Completely unacceptable. I placed an order the day before, only to be told at 11:30 AM the next day that they couldn't deliver due to location--something that should have been disclosed upfront or flagged immediately. I promised Hicksville that I would write a review for them because they were extremely helpful in getting a very important bouquet off to a very important person from my very important boss. I made sure to have them send me a photo before they were delivered. I was shocked because it was completely not what I wanted. So I made them get their delivery person to return the flowers and they worked with me to make it right. What they were going to send was a bouquet with a big hole in it. They didn't have the colors right of the flowers I ordered and it didn't look like what I expected. However, there was a person named Fie who worked very hard with me and kept sending photos until I was somewhat happy. This place will definitely take shortcuts, but they really did go far in trying to please me and for that reason I am giving them four stars. We went to the shop, several times, before actually placing the order because we weren't sure what we wanted or what the look/theme of our event would be. Faith helped us each time we visited the shop and her expertise and knowledge was quite apparent. She helped us to decide on our centerpieces and pointed out many things we didn't even consider like the size of the tables and the overall decor of the venue. These scammers!!! Every year my aunt, who lives in Canada, sends a holiday floral arrangement to my moms house. Unfortunately this year she ordered from Hicksville florists. She paid over $85 dollars for a deluxe arrangement. Sadly what my mom received was nothing close to deluxe! A few $5 carnations, miniature roses and a piece of Christmas tree branch, with a poorly constructed bow tied to a broken twig was left on the front steps. Not hand delivered as they told my aunt. These people are scam artists! Never order from them!!! You're better off picking up some flowers from Trader Joe's, or BJ's. Another yelp fail for me. (I should have read the previous reviews) Before reading reviews for this place I was in a hurry to get Mother's Day flowers and this was on my way home. After walking in I tried to talk to one of the workers about what I wanted and a price range, the woman was very curt and impatient with me. IM SORRY BUT IT WAS THE FIRST TIME FOR ME BEING IN A FLORIST. I didn't know what the hell to do and she wasn't much help. They had a ton of carnations (blech) and not much else to choose from. A lot of the flowers did not look fresh and healthy. At one point she pointed to a big flower piece and said it will look like that, but smaller and I explained to her that I don't like it looking all busy with all the different flowers that I like to keep it simple with only two kinds. I picked out two flowers that I liked (purple and yellow) and she took a few stems from each and brought them to the back to be made into a bouquet, she told me they would just use some green fillers to make it a little bigger. And I thought ok perfect. I was waiting at the cashier alongside two other ppl when another person walked in and ordered a dozen red roses. The lady who helped me yelled to the back to the guy to make them and said "AND MAKE THEM BEAUTIFUL" I almost laughed, what about the other ppl waiting for their flowers? are ours not gonna be beautiful? One of the guys from the back brought out a bouquet and I thought it was for the guy next to me until they were done wrapping it up and said it was mine... That thing? Late on Thanksgiving Day I received word that my father's sister, and last surviving aunt, had passed away at age 100 in Glen Cove, NY. Living in Colorado and not having visited her since 2015, I was unfamiliar with the area and began googling florists to deliver a sympathy arrangement for the Visitation to be held at a local Funeral Home the next day at 1:00 PM. I chose Hicksville Florist based on their comprehensive web site, extensive selection, reasonable pricing, and guaranteed same day delivery. I called the next morning shortly after their 9:00 AM opening. Mario answered the phone and immediately recognized the urgency of my situation. He said the Funeral Home was only 8 miles away and assured me that it would be no problem getting the flowers there in time for the Visitation. I decided on one of the beautiful standing baskets, whereupon Mario explained to me that one of the varieties in the arrangement was currently unavailable, but they would be happy to substitute others of equal or higher value for the same price. I agreed, and we proceeded with the transaction. Due to a minor technical glitch on my end, our line of communication was disrupted once or twice, but Mario called me back immediately to clarify and confirm my order. Shortly thereafter I received an email with a photo of the finished product which arrived at the Funeral Home in plenty of time for the scheduled Visitation. To my delight, it was even lovelier than the one pictured on the web site, rendering the whole experience more than worthy of 5 Stars for Hicksville Florist. read more

