truly not recommending this place to my worst enemy. leasing office is fine but they're just working for satan in the form of air communities. insanely unethical company that only cares about lining it's pockets. extra $130/mo for parking (two spots.) don't be fooled by lower rent. apartments are old and creaky, you can hear everything upstairs. extremely inaccessible entrances, and they don't offer you a gate fob, there is one singular entrance on the entire property and it's in the most inconvenient location. laundry room was "renovated" to undersized machines that they'll of course overcharge for. for some reason they consider smoking to be one of the greater disturbances on the property as opposed to the dogs barking at early hours in the morning, the groundskeepers beginning work at 8am, and the loud music and yelling of neighbors during the late hours of the night! For how many places there are in Escondido you can do soooooo much better for this price. The rent looks lower but you're basically paying 3k. Can't wait to get out of this hellscape. read more

We are finally out of this hell hole after more than three years living here!! The list is long of things that happen at this apartments. Dog crap everywhere, loud neighbors, not enough parking spots, laundry room always filthy and washer and dryer machines often broken. On may 5 we lost electricity on half the apartment and they took a freaking day to fix it!!! Me and my husband called them multiple times and they kept saying the maintenance guys would be over shortly,well they did go, 24 hours later!!! And when we complained about this to the office they didn't believe us, yup... oh and if someone parks for 8 hours on your designated parking spot (that you have to pay for) and you call the "wonderful lease office people" they are gonna tell you to call the towing truck yourself and that you have to take care of the bill. many more shitty things happened here but I am so glad that we are out of there and I don't want to look back. Hidden Cove - Laundry room always filthy and parts of the ceiling falls off almost every month!!! - Apartments Near Me - Escondido, California

The only reason this is getting a star at all is because Karla is great and the finishings in the apartment are nice. The complex, however, is incredibly mismanaged and living here has been an endless string of inconveniences followed by piss poor remedies. The biggest and most glaring issue by far is the parking situation. There is now NO guest parking in the complex as every spot, covered or uncovered, is paid for. This should be fine only no one is following the new parking rules resulting in someone parking in the your spots 50% of the time. You'd think they would do something to address this but instead they send an email telling everyone they're not going to enforce this, you can no longer file a complaint, and you can't do anything on your own to enforce your spot. (i.e. leave a note on the car). If someone is in your spot, that's too bad for you. Now any guest you have visit you will have to fight for parking along Del Dios Rd or as the leasing office instructs you, to park across the street at Dick's. There's also no way to get through the gates on Del Dios if you don't have a clicker so you either have to walk around the corner to the leasing office, or hop the fence. The apartments are roach infested. They will send the bug guy to come out over and over but none of that fixes the issues. The only seemingly realistic issue short of tearing down the complex all together is to bug bomb and fumigate the entire building. Is that going to happen? Absolutely not. Our neighbors moved out and while they were remodeling the unit, the bug guy came FIVE times. I'll bet $10 there are still roaches in that unit. There is absolutely no "community" here. Now I'm not looking to have bbqs with my neighbors and talk story about how the kids are, but no one can even mutter a polite "hello" or "nice day we're having, huh?". Is this an issue of the complex? Maybe not, but it's worth noting if you're considering moving here. Aside from the community, or lack thereof, you get homeless people wandering through frequently, digging through the dumpsters and sometimes even sleeping in the dumpster rooms. There are many other issues that make this place an absolute nightmare to live at like the 60-day required notice to vacate, the laundry rooms that don't work half the time, the A/C that cuts off after 10 minutes (which maintenance fails to fix), but I'll leave it at that for now. We can't wait to get the hell out of this place. read more

The reviews that speak of roaches are right. Luckily I have never had to live in this dump, I simply went to pick up an appliance I purchased from one of the tenants at the complex. When I got in through the gates I was greeted by trash strewn all over the streets pouring out of the over flowing dumpsters. Once I got the appliance home to my house I opened my trunk and encountered an infestation of roaches pouring out of the motor parts of the appliance. I can't even imagine what the infestation INSIDE the apartments is like. I have now left three voicemails with the leasing office and they refuse to call me back to chat about their health code issues. Whatever you do, DO NOT MOVE IN HERE . I moved in at the beginning of the year and it has been the perfect transition into San Diego county! Ashley the property manager made the process smooth and was super responsive when I had any questions. After the love in we had no issues and the community is really quiet which is great. Since move in we've only had one maintenance issue which was a light bulb going out but maintenance got there asap when I put in my maintenance request and it was no hassle at all which is nice for a bigger community. Having a Target and Applebees across the street is also a huge plus! read more

