My husband and I stayed in the country oak loft suite at the Hideaway Inn on a hot August night. The area is serene and a beautiful quiet country setting. Our suite was beautiful and I loved the spiral staircase. I didn't think about the hot August weather when booking a loft suite so in hind sight the room would have been better suited for us during a cooler month. We enjoyed slipping into our robes and drinking cocktails on the porch rocking in the rocking chairs. It was a perfect, relaxing setting. We tried to utilize our jacuzzi tub but the well water was a little too yellow and smelly for me personally so we opted to skip that part and drive down the street to check out some local restaurants. The town is small and quaint and we found a great spot to grab some dinner and drinks that wasn't far from the Inn. read more

My husband and I recently stayed at Hideaway to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Smith room after being notified of a problem with the room we reserved. We arrived to find the room decorated with rose petals and candles, a bottle of wine, and chocolate covered strawberries, just for the room switch.The private balcony with hot tub was amazing and we were totally relaxed. This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here, and we will absolutely be doing it again. The first time we stayed was in February 2018 and we got the Oak room. The spiral staircase was such a nice touch. My husband surprised me with the romantic dinner for two in their library and a romance package with balloons filled with love notes. Both were amazing. This time, we stayed in the Napoleon room, which used to be the Cherry Blossom room. We had a 2 course breakfast delivered to our room, and the quality and presentation was excellent. The Jacuzzi tub was fantastic after our long drive. I cannot say enough how fantastic the coffee was. The room has its own French press, electric kettle, and coffee grounds. The only MINOR issue we had was how warm the loft part of the room was. However, in an amazing act of hospitality, staff set up an extra fan up which cooled the loft off nicely. (I should also add, my husband and I like it much colder than most people, so for anyone who wasn't us, the temperature would probably have been fine). read more

Every year we go on a fall weekend getaway, and this year we had won a gift certificate to the HideAway so that's where we headed. We couldn't leave until after work on Friday, and by the time we ate dinner we wouldn't be arriving until nearly 10pm. If you come in late, they give you a door code for your individual room so that the office person doesn't have to wait for you to arrive. The night we arrived the road sign (which is normally illuminated) wasn't lit up so we drove right past it - that area is super dark so you really have to watch for the turn. When we walked into the Inn, we had no idea where to find our room. There isn't any type of room layout map to consult, so we wandered around the first floor, and then found our way upstairs and finally found it. Our room was nice and roomy, had a mini fridge with some bottled water, and, the main reason I picked it, a nice and hot, hot tub! We used the hot tub several times during our stay - even though most of the time we were in the tub it was raining on us, but we loved having this special aspect. We found out the next morning that they have little gel packs in the office that you can use in the tub to add a scent which we did that evening and it was really nice. The bathroom is definitely showing its age, but this is an old Inn so you aren't expecting brand new fixtures. But it really seemed like it took forever to get hot water - both in the sink and the shower. That was a bit challenging. Our first night the people in the room next to us kept their tv on all night - I'm a light sleeper and I could hear it pretty clearly through the walls so it kept waking me up. Thank goodness they checked out the next morning - our second night was a much better night sleep. Breakfast is served at 10am - there is only one seating. When we sat down we were brought a plate with yogurt, berries, granola and a slice of lemon pound cake, along with coffee, tea and orange juice. It was all delicious, and to be honest, I thought that was our whole meal. But then it was cleared away and we were brought hamburger gravy over biscuits. I am not a gravy on biscuits-type person, but did try and do the adult thing and take a bite, but I couldn't do it. My boyfriend ate it up though. To be fair, they did ask if they could make me an omelet so I agreed (and I heard others being offered that too - probably should have asked us all before automatically serving the prepared breakfast, would have had a lot less waste). The omelet was ok, nothing special. I'm sure the grounds are really nice in the spring/summer, and on a rainy November weekend they were harder to appreciate, but the area was very scenic. We spent our day window shopping in Bucyrus and Galion, and had a great time, and then enjoyed our hot tub again that night and the next morning. Rooms are small, Fridge on the floor and our Fireplace was broke, fixed, and broke again. No blackout shades so the porch light shines right into your room. The restaurant is closed...that would have been nice to know. The owner is extremely rude. I took a chance and booked this place and should have stuck with our favorite...Nemacolin Woodlands in PA. Trust me IHG has better Hot tub rooms and they are honest. read more

