I made quite a detour to stop by here and I'm super glad I did! Very cute co-op with tons of vegan and gluten-free options for prepared food. I was especially intrigued by the vegan knishes! Despite being a co-op it is open to everyone. (I believe they have a percent discount for members.) I ended up spending about $40 for a large haul of local snacks and fresh local seasonal produce. They also have a huge bulk section. Prices are reasonable, I would say in between a normal grocery store and your typical organic specialty grocery store. The employees were friendly! read more

Love this place, always have. I come here mostly to have lunch or breakfast. They always have delicious, hot vegetarian soups. If you're from the area then you know... coming here is a social experience. The people that work here really care. Lots of healthy prepared foods. Vegan and vegetarian sandwiches... And the coffee is always outstanding. Produce is very good quality here. Prices on food are a little high but then again they are a small store without a ton of buying power. This is the real deal. They get as much as they possibly can from local farmers. To compare them to Mother Earth or other chains is ridiculous!. Most of the time there deals are better than the local big health food and if not you are supporting a local business. Most of the help is nice but keep in mind some are also volunteering for discounts so may not be the most knowledgable. If you need info ask for a manager. Stopped in for a visit while staying in High Falls fly the weekend. This place is great - so many healthy options and items you would have trouble finding in a regular grocery store (grass-fed beef, local dairy, etc). They have a good selection of produce, coffee beans, oils and syrups on tap, and a section for natural hygiene products - I bought some big spray. The girl at the register was a little odd, although helpful when I needed help finding something. She just stared at us while I bagged my own groceries. Oh, I simply adore the co-op! Great people working there and absolutely delicious food being offered for sale, from the freshly made baked goods to the prepared foods made in-house along with all the local food items from purveyors in the area, such as eggs, cheese, meats, cold cuts, herbs, spices. The bulk food is plentiful with tons of great choices and the pricing is reasonable for mostly organic and local food. I buy many items here and am so thankful I live so close. Hudson Valley is a terrific place to live and HFCO is one of the many reasons why. read more

A small but nice little place to stock up on health food, vegan food, and organic produce. They may not have as big a selection as some, or be as cheap as a chain grocery store, but they do have a pretty good representation of everything, from bulk foods and vitamins to premade food and specialty items. stumbled upon this place and walked in. its a plus that you don't have to be a member to shop there. Some things are WAY overpriced, but you have to know how to shop. Their produce is very fresh and reasonably priced. They also had basil when all the other stores around the area didn't, which is a plus. I wish I could give them 5 stars. Sadly I have to recommend that people shop at the privately owned health food store in Kingston. Someone close and dear to me worked at The High Falls Co-op for years and then financially supported them giving them quite a large donation (multi-thousand dollar). She became disabled (but able to work) and the management wouldn't even consider hiring her. She was deeply hurt and I feel terrible for her after her years of loyalty and material support. The owners of the Kingston health food store (they also own a store in Saugerties and in Poughkeepsie i think) are much kinder in their employment practices and are to be commended for it. read more

I live right down the road from this store. I can honestly say that I hate going into it. I try not to. But sometimes I need raw sunflower seeds or something of that nature. The girls that work there never smile of say hello. Which I say hello on my way in the door because they are standing behind the counter and I have been taught to say hello opon entering a room with other people inside It! Oh and I smile as I say it make eye contact ect... there is no response from them (one boy who worked there did say hello back when I said that to him i have only seen him once)... Which I find to be rude and insulting as someone who doesn't shop there and isn't shown a welcome why would I go back regularly... because it is more convenient to shop at them Emanuel's... but Emanuel's treats me better so i go there and when they run out of sunflower seeds I have to go here if I can't wait for Emanuel's delivery to come in. read more
