'm not sure if my travels will take me back through Salina but I'd definitely eat here again! The restaurant had a nice vibe to it and it felt like a place you'd be very comfortable eating at!

My father in law was raving about this place so we had to try it out. We're in town from California for my brother in law's graduation and we grabbed some food here to celebrate after! We ordered the Family Feast and a whole chicken which was enough to feed all 8 of us! Everything was so so so good!!! It definitely satisfied my bbq craving. The pork ribs, chicken, and sausages were cooked really well but my favorite was the sliced meat! Idk if it was pork or beef but it was very tender and everything just came together as I put extra bbq sauce over everything. Oh let me not forget about the baked beans! That was my favorite side, along with the coleslaw and potato salad. Yum!!! Aside from the good food, service was fast and our order was ready within 15 minutes.

Absolutely the best barbecue around. Is a very nice restaurant with a great staff. Prices are great. This is about our 10th time eating here!

Sweetest lady in the world (and the menu)

Great local place with lots of ambience. Food was great, portions large, and reasonably priced. Everything you want from a restaurant.

Beef Brisket Sandwich

Price was normal for a BBQ place for myself and another person was around $36. Good food but I wish there was a little more brisket on my burger but overall very pleased with my visit. The food came out very fast and all other sides (onions and such) are at a self serve type of area. The lady behind the counter when ordering was very sweet and helpful with the menu. Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through!

Stopped in for lunch on my way through town. Ordered the burnt ends sandwich, with baked beans, and fries. Order at counter service. Food delivered within a few minutes. Sandwich was good. The burnt ends were flat and pulled apart more than I am used to but still very good. Beans were tasty and had sausage mixed in. Fries and BBQ sauce average. Prices are fair. I loved the help yourself pickle and jalapeño stand.

It doesn't get better than a Korean grandma cooking in the open kitchen. We missed out on the lunch buffet, it's only on the weekends. We ordered off the menu and all were delicious! When I went to sit down the person came out to check as to whether I ate eggs or not which I thought was very thoughtful. My food came out shortly after that. It was a good sized portion of noodles, veggies and tofu that tasted incredible and was beautiful to boot. Really enjoyed stopping here for lunch and I hope to have the opportunity again to try something else.

My husband and I were passing through Salina and staying overnight at the hotel, so when we…read morediscovered there was a Burger Theory attached to the property, we were actually genuinely excited. We have eaten at Burger Theory locations in Phoenix before and have always had fairly good experiences there, so this felt like a comfortable and easy dinner option after a long travel day on the road. Unfortunately, this particular visit wound up being pretty underwhelming. When we arrived, much of the restaurant seating area appeared closed off, and guests were being kept primarily within one corner section of the dining room. I assume this was done to simplify cleanup and staffing management for the evening, which I can certainly understand from an operational standpoint, but it also gave the restaurant a strangely restricted atmosphere. Now after a long drive, honestly almost any hot meal feels welcome. But the food itself simply did not feel up to the Burger Theory standard we were expecting based on previous visits elsewhere. The burger meat tasted under-seasoned and lacked the savory richness and flavor I usually associate with a good burger. The food also arrived a little less warm than it probably should have been, which made the meal feel even less satisfying overall. And unfortunately, the service did not help improve the experience. Our server was difficult to find for long stretches of time, and on the occasions when she was visible, she often appeared focused on her phone instead. At a certain point my husband and I mostly just exchanged that quiet married-couple glance that says: "Well... this is probably not going to improve." Needless to say, we left feeling fairly disappointed and honestly just ready to finish dinner and retreat back to the room for the evening. Not every road trip meal becomes memorable for the right reasons, I suppose.

This time maybe a bit different. Our group of 8 started out with the Potato Skins and The Sampler! Both were very good and would definitely recommend! Another chose the Leroy Brown, 2 more got Bacon Cheese Burger, another 1/2 Club - overall the lunch was well liked. Our server was great and she kept on top of everything. We ordered trash can nachos and sliders as our meals. The nachos were the first thing to come out, yes before the appetizer. They were terrible, no lettuce, no shredded cheese, had ordered with extra jalapenos, there were none. The top had some kind of hamburger gravy looking stuff on it, the pico was completely hidden, they didn't taste good. The cheeseburger sliders came out and one had mushrooms on it. Finally the sampler came out and it was all pretty much burnt, the rattle snake eggs had bacon on it that was so done it just feel apart and the peppers were burnt. The waitress came over and got us boxes and left the check and listen to our concerns. She obviously didn't want to face the problem because she never came back to the table.