DO NOT STAY at The HideAway Country Inn in Bucyrus, OH! We stayed there because we read an article on MSN.com about it. It was a huge mistake. Read all the reviews before you make your decision to stay here & use caution if you post anything negative. The owner/operator will harass you to no end. We stayed in the Eagle's Nest suite. The room was not clean even though they charge you an extra cleaning fee. There were dead flowers in a vase with moldy water. There were no game tables in the suite as described on the website. The couch looked as if it had been used as an ashtray. I'm not sure what the coffee was as it was in a container with a hand written "Becca's Blend" label. The "Shared Covered Porch with Rocking Chairs" must have been meant to share with someone working on a power washer. They boast "Fine Dining Onsite" & free full hot breakfast. We ordered breakfast in our room our first morning. When it was delivered, nobody knocked on the door to let us know the meal had arrived. At 9:15am, my husband opened the door & it was on the door step. I don't know how long it was there but the food was cold. The food was so awful we didn't finish our breakfast the first day & we completely skipped breakfast on our second day & ate at a restaurant instead. We should have known when the sign by the street read "Fine Dinning" instead of dining. There were supposed to be "Spa Quality" fine soaps, lotions, etc. The soaps, what I'm assuming were soaps, were small slivers of mystery soap in plastic bags & there were no lotions. The shampoo & conditioner were in green bottles with hand written labels. Good thing we always bring our own. The shower was moldy & had dead bugs and hair inside. We let the hot water run for quite a while before getting in. The king size "Restonic Comfort Care" mattress was old & someone had written on the mattress with permanent marker. We could see it because the sheets did not fit & kept coming off. The sheets were also dirty & there were bugs in the bed. There were also leftover rose petals by the bed from the couple before us. I hope that couple wasn't charged a cleaning fee because it was obvious that didn't happen. The 3-sided gas fireplace did not work. Due to all the bugs & spiders we didn't even attempt to try the whirlpool tub. There was also a piece of paper neatly folded up & tucked in the corner of our bathroom mirror containing grey power inside. After showing it to a member of law enforcement we were told it was heroin. The owner/operator was rude. When we arrived, our room code didn't work & she told us that it was our fault as we had arrived before check in time. We arrived after 4pm, the check-in time. When I pointed this out to her, she hung up on me. Several minutes later, she called back & told me to try the code again. She entered our code incorrectly. We tried to contact her at the office via phone call & text & she never responded. We tried to go to the office, but all the doors were locked. We were let in by other guests exiting. When we did get inside, there was no one there except two Hispanic ladies who did not speak English. When we asked for the owner/operator, they didn't understand what we were saying. Shame on us for not speaking Spanish. We have stayed at bed & breakfasts all over the country & this by far was the worst experience we've ever had at one. I wish I would have read the reviews online ahead of time instead of trusting the MSN article that I read. The website states "Voted BEST place to stay for business travel & Award Winning". I'm not sure who voted & what award was given out but this is misleading. It also states "Luxury Lodging". There is nothing luxurious about this place. read more

