Adorable specialty market with lots of local items mixed with other well marketed organic brands. Good place for eggs and local meat. Found a nice cream made with natural ingredients. Would recommend going to a cheese farm to try what you like rather than here but you can get wine and salami here as well. You would have to know your prices to see what's worth getting. These guys are fast talking classic bait and switch rip off artist. I'm glad i stopped by with a real rib eye to show them what one looked like. 20 ribeys for $40 bucks. They claim 5lbs, i highly doubt it, but even at that its still $8 bucks a lb. My local grocery store has rib eye on sale numerous times a year for $6/lb. This area really needs a Market Basket to bring some competition. Things are 30 to 50% more here. For example, Little Leaf lettuce is $2.99 at MB, $2.50 on sale, but $3.99 here. I was willing to pay for prepared foods as I was traveling, but everything vegan in their deli and pastry area also had likely GMO ingredients (corn, soy or sugar not specified as cane sugar or beet sugar). So I waited two hours until I got home and ate then because I wasn't going to be ripped off. read more

Look, if you want something really local and organic, then theres plenty of options here. But, their ready made food selection (sandwich, salads, etc) is not that great. High prices, smallish portions, limited variety of selections. A bonus is that they typically have a vegan option. Other products in the store are higher than average cost, which might not bother some people. But the customer service can be really bad, depends on the person. I have multiple negative interactions with one employee who seemed to be bothered by reasonable questions/inquiries. pastries are a hit or miss, some are really dry, others are delicious, but for the price of each its a gamble. read more

I will start with the good stuff. I support local businesses. It is open, airy, and friendly. Walk in the door and somebody says hello to you. Lots of local products. The food looks fresh and the selection is the best north of Guido's and Berkshire Organics in Pittsfield. The big problem is that Wild Oats prices are ridiculously high. I expect a slightly higher price and would gladly pay it for a local company with local food. But, these prices are so high that I avoid the store. Let me give you an example using a non local product. I like the Talenti brand of gelato and sorbetto. At Price Chopper in Pittsfield, a container costs $4.99. At Hannaford in Bennington, about 20 minutes away, it costs $3.99. At Wild Oats, the exact same item is $5.99. really? read more

Overpriced and their customer service is severely lacking. I asked if they had ice- the person at the register said they had no idea and made no effort to find out even though the manager was standing right behind her. So I asked another employee and she directed me to a specific aisle. No one offered to go look for me so I went and searched the entire section. When I went back to the register I told the employee I couldn't find ice and she snapped at me "Then we don't have any!" For the prices ($10 for a jar of pickles!) they should be a little nicer to their customers. Today, a national holiday, Nancy called at 7:18 in the morning to respond to the message that I left yesterday. We were so happy to find a quality market near our VRB. Great selection! We really enjoyed our grilled red trout and portobellos.

It's nice to be able to support locally grown organic food and they have a great selection of natural products. I don't mind paying a little bit extra either. The people are not very pleasant at all if they don't know you. They can be perfectly pleasant and talkative to the person front of you and completely rude to the next. My wife and I go in several times, so it's not like we go here and there and they are consistently grumpy every time we check out. We often have to bag our own groceries while the cashier looks at us like, "oh you want me to do that?" Well yeah, if we are going to pay $300 dollars for eggs, I wan't YOU to put it in a bag. Maybe it's because we aren't owners/members, who knows. Nothing like trying to get more members/owners by being rude to them. Anyway, I like the idea of the place, just not the people. read more

Food co-ops rock my world, and a quick stop at Wild Oats for sandwich fixings on a recent visit to Williamstown didn't disappoint! Decent cheese selection, friendly employees, a clean, uncrowded store, and attractively arranged produce made shopping at Wild Oats a pleasant experience. Prices were typical of natural food co-ops, and they run the national co+op deals sales, which are usually really good sales. No surcharge for non-members nor discount for members. read more

I love this place. Small (but nice) selection of locally grown produce, local cheeses, and meat, as well as a nice selection of groceries. A lot of organic and vegan products here. Their baked good are amazing. Love the bread and the croissants are pretty great as well. I've had lunch from their hot bar once and it was pretty good and reasonably priced. The groceries overall, however, are way overpriced. I used to live in NYC, and this place is definitely a bit more expensive than what you'd find in Manhattan. This shocked me, being that this store is in the Berkshires and most things around here are on the cheap/reasonable side. But there are a lot more specialty products here that you likely won't find at the Stop & Shop or Big Y...so I guess it's a tradeoff. Also, it's nice supporting local businesses and farms. Definitely come in for the selection of local cheeses, the fresh baked goods, and the surprisingly decent (albeit small) selection of wine. I hear their soups are stellar, too. read more

There are plenty of good options, I love the fresh salad case (even though the garden salad with beets was overrun with beet juice). The checkout people ARE grumpy, I don't know what their deal is. We were on a long motorcycle trip up to Mt Greylock and decided to stay in town, saw this place and rolled up 10 mins before they closed. They were still nice and helpful and cheerful. Much appreciated. They had all the vegan supplies I was looking for and then some. (Just had some of the Korean Nori snacks on the side of the road overlooking the water). A small co-op 'healthy' type food store. Even though the store looks small from the outside, they do a good job of packing a lot into the space they have. The produce, while not super abundant in quantity, had a wide range of fruits and veggies, many of them labeled 'local'. A nice touch is that almost everything that was 'local' had the name and location of the farm that it came from. I did notice that the price on some goods was a high, even for a co-op. The laundry detergent that I use was several dollars more at Wild Oats compared to my local co-op. Some of the other reviews for 'Wild Oats' indicate that the staff was rude/unfriendly to them. While I've only been in this store once, the staff that I encountered were professional, but also friendly. One clerk stopped and asked if I needed assistance finding anything; the clerk at the check out was also very friendly. If I lived closer, I might use this co-op more often, but my local one, while not quite as diverse in its offerings is only a few minute drive and a little less expensive. read more

