We saw the truck come while were there on Friday and they emptied the numerous cans into the truck and took a large assortment of bulk waste items from the curb. We pay Heip every month to pick up out trash. They come maybe half of their scheduled pick ups. We live in an area where animals will ravage the trash so every time they miss, we have to haul the trash back down our hill and put it inside our shed. they use every excuse in the book, including Tree trimming , blocked roads, etc. But most of the time there are no obstacles. We're tired of paying for our service that we are not receiving, but there are very few options to change companies. We certainly would if we could. read more

I wish that I could leave no stars. Company is very unprofessional and rude. I am very disappointed in our service and the way we have been treated recently. We missed one payment due to my own personal health issues and instead of making a simple phone call or sending us a letter telling us service would be interrupted without prompt payment they stopped taking our garbage without warning - as soon as we realized our error, we sent out a check for the missed payment and the rest of the year and they are refusing to pick up garbage until check is received. We mailed the check immediately but with a holiday weekend we have no control over mail service. How about common business courtesy of a warning first? My husband was also injured when one of the workers asked him to help him lift a piece of garbage into the back of the truck (the worker dropped a piece of furniture that ended up resulting in a severe head injury to my husband). We never made an issue of it because mistakes happen - what a concept, huh? One would think that because we have to pay privately for garbage pickup (and it's not included in our taxes like a large part of Rockland County) that a family run business would know how to treat their customers. We have been stuck with this garbage service for most of the forty years we have lived in this house. It keeps getting ruder and more inept. I didn't realize how bad the situation was until I took over my terminally ill husband's garbage duties. My garbage is always bagged in heavyweight commercial bags and carefully tied, then taken out to the curb in rolling cans. I must go through the contents of my garbage bags carefully: they will not collect anything they feel is not within their "rules" to take.The lid is never lowered on the cans after they are emptied, resulting in water, ice and snow at the bottom of the cans. I have to turn the heavy cans upside down to get rid of the accumulated ice, snow and liquid, not an easy feat for a 78 year old woman. Yesterday one of my bags must have broken. I came home to find my garbage all over the road. For the first time, the lid was down on the can. This was to conceal all the loose garbage now at the bottom of the can, frozen to the bottom. I couldn't get it all out. Both the garbage collectors and the office which I called seemed completely unconcerned, and though I've asked them repeatedly to please lower the lids on my garbage cans, they refuse to do so. Since the city pays for this service, I don't even have the option of hiring anyone else. read more
