I'm reading these reviews, and although I agree that the complex is extremely noisy and sometimes the office staff can be unhelpful, I really do like living here. I just renewed my lease and I worked with Jennifer with concerns I had. She was amazing. She makes up for any negative experience I may have had. The noisiness is not their fault. We are located directly next to the Lexus dealership, and the restaurant on top can be extremely noisy on the weekend nights. The apartments are close to each other, so if your neighbors are loud then you will hear them. Again, not the apartments fault. I just turn on the AC or the TV and problem solved. I think my apartment is awesome. I love having people over because they all comment on how nice it is. I live in the newer buildings, without washer/dryer, so I can't speak for the ones across the street. I love the wood flooring, although it does creak (!), and I love my white cabinets. So much more updated than most I looked at during my search. The price seems high, but it's pretty close to what you'll get elsewhere for worse quality. I do wish I could afford the washer/dryer, but the facilities are always clean when I use them. Overall, I very much enjoy living here. I'd recommend to anyone. read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE DO NOT RENT HERE THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER OPTIONS, AND THIS SHOULDN'T BE ONE OF THEM. Had to ask 5 different times to get the AC fixed because they didn't want to replace it. maintenance had the audacity to tell me that the heater was working just fine when it was blowing out cool air... Fast forward a few weeks to when we had heavy rains going on and we wind up getting tons of water stuck inside of the dry wall next to the AC. So only after I had a massive blob of water stuck in my wall which caused the dry wall itself to stick out to the point where it could have burst open did we get the AC replaced. For rent being what it is at this apartment, that's ridiculous. In order to get the dry wall fixed we had to live with a torn up apartment that had flex piping running from our kitchen sink to the drenched portion of the wall. This took over 2 weeks to fix and we still had to pay full rent? of course we did, it's hidden coves!! when I called to complain about the situation I was basically told that the place was habitable and that full rent would be required without recourse for me as a renter in any way shape or form. Save for this Yelp review but come on! it gets better. The gate is CONSISTENTLY BROKEN so please don't think for a second that you are really living in a gated community. You are not. The gardening staff here takes just about all day to complete their work, not sure what to say about that except that it really adds to the feeling that we are being over charged for what adds up to be a trash heap of an experience. Inspect your wooden floors carefully if you decide to move forward (please don't move forward...) as our ended up being wavy and warped. In fact the first week we moved in we had to have the repair guy come in to fix a lifted board in our kitchen. He put some wood glue underneath it and SMASHED IT WITH HIS FOOT A FEW TIMES before he told me "eh okay it's all done." What a hack job of a repair. We also had to have our cast iron sink replaced, but only AFTER they insisted on scrubbing the rust away TWO DIFFERENT TIMES BEFORE ACCEPTING A REQUEST FOR A NEW SINK, HOW DISGUSTING AND CHEAP OF THEM. Oh and most recently our keys stopped working in the lock for the front door. we had to have the whole lock replaced and the keys still didn't work. IT TOOK 3 TRIPS FOR THEM TO GET US WORKING KEYS TO OUR UNIT IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR LEASE!! Was never told that there would be no security actually on site, which really stinks when the neighbor's are partying past mid-night and there's no recourse but to call a hotline number and wait for an hour or more for them to show up and look around. If that. Our gate clickers needed to be replaced 3 different times before they would operate the gate without getting out of the car and walking up to it and even then, the gate is broken most of the time anyway. If you get lucky, it breaks in an open position - allowing you and ANYONE else to come and go freely. If you are unlucky it breaks when it's in the closed position and you have to drive all the way around to the other side of the complex to get back onto the road. Really a nice touch to starting the work day. This place will charge you for ALL the "extras" like carport parking for $30 a month on top of your insanely high rent pricing. It's a ghetto complex with a pretty paint job and a bunch of staff members that don't really give a hoot if you need anything. They must think that there's always someone willing to move in but I'd bet a dollar that says this place goes under or is sold to new management the way things are going. DO NOT MOVE HERE. HiddenCOST Please save yourself some trouble and do not move here. The negative reviews are accurate about this place. Save yourself some time and money and do not move here. The staff is friendly when you first visit and is also very accommodating until you move in. However, this place is just a polished turd. We signed