An old time shoe store that actually provides customer service . Imagine a knowledgeable sales staff that takes the time to measure your feet and take the insets out of the shoes to see where your arch meets up . Forget Bobs stores , Walmart , or Tractor supply one size fits all boots . Prices were comparable to big box stores and they stock real work boots , gloves , high vis , socks , jackets , vests , bibs , hats , long underwear and scrubs for nurses and medics professionals. I had to buy a pair of work boots for the first time in about 15 years due to a new job. Lee, a salesman at High Country, deserves some recognition. Upon my first visit, I mentioned some issues I had with my feet, primarily my left foot, and how I was required to wear a shoe lift which might make fitting me with a pair of boots more difficult. Lee remained patient as I tried on several pairs of boots, all the time offering me suggestions. After about an hour, I decided on a pair of Timberlands. I bought a couple different pairs of duck pants along with the boots. A few days later, I unfortunately had to return the Timberlands because they became too uncomfortable due to the tongues cutting into my ankles. I also had to return a pair of pants because they were also uncomfortable. My returns were taken back with zero trouble. Lee recognized me and immediately went to work yet again finding me a comfortable boot. I must have tried on another fifteen pairs, and again, Lee remained patient and helpful, even while there were several other customers requiring his help. I had just about decided on a pair of Terra boots, however I still was not completely satisfied with how they felt on my left foot while walking. Lee took the boot out back and stretched it for me in an attempt to free up some space, no charge, and even brought the boot out to show me exactly what he was doing. With the Terras in hand, I went back up to pay. The gentleman behind the counter asked why I was unhappy with the Carhartt pants I returned. I explained how they felt like I was wearing a parachute, however I very much liked the Key duck pants that I had also bought, but they only had my size in one color. He offered to order me whichever Key pants I wanted, so I had him order two more pairs in different colors for me. When all was said and done, my balance was about a dollar, which he refused to take from me. Lee also appeared once again, and gave me a container of leather conditioner for free. All in all, I am very impressed with the customer service I received at HCWW. Lee is a true dying breed- I would never in a thousand years receive the same service from a big box store. Been getting my work shoes here for years now. In the past, the staff there has been very helpful and willing to answer questions about the various types of shoes and informative as to their features. I went there 2 days ago, a Salesman approached me while I was looking at various shoes, he asked if he could help me. So I started asking questions about the quality of the shoes, both in general and compared to other Brands and styles. Every question I asked was answered with a standoffish "I can't guarantee anything". Multiple times I said to the sales rep, I'm not looking for guarantees I'm looking for information. As a consumer I understand the sales rep can't guarantee anything about the shoes, I get it. But when you are asking questions about how one shoe compares to another specific shoe, he should be able to say something along the lines of which one is more popular or known to be more durable, or what the features of each shoe are. This man would tell me nothing. Just he could not guarantee anything. I'm kind of at the point where I would have taken him saying something like this shoe looks better in blue than that one. In the past, again I have had really good service there. I had never seen this guy there before and I never will again. I was mortified at his unwillingness to do anything to try and help me. All of his responses were just outright rude and unhelpful. He needs a serious attitude adjustment and this business needs to rethink who and how they hire to represent their business. read more

They know their business - period. My son insisted he was a size 15W... the owner said maybe so but bring him in.... sneaker widths don't convert similarly to shoe sizing. And - he was dead-on correct. Found a wonderful black leather lace shoe at an extremely reasonable price for $50 - 14W. This is NOT easy to do at most stores - try it yourself. Many stores stop at 13.... so keep this in mind when seeking a larger size, high quality shoe/boot... lots of wool socks to help wick moisture... work gloves, jeans, coats.... Didn't even visit the nursing side with scrubs and Dansko clogs galore. Wonderful store. read more

I stopped shopping here a long time ago. Customer service is lacking. Had issues with two items purchased at two different times. Didn't like the way I or my wife was treated when exchanging, not returning, the defective items. I will travel out of my way or order online before ever giving them my business again. I have been getting my uniforms from High Country Workwear for many years. Although they are not as big as work n gear, they have a much better variety and better prices for Nursing uniforms. Also, the owners are very helpful. If you find something in any catalog that you cannot find anywhere, they can get it for you. read more

I had no problem with the owner and staff, I got a pair of Timberland boots, had to exchange them when I found it defective they exchanged it with no problem. Also gave me $10 off because I was a new customer. They got lots of goods that what I need, I found work n gear a bit more pricey (pair of timberlands not my size 11.5 wide) over the price I paid for with this store. read more

They close at eight on Thursday nights I walked in at 7:50 had to beg the guy to let me look around the store now mind you I'm dealing with the owner. also I'm ready to spend $300 on a pair workboots and grab a couple pair of Carhart khakis. He told me fine I'll give you two minutes I couldn't believe myself. He did not want my business all he wanted to do was lock his door and go home okay well you don't close till eight and it is 750. I will never never shop there again this is not the first complaint I have heard about the awful customer service. read more

Yes, I will not deny that they do in fact have a decent variety but seriously. For a place that supposedly has "every type of boot" they have NONE of the brands that i personally trust (Matterhorn, Bates) yet they say they have every boot there! The old guy that works there talks to you like you're a pile of dog crap and constantly insults your intelligence! Yea it was my first time shopping there and i was looking at a pair of boots and the guy came around and said all this stuff about how he can tell that i never shopped there before because i was not asking him for help and recommendations. And when he DID recommend a pair of boots, he gave me a style of boots that i don't even like (work style) and i prefer tactical/combat boots. i left there annoyed and ended up not purchasing a pair of boots at all. read more

I went in looking for boots and couldn't find any my size, didn't like the service the first time there. Went back again and got someone who really did help me, taught me few things too. Ordered some clothes to check sizes, didn't fit but that was no problem. They called supplier and got details of availability of sizes and lengths. With that information they ordered another size, not the size I would expect but it fit. Been very happy with quality of product. Price has been reasonable. stopped in about a month ago looking for side zip station boots, walked in and no one was around. found a pair that interested me so I tried them on, all of a sudden the old guy (with the attitude) steps out from the end of the isle and says " there used to be a sign up front that said we are a do not help yourself store but we took it down because we thought everyone knew that" then I get " the boots you have on maybe a customers" he startled me then disrespected me with his callous attitude, spent lots of money here in the past, not anymore, I'm a 56 year old veteran and treat everyone with respect, if your looking for respect, don't shop at High Country workwear, I won't be anytime soon. read more

I went here with my boyfriend to look for a special work boot he needed. The minute we walked in we were attacked by a sales person, I went to look at the section with the scrubs and again was attacked by another salesperson. It wasn't a comfortable shopping experience and they didn't have what we needed and were told to try elsewhere. Well elsewhere didn't even exist. They do have a great selection of dansko clogs, but will not give them my business. read more