We booked the Louis the XIV room and apon arrival the room was given to someone else.. I booked the room in advance. They told me someone with a handicap took my room since it was the only handicap room they have. I only booked the room for the Jacuzzi. They would not refund me my money so I called my bank and they refunded the money. If someone calls with a handicap and there are no rooms available, thats what you tell them. WE HAVE NO ROOMS AVAILABLE... Not take the room I booked and drove over 2 hrs... Debbie is the worst lady to deal with.. Please do not stay here. This lady need humbled alot... My fiancé and I booked this for a quick getaway from the chaos of our world right now. This place has exceeded our expectations by far! We were taken care of the entire time by Kendra (who is always working hard!) since the moment we arrived. We stayed in the treehouse suite (attached pictures) and immediately fell in love with the place when we arrived. If your looking for old world charm, this is your place. It's very unique and obviously the building has aged overtime, but you don't find kind/friendly people who go above and beyond for your stay like you do here. If your looking for brand new/ up to date luxury decor, this is not for you. This place has been around since the 20's so it's not brand new! Also, there is well water so bring essential oils for the tub, bottled drinking water, or you can purchase stuff downstairs in the lobby. We also added the massage table in the DIY package because the massage therapist are hard to find in the area and with COVID it was the better option. My husband and I wanted a weekend getaway not too far from Columbus. We've been to Hocking Hills a few times and loved it, but thought we'd try something new. I came upon this place and was impressed by their website. The location is lovely, even in the wintertime. It is mostly quiet, except for the train that runs nearby on a frequent basis. We stayed in the Smith room in the main house. I booked this one because it is one of 2 rooms with a hot tub. They also have a second house on the property with larger rooms. On first glance, the rooms are homey and decorated in B&B style, like staying at grandma's. What was disappointing was that I immediately noticed that there was water on the ground coming from the fridge. I pointed this out to the employee who showed us the room. She said she'd be back to wipe it up, but never came back. I ended up cleaning it up since I didn't want it to damage their rug. When I went to the bathroom to unpack my toiletries, I noticed that the shade was on the ground, so I hung it back up. There was also broken glass on the counter from the shelves that had been taken down; the shards rested on a magazine that hadn't been disposed of. The sink had one working knob and since the property runs off well water, there were rust stains around the fixtures. All this aside, I was still fine with our accommodations. We decided to use the hot tub, but once I saw that the water was yellow and had a funny smell, I opted out. My husband went in, but came out a short time later feeling "slimy". I'm sure it's just because it has well water, but they should let you know since it gives off the appearance of being dirty. My husband decided to take a dip again the next night but by that time the water temp. was 80 degrees and he couldn't get it to warm up. Disappointing since we booked the room for the hot tub. I decided to try the TV, but despite using both remotes, couldn't get it to work. Their wifi was fine, so I ended up watching Hulu on my phone. The next day we decided to head out to Mansfield to catch the Maple Festival at Malabar Farms. I started to pack my bag for the day and noticed that the fridge had frozen all our food and drinks. Ugh. The day out in Mansfield was fun, though it was a 50-minute drive. There really isn't much to do near the property and food options are limited. We came back and our room wasn't made, but there were towels and a trash bag placed on our bed. Not sure why there was an envelope in the room for a housekeeping tip if nothing was made up. On a positive note, the common areas of the inn were cozy and nice. We had dinner in the bar area of the restaurant on the first night. It is updated and has a fireplace. I had the ribeye dinner with a Caesar salad and finished with the lemon pie. For $35 for just the entree, I thought it was a bit high for what we got. The romaine lettuce was wilted and my ribeye was overcooked and unseasoned. I was hungry, so ate it anyway. The lemon pie was good, so happy about that. I liked my Belgian beer too. All in all, the staff was friendly and the place comfy. I'm not sure we will be back based on the fact that there isn't much to do around there. My suggestion to the owners is that they take time to spend the night in each of their rooms to learn more about what needs to be addressed. Also, if the intent is to market the restaurant as high-class dining, then the food needs to be improved up to warrant those prices. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I first visited this establishment several years ago, just for the day, as we had a new baby and couldn't be away from him for long. They talked up a nice picnic basket lunch.....it was Subway!! They also had a wedding going on that day and gave us absolutely no other attention--even at check out. Fast forward years later. Under new management. We attended a retreat held at HideAway. What a severe disappointment. Breakfast was minimal and weird. No protein at all. Lunch was so horrible, none of us could eat the bread on the sandwiches, it was rock solid. On top of all of that, the customer service with our retreat leaders was absolutely terrible. This place has potential to be a real gem, but it needs serious work and an entire new staff!!!!! We wouldn't return to the Hideaway if it was free. read more

This place is a joke. The owner will not give you a refund for any reason whatsoever. She will spin it on you making it your fault. The bathrooms were dirty, the hot tub not working ,etc. you wouldn't even want to sit on the outdoor furniture. It was weathered and old and may fall apart or provide multiple splinters. It's clear there have been no recent updates. Looks like nothing is going back Into the rooms, etc. no updates. There was only one employee there that did everything. She was new and clearly understood our feelings as numerous previous guests expressed the same and left earlier also we would not accept the free nights stay as we are a few hours away and why would we want to return and experience what we already had before. They can keep the free nights stay and ..... .. .. ..... ... don't stay here. you will be disappointed. Also, you will probably see a response from the owner trying to say how she tried to make it right with free nights stay. Don't buy into it. This place is about a $50 value at a $250+ per night cost. Not worth it. We left the next day and went to the wishmaker which is about 40 minutes away Check out the wishmaker or any other places in this area. Do not go to the HideAway country inn. Read the BBB reviews before booking. Arrived to the Hidaway and checked in. We were supposed to have a couples massage. One massage therapist didn't show. They wouldn't discount the price. They charged my card ahead of time and wouldn't refund for the massage. They are notorious for not refunding anything. I paid over 1500. for one night stay, couples massage and dinner. I expected a top notch place. The package was supposed to have lit candles, chilled wine, chocolates and flowers. No wine and chocolates in the room. When I was upset with not getting my massage clerk brought the wine and said I brought this to smooth over the problem. We was supposed to get that anyway. At dinner the waitress dumped a full glass of water down my husbands back. The fireplace didn't work. The bath stopper was missing and had a rubber flap that didn't work. The bathroom fan was extremely loud and sounded broke. The toilet ran constantly and wouldn't flush. The front desk clerk was aggressive and unprofessional. We didn't even stay the night because we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. read more