a 2yr lease, and upon move in, everything looked great at first. However, upon closer inspection, the air conditioning unit did not cool properly, and the complex has massive ant and roach problems. The walls and floors are so thin that you can hear your neighbors conversations, footsteps, televisions, radios, toilets flushing, and sexual activities. The gym equipment is a sweaty bacteria buffet, the hot tub is a condom recycling center, and the common areas are manure factories. As soon as you move in you will also get a notice that after your initial lease has expired, they will increase the costs for your parking, pets, and rent just to renew another lease. The water, trash, and sewage bill will also increase every couple of months as well. After 7pm, it is impossible to find guest parking, the grounds have dog turds everywhere, and your car will get broken into. The security gate is always broke, so it allows thieves to roam in and out of the complex with ease. The maintenance personnel will also bang on the roof with hammers or work outside your window with power tools unexpectedly throughout the day. When you do decide to move out, you will not get your deposit back no matter how clean your apartment is. They will find some minuscule defect to overcharge you on to ensure they do not have to give you back your deposit. If you do decide to move into Hidden COST Apartments, make sure you check the bathroom walls for pubic hairs that have been painted into the walls (attached photos in my profile). Their idea of cleaning for new renters is to clean the bathroom floors with a rag, then use the same rag on the walls, and then to paint the walls, thus sealing in the previous renters pubic hairs into your bathroom walls. Finally, they really do not care about me or you, they are a publicly traded company called AIMCO (AIV on the NYSE) that runs Hidden COST Apartments and they only care about maximizing shareholder profits. read more

Even though I had lived a short amount of time of living here at hidden cove apartments, the experience was VERY satisfying. The professional and kind leasing staff were amazing! The maintenance crew were always fast and prompt! Very quiet gate community with friendly neighbors, and I also felt very safe:) I especially wanted to thank Karla my leasing agent for always being there when I needed her, her communication is impeccable! I have now lived in Hidden cove for just over a year. As a single military guy it is hard to find a place where they truly help you, but so far I have had no problems with any staff at hidden cove. The renewal process for my second year was literally the easiest I have ever done. I have had a total of 3 maintenance service request put in and every single one was handled in a timely manner. The day input in the service request was the same day that the maintenance personnel fixed the problem I had. The laundry facilities are decent but not fantastic. I do wish for the amount I pay for rent and laundry they could find a way to refresh the systems. My work gets me pretty dirty and it is hard to wash my clothes properly in these outdated washers and dryers. This is the only reason I would not give this place 5 stars! read more

Worst apartments I have ever stepped foot in. If you are looking for a community this is not it. Not even close to it. I have had problems with this place since day 1. I've had a rental towed in my parking spot that I paid 55$ a month Because I did not inform the leasing office (that is never in office) that I was in a car accident and my parking pass was on my previous car. My brother had his car broken into 3x and stolen once in broad day light. These apartments are nothing but money hungry thieves. You have to pay for all utilities and nothing is included. I was paying 2200 to 2300 for an 1800$ a month 1 bed room place. Laundry was always closed. Leasing office was always closed every time I went to get a laundry key so I never got one. I was double charged on rent once because of their broken system. I was charged 4000$! I warned the leasing office plenty of times that I was seeing my account balance with this number and told me that it would be adjusted only to find out that it was not. I got refunded my 4k in about 20 days but lucky for me I can afford it. Imagine it was a family that could not afford it. Someone that was living in hard times and was living pay check to paycheck? That would devastate someone! These are only a portion of the problems I have had here at Hidden Cove. Please if you are looking for apartments these are not it unless you like getting sucked every penny out of you. read more

When I first started looking at apartments in Escondido my fiancé saw lots of negative posts on Yelp. I checked out Hidden Cove anyway and loved it!!!! Now I have been there almost a year and it's the best apartment I've rent in SD and I've lived in Rancho Bernardo, PB, Poway, and North Park! The staff are always quick to help and fix anything needed. The apartment is clean and just the right amount of renovations. The gym is just perfect. And most of all it is quite! I've never heard a noisy neighbor nor felt unsafe. Give this place a try, you'll love it!! I've never had a problem with bugs but Escondido is warm. My friend who owns a house in the area has them and they love to show up where it is hot and humid. But HC is always willing to help. So if you see people complaining about bugs I have to think it's more an issue with their own cleanliness. I had a neighbor who had an issue with spiders....but the inside of her apartment isn't clean and very crowded. Keep your place clean and you'll be fine! read more