I have never done a bad Yelp Review, because I usually work out any issues with the vendor, but unfortunately this vendor does not like to work things out. Long story short, I ordered flowers for my mother in law, and the bouquet received barely resembled what was ordered. When I spoke the florists, she said to take it up with Teleflora. Teleflora told me to take it up with the business. When I spoke with this business, the lady was extremely rude and stated the bouquet that was received was better that what was ordered as it had "2 extra stems". I informed her the flowers were old and wilting, and then she absolutely lost her cool and started yelling at me. Very calmly I told her I just wanted the bouquet that was purchased and nothing else. I sent her a picture of the arrangement. Again, she told me the bouquet was "better" than what was ordered. Her compromise was for me to bring the bouquet to her and she would replace it. The recipient is elderly and does not drive. I then told her I would just give her a review on Yelp, and she really lost her temper and said Yelp reviews are illegal. Hicksville Flowers delivered a very important sympathy bouquet for a lost loved one, even through many time-consuming technical difficulties. The address was very hard to find as there happened to be two streets with the same name in the town of the delivery destination and the correct address turned out to be located in a gated community which I was unaware of. Unfortunately, I was unable to answer the phone calls from the delivery man about this issue but after over an hour of trying, he was able to make the delivery. I'm so grateful he took the time and effort to figure out this tricky situation and did not give up, although I'm sure he had many other deliveries to make that day. I went here for flowers for my mom's funeral along with my daughter in law and the whole time I felt so uncomfortable only because I wasn't buying a bigger or spending more! I was told over and over again that people buy the big package deal. DO NOT USE this florist, if you want flowers delivered that is. I placed an order through the FTD web site for a next day flower delivery for my mother-in-law, this was on a Thursday, Hicksville Flowers picked up the order. Friday came and went and on Saturday I asked my wife if her mother received the flowers. My mother-in-law did not receive the flowers. I called FTD (at this point I did not know the name of the florist). FTD contacted Hicksville Flowers and they stated that they went to deliver but my mother-in-law was not home. They went to a neighbor to ask if they would hold the flowers for her. The neighbor declined (so the florist says) so the florist "porched" the flowers (again so they say), meaning they left the flowers at her front door. My mother-in-law came home to no flowers on her porch. A few things my mother-in-law has lived at this address for 40 years. All of her neighbors know and love her. And when she asked around she could not find this mysterious neighbor who declined to hold the flowers. Furthermore, all of her neighbors emphatically deny ever even seeing flowers at her door. When FTD called Hicksville Flowers on Saturday they said that they would deliver the flowers the next day (a Sunday). The following day my mother-in-law stayed at home (missing church services I might add) and around noon she received a call from the florist stating that they would deliver the flowers to her later in the afternoon. Later in the afternoon came and went and still no flowers. My mother in law called again and they told her that she would have to drive to their shop (about 30 minutes away) and pick up the flowers! Uhhhhmmmmm, excuse me but I did not spend $15.00 in delivery fees for my mother in law to have to drive and pick up flowers. This business appears to be unprofessional at best or shady (which is probably closer to the truth). Hicksville Flowers slogan "Where Excellence Prevails" should be altered to "Where Mediocrity Prevails". In the end I called FTD and they were able to have the arrangement upgraded and delivered by another florist. read more

I originally ordered the "Sunrise Rose Bouquet" (Orange Roses) through 1-800-Flowers.com and was notified that they were out of that bouquet. They referred me to a local florist who said they had the orange roses I requested (Hicksville Flowers & Fruiterers. The information relayed to Hicksville Flowers was to deliver a bouquet of orange roses. When I checked with Hicksville Flowers, they confirmed that they had orange roses and would be sending them out on the delivery date that I chose (2/13). The roses I received on that date were not orange, but red. When I called Hicksville Flowers back, a different individual answered and said that the request they received from 1-800-Flowers was for red roses and not orange. When telling him these were not the color I ordered, and questioning what they had received from 1-800-Flowers, he very rudely cut me off and told me there was nothing he could do. I offered to return them on the spot since I ordered that color for a very specific reason, and they said they do not take returns, and again told me there was nothing he could do. I checked back with 1-800-Flowers.com and they confirmed that the request was for Orange Roses. Did Hicksville Flowers run out of orange and just sent me red thinking I wouldn't notice? Did whoever that individual was think that by being "tough" on the phone that I would just cut my losses and deal with what they gave me? No. I ordered a product, paid for that product, and should receive that product. Long story short, I went to Shoprite where luckily they had the roses I needed, and I made the bouquet myself. She was happy, and that was all that mattered, but in hindsight I will never do business with Hicksville Flowers again. read more