Hubby and I went to Hideaway inn for our 4th or 5th year in a row to celebrate our anniversary. We always get one of the bigger, private rooms in the back building. We have never complained about anything when we have gone and always keep to ourselves. So when we arrived for our anniversary weekend and I noticed that there were items in the shower and fridge not thrown away from previous guests, I was like "eh, not going to stress over that" but after that..... the jacuzzi tub had no water pressure and unable to use. At 9:00 at night they said we could switch rooms but we were all unpacked and it was late. The next morning there was no water pressure in the shower. When we went to breakfast, an employee came over as soon as we sat down and very rudely asked "so you're the ones with the water issues in the oak?" She offered a gift certificate for our next stay..... Let me clarify that every year we receive a certificate at checkout for our next stay so I explained that, that doesn't make up for anything and I wanted a discount on this stay. They refused. Upon checkout, the staff did not apologize and barely spoke to my husband. I emailed the Inn Keeper, she asked if she could call me the next day due to personal issues. I never received a phone call. I gave her 3 days.... I emailed once again and she said I should be receiving a free night in the mail. My point in all this is that all I wanted was to use the certificate on the current stay. We spend a good amount of money every year when we come for a weekend. In the end the staff was rude, I never received a call as promised and we will not be going back. We will find a new tradition for our anniversary. I'll also point out that the heater did not work properly, kicked on and off frequently so we just turned it off all together and they are in desperate need of remodeling. read more

I booked The HideAway Inn In Bucyrus, OH, as a gift to my husband for our fifth wedding anniversary. What a mistake. We're in our 70s. I chose the HideAway based on photos and their online brochure. I feel the establishment was misrepresented. I understand that Covid has made it more difficult than usual to keep a hospitality operation going but HideAway charges Las Vegas prices and provides minimal value. I think the General Manager is bailing as fast as she can but the ship is sinking. We were the only guests for our midweek stay. I booked The Cherry Suite, at $310 a night, with a steam shower because my husband loves to steam. The room does have a steam shower. The room is in the basement and by the second afternoon smelled of bad drains. It was clean except for the occasional beetle. The "beautiful view" described in the brochure turned out to be a dirty window well. The "Anniversary on a Budget" I purchased ($204) was a vase of white roses and 12 votives with tea lights. Somewhate underwhelming for $204. I understand no one wants candles blazing in their woood paneled room because of fire danger but it was still somewhat disappointing considering the cost. Perhaps it was meant to include a semi-private dinner with fireplace, candlelight, and a lovely view. I forget and I can't find it on their website now. Our "gourmet breakfast" (served at 10 a.m. in the basement, not in the semi-private dining room with country views) was a scoop of Dannon vanilla yogurt, a slice of Hostess pound cake, one halved strawberry and a few blueberries in a plastic cup, and bacon and scrambled eggs with diced peppers. There was coffee, cream, and to-go cups, too, and a can of V-8 juice for each of us. Because we wanted to attend a program at a nearby Nature Center at 8 a.m. the next morning our second day breakfast was provided ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, which was appreciated. It was the same as our first breakfast minus the eggs and bacon. I booked a massage for myself and my husband at $125 each plus a $50 fee for use of the massage room. Again, Las Vegas prices. The massage therapist, Cody Hayes, of Clinical Pressure in Mt. Vernon, OH, was possibly the best I've ever had. That includes the therapist at Canyon Ranch Spa in Las Vegas, NV, who was also top-notch. The massage was nearly a month ago and my hands are still pain free and other areas he worked on are still functioning better than before. I booked two special dinners for our anniversary. I was promised sumptious meals in beautiful surroundings, candlelight, soft music, and pleasant views. Because there is no chef there were no meals (and no charge, of course). I booked the HideAway in part because evening meals were to be available. I don't like driving, especially at night, and especially in an unfamiliar area and the promise of on-site dining was another reason I chose HideAway Inn. We were comped two cans of IPA but were unable to get to the office cooler to buy more because everything was locked. The brochure said we could get limited room service (e.g. a bucket of beer or bottle of wine and charcuterie) but no one answered the phone. Overall I'm hugely disappointed at what I got for what I paid. Like I said, Las Vegas prices for minimal value. My husband and I still enjoyed ourselves because we rolled with the punches but a less flexible couple would have had a ruined anniversary celebration. read more