Absolutely terrible customer service and do not recommend to anyone at all. When questions about added fees arise the management is always too busy and have no one available to speak with. The message is always the same. In fact when speaking with billing specialist, Joe Beacom on 7/10, 2017 he actually mentions there is no one he will connect me with to talk to when I asked for a manager. I have lived in this apartment complex for 2 years now. The first year was not too bad. We had issues with the drainage on our balcony, since we live on the 2nd floor. Our balcony constantly got flooded when it rained due to the leaves and branches falling from the roof overhead and clogging the spout every time it rains overnight. Our bathroom is constantly needing some kind of maintenance. This past year has been rough. We've had our cars or visitor's cars (with parking passes) towed multiple times. Both of our cars are registered with the management office. When I brought it up to management and asked why, they said that the people that go around checking for passes don't have a list of what license plates or cars are on the property list and they couldn't refund us the $400 we had to pay to get our car from the towing company. Also, I always pay my rent before or on the first of the month. I always pay the amount in full that is listed online. Suddenly I get an email saying I'm late on a payment, mind you my account has already been charger the $1850 for rent, and they're asking me for another $130 dollars. Why???? read more

My experience with Hidden Cove was not the best. To start off, the leasing office almost never answer the phones, and you're lucky if you ever get a call back from them. The "security" is some guy that drives by at around midnight ONCE. It's supposed to be a gated community although the gates were always broken, leaving them either closed (causing us to have to drive all the way around to the other side of the apartments to get through the other gate) or wide open for several days at a time. Our neighbors had their car broken into and had $7,000 worth of military issued gear stolen. The office ended up telling them that it wasn't their problem because renters insurance didn't cover the parking lot because it was owned by a different company and that company was letting them borrow that extra space around the apartments for parking. Therefore leaving them to pay out of pocket. They also don't have cameras anywhere. We eventually decided to move to Hidden Cove 2 or premium as they call it. The deposit is about $200 more than Hidden Cove 1. They told us that they would transfer our original deposit and only charge us the remaining balance to upgrade. Come the day the money was due, when we get to the leasing office they tell us we have to pay the full deposit for the new apartment PLUS a $400 transfer fee. When we spoke to the manager we let him know that the other office employee told us something different, he basically washed his hands of fault and said that's now how it works, leaving us to come up with the rest of the money before they rented it out to someone else. Eventually we moved in anyway to Hidden Cove 2 and we thought the problems would end there. Hidden cove uses an online portal to pay rent and during the pandemic the manager had deactivated the ability to pay with card through the portal. Resulting in me having to call (over and over since they never answer) and wait for them to get back to me just to pay my rent over the phone, it was this way for the last three months we lived there. Finally our lease ends, we move out and we get our statement a few days later with a bunch of fees that we have no idea what they are and now we end up owing them $120. Out of $700 that we put down as a deposit. Keep in mind during our pre move out inspection, maintenance said all the apartment needed was paint and a basic clean, which showed it would be around $200. I still haven't gotten a call back from them, I even sent an email asking them to call me. We've rented with Hidden Cove from December 2017 - August 2020. Hidden Cove is a nice place to live but it is not worth dealing with a leasing office that doesn't care. read more