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one. After reading the other reviews. We found Wild Oats after a great day of hiking at Mt. Greylock this past fall, and were looking for some light, late good food. Wow, so over priced, the staff was indeed grumpy, we felt like were intruding. Very tiny store, that I can deal with. No real help from the staff with our questions. The bulk section was decent and the store made Tuna salad was very good. But we have not been back. We would if we had no other options. There are too many other great, friendly, welcoming food coops. But I will add that we enjoyed the dining area. Sunny and open. read more

Love their lunch/dinner...a great place for a good meal if you do not have time to cook. We try and go once a week...Taco Tuesday is my daughter favorite. Came in after a swim for a quick lunch. I can chicken and couscous soup 8oz for $2.49 which was delish with a plain bagel for 99cents. A must is there cheddar bay biscuits in my option it was the best I've ever had even complimented the chef. Free samples were given out of cheese and pb and j on some amazing flax seed bread. Customer service was amazing. When visiting again I will stop in. They have the best wifi in town. read more

Wild Oats has a few grumpy people there, but they are nonetheless helpful (in my experience), and are all dedicated to providing north county with delicious, local and eco-friendly foods at prices that are as low as possible. The best part about about Wild Oats is that they have over 2,000 local products. I used to visit Wild Oats every week in after riding up Mt. Greylock with my bike club. I don't plan on visiting Wild Oats again for two reasons. One problem is that the prices are very high but it was worth to paying a little extra to buy my favorite Wild Oats exclusive products. My favorite product from Wild Oats was the smoked tempeh Ruben. I even tried to to recreate it at home but it wasn't nearly as good as the sandwich I bought from Wild Oats. This year it seems like Wild Oats is no longer selling the tempeh Reuben. Usually if the tempeh Reuben was sold out I would buy this wrap that was called something like "the sunflower wrap" but I think they have stopped selling this sandwich too. This means Wild Oats has ZERO vegetarian sandwiches and one vegetarian egg wrap that doesn't sound good to me. I'll give Wild Oats a better rating if they add more vegetarian options, and especially they bring back my beloved tempeh Reuben. read more

I really enjoy this co-op. Any time I find a co-op I go in, take a look around, and talk to the people there. Everyone I encounter here is pleasant or friendly. There is a happy relaxed energy here. The food bar is a bit smaller than most of the co-ops I have been too but the food is tasty and fresh. If your looking for a baked good that isn't full of nasty stuff pick one up here! They are super delicious and the perfect size to share with someone. The prices are spot on for a co-op in this region of the states. Remember you get what you pay for, if you want cheap food then you need to either, make everything from scratch or buy the science experiments they call food at another store. If you choose to make things from scratch this place can provide you with everything you need! I give it four stars because there was not any local dairy in glass bottles. I prefer to not buy milk and cream in plastic bottles. read more

Pretty good for a vegan in the Berkshires! Some soups, some salads, a bunch of sweets (fresh cookies, a "cream cheese" brownie, a slice of pie) and then more stuff if you are lucky enough to be here with a kitchen (my hotel only had a mini-bar) there is some local seitan. They also sold a brand of California wine called "Vegan Vines" that I hadn't seen before, so that was exciting. we will be coming back in the AM to get something to take on a day hike for lunch! read more

If you are looking for organic selections they have a lot. Great veggies and fruits. They even carry DeLand Bakery Bread in the frozen section! This was where I had my found new addiction to Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss Bars and they have excellent soups. I only wish you would filter your coffee water as it is very strong with chlorine. Other than that, these are nice people, always smiling, love joking around and being friendly. Their presence got us through some tough times in our own personal life when we stayed in the area. It's a nice store. I don't buy too many groceries there because it IS so expensive, but for local milk, great imported products, cheese and spices by the ounce, it's great. Also beer and wine, which is convenient. I don't think the staff is any more grumpy than the rest of New England. Yes, prices here can be high -- think a tiny Whole Foods. However, it's a great spot for lunch (their Asian noodles are great, as are all of the soups). We also love the super local produce in season (which the closest chain supermarket does not carry), the artisan breads brought in from area bakeries, and the bulk foods. Would I do my weekly shopping here? No. However, they do a great job bringing interesting, natural foods to the area, and I'd be lost without them. Also, I have no idea why past reviewers had a negative experience there, but the reviews are quite old. The crop of staffers there now are nothing but helpful and friendly. I visit here at least once a week. The one star off is because they have yet to figure out a way to offer a fresh seafood/meat counter. read more

I'm so glad that others agree. This place is, simply, awful. It is ridiculously overpriced, and the staff are grumpy and unaccomodating. All three major grocery stores in the area have great selections of both organic and locally-grown produce. I don't know how they do their buying, but they're seriously out of touch with what's available elswhere. The only reason to shop here is for the bulk grains/nuts/dried fruits section, and for their "basic goods" selections, where a selection of certain staples are always on sale. But that's it. Staff at the big nasty chain stores are much friendlier and open to suggestions. And you can get everything that's sold at Wild Oats at those places, so why bother with Wild Oats? It's outlived it's usefulness. read more
