We went here for our friends 40th birthday. The live music was jamming and the drinks flowing. The steak tacos were flavorful but the salsa made the tortillas a bit soggy. The elote was sort of bland and we felt needed salt. Service was pretty slow but you had the option to order via a QR code or go directly to the bar. read more

We stopped into High-Hand Brewing Co. and were impressed right away! The space has such a great vibe, it used to be a fruit packing plant, and they've kept the rustic wood and exposed beams, which makes you feel like you're walking through history into a really refined brewery setting. We ordered a flight, and each beer had its own personality. We started with a couple light and refreshing picks, perfect for summer, then moved into a few with more punch and depth. The Hef was a standout, and the Peach Blonde was something new and exciting to try. Loved that the flight came on a custom tray with little card suit cutouts, such a fun detail! The staff was welcoming and quick to get us settled, and the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between relaxed and lively. With live music out front and the warm, inviting feel inside, it's the kind of place you can easily spend a few hours. Hadn't been there before but glad I decided to check it out.. First, it's huge, but gets crowded fast. We wanted to sit by the band ( live music , not sure which days , we went on Friday). Luckily we found a tall table that had the end 4 seats open. We ordered drinks.. They came fast. Then we ordered food.. By then the place was packed so we knew it would take awhile.. This was at 5:30.. My friend who had gone twice before said we needed to get there by 5, and she was right.. . We heard the band was a cover band doing Lynyrd Skynyrd.. They started around 6:30, the place was packed by then.. Our food arrived, it looked delicious and was! Fish tacos, burgers, tons of fries, pizza.. we all had more than plenty to eat and drink.. We loved the music, it was 60's, 70's and a few 80's.. we were so full by 8:00 we decided to go and let 4 people who just arrived have our seats.. That's when the band switched to Skynyrd songs but the guys had been enjoying the brewery a little too much, so we said Next time. We had so much fun singing along with the band, I will definitely go again !! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at High Hand Brewery, specifically because of my interactions with a staff member named Steven. He was extremely unprofessional and rude, and his behavior toward customers showed a serious lack of basic social awareness. At one point, Steven was standing outside the door on his phone with his hand on the door. A customer approached the entrance, and instead of simply opening the door or acknowledging them, he made the situation unnecessarily awkward and then just walked away. It was a very strange interaction to witness from someone working in a customer-facing position. He also repeatedly stood directly in the way while I was trying to video the band, which was actually amazing and one of the highlights of the night. This happened more than once, and I also noticed him doing the same thing to other customers, not just me. It was frustrating and felt completely unnecessary, especially when people were simply trying to enjoy and capture the performance. Overall, his demeanor made the environment feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Basic courtesy, awareness of your surroundings, and professionalism should be expected from someone interacting with customers. Unfortunately, Steven displayed none of those things during my experience. The band was fantastic, but the customer service from Steven seriously took away from what otherwise could have been a great experience. I hope management addresses this because customers deserve to feel welcome and respected. read more

My college buddies and I went here for our little reunion and we loved the beautiful decor that contributed to a fun and vibrant ambiance. There was live music playing while we were there from 2-3 pm on a Saturday which was a cool surprise. The beer was tasty and the bartenders were very kind and helpful. They even allowed us to sample a few drinks. Overall, it was such a great experience! i cannot wait to go back. read more

wow, I never knew this place was part of the High Hand cafe. Beautiful scenery and a fun place to go see live music in the evenings. It's gets very packed so make sure to get there early. TLDR: Guest Safety is not prioritized. My brother, who is disabled, used to attend shows here. I was just informed by his care home staff that their staff member who was with him (he requires 24-hr one-to-one care) was overpowered and kissed by two drunk men at once while tending to my brother. She was shocked, in tears, and terrified. Obviously my brother's home staff will not be returning and unfortunately neither will we. It's incredibly hard to find venues that have live music and also wheelchair accessible spaces. This was one, but that kind of environment is frankly just unsafe for anyone, especially someone actively on the clock tending to a high-medical-needs individual. read more

We went to see a very popular local band (Southbound) today 2-5pm High hand is a great venue to see live music and in the past things have been well run. Not so much today. Arrived at 1245 so to ensure we got a seat. Place was starting to fill up. Bar was packed with 1 yes 1 bartender with a line building steadily. As showtime approached the rumor was they were going to open their satellite bar thus having 2 places to order food-get a drink etc. also heard that cocktail servers were on the way. Show starts no 2nd bar or servers staffed. Line at the bar was similar to a TSA line at Denver International on a heavy day. Looking around the seating area revealed tons of folks taking advantage of the FREE water as they were thirsty from dancing or chopping it up with their friends. What you didn't see was a purchased drink in everyone's hands as the level of demand far out weighed the level of service. Today was like winning a giant hand of Texas hold 'em in Vegas then only taking 45% off the table. Lots of opportunities with poor net results. It's as if they didn't want to make as much as they could. Great venues close when mismanaged. read more

We went into High-Hand on the evening of 20 DEC & it was PACKED!!!! The line at the bars went to the exterior doors. We got lucky & got seats around the high top in the center of the brewery where we watched the staff show so much hustle to meet peoples needs. The servers were weaving in & out of small groups to deliver drinks & take more orders.....then we had KAYLA come to us as our server. KAYLA was AWESOME!!!! They did a great job creating a nouveau rustic ambiance. The food has always been really good, we especially like the peach salad and shrimp tacos. Beers are also solid. I usually order the West Coast IPA - it's well balanced. On the weekends, the line to order at the bar can get long and you might have to wait a bit for your food. If it's busy, parking on the street can be difficult. However, there is a lot of extra parking in the back parking lot. On Fridays and the weekends, there is live music in the adjoining room. The bands that come through have been good to great - mostly classic tribute type bands. All in all, a nice place to hang out, enjoy some music and good food. read more