If I could give a lower star I would! These apartments are soooo over priced for the crap we have to deal with it's not even funny! Maintenance is a joke! I can't count how many time I have to submit the same work order.. still things aren't fixed. They provide the apartment with the cheapest STACKABLE washer and dryer.. which is constantly breaking.. The management team is never available or in the office. Which I'm not sure what he does all day since he's not fixing the sprinkler systems that flood the bottom of the stairs or soak you walking to your car in the middle of the day. Not monitoring the horrible work the maintenance team does on the work orders, or clearly the tenants complaints and horrible stars on all these reviews! We have been here nearly a year, and have had a good experience! The staff is available and friendly, the office hours are extended, and they are there on weekends, unlike some other spots I shall not mention. Any issues I have had have been addressed promptly, and with courtesy, and the gym and pools are well maintained. I would advise getting a parking spot, since the lot fills fast, and if you have an overnight guest, it's easy to get a pass at the office. Do it or risk being towed for $235.00. Lesson learned. If I could give this place negative stars I would!! Don't let the nice office and waiting area fool you!! My MIL lived here for OVER 19 years and all they did was screw her over. They charge for EVERYTHING!!!! Want a covered parking?? Oh that's an extra $10 a month. Want to pay for water, sewer and trash?? Oh you get a bill for that also. And they REQUIRE you to have renters insurance. My MIL lived in a unit that wasn't upgraded because they lived in it before upgrading all of them but she STILL paid the rent of a upgraded one. And if she wanted to get her's upgraded they were going to charge her MORE for it. This place is a joke And the laundry mat is GHETTO!! . And I always wondered why people were always moving in and out. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. MILITARY BEWARE. 1. Rent is extremely high + random fees like maintenance charges. I have never lived anywhere that charged for bug spraying around the entire property. 2.The smoke free policy was barely put into place, where all residents were forced to stop smoking inside, outside, on their patio, or anywhere. If you do, its a hefty fine, and they left nice little notes on all of our doors. 3. MILITARY PERSONNEL: DO NOT MOVE HERE. THEY DO NOT RESPECT OR ABIDE BY POLICY. We receive orders 28 days before our move across the country. I have a 30 day notice on Feb 8th, our move out was March 1st. Thinking we would be prorated for the extra 8 days of the 30 day notice like normal property managers would, we were surprised to find out that we were responsible for an extra month.... UUMMMM, NO. We contacted a lawyer who instructed us not to pay that because we did give prior notice. They then proceeded to CHARGE US FOR THE REMAINDER OF OUR LEASE because they said we abandoned our apartment?? EXCUSE ME???? KEEP IN MIND: The members of the leasing office are all linked together, including the property managers. They will all feed you a line of bs. ALSO, they live in hidden coves, AND DO NOT ABIDE BY THE SMOKING RULES. Apparently if you live there and work there you get special treatment. MILITARY DO NOT MOVE HERE. Living at hidden cove overall was okay. There were good and bad things. Pros: For example, maintenance was GREAT! They always came extremely quickly whenever we had an issue and resolved it fast. Overall, the complex is nice, many pools and a gym which is sort of a walk to get there. Can't say I used the facilities much because of distance. The apartment itself was nice and I enjoyed it lots of storage space. Cons: PARKING! To park in the general area it is $15/month. To have your own spot it's an additional $30, so $45 a month. And it's the way to go sadly. But ive has multiple issues of people parking in my spot. Parking outside of your own spot is very difficult, if it's a weekend or a weeknight after around 7. Another disappointing factor was the move out process. They give you the option of paying $125 for a professional cleaner or to clean it yourself, we chose to clean it ourselves and worked very hard on it and was told in the inspection that it wasn't clean enough even though it looked exactly how it did when we moved in. (So don't waste your time cleaning yourself because they want to charge you the $125) we also had a few small marks on one wall in the bedroom from the bed being there and they told us they'd have to repaint the whole apartment because of it and told us it was around $300 for that, but they were being nice and gave us a discount for $137 (yeah right) NOT TO MENTION THE MOVEOUT INSPECTION WAS SCHEDULED FOR 10 AM AND THEY CAME AT 1045 WITH BARELY AN APOLOGY. AND ALSO NEVER SHOWED FOR THE PREMOVEOUT INSPECTION EITHER!!!! Wouldn't want to deal with that again. Also the bedrooms only have heat and No AC, only small AC in the living room, so the bedroom are very hot in the summer! I've lived at hidden cove 2 for over 3 years.For the most part it was a nice area.The staff at hidden cove is friendly and matenaince crew is very good.But the management company that runs hidden cove.. Aimco is the worse.You will never see your deposit..No matter what condition you left it in.You have to give 2 months notice to move out.I asked if I possibly could move out sooner if a tenant was found.Luckily one was found .So I was asked if it was ok to if I leave earlier than 2 months..sure that works..But they try to make you pay for the days you are not living there while they get it ready for next tenant .I never paid late ever and paid throughout the pandemic..Your water bill will be 140$-260$ parking is 45$ for own spot plus they will nickel and dime you to death with small charges..pest, sewer ,trash..ect...and when you move out..they will continue to try to screw you over..Aimco is the worse ever. read more

