It's hard to necessarily pinpoint what exactly is the most essential piece to a wedding, but perhaps many people might say flowers. I suppose without any floral arrangements, things wouldn't be too festive and so you have to find just the right flowers that'll do. My advice? Try Flowers By Burton because they'll give you anything you want. I mean that's basically how it works. You pay a certain price and FBB will help to create the exact floral concoction that you desire. For us, our wedding was happening in the fall and we had our specific colors that we were using (steel and navy blue with maroon highlights). Burton was able to meet with us and discuss different ideas and flower types we might want to use. Mike is who we initially met with and he was super chill and helpful. He had a great knowledge of flowers and wedding items (bouquets, etc.) which helped make the process that much easier. What was also great was how easy it was for Burton to create centerpieces that worked with the lanterns we wanted to use. They were able to build a nice ring of flowers around the lantern that kept the centerpiece compact yet still elegant. I'll also give them some props for helping to differentiate my boutonnière from the rest of my groomsmen as that was the only way to tell the difference between us (my white flowers and their maroon). Oh and everything was delivered right on time which is extremely essential when trying to get a wedding orchestrated. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about Flowers By Burton. They've been around for a long time and for good reason. Their prices are respectable and they'll work with you to find exactly what you want. I was a little behind on booking a florist for my wedding, so I immediately chose Flowers by Burton when I saw that they were responsive, a little bit more affordable than some others, and most importantly: promised me tulips for my bouquets in June when quite a number of florists were hesitant to. I love how they talked to me on the phone and discussed what I wanted, including the inspiration photos that I sent them. Then, we had another meeting in person to go over my flower choices. On the week of my wedding, they also sent me pictures of the tall centerpiece and bridal bouquet and made adjustments based on my feedback. I understand that they didn't want to make them so early in advance of the wedding but it would've been better if they sent the pictures earlier because a bride has a lot of last minute tasks to do before the wedding and checking emails for photos should not be another item on their to-do list. I wish they also sent pictures of the other arrangements that I ordered because I wasn't too fond of the wrist corsage for the moms. They were very loose and the flowers were too big. In most of the wedding pictures, the flowers were sitting on the side of the wrist because the corsage was so loose and the heaviness of the flowers made them fall.. The centerpieces bouquets looked beautiful though. My only complaint is that my bridal bouquet was so thick in the stems that it was hard to hold with just one hand. But I guess tulips have thicker stalks so it's a tulip problem, and it's not super noticeable in pictures. It was very nice of them to include a small bouquet for me to throw. I love how the arrangements were the same price no matter which flowers I wanted and that the boutonnieres were free of charge. I was considering pocket boutonnieres instead but they were $25 each iirc. I have to say that my favorite arrangements were the ones on the floor in front of the sweetheart table. They're exactly how I imagined them to be, and they turned out sooo perfectly. They did such a phenomenal job delivering and setting up all the flowers too! I originally wanted all white flowers and made a complete 180 change to very colorful, springy flowers. They came earlier than expected to drop off personal flowers at our hotel and then set up at our venue. They even threw in a toss bouquet that we weren't expecting! Our chuppah was so gorgeous and all of our guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the florals were. The guests were also so excited to take home the centerpieces at the end of the night! Burton's delivered well beyond what I could have expected! The team was instrumental in helping me design the perfect centerpieces and chuppah as I don't know much about flowers. The one flower I know and love are orchids. Typically this would be a very expensive flower to focus on but Burton's pricing structure didn't limit me as other florists would have. I asked for centerpieces to incorporate light pinks and purples with non traditional flowers as well as orchids. Together at Burton's we googled different types of flowers and found a mix of a beautiful arrangement. I was specific in saying I didn't want traditional roses or hydrangea in my centerpieces. I wanted my centerpieces, chuppah and bouquet to feel different from all the other weddings I've attended. For my bouquet I had a cascading bouquet of orchids. The bouquet was a complete showstopper. The centerpieces and chuppah were similar flowers but I wanted the chuppah to really pop. The chuppah was bright and fun and could not have been better executed. While I went