Would not recommend these apartments to anyone. I've only lived here 1.5 months out of my 18 month lease. I'm in the new "renovated" ones and the ceiling is so thin I can hear every single thing my upstairs neighbors do. I've lived on the bottom floor of three different apartments in the past and none of them had ceilings/ floors so thin. I can hear the flood board creaking and every step they take as if they're on the same floor as me. I haven't slept a single night through since I moved in because my upstairs neighbors wake up at 3am so I have to also. Cockroaches galore as soon as I moved in. Parking is an extra $30 and it's not even relatively close to where the unit is. If you want something closer it's $40 and there is no guest parking whatsoever, guests have to park way outside the complex on the side streets. Way too many apartments in Escondido to be paying 3k for this hellhole. read more

We are a military family that was given new orders so we are moving . I was told previously we would be fine we can give them orders and break the lease . Now , we have to pay for a whole month of rent when we won't even be living there anymore ! $2,300 for an apartment to be empty and nobody living in it ! We've had no issues until now . Not in the leasing contract or the website does it state we have to pay for another months rent ! We aren't even gonna be living there by the end of this month why pay for next months rent ? Don't move here! I recently had my car broken into and found out some of the other residents did too! I had expensive items stolen that can't be replaced and there aren't even cameras for me to be able to find out who did this. I lived at Hidden Cove for over 4 years. It's in a convenient location, the grounds are well kept, and the maintenance staff is friendly and helpful. That's about where the "pros" end. I will say this first because it's important: there is an increasing criminal element in this complex. I felt very safe there for years, but sometime in early 2019 I noticed many new faces moving in... including some flaunting (not just having, but truly showing off) ankle bracelets. Since then, there have been several violent disputes in the public spaces near the children's playground that have required intervention from the police. I have personally seen several obvious drug deals just outside the gate leaving the parking lot as well. In fact, a friend in the complex saw that same dealer attempting to break into her neighbor's apartment. There was also a notice that a resident walking her small dog just outside the complex had her dog killed by another dog, whose owner just left the scene. By the time I left, I did not feel safe and I worry for the many families with small children in the complex. I very rarely needed help from on-site management, but they almost never followed up or did what they said they would do. Several months back I reported an issue with the laundry room, and it took days for them to even call the company to fix it, so it was unusable for around a week. They even lost the appointment I made in person for my move-out inspection. Very disorganized. Also, they seem to be fond of sending out emails disallowing increasingly harmless things. The most recent one I remember was that children can no longer draw on the sidewalk with chalk. There was never anything inappropriate in the chalk, just suns and hopscotch squares, but apparently it's not the image Hidden Cove is going for. The air conditioner is useless in the summer. Its BTU rating is simply too low for the size of the room it's in (the living room/kitchen). It feels nice and cool about 2 feet from the unit, and then makes no difference anywhere else in the room, but boy will you feel it on your SDG&E bill. Late 2018 they installed a LuxerOne package pickup area. You get a code on your phone and use it to pick up your package. That's great... when your package is where it's supposed to be. Within one month 3 separate packages were not in the locker when it opened, which each took over a week to resolve with the locker company. Also, they don't exactly make it obvious that if you leave your package for more than 3 days you will be charged $10 per day, and then it is returned to sender after 7 days. I forgot a package once and never received any reminder or notice that I would be charged. Overall, this place is far, far too expensive for what you get. Parking is difficult unless you pay an additional fee (on top of paying for your car to park inside the lot, which is not included) for a dedicated slot. You can count on rent increasing by over $100 every time you renew your lease. I have warned several friends away from this place, and I'm happy that several people I came to know in the complex will be ending their lease soon. I don't recommend it! read more