Been living here for about 4 months now, and I can honestly say so far so good! It's in a nice & quiet location with plenty of shops, restaurants, etc in a close proximity. The staff members are awesome. Maintenance responds in a timely fashion and does a great job actually fixing the issue. The office staff communicates well and seems very organized. In regards to the units, they're very spacious compared to some other places I've lived. The complex is dog friendly and the landscapers keep the grass, trees, and bushes looking great. The fitness center and pool area is like a mini 24 hour fitness, minus the 24 hours of operation. I have no complaints about this place, and plan to stay here for awhile. read more

I got keys to my apartment on 9/1/15. While moving in I noticed some roaches. I brought it up to Ricardo the next day which happened to be a Wednesday. He did a great job in assisting me and trying to do what he could. They have pest control Wednesdays so this was convenient. They treated the apartment but it hasn't helped in the slightest. After reading these reviews, I am extremely upset and frustrated that I chose to call this place my home. Before I unpack my boxes, I can see that this is going to be an on going issue. My son has been targeted by the office staff. I have facts and proof of them bullying my son and my family. We have given a 60 day move out notice. We can no longer renew our lease due to bullying from Hidden Cove management. Instead of investigating first, the leasing staff falsely accused my son of doing damage to light fixtures. Later they found out it was someone else and they never apologized. Another time, the office staff called the police and ruined our family time. My husband and son were playing xbox, when we got a call from the leasing office. They told us to go to the office because the police was there. We go and the police told us they needed to interrogate our son about an incident that happened 15-20 minutes ago. We said our son was in the house with us the whole time. The police said that tenants reported some kids spray painting some cars in the parking lot. Police said they wanted to ask our son about it because the office staff said it was our son that did it. After the investigation, they said we can all go home. That my son cleared, he didn't do it. We said that our son was with us in the first place, so of course he had nothing to do with it. The Escondido police said that the other 2 boys in the office had done it and even their hands had spray paint on them. So, the office staff had falsely accused my son again and never apologized. NOW...the Manager, Lauren called me on Thursday May 5, 2016 to tell me that she has video of my son breaking the gym door handle. I told her I would like to see the video. I also told her that my son wouldn't break or destroy the community. She said, " I know. I don't believe he did it intentionally, but it happen to be that it broke when he was trying to open it, so you're going to have to pay $200 for the damages." Why do I have to pay, if he didn't break it intentionally? So my husband went tosee the video..I was at work. He recorded the video with his phone and sent it to me. The video shows my son opening the gym door like anyone else would. But like the manager said" because it happen to be that he was opening the door when the screw fell off and the door handle fell, we have to pay. We asked Lauren(the Manager) to give us a written reason to why she was charging us the $200. She said that she wasn't going to do that and that Regional Manager told her not to. I asked Lauren if she'd shown the Regional Manager the video. She said, "No." We lived here almost 8 years. This past year they have been horrible to us. They even bumped up our rent at the end of our lease $200 more than what we already pay. We gave our notice to move out this hell hole! Please don't make the mistake in moving in to this poor quality management. You've been warned! It's up to you now. UPDATE!!!: I filed a complaint about Hidden Cove Apartments of Escondido, California to the Better Business Bureau. Don't be reeled in by their fancy pictures and fake interest in your well being. This management does not care one about you at all. You are nothing but a $ to them. Lived there for 4 years each new lease rent was increased by $100+. When I asked them to reconsider since we had been long time loyal residents they did not care one bit. While living there I quickly noticed how high the turn around is. People just do not want to stay. Hidden Cove has been great for us! There will always be issues anywhere you live, especially in an apartment complex but the Hidden Cove management team has always been responsive to any issues we've had (noisy, smoking neighbors but haven't smelled it since complaining!) and maintenance is quick and efficient the few times we've had to request their services. This complex has great amenities: pools, hot tubs, fitness center, doggy waste stations. It's also very open and green and we have a great view from our balcony. The apartment itself is great! Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, spacious with central air and in unit washer/dryer, which are hard to find in an apartment. I feel like we're paying a fair price for everything we get. We're definitely happier here than we were at our last place! read more