into this not knowing much about flowers or really thinking they would too important for my party, I came out beyond impressed and completely satisfied. I didn't even really know what I wanted but what I got was amazing quality. The consultations were stress free and accommodating. Had an appointment for bridal flower consultation and arrived on time; however there was an appointment going on so we were asked to wait in the SAME room as the couple discussing their flowers. Awkward. Finally someone came out who was clearly not expecting to be the one helping us. He took us into an office and quickly went over our list of items, showed very minimal examples and when he did, it was on his super dimmed iPad. Used Burton's for our wedding and was very happy with the work they did. I only used them for bouquets, but all of them were so fresh and beautiful when they were delivered. They lasted for a week after the wedding too! They were happy to do a "mock-up" of my bridal bouquet a few days before the wedding so I could make sure it was exactly what I wanted. My only complaint is that you don't really get an itemized price list of everything on your quote. They basically just make a list of everything you need and then give you one total at the end. Very disappointed in our recent experience with Flowers by Burton. It was rough enough planning a wedding during Covid, and we were specific in our wishes for colors and types of flowers chosen. When we finally saw a sample of a centerpiece a few days before the event it was full of many white hydrangeas just to fill it up. I called and said we had wanted more deep reds and Mike curtly said " got it" and hung up. (after we paid in full)Well there was barely any reds and a lot of greens, greys and fillers. My biggest complaint was the size of my daughters bouquet, which looked like the bridesmaids size? And the maid of honors was not larger as requested. We first visited Burton 02/22/21 on which day we discussed flowers for my daughter's church & reception on 5/22 & a post wedding day lunch 5/23. No firm estimates were given at the time as number of items we needed were still in question due to unpredictable covid wedding protocol that would be in place, we were told to come back 2 months before wedding, which we did on 03/26. We expected that on this day we would see sample arrangements of centerpieces for reception & post lunch. We went in March but were told samples can't be made until a week before wedding. I have no idea why we were told to come as nothing was done that day. We again made an appointment for 05/15, 1 week before wedding, hoping to see sample arrangements. Again they weren't able to be done as they didn't have the flowers in hand. At that time I asked how much we owe, but they wouldn't be able to tell us until Tuesday, 5/18. I received a VM from Burton Wed AM with the amount owed for Saturday, Sunday and the total and they asked payment be made that day or Thursday. The same day I did get a certified check and dropped it off. I was hoping the flowers would be in so I could see a sample arrangement and send pic to my daughter but again no luck. They promised they would email pics Thursday. Please note in mid April my daughter did provide Burton pictures of what she would like for each day. My big mistake? I should have never paid in full until they showed us the sample arrangements so if needed we could have made changes. Running around crazy the next 2 days we forgot to look for the email but it never came as due to typo in the email address by Burton's staff. I do put the onus on us for forgetting to check for the email. But I also blame them as the email would have been returned to them as undeliverable, if they bothered to check they would have seen that they typed gmial not gmail and that was enough to make it undeliverable. I check emails several times so if they sent it properly I would have seen it. Issues: Luckily I was in church to await that delivery, one item didn't come. Being I was there i made rep aware & he made a call. Luckily they were on another truck but made its way to church on time. Make sure someone is in church with itemized list of what is to come. The Saturday centerpieces were ok however they looked nothing like the picture my daughter sent. Yes to many it's a minor thing but to a bride she has a vision and it wasn't met, upsetting her. In my email exchange Burton felt shape was similar so that was okay???? Meanwhile they promise any flower? Are employees vision impaired that they failed to see flowers in picture submitted to them by my daughter as to the centerpiece she wanted? There were hardly any hydrangea in picture! Sunday, the flowers were fine but when guests picked up centerpieces to take home the gold paint from vase stuck to their hands, when I complained to Burton's they said it was a supplier issue but this shouldn't have happened. Lessons learned, this vendor does come recommended by others but you have to keep on top of them, DON'T PAY UNTIL YOU SEE WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. I get the impression they didn't order the flowers needed to make my daughters arrangements the way she wanted & improvised with what they had around. While Burton's and I were exchanging