What can I say! Hubby and I have been coming to this quaint bed and breakfast for the past 16 years! We came here the first time for our honeymoon and have come back every year since. Rooms are beautiful with 300 gallon hot tubs! Themed rooms and they all have a story! Breakfast is included in the price and it's very scenic. If you want to get away from home this is a great place to have a romantic getaway or just relax. They have many add on packages and spa packages. They also have a beautiful gazebo if you want a wedding here. We loved it so much we sent our son and his wife here for their honeymoon! Drop by and say hello to Debbie the owner. Before our trip, we called multiple times to go over their Covid precautions and they assured us they were taking all necessary precautions. After our multiple hour trip to get to the inn, we were informed the staff wasn't required to wear masks. We didn't feel safe so we left and drove all the way back home. After being incredibly unresponsive, the owner (who I have yet to make successful contact with, she isn't responding to us) will NOT give us a refund for our very expensive stay and dining reservations. I booked a two night stay at this location (as a surprise to my wife) and purchased the 'Revitalization Package', which increased the price significantly. This package includes a 60 minute couples massage, chilled wine and cheese plate upon arrival, a picnic basket dinner delivered to the room, and a basket of movies to watch together. I also scheduled breakfast to be delivered and a private candlelit dinner. When I booked, I called and spoke to Samantha who said she was the innkeeper. She seemed very pleasant and willing to help. She took my order for my picnic basket and chilled wine and booked me into the Eagles Nest Suite. The suite boasts a two person hot tub, satellite television, a king bed, and a host of other relatively standard amenities such as wifi and mini fridge. I was told that when I arrived the wine would be in the room and chilled along with the cheese plate. I arranged for the picnic basket to be delivered that evening and our candle lit private dinner for two. We arrived and upon check in we were told there was a problem with the television. Something about it not working properly. The owner was sitting there, pointed at my wife and said, "Why do you need the TV when you have her with you." She laughed it off but I thought that I need the TV to watch the movies I paid to have in the room. More on that later... So we get taken to the room and it was exactly what I expected based on the pictures online, except for two things.... 1. The TV worked but the remote did not. This was aggravating as we couldn't really use the TV. 2. As I looked around I could not find the wine or the cheese plate. I asked the lady where it was and she had no idea. So we waited about 30 minutes and a knock on the door signaled the arrival of the cheese plate and wine. I was looking around and realized I didnt have the movies OR a DVD player to play them. Approximately 40 minutes later another knock on the door. Same lady on the other side with dinner and the movie basket! I thought, "ok here we go, finally." Silly me. She brought the insulated food carrier in and explained our picnic dinner was inside. She placed the movies down and told us to enjoy the movie basket. She started to leave and I said, "Ma'am, what am I going to watch the movies with?" She kind of laughed and looked around. Noticing there was no DVD player, she blamed someone and said she would take care of it and left the room. We dove into dinner and were met with a bit of a disappointment. Here is what I ordered: 2 steak dinners (with mushroom demi on the SIDE 1 medium and 1 medium well) with mashed potatoes, 1 ranch dressing and 1 French dressing for the salads. Cheesecake or chocolate for dessert, 1 water and 1 soda (I believe they served Coke). Here is what we got: 2 steak dinners both relatively thin ribeyes (which makes it very difficult to render the fat). My steak had a small side of green beans and a large mac n cheese, hers had a large green bean and small asparagus. Her salad had a blue cheese dressing and mine had some sort of vinaigrette. The desserts were a lemon poundcake and a raspberry tart. Along with 2 waters. As you can see, almost all of it was wrong and it was not tasty at all. Steaks were fatty and desserts blah. Most of the dinner was uneaten...much to my disappointment. We attempted to get the hot tub going. The water was definitely brown. I called and was told that the water is well water and filtered. She explained it was totally safe... but.... still... brown. After awhile it cleared up and we enjoyed the hot tub and the wine that was delivered earlier. The next morning breakfast was delivered and it was delicious. After breakfast we went exploring the wonderfully charming town of Bucyrus. We knew our couples massage was scheduled for 430pm and had several hours to kill. I got too wordy and had to cut my review of the massage. Advice: dont get one. It was awful. The private dinner was a 5 course meal and we were very worried about the quality (yay no green beans). Shrimp cocktail, salad, filet mignon, salmon, then dessert. Everything tasted great and the desserts were the best. The inn sits on a charming property that is quiet and very private. The bar sports a beautiful patio was seating, corn hole, and a fire pit. The property is beautiful. This place could be a 5 start destination with just a few fixes. The biggest is deliver on the promise. Dont promise me movies, wine, cheese, etc..and forget to do it. Fix your water. Brown water is unattractive and it screams, "This water is dirty!" If there is a glaring issue with something FIX IT, and then MAKE IT UP to the customer. I would say reserve this place but dont purchase the extras. There is a wine place in town that sells the same Moscato for 13.99 a bottle. Bring your own and it'll be amazing. read more