IM PAYING 2000 a month to not sleep and be miserable. The hot tub is sooooo gross I have gotten sick from it. The gardeners blow all the crap all over your patio. There is no visitor parking. I needed a temporary apartment after I sold my house and was looking for anotherhouse . Hidden Cove fit my needs (close to work, close to my son's school, etc). While the address here says Del Dios Hwy, there's another section of Tanglewood Lane behind Vintana. Here are the pros: 1. Dog friendly- many apartment complexes will not take large dogs. 2. Pretty spacious grounds- lots of greenery. It doesn't look like a motel converted into apartments 3. Maintenance/Leasing office staff are very nice 4. Some units have laundry in them 5. Two pools, a playground, and a fitness center 6. Dog poop stations everywhere and they never ran out of poop bags 7. My upstairs apartment was bright with a skylight in the dining room. Now, the cons: 1. The monthly pet rent is 85/month. Yes, I paid 85 dollars a month for my 70 pound dog who is basically a carpet. 2. Regardless of how many poop bag stations there are, people do not clean up after their dog(s). 3. There was more police activity toward the end of my residence there. I would occasionally see random people sifting through the garbage cans for recyclable objects. 4. While the rent is market value (I paid 1909 for a 2 bedroom with washer/dryer in unit), their utilities are insane. It's through Conservice and every month, my bill went up 20 dollars even though I had cut back on many things such as running my dishwasher, using my clothes dryer only when necessary, etc. Conservice is a rip off. 5. Onsite parking permit is 10 dollars a month, but if you live on the Tanglewood side, there's no other place to park. A carport is more. 6. Based on where your apartment is, you can hear Vintana (yay, great music!) and the Lexus dealership (boo when they are constantly repairing cars). I knew Hidden Cove wouldn't be long term so I didn't settle in or really make it feel like home. It served a purpose. Would I recommend it to others? Doubtful. read more

Horrible place to live, especially for the price. All they care about is taking your money. My wife and I have lived here for a couple of years and every year things keep getting worse. They charge you to to park in the complex and claim that if you do not have a sticker they will tow your car. LIES!!! They allow anyone to park in the complex and never tow cars. How do we know that? Every day we see new cars parked outside that do not have stickers and they keep pop up on the complex. So basically you pay for people to park in the complex. It may sound petty, but if they cannot control something like this and take care of you ad tenants then imagine how they will take care of you when a major problem occurs. Case in point, we had a huge bug problem for months. We called management and they kept sending the same horrible pest control person. All he did was spray the apartment, but it never fixed the problem. My wife and I had to spend our own money to find ways to fix it. I've wanted to move out since the day I moved in! COCKROACHES are out of control and they don't seem to care. Worst apartment complex I've ever lived in. 1. Parking is atrocious. My car was towed the first day I moved in and cost me $300. I also pay $45 a month to park in my own complex. 2. NO AC even though they tell you there is. It's a tiny wall unit in the kitchen so the bedrooms are 100 degrees in the summer. Fans don't help. We sweat to death and didn't sleep all summer. 3. Dog poop everywhere. Management doesn't care even if you report it. 4. Dirty sidewalks and trash bins overflowing. Everywhere you look it's filthy. 5. Laundry room is always dirty and half the time the machines don't work. 6. COCKROACHES roaming freely on the sidewalks at night and infest your apartment. 7. Counting down the days! We got a renewal for our lease and I literally laughed out loud! HELL NO!!! First off, when we moved in (our bad for not knowing it was a non smoking community) we got reported. Okay, fair enough. But then we got reported again and again and then again!! (Walked off grounds since the first report) This community is supposedly considered luxury? What! Y'all can't even fix a broke speed bump!!! Only thing luxury is the Lexus dealership next door! Trash is always!! Over flown, used needles all over the ground, dog shit is everywhere. Car got towed 2 weeks into living here. It costed me $243!! I got towed at 1130pm and I got it first thing when they opened FYI. I had a sticker in my car it just wasn't stuck on the window so- make sure you stick that shit on! Our toilet is about to croak any day, our kitchen sink won't stop leaking, 1 day ago- I was pooping; here came a cockroach crawling double eww! Parking is a joke! My husband and I pay for 2 stickers and a car port. Per sticker is $15 and a car port is $30. We literally have to leave a port open in case we want to go out- guaranteed a spot. Otherwise you're going to park across a street at target. Packages- I get all of my crap delivered at work now. I have to pay for delivered services too???? What! Ridiculous! I could never walk out my front gate without the neighbors little shit of a chihuahua not try to attack me. My dogs are well behaved and calm, they don't bark back- but now! I let them!!! Karen the community manager is rude, unhelpful, and rushes you when you talk to her. though we told them we wanted a one year lease, the contract ended up for 15 months and we were totally unaware of that. don't waste your time even coming in here. go somewhere else. who charges parking???and on top of that they would make you come to the office and sign all these random documents saying that we didn't sign them the day we moved in. totally unorganized....they even scribbled all over our termination form by putting wrong dates, which is hard to read from all those mistakes and crossing out things. Well, not with this place apparently the longer you live here the more you pay for rent. I came from the east coast where you get a good Sqft for your money, but it seems like you have to pay an outlandish price to get over a 1000sqft place. And what is the deal with the stupid "Community Laundry Facilities" where i come from apartment complexes with community laundries are considered the ghetto. And last time i checked California is supposed to be up to date with the 21st century. Get washers and dryers in ALL of your apartments!! Lived here for a year and a half in a second floor 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit. Pros: Staff was helpful and responsive when we needed something. The garbage disposal went on us once and they had someone up to fix it right away. My unit was more so in the back so it was quiet which as nice. Liked that there were designated covered car ports you could get. The unit was not upgraded so it had that older feel but it was ok good working shape and had no issues with it. It is within walking distance of the large shopping center off ninth with was great. Centrally located but living in the back of the complex you didn't get as much noise as you'd except. Our neighbours kept to themselves and were quiet for the most part. It's a gated complex as well which was nice. Cons: parking without a reserved space could be a a pain in the evenings after work. My roommate didn't get a carport and had to park on the street half the time. That being said, guest parking basically didn't exist unless they parked out on the street too. The water pressure could've used some work but it wasn't too bad. All in all enjoyed the overall experience of living at Hidden Cove! read more