emails re: what transpired he did offer to give a future arrangement for free, I don't want it. Also I requested an itemized bill by item and cost of each item, it was like pulling teeth. He felt the FINAL BILL PAID RECEIPT was sufficient which just listed the total paid for each day. Finally he provided that info. Between both days we ordered 22 centerpieces, 2 garlands (another big letdown), 2 sweetheart table arrangements and the flowers for church. If we had to do it again we would have used our local florist that we go to but it's too late for that. Burtons has a factory feel. Whenever I went to my local florist to order centerpieces for other events the day I went he had flowers in stock and immediately made a sample arrangement the same day. Lesson learned. Burton's isn't a regular florist, they only have flowers to make arrangements ordered but seem to fall short on ordering proper flowers to make requested arrangements. Luckily we ordered the bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages from Etsy. We had the flowers a month ahead of time and they were gorgeous and exceeded our expectations. They were made out of wood. Unfortunately they didn't make centerpieces. Flowers by Burton was one of the two recommended florists by our wedding venue, The Vineyards. Burton's was not the first florist I met with while planning our wedding, but after our meeting, I knew they would be our last stop. We called them back and booked them the next day. Burton will say they can do anything you present them with. However, their execution on what you actually want will be subpar. I had provided Mike with actual printed pictures of each arrangement needed for my wedding. I couldn't have been more specific on how which flowers I wanted and figured the pictures would be a great model for them and to make sure everyone is on the same page. I met several times with Mike to go over specifics and stressed how large the mantle was at our venue and how we needed a substantial arrangement. What we got and what we paid for were very different things. I had specifically requested garden roses as peonies were not in season. We got standard roses in my bouquet as well as the bridesmaids. The sample arrangements we were shown the Thursday before the wedding looked very full and with many of the flowers we wanted. What we got the day of were skimpy centerpieces which used more filler flowers such as hydrangeas more than anything else. They were also wilting by the time reception started. The bride bouquet was COMPLETELY different from the picture provided. Mike changed the bouquet the night before but it still wasn't what I wanted. He sent the florist designer to deliver the flowers to fix it THE DAY OF MY WEDDING. Clearly Mike doesn't understand that brides have better things to do than change their bridal bouquet the day of. Mike, just so you know that is why brides make appointments with professionals months and weeks prior to the actual day. Brides do not have time to "fix" their bouquet the day of. All in all, if you don't really care about the little details or what the quality of your flowers are than Burtons is up your alley. We knew we were going to use Flowers by Burton for our daughter's wedding this July, since they had done such a great job for us in the past (3 bar/bat mitzvahs). But Mike and his team really outdid themselves this time. We had an outdoor reception, under a tent, with the ceremony in the adjacent barn, at Jedediah Hawkins Inn, in Jamesport. The table displays alternated between floral runners, and centerpieces in flower boxes and mason jars. Our daughter decided on the color scheme, and her desire to incorporate thistle into the displays, but otherwise let Mike choose the flowers. His choice of red piano garden roses, dahlias, silver dollar eucalyptus, hydrangea and amaranthus showed brilliant color, matched perfectly to what our daughter was looking for, and fit right in with the rustic nature of the setting. Flowers by Burton has always been very relaxed and easy to work with, making the process as stress free as possible. They arrive exactly when they say they will, and everything is in place in plenty of time before the event begins (again, no stress). For our daughter's wedding, we ran into an unforeseen problem with the chuppah (wedding canopy) that was being supplied by a separate vendor, 4 days before the ceremony. Miraculously, even though all of our flowers had been ordered and it was too late to have additional flowers shipped in time, Mike somehow managed at the eleventh hour to decorate the chuppah and have it blend in seamlessly with the rest of the decor. Nobody at the wedding could tell that it was a last minute fix. Flowers by Burton has consistently provided us with honest and professional service, and the most beautiful flowers we could have asked for. The flowers for my wedding were absolutely gorgeous! Burton's did an amazing job! They gave me a ton of flowers for such a great price. My centerpieces & church flowers were absolutely beautiful, as was my bouquet & all my bridesmaids bouquets. They added a special touch by wrapping all the bouquets in the extra fabric left over from all my bridesmaids dresses. I highly recommend them :) read more