This a good place for a quiet get away. The services, and extras are great. We had chocolate fondue in the room, and breakfast in bed- both wonderful experiences. The main building is a little basic if you're used to cozy, intimate bed and breakfasts. It is noisy- it seems as if you can hear every footstep in entire building, along with the music in the restaurant downstairs. Also to know, the water in the sink and hot tub smell very strongly of sulphur. Whether it is always this strong, I don't know. The grounds are beautiful and the food is excellent. If you like shrimp, get the lemony shrimp dinner. It is excellent as was everything we ate. All in all, we would go again, particularly if they fix the water issue. read more

Let me just say that if you are looking for something unique instead of just a nice hotel room than this is the place! My husband and I booked a two night getaway for our 1st wedding anniversary and we stayed in the Napoleon Suite. Everything was clean and the staff was helpful. Scenery was beautiful, very calming atmosphere. I can't say too much about the 1938 restaurant because we only ate breakfast there but the food was very good as was the presentation. Its only about an hour drive from Columbus which was great for us. We will most definitely be back! read more

My two nights in the Inventor's Escape was delightful! We experienced no problems during our stay and would definitely recommend it for anyone needing a relaxing, quiet getaway. My wife and I had stayed at HideAway Country Inn about 13 years ago for our 20th anniversary and had a wonderful time. So much so that we decided to celebrate our 33rd anniversary there last weekend. I'm sorry to say that this stay was not so wonderful. All of the employees we had contact with were very nice and made the stay better. The issues present were the water, the bed, the rug in the room, the toilet, dinner experience and the breakfast. Water I understand that they have well water, I grew up in the country and am well aware of the smell and taste present in most well water. I would think that since they are running a business that includes romantic Jacuzzi experiences that they would invest in a good water purifier. My wife was so put off by the smell that she couldn't stay in the room the second night and we decided to leave. Bed We stayed in the Carpenter room and the bed had a king size mattress but a queen size box spring. The sides of the bed sloped down because of the miss-match and if you were not careful they could slide off the bed in the middle of the night. Rug The rug was an off white color and had several dubious brown stains on it. We did not want to walk on it in bare feet. Toilet The toilet had a grey coating around it and we felt the need clean it before using it and every time we tried to flush, the water would simply sit and not go down. Dinner(s) Friday night we went down to the 1938 Restaurant expecting a fine dining experience based on the website and the fact that we were encouraged to make reservations. We walked down to the restaurant and found nobody there. We entered the Pub area and met the waitress. She was wonderful but a little bit overwhelmed. We understand that they were short staffed that night, but we were disappointed that, unlike the website suggested, the restaurant was unable to make special accommodations for our meal. My wife wanted to add chicken to one of the salads and was told she was unable to do that. Breakfast The one thing we remembered about our prior visit was the wonderful pastries and baked goods that you had available for breakfast. This trip's breakfast started out with weak coffee and a mushroom pate pastry, followed by a vanilla yogurt with fresh berries. The dish the yogurt was in was to narrow to fit the spoon in, we had to use our knives to reach the rest of the yogurt. My wife's scrambled eggs were nice and hot, mine were cold. I also never got hot sauce and ketchup. This meal was nothing like the one we had 13 years ago. We were expecting something more. After dinner on Saturday, we went up to our room and the smell of the water, the sloping bed, the rug and toilet combined to ruin the mood. I wasn't even looking forward breakfast. We decided to leave and return home instead of staying the second night. We realize that things happen and we can overlook it when they do. In this case there were too many things that went wrong, and our experience was not what we had been looking forward to. We regret spending $500 for an anniversary present to ourselves that ended up being disappointing. read more