First, these ladies (word used loosely) will bad mouth you in Spanish to eachother. Chica, I speak Mexican too! Second, when you are finally sick enough to move out and need a rental reference, they WON'T GIVE IT! I paid my rent on time every month! Would it kill you to verify this to a new landlord when asked? These manager-itas said they didn't have a 'written request' from my new landlord. After said lessor faxed and emailed it with no action from Hidden Cove for a week, I finally picked up the request myself and hand carried it in. Then they said the request had to be on letterhead?? Hey, I'm renting a condo from some little old lady. She ain't got letterhead! Then they say 'corporate policy' prevents them from saying I was a good tenant! Well I called their corporate and there was no such policy. That's what it took to make these people do their jobs. Some v.p. in LA or Chicago lighting a fire under their butts. My first review of the apartments was nothing but good! After being here for a year now and it being time to renew our lease, we will not be doing so since we don't want to pay $1500+ to live with roaches, neighbors that stomp and exercise all night instead of sleeping like normal people. I understand everyone has different schedules, but we have a gym or outdoor space to exercise. Also, it's not us that brought the roaches because I've never had a problem in my past living situations. We should've been aware of the roach infestation problem when we signed the lease and Jen asked if we had roaches at our old place, I didn't think to ask if they had a problem since the apartment look pretty up to date. Also, there's a monthly charge for extermination added to your rent, even if you don't use that for your own apartment! I love the landscape of the apartments, the gym up top is pretty decent so my roommate, boyfriend and I used it a couple times a week. Maybe it was the location of the apartment we were put in which made things seem worse but we can't do it any longer. We even thought of just paying the $1000 to break our contract and leave. That's how bad it is. If you can deal with them then you'll love this place! read more