Save yourself the trouble and stay far away from this place. The apartments are pretty nice inside and the leasing staff are all super accommodating at first and they reel you in with all sorts of promises. Rent for a one bedroom is 1475 which is already expensive but hey it's California. After all their bullshit extra stuff it ends up being 1700. They told me my rent was 1643 on the 1st, then pulled 1707 from my account on the 3rd (my scheduled day). Last month they pulled 1714 on the 1st and charged a fee because my account didn't have that much, when it wasn't supposed to pull until the 3rd anyways. $45 for a parking spot, dog poop and badly behaved/barking dogs in the complex, maintenance is a joke, they came to fix the closet door and then a different guy came and said it wasn't even the right door for the one we have. Laundry room is constantly leaking and nasty, pool is filthy, and leaf blowers at 8am on a Sunday. So many other things the list could go on forever. I'm looking to move out ASAP, this place is ridiculous Update: Yes my boyfriend went in to speak with the leasing staff about our issues and one of your employees slammed his hands on his desk and was arguing with him for a solid 30 minutes before the actual manager came in and fixed the issue within 2 minutes. Great job. The website says rent is $1643 but you have to check a separate email to see what it is after utilities. Why can't you just put the correct total on the website? UPDATE: So we finally cut our lease short back in December and man, was that worth it. They gave us the option of paying the rest of the rent we owe until our lease was over (which was about 5 months worth of rent) OR pay rent until someone else rents out the unit. Obviously we went for the best option, which was pay rent until someone else moves in. Not much has changed since we first moved here. Dog poop everywhere, little to no parking and loud/inconsiderate neighbors throughout the complex. Hate that our car got towed three times here though. And even when our car was in our own car port that we pay for! And good luck if you're new and order things online. It's more than likely that your package will be sent to the Luxor lockers and that's an extra $50 you'd have to pay to make an account in order to get your package out. Whether you want it or not, if it gets sent to the lockers, the staff will pretty much say "tough luck" and tell you to call Luxor's customer service line. Only thing I'll miss from these apartments is the maintenance crew! Now, they're the ones who deserve the 5 stars! Super nice and get the job done fast! I have moved in with my son a few weeks ago. Everyone has been very nice and helpful. I have made three different service requests and all have been taken care of within 24 hours. I will say that living on the bottom floor that the noise from the apartment above can be distracting at times and could see how that could be a big problem. I just received an email notifying everyone that the laundry facilities are going to be updated with all new card reading machines instead of coins ones....that you can set up to notify you on your phone when you laundry is ready. I have not seen any bugs or pests in the apartment and the vinyl flooring, no carpet is so much easier. read more

It's too late for us, save yourself! Hidden Cove has been, by far, the worst apartment experience my wife and I have ever had. Loud, obnoxious neighbors, a worthless management team that does nothing at best, and lies at worst. My wife and I have been counting the days until our lease expires with Hidden Cove because our experience here has been one nightmare after another. From the horrible parking, the laundry list of additional fees, the unreliable and expensive parcel lockers, the flooding when it rains... The list is long. Brothers in Arms, the "courtesy patrol" contracted by Hidden Cove is also a joke. Rude and useless as the Hidden Cove management team itself. Keep looking. This place makes you pay 30 bucks a month for parking. 10 for a parking pass which allows you to park inside the unsecured gates but there are only a certain number of those spots, the rest are 20.00. So it becomes a race to see who can get a spot. Also loaded with spiders inside and out. Noisy children, high traffic area. Laminate wood flooring. Horrible glazing on the tubs. Truly not worth what they're charging. I can't wait to move. Don't be fooled by your walkthrough. This place is totally not worth it. Keep searching, I wish I had. Update: right now the only thing these people can do for me is allow me to break the lease. do not move here, security gate has been broken since before halloween just had a package stolen. As much as I would love to say our initial review was spot on it was not. They are super amazing when moving in, but once you're a resident it went out the window. Parking was atrocious to say the least. You pay either for a normal non guaranteed spot (why am I paying to begin with if I'm not guaranteed to be able to park in my own complex) or for a covered space. If you come home like most people do later in the afternoon don't bother trying to