Finally made my way to Hideaway Coffeeshop just in the beginning of Wahiawa, located on the SIDE of EZ skate shop (although it almost feels as if the coffeeshop is "hidden" INSIDE of the skate shop). But I must say.. I was deeply disappointed with this coffeeshop. From the moment walking in, it is a VERY tiny coffeeshop almost claustrophobic feeling. Granted when I first entered, there was a group of 5 women getting their order taken, but just know.. 6 people max is all this coffee shop can fit and that's already uncomfortable. Secondly, after waiting for the group of 5 girls to be served their drinks, it finally was my time to order and I did not receive the friendly service that I normally get going practically... anywhere else, the cashier told me "I'll be right with you" and I had to wait an extra 5 minutes, directly in front of the cashier, after already waiting 10-15 minutes for the group of 5 women to be served! There was little to NO consideration for my business. (I went with my other half & son, but had them wait outside due to the place being so tiny, you would think they could get to just one more order/person without making them wait again). Thirdly, what places the cherry right on top of the cake... as I finished ordering my 2 drinks; they quickly took a ladies order behind me (she ordered 3- 16oz matcha's). I am not sure how, or why, but this lady who was BEHIND me got served her order BEFORE I did? I'm not sure if this place has a mobile ordering service maybe I have no idea about... but if they don't, that 110% confirmed their workers having no consideration over their customers and the way an ORDERLY line works. After watching this lady walk out within 10 minutes with her 3 matcha's, the worker goes "I am starting on your drinks right now" ...... and I am truly not one for confrontation, I rather be professional and save it for the YELP, can I get an amen? But I was baffled. After a total of being in this claustrophobic, teeny tiny space for more than 20 minutes for JUST TWO COFFEES, I finally hear the girl yell, "BaNaNa FOSTER" -- myself, my otherhalf & my 4 year old were playing the tic-tac-toe game left right outside the door, for the community, and they still couldn't have walked the drink over to us in a professional manner? No. Mind you, 3 women inside of this coffeeshop and not one of them has the decency or professionalism to CATER to their customers like this... I walk in to receive my coffee and the girl making the drinks tells me "it's here on this side". I swear my arms could fall off and these workers would STILL REFUSE to just HAND me my drink I ALREADY PAID FOR (with tip, I know I feel so stupid). She then tells me, "I'm starting on your blueberry latte now". When I tell you I almost dropped to the floor and was about to tell ALL 3 OF THEM never-dang-mind, keep my money, keep my coffee, keep it ALL. Because why after 20 minutes, you folks serving someone 3 drinks prior to me (who was in LINE BEHIND ME) are you ladies STILL NOT DONE with my coffee? I mean the frustration was getting so SERIOUS at this point. But who wants to ruin a whole Saturday morning? After an ADDITIONAL 10 minutes (that accumulated to about 30 minutes for 2 drinks) I finally get another yell "BLueBerRy LATTE!" and atp, my otherhalf decides to grab the coffee because he can see the look on my face of frustration. He walks out with the coffee and says, "oh my gosh the girl was so rude, she literally told me, 'it's right there'". AND HE IS A GUY.... But he felt this places sass just as much as I did. Finally after receiving the coffees I am so excited to try and was IMMEDIATELY LET DOWN BY MY FIRST SIP. When I tell you I rather order Starbucks every day of my life instead of ever coming back here.... I mean it. Both drinks tasted so off and so wrong, none of the flavors (banana & blueberry) were complimenting each other with whatever espresso beans they're using here.. it truly tasted awful, that after 2 sips we had decided to leave our drinks on the side in hopes for homeless to come and enjoy something that we could not. I have never been so let down by a "coffee shop" before. My other half, son and I walked down the street to SURFERS coffee and got treated with the best customer service (true, genuine, friendly WOMEN) and our drinks tasted soooooo much better. AND we were actually able to have a table, sit down inside and enjoy eachothers company. It was a refreshing REDEMPTION, to say the least.. and after that experience, I really needed a coffee redemption this morning. Not entirely sure what is going on with this business, or what their MORALS/beliefs are when it comes to running a business, but I truly believe they need lots of work. Their coffee is delicious! I ordered the salted honey shaken espresso and asked them to make it as a latte, and it was perfect--sweet, creamy, with just the right hint of salt. Their vanilla cold foam is perfect. We've tried a few other drinks too, and everything has been consistently good. You can customize your drink in so many ways, which I love. I haven't tried the matcha yet, but it's definitely next on my list! They now have a 24oz cup available, my only recommendation is a little more ice for the large. They can get pretty busy, so the line sometimes takes a little while, but it's a small shop and absolutely worth the wait. There's also some outdoor seating, which is a nice bonus. Overall, really great quality coffee and easily a spot I'd come back to again and again. read more