*Sept 2015 UPDATE:* An unreasonable 10% raise in rent means we will not be renewing our lease. -2 stars for 10% raise in rent -2 star for issues stated below (water bill is back to $80+ for my wife and I) Hidden Cove seemed a fairly decent place to live. We live in the back part on the hill and it's a quiet area. All in all we were fairly happy renters at Hidden Cove; until the rent raise and the return of the unbelievably high water bill. Like anything, buildings can start to deteriorate and HC is on top of it when it counts, we had a pipe burst and within a day they had a good crew of people come out to fix our walls, very professional. The service people are very friendly and helpful, Mario in particular is a gem that Hidden Cove should give a raise to. Things I like: - washer/dryer in-unit (stackable) - hard "wood" floors - AC/Heater work perfectly - The gym, while small, is very well put together and maintained fairly well. Things I don't like: - inefficient use of space (2 bedroom "plantation" layout) - Kitchen is functional, but very tiny and lacks a ton of storage Things I despise: - 60 day requirement for not renewing Yes it's in the contract but it's very unfair. In all my time I've yet to find another Apartment Complex require 60 days notice. So right now we have given notice but don't have a place to go yet since no other complex knows what will be available. It's downright despicable of AIMCO. Three issues to report: ONE: We had some trouble with unacceptably high water bills, more than five times what it should have been. After a few months the amount came down by 3/4 though HC did collect the high water charges for the two or three months we were charged, with no refund and the amount is still considerably more than what we use. Beware of shared water bills, it all depends on your neighbor's usage. *November 2015 update:* Water bill has been climbing steadily over the last couple of months, just hit 79.52 for last month. TWO: There is a quite a bit of nickel and dimming going on. I am not a big fan of being charged to park my vehicle; apartments in sub-burbs and non-city locations typically do not charge for parking. There is also a larger than normal fee for medium/large dogs; the fee should be standardized. THREE: Massive Brown Widow infestation in our backyard. If you do decide to move here, remember that the move out notice has to be given 60 days before not 30 days before like most places. I forgot and they didn't leave us any reminder. I'll take responsibility for not remembering though but that cost us $1000 to have an empty apartment plus they charge you $300 for it. We lived in the older version of the apartments (the lower numbered). They are not the nicest but it seemed fine for us at the time. The place was not very clean at move in. The shower was disgusting. I would never take a bath because it was mildewed underneath where the caulking is. You have to sit down or look underneath to see it. Yes, we moved into that. Pretty disgusting. I love baths too. I never took one there. The windows had cob webs and dirt in them. The oven is not standard size so big cookie sheets do not fit in there. There are no washer and dryers inside so you have to get quarters and haul it to the laundry room. I had no issues there in the laundry room. No one did anything and everyone was nice. Getting quarters wasn't so bad since I worked at a bank so I could just get them on the way home. The hardwood floors make noise. We were on the top floor so that sucks for the neighbors underneath. The place was unbearably hot. It was absolutely miserable. There is no central AC and the wall unit did absolutely nothing!!!! It did not work. It was miserable. Especially when the fires happened. I couldn't close the window and I would be pouring sweat all day. With California not getting much rain this year, it was a miserable time to live in these apartments on the top floor. The heat traveled up. So if you do attempt to live here make sure you get an apartment that is facing the correct way to minimize the discomfort. If you move here you will also want to buy a monthly permit parking space $20/month. It will just be easier. Especially in the evening. In the morning everyone is at work so there's no worries. The mailboxes are jacked so they wobble. We didn't have any issues with our mail being taken but you will see that they pop open and are hard to work with. The area is safe though. You will hear your neighbors a bit. My neighbors liked to have sex and scream loud. One good thing about move out is that they didn't try to deliberately take our deposit with a bunch of false charges (other than this $10 move out fee). Most places I've moved to they try to rip you off at move out. They didn't so that's a plus. But what did annoy me a bit is that once a lease is in two peoples names, it is customary to put the refund check in BOTH of our names. Not just my bf's, for legal reason. Luckily, I didn't care and just deposited it in one of our joint accounts. My biggest complaint at this apartment is just that it got so unbearably hot. I had a hard time doing my school work because the pens would slip out of my hand from sweat. It is not the worst place to live and if you don't mind the few nuisances then it is ok. First of all they showed us a updated apartment and said this is exactly how ours was going to look like they had us sign all the paperwork before we even got to see the actual apartment we were moving into. When we moved into our apartment it was not updated what so ever. After living there for about a month and a half our car got keyed from headlight to tailgate, the gates were never working and the management would not do anything to help. I'm locked out of my apartment because they installed some digital home locking system (SmartRent) that doesnt work for my access code. when I called the emergency maintenance number he could not help, he said yed call back. I waited an hour for his return call and he was relaying information to a woman at SmartRent. eventually she just called me. I was told that even though I'm on the lease, hidden cove moved me out of the smartrent system with no notification to me. Again the emergency code she supplied DID NOT WORK. still locked out. I was told she would "leave an open ticket for the engineers." so they can reply to her and then they can reply to me. My fiancé and I have loved living here. We moved in around a year ago and haven't had issues save for some unsavory neighbors that moved in recently below us, but that's no reflection on the complex itself. It should be noted that whenever we lodged a complaint about the neighbors I mentioned, the front office was always quick and responsive, and the maintenance team has been as well, usually out at our apartment the next day to fix whatever issue we have. The fitness center leaves a lot to be desired, as they only have a few machines and no barbells at all. The dumbbell set only goes up to 50lbs. as well, and one of the 35lbs dumbbells is missing. It's pet friendly, and they provide waste bags for dogs which is nice. Yes, it's pricey to live here, but you have to know that going into it. It's unfair to the complex to move in and then complain about the cost of everything when you knew beforehand that that was the case. All in all, it's been a pleasurable experience with the green scenery, beautiful trees, and our lovely apartment with its vaulted ceilings. All of our friends and family love coming over, and we love hosting. I would recommend this complex to anyone. read more