I was really disappointed in the customer service as HideAway Country Inn. A week before our scheduled trip, my daughter was admitted to ICU after a 40 minute seizure, pneumonia and septic shock. I received no sympathy, a few mentions of policy and no return calls from the owner. A little ironic that a place that is all about rest and relaxation has added to a very stressful time for my family. Stay away as this group certainly doesn't have the customer's best interest at heart. Not sure why this is filtered. I have my credit card records, hospital records, and phone records to verify. I wish I could give a 0 star review! My husband and I eloped there. We were told we would be getting a cheese tray and margarita package upon arrival... that was not the case we had to ask about it 4 hours later.... we were allowed to check in early because we were getting married... well they forgot to book an officiant so we really didn't need early arrival since we had to wait and wait... we paid $45 for 4 small margarita bottles of premix.. and another $45 for a handful of crackers and 4 kinds of cheese from a grocery store... then we paid $75 for the staff to use phones and an iPad to take pictures... they emailed my husband 14 copy and pasted blurry photos my 4 month old could have taken.... they other girl that took out photos (probably 16 years old) told us at dinner how wonderful our pictures turned out! Now almost a month later the owner finally emailed me back saying the girls phone broke... and oh sorry... I feel like the whole weekend was overpriced and only two staff members actually cared to make our weekend memorable... I'm so upset I wasted my wedding at this place! We most definitely will not ever go back! And want to warn everyone how awful this place actually is!! Stay home or find a better place to go save your money you'll thank me in the end!!! read more

My wife and I reserved a room for two nights as a getaway for our 35th anniversary. We checked in Friday evening and noticed an odor to the place. When we went into our room the smell was worse. Upon entering the bathroom, the sulfur odor was horrible. When we ran the water in the sink, the smell was overpowering. The room came with a jacuzzi but there would be no way to use it because of the smell. The sulfur smell was so strong that using the tub would make you vomit We stayed the night as it was too late to leave and find a place. By keeping the bathroom door shut and using a gallon of distilled water that we kept in the car, we were able to brush our teeth and not be overpowered by the smell. The next day we talked to the owner about leaving early, and she refused to cancel the charge on the second night. She stated that we knew it was well water as it was stated on the website (we checked and it is NOT there). After a rather nasty confrontation we left. The owner stated she runs a low profit business and that 4 different water companies said this problem could not be fixed. We checked upon coming home with various water companies and they stated there were several solutions that the owner could use. The staff were really nice and the rooms were very quaint. Our stay was a complete let down. We found ant trails and some creepy bugs in our room. Rust stains on the bath tub. Musty smelling. The owner Debra Miller was full of excuses, refused to refund or discount. Moved us to another room which really, was worse than the first. We were here to consider this location for our wedding. Definitely would have to tell you to save your money, their event planner wouldn't even listen to our wishes. Waste of a beautiful location when you have a crappy staff, owner and BUGS. I have been here several times over the past 20 years, my husband proposed to me here so it has sentimental value. Customer service is not consistent at all. Some serious maintenance issues around the property and in the room. Stairs to our tree house were in poor shape and the paint was three different colors. There was a full ashtray on our tree house patio. Our room was clean and satisfactory but not well appointed. No salt or pepper or other items such as paper towels a kitchen should have. Our scheduled services were late . Cookies and ice cream scheduled to come at 3 never came until we went down and asked and rescheduled the time. Our couples Massage was over 30 minutes late because they said they noticed we ordered a pizza ( to eat AFTER our massage) and they wanted to give us time to eat.. you should not eat before a massage and we would have liked to be asked if we wanted to wait. Some of the staff were friendly and courteous and others not so much. One day breakfast was filling and the next it was scanty. One visit a year ago we were given options... eggs or French toast... we enjoyed having a choice. This visit we had no choice. They blasted 90s Rock at breakfast which was for the kitchen staff and did little to add ambience to the country inn.The extras are way over priced, we were provided a gift certificate as a wedding gift and had many extras added. $60 for fake rose petals that looked old. I think they can do better and should have a lesson in customer service. read more