I was very excited to visit this new speakeasy style coffeeshop in Wahiawa, but I left extremely disappointed. At the time we visited, there was only one employee, so it took us 1 hour to place our orders. We did not mind the wait since it gave us time to chat with each other, but the hallway the line runs through has no fans or AC and gets quite hot. I ordered a matcha latte with matcha cold foam, and my friend ordered a latte (coffee, not matcha) with blueberry syrup. Both drinks were incredibly disappointing. The matcha was clearly a lower quality powder that left a very bitter aftertaste. The problem was definitely the matcha powder used - I regularly drink matcha lattes, americanos, and usucha/koicha with no sweetener added, so I am used to the flavor of unsweetened matcha powder. My friend's latte clearly had blueberry syrup added (we could see it in the bottom of the cup when we received it), but after mixing it in, there was no sweetness or blueberry flavor. The syrup either needed to be stronger or more should have been added. As a speakeasy style shop, there are only a handful of bar stool seats and one or two small tables for customers outside. This would not be a good place to study nor to sit and chat with a friend due to lack of seats. Finally, shortly after walking outside, I noticed a hair in my drink. What an appropriate name the Hideaway. Tucked behind a tattoo shop follow the little stickers on the floor down a narrow walk way and voila you've come across Wahiawa's best kept secret. There is limited street parking in front and I saw a parking lot in the back but not sure if it's for this place. I end up finding street parking. Just be sure to read the signs carefully as this area is known for towing. The people are super nice and they have many regulars as they were greeted by name and ordering their usual. S'mores latte is pretty and many ordered. I went for their house made banana latter since they were out of their house made blueberry syrup. The banana bread with macadamia nuts hits the spot. Many also ordered the brisket burnt ends breakfast burrito. I'll be back to try the blueberry latte and burrito Great coffee, friendly people, and a hidden gem that's worth seeking out. Finally got to try Hideaway Shop in Wahiawa and it was such a cute spot. Parking was a little tricky since there's no more parking in the front, so we ended up parking behind Chicken in a Barrel (not totally sure if that's allowed though) We met Steph and she was seriously the sweetest. We ended up just talking stories with her for a while. She told us they actually opened on the day of the Pineapple Run on May 2! She was super knowledgeable about all the drinks, and she even makes the pastries in house. They also have some cute merch like earrings and cards. The drink menu looked SO good that I kept changing my mind!!! but I finally went with the strawberry matcha with banana cold foam and omg... SO delicious!!! So I'm here on vacation from the LA area and my sister randomly found this place while on yelp. My standard order is a London Fog so I ordered one. They said it's not a traditional London Fog, but their take on it (which they call the Wahiawa Fog). I said, "sure!" What came out was the best London Fog I've had in my life! They use an earl grey powder (similar to matcha powder) and prepare it the same way. Game changer. I do NOT like matcha, but love earl grey! Throughout my vacation I had to take my husband and my parents to this tiny little hidden gem. I'm leaving the island tomorrow and had to stop by yesterday to get my last hit. Parking is a little difficult and this place is a little hard to find, which honestly fits the name "Hideaway" perfectly It's tucked behind the tattoo shop, so parking is either street parking or near the Napa Auto Parts area. There's a small pathway on the side of the tattoo shop that leads you into this cute little compound with a barber shop, skate shop, tattoo shop in the front, and then her cozy coffee shop tucked inside. But honestly, once you find it, it's such a gem The shop itself is super cute and cozy, and I love that she supports other local artists and businesses by selling their products there too. She has things like bags, special occasion cards, and other handmade items throughout the shop. She also uses coffee imported from Puerto Rico that apparently won #1 in a competition, which is really cool. I'm actually not much of a coffee drinker because I'm sensitive to caffeine, but I tried my friend's coffee and it was REALLY good. I'm more of a matcha girl, and I've already been there twice The first time I got an iced matcha sweetened with her banana bread syrup, and you could actually taste the banana flavor. So good. The second time I got another iced matcha with coconut milk, vanilla sweetener, and ube cold foam... also amazing. And the cookies?? SO GOOD. Homemade and definitely worth it. We got some the first time, and I ended up going back and buying three more I also tried the breakfast burrito since it was breakfast time and I hadn't eaten yet. Tucked away next to a barber shop, this neighborhood spot is a great spot to get your coffee fix. First time here, and staff were patient with suggesting items for me on the menu. I opted for one of their summer menu specials which was too sweet for me, but that was my fault for getting something with syrup. Next time I'll try an unsweetened option.