Bougie and pricey but good food. Main complaint is that we had a party of 8 and they only gave a military discount to one person, not the whole bill. We actually had two in the military but they didn't tell us it was only on one person or we would have shown more IDs. So we only saved 1% on the bill! Everyone is friendly. It can be busy, but don't worry they are handling it. Dining area is much quieter than the live music area, but that's to be expected. Also on the busy nights you might have to "find" parking g down the road, but it's worth the walk, even in the rain! On a day date with hubby on a Sunday I was so excited to finally have breakfast at High Hand Cafe . We literally spent all afternoon here after breakfast we walked around so much to see . We ended up at High Hand Brewery which is connected to High Hand Cafe . It's a new Brewery the decor is super rustic and cute . I could tell they really took their time on every detail of the decor . They have an area before entering the brewery which is for bands to perform on the weekends a big area with a lot of seating . The day we went they had someone performing but not a band it was very nice and chill music we enjoyed it . Nick and Erin were so friendly and helpful at the counter when we got our beers and drinks . I hope I'm spelling her name correctly (Erin) wonderful people. I ended up getting a Hazy IPA it was very good and I'm picky with my beers lol . They also have a cocktail menu my hubby got a margarita he really enjoyed it . They have a nice water station to stay hydrated . The bar area have this very cool Digital board that moves its very cool ! I never seen anything like it . They have really good food options we got the homemade Potato Chips with lemon marinaded artichoke dip. So good ! We just wanted a snack still full from breakfast. Not a beer person but the cocktails I had were good. The area is very nice too we saw a bridal party setting up and it looked very cute. I'd recommend this for venues and if you just wanted to hangout with friends. The service was good, you order before sitting there's not really much service in that. It's extremely frustrating that you cannot order food in the brewery until 3:00. This decision has been made without the paying customer in mind. Forcing brewery customers to pay online and wait a long time for simple items to be ready is shameful. Not having all beers on tap in the main brewery is also a shortfall. The food is good, which is why the 3 stars. As far as the service, they are always understaffed at the bar causing long wait times to order drinks. Understand your customers. Update: went to coffee shop to pick up food. Inquired how process worked and was advised I would receive a text when my order was ready. I have never been to a less kid-friendly establishment in all of Placer County--or, frankly, anywhere I've traveled. If your idea of a pleasant evening includes live music, dinner, drinks, and being told to remove your children as though they're a public nuisance, then congratulations: this is the place for you. High Hand's policy of restricting the dance area to 18+ is baffling on its own, but what makes it truly absurd is the context. This is a brewery and restaurant--an industry that, nearly everywhere else (especially in Placer County), actively welcomes families. Most breweries I've visited go out of their way to accommodate kids (and dogs), offering games, playgrounds, snacks, and space to relax. Here, the solution is simple: send the children outside. Here's what actually happened. On December 18th, just days before Christmas, after watching our four-year-old sing his heart out in a preschool Christmas performance at the Blue Goose Event Center, two families decided to grab dinner and a drink at High Hand around 5:00 p.m. Festive lights, dinner, and live music warming up--it seemed like the perfect way to end the evening. Our kids, understandably captivated by the music, began dancing. The band itself encouraged them, handing out stickers and candy and promising more if they danced. Several other families--who we did not know--were seated nearby with young children as well, clearly with the same idea. These families made up a significant portion of the patrons in the band area, which was far from crowded. Everyone was enjoying themselves. Everyone, apparently, except one older couple. After our children ran past their table, the woman looked directly at me and said, "Ew, are those your kids?"--with a look of open disgust that said far more than the words. About twenty minutes later, a manager arrived to inform us that this was an 18+ area and that we could "take the kids outside" to the garden center--the so-called kid-friendly area. At 6:00 p.m. In December. In 50-degree weather. Had this been late at night with a predominantly adult crowd, that request might have made some sense. But this was prime family dinner hour. Anyone with kids knows we would have been leaving soon anyway due to early bedtimes--but instead, we were told to leave immediately. So six families--grandparents, parents, and children--who had no prior connection to one another paid their tabs and left. None of us will be returning. To add insult to injury, the food itself is mediocre at best. But that's almost beside the point. A single policy that treats children as an inconvenience rather than guests is enough to sour the entire establishment. We won't support any part of this business again, and judging by how many families walked out that evening, we won't be the only ones. For those looking for an actually welcoming brewery experience in the area, I highly recommend Fowler Ranch, Goathouse, Hilenbrand, Dueling Dogs--honestly, almost any other local brewery. High-Hand Brewing is a neat addition to the already popular High-Hand complex which includes the cafe and nursery among other businesses and this piece stands on it's own. The interior is a tasteful modern farmhouse with a good amount of room for seating and separate areas that look ready to accommodate parties. They offer walk-up bar service and servers moving around around the room to distribute their variety of beers. They had a good offering of good tasting beverages for sure. The Saturday evening I visited they had a local folk artist playing live and that really started bringing in the crowd so come early for dinner and secure your spot for the evening entertainment! read more