The pictures on the cite are deceiving. There was water damage in our room. The room was ok but not what I thought it was going to be. They don't advertise that they have well water. So we were so excited to have a jacuzzi in our room. But when u don't know that its well water and you start to fill the tub and black stuff comes out of the pipe and it smells really bad.. You get turned off and don't use the jacuzzi. We need to fill out a papper for breakfast. It said that we could give it to housekeeping, to office mail box or text it. I couldn't find house keeping and text wouldn't go throw. So I went down to the office no one was there and could not find the mail box. Come to find out the mailbox was outside. We ended up calling and letting them know what we wanted. We added on there hour couples message and a 5 course candle light dinner. The couples massage was our first ever massage. When we got there we were told that one of the massage therapist had a family emergency. So our massages would go like this...half hour for my husband then have him turn over and start on me for half hour then go back to hubby then back to me. Being a first time and really wanting to experience this and also paying good money for it I said ok. You would think since it took 2 hours to do both our massages, we sat for a half hour between the other half of the massage and there was only one therapies that they would a offer a discount or to add something. Nope! The dinner was not good either.. Noodles were hard and steak was really fatty..There was never anyone at the front desk/office. I rang the bell twice and no one came. No wonder they hide it away.....(food review only) Came for Easter brunch and it was pretty disastrous. Maybe 25 people in the restaurant and they couldn't keep buffet filled or the entrees hot. Entrees were no good. Scalloped potatoes were cold and broken, lamb was so overlooked it could have been called jerky, the over cooked spring veggies were overcooked summer squash. It was obvious to owners/manager and server we had a horrible experience and no offer was made to reconcile. Do not eat here with any expectations. I'm not a malicious person and do not write bad reviews but our family got robbed today and enough people in a position that could have made it better did not. read more

We found this cozy and tranquil B & B by good luck on our return drive from Florida. Owner Debbie Miller made us feel most welcome and told us all about this place's interesting history and her family's impressive farming operations. She personally prepared our delicious breakfast of vanilla yogurt, strawberries, sweet potato waffles and ham. We will certainly return and recommend this to family and friends. read more

My husband and i went for our wedding night almost a year ago. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast the next day was pretty nice. But everything was really overpriced. It was $80 for very few fake pedals put around the room. Also there was a random service fee not discussed also charged on it. So that's disappointing. Overall out stay was okay. Unfortunately, we will never be back as we found out they were hosting a brunch for the confederate flag parade, especially in the year 2015. Tried to schedule a girls' spa day as advertised on their website and the staff, owner and prices were unaccommodating. The prices provided on the website are not the same as those provided by the owner, and neither of those prices are the same as provided by the event planner. The owner tries to gouge you at every turn by way over pricing services and refuses to work with you. Absolutely not worth the hassle. A number of years ago, before Yelp, we put a deposit of$1000 for a wedding, which we cancelled in plenty of time to get the deposit back. They would not return our money. We finally wrote a letter that said we would sue, but still nothing. We didn't sue because we were in Columbus and didn't know how to proceed. This place is an absolute JOKE!!! Stayed here for a couple of days in early Oct, and the only good thing about this place is the Innkeeper that bent over backwards for all the customers by herself. The owner I still have not got a response from wont give a refund to save her life!! The room would have been beautiful if it was cleaned! There was LEGIT poop in toilet, and hairs all over the shower, hot tub, and the white bedding! Breakfast was cold before they got it to our room, and so many extra charges for things I didn't even get! Thank goodness my bank sided with us instead of the money hungry owner that refuses to give us a refund for a $230 dinner we didnt even get to have because there was no chief. The one time i did speak with the owner she was just extremely rude! She was yelling and screaming at us trying to tell us we did have the dinner for 2 and that she would not give us a refund and basically called me a liar just to keep the $230 for a candlight dinner we NEVER had!! no mask on any of the employees, and a so called OZONE machine that suppose to sanitize the room that's not even supposed to be used for this kind of property! I've done my research on these! She also treats her staff very unprofessional yelling and screaming at them! She needs to be shut down, and we are taken step for that! No we dont want a gift of $50 off of a 2 night stay because we will NEVER be back. We have made complaints with the bbb, and the department of labor, the health department and so on!! HOPE THEY SHUT HER DOWN JUST BECAUSE OF NOT DOING YOUR PART FOR COVID EITHER!! You know they cant wear mask there because there a lot of stairs hahaha WHAT?!?! read more