find a space. They are all taken up by non residents or their visitors who haven't paid to park or live there. Dog poop was literally EVERYWHERE. Walk down my stairs dog poop smell inhibits every open pore in my nostrils. Forget about letting my then 1 year old play in the grass, cigarette butts and dog poop all over the lawns. It's supposed to be a non smoking community (they can step outside the gates to smoke if they chose). The gates were always either unlocked or broken because people tried propping it open for guests. You're paying for shared water in your "unit building" but it's not fairly calculated when you have 10 people living in one apartment while I only have three in mine. Why am I paying for others water when the limit of occupants in a home is 4 unless they have under aged children. Since we have moved, our water bill is less then $50 a month (this is for a whole house with sprinkler system going off twice a day). Living at their complex we paid over $100 a month, if that doesn't seem off to you I don't know what does. To say the least our time there went from amazing to why did we move here. Plus the rental for our super outdated apartment was ridiculous. Over priced. The one and only positive thing we took away from living at hidden cove was their AMAZING maintenance. Been here for over a year now and still consider this a really good place to live. When we had our option to renew, ideally we wanted to be closer to our work, but everything was so expensive and when even thinking we could possibly move, the thought of leaving here was bittersweet. Shittiest place to live in escondido. They're management sucks. Their maintenance team is even worse. One couldn't fix our dish washer and we requested twice for them to change a light bulb but no one ever did. Worst part is there is no sense of security. We have been living here for a year and most of the time the security gates are not functioning. Why pay for parking stickers then?! The grounds are terribly maintained. The sprinklers are broken and water is always being wasted outside. What's stupid is that all that wasted water has to be paid by the tenants. I have now moved out of HIdden Cove and even getting out was a nightmare. The staff in the office was awful. I didnt receive my deposit back ( even though the man with the bun in the office said i would prior to us leaving ) and when i asked them why, they came up with all sorts of bs and fees. The said they had to clean the apartment for fleas and that it costs hundreds of dollars. Thats funny cause my dog didnt have fleas? Oh and do you think they contacted us to let us know that they would be performing this service and charging us hundreds? OF COURSE NOT!!!! They couldnt even give e receipts or proof that this was legit and that this service was truly needed or performed. When i talked to the manager cassandra and the man in office they refused to give me any of my information and documents in my file.They said it was a " privacy policy" ... umm... its my information, why cant i have my information?? Its ridiculous. Im pretty sure that they didnt want me to have copies of all of my complaints and documentation of the mold issues and many other problems from our stay. We ended up paying over 2k to leave this place. But let me tell you it was worth it. The office staff is so rude and this place is a nightmare. They will not address any of your issues, and trust me there will be many. read more

Good storage space is one of the only pros about this place. Floors were filthy upon move in, it was obvious they had never been cleaned only swept. Old nasty ac system is in the living room is not efficient and is not able to cool the apartment, which made for a horrible summer and a $300 monthly electric bill. I heard the complex next door has central heat and Ac had we known this before we would have definitely chosen them over hidden cove or should I say hidden fee. Tell me why I get charged for gas and electric from the complex when that's what I'm paying SDG&E for. This company seems to be only about the $. Parking is a joke. Instead of saying we have this many parking spots we will only sell parking passes to x number of people, they are more than happy to collect $15 from everyone and let it just be a free for all. They also have sketchy security who does not where a uniform and roams the property to have your cars towed. They towed my car our first week here claiming they did not see my parking pass because of tinted windows BS. Hot tub near us is broken. Laundry machines only take cards which I though would be convenient but often times you have to swipe twice to get it to work and it charges you twice. We had issues with our fridge breaking our food spoiled and the company took zero ownership. I can't blame the dog poop everywhere on the company since that is just irresponsible dog owners but for all the landscaping ppl they have walking around they should really just pay some of them to help clean it up. Overall we're disappointed, this place seemed great from the tour and receptive staff, but after you write a check they really don't seem to care. All in all I pay about $200 more in hidden fees than was expected when I signed the lease. This place is definitely not worth $1900 read more