I have been living with the community for over a year now and have truly enjoyed it. First the apartment, I live in a 2bd/1ba 950 sq ft. It's huge! It has a large walk in closet and lots of storage! We have a couch in our living room AND in our bedroom. Sure it could use some upgrades, but to be honest I have looked at a lot of properties, not just in this area, and these are better quality than most. Our location isn't bad either. You're close to all kinds of shopping and restaurants. Schools, parks, and entertainment aren't far. We also have great neighbors, everyone has been quiet, courteous, and friendly. There has been a couple of barking dogs, but it's from the neighboring community. I did also have a couple things go missing from my patio because I'm on the first floor, but I should have known better. The staff have been wonderful. Anytime we put in a service request the maintenance team fixed it. Anytime we had a question the office staff would answer it. There was a time when there were some kids shooting air soft guns at the park area so my daughter and I left because I wasn't really comfortable with that, but I shouldn't have to be. I told the office as I left and I'm assuming they handled it because it hasn't been an issue since. I really never had an issue with parking, even during construction. I didn't pay the extra for a carport space either. I do have a couple of suggestions for the community. I think making the fitness center open 24 hours would be more convenient for residents and wouldn't disturb any other residents, plus would add value to the community. I also think putting a cover of some sort over the playground to provide shade would create a more enjoyable atmosphere for the parents as well as the children. I slid down the slide a couple times with my daughter and immediately regretted it because the slide was so hot it burned my legs and you don't want to wear pants in 80-90 degree weather. Plus bringing your kids to the park gives the parents a break and creates the opportunity to meet your neighbors and can provide a more "community" type feeling and atmosphere. Anyways we loved it so much we are transferring to a larger apartment that has a washer/dryer and central A/C and signing another year lease. read more

They don't return your security deposit, EVEN, if you're not moving in because you only have 24 hours to call and cancel the application process. $500 was the deposit that I will never get back. I wouldn't give this place one star if I could. Hidden Cove is the worst place I have ever lived. Garbage, dog waste everywhere. Disguarded furniture left on patios.Staff that doesn't care. Complained three times and finally the dog waste was picked up, once. Its is now all over again.Can't open windows because of the smell. Also, can't use the heat because of mildew problems in apt. Ductwork never cleaned even though I have asked mgmt to do so because of asthma. They have told me that apt was professionally cleaned before I moved in. This is BS as apt was no where near clean. I've also seen bags of dog waste thrown on top the trash receptacles. Parking is ridiculous as its impossible to find a parking spot in the evening even though your charged for same. Don't waste your time or money on this place. Its definitely not worth it. lag read more

Rent is high for the "luxury apartments" here. I would be curious of how many parking placards they charge for, compared to the number of spots. Dont come home after 730 PM. It's a waste picking up after your pet because nobody does it. Maintenance is good. No issues. Quick and efficient response. Have been a resident here for about 3 years. read more

We visited this complex on 05/09/2014. The leasing agent that helped us was Julie. She was very helpful, kind, and answered all the questions we had efficiently so I was very impressed. First impressions are really important for me. We toured a 1x1 Driftwood unit and instantly fell in love. I especially love the hardwood floors, the bathroom, and the spacious kitchen storage and how the overall layout of the apartment looks like. We basically loved it all. Right now, we're in a small 500 square feet apartment so you can only imagine our excited-ness seeing this unit. My boyfriend also loved the fact that there was an extra storage space out on the patio. Currently we're in the process of filling out our applications and moving out of our current complex come July/August, we're crossing our fingers and hoping that everything goes well when and if we decide to move to this community. read more

Great service truly. They are concerned with the tenants and the facilities of the complex. I enjoy the atmosphere and staff. The addition of the new pool furnitue to include the couch and chairs was thoughtful. Since several of us grill all year round, these additions made my guests feel at home and provided an extra comfort that is seldom seen in apartment living. Good job! read more

Hidden Cove - Apartments Near Me - Escondido, California

I am counting the days I move my family and I out of this apartment. Please heed the reviews and take your family else-where because you will deal with problems after problems. 1. Increasing utility bills - You pay your own water, sewer, trash and electricity. What makes this worst is that a portion of what they pay for to maintain the community (and whatever they use in the leasing office and pool) seem to be passed on to the residents based on their per square footage. It is odd at how much electricity we seem to be consuming when most of the times we are not home. 2. Parking is a disaster - you would think you would feel at home being in this community, especially being at work and at times working overtime. NOPPEEEEeee -- Think again! You have to battle it out with Lauren and her staff and the towing people trying to explain to them that there are people parked in the community who don't have paid parking. Two types: a.) unguaranteed parking or "only" $25 per month per each car b.) hooded parking for $35 per each car. Who pays for their own parking for the apartment they live at? All the residents want to do is have at least one parking FREE for how much they freaking charge for this place. I believe this apartment is brewing up a lawsuit. The last time I tried to complain about this I don't think they know how much stickers they have sold and are overselling. So basically they can sell thousands of these (cause literally no parking by 630PM) and not be liable for keeping their community happy by checking for paid parkers' cars. You are able to park outside, but be ready to walk 2 to 4 blocks with the scam 3. MOLDS - It has made my family sick which ultimately became the last straw and our deciding factor to not re-new and move on. I moved into Hidden Cove 2 in July of 12 and moved out the beginning of this month. I have to say after reading all these reviews I was terrified of moving out thinking I was going to be charged outrageous amounts. Well I am happy to say that not only were they fair but I also got a refund on my deposit, that I received 10 days after moving out. While living there we never encountered a problem that was not quickly resolved by maintenance or by Jennifer in the office. Parking is definitely a pain but if you have a pass there should be no problems. I would recommend Hidden Cove 2 over one however, just due to the atmosphere and amenities. read more

I moved here beginning of April. And I must say that my move in wasn't a smooth one. I was a transfer from another state and selected Hidden Cove by emails and what was online. Much to my surprise it was at all how I expected. I have to say that the Office staff, cleaning crew and so many others went to great lengths to make me happy and provide my with an apartment that I could call home. I have been very happy here. The maintenance man (Miguel) I believe has been here for four years and he is so nice and goes above and beyond. I would recommend Hidden Cove to others. Thank you Hidden Cove! read more

First and the worst is that the buildings are infested with cockroaches. Trash dumpsters are constantly over flowing with trash spilling into the parking lots. They over charge for everything! I've seen some responses from management saying "it's all itemized and available in the leasing contract," but regardless, they are ridiculous. The management company does not care about providing a safe, comfortable place for people to live, they just want your money. Parking is WAY overpriced, especially if you want a covered spot. You have to pay $50 per person to have your packages delivered to the Luxor boxes with additional charges if you are not able to pick-up the package the same day. Water is shut off without notice for hours a day, or they send you an email after it's already been shut off. This would be inconvenient as it is, but working from home during COVID made this a nightmare. Laundry facilities are disgusting, the card machines will duplicate charges, and there were constant maintenance issues with the laundry room. Their solution was to put locks on the door. Guess that's easier than cleaning the facilities. There is no central AC, and outdated heaters in the bedrooms. The appliances are old and don't work very well. This is a gated community and the gates regularly malfunction and are left open for days. Maintenance is allowed to enter your apartment without knocking, but they don't send out notices that someone will be coming by, which is terrifying if you're home alone. The leasing office NEVER picks up the phone. This place sucked, it was gross, overpriced and management just wants to scam you out of money. read more
