I went to this nail bar with my friend yesterday, and im not sure if i like it. At first, i noticed that the person doing my friends' nail's was so sweet, so i had nothing to worry about, until the lady doing my nails came. As she started to do my nails, she would pull my hand aggressively, and as she was cutting my nails down to size, the lady hadn't even asked me for how long i wanted my nail to be - she just cut my nail off; they were waaay shorter than i wanted them. The lady then proceeded to shape my nails into a sharp triangle, but that was not even close to what i wanted, but I didn't want to upset the lady. When she moved on to the nail polish, the lady chose colors for me with out even asking for my opinion on them. The white french tips were okay, a few were lopsided though. The pink, on the other hand, was absolutely atrocious. The final result was not was I was hoping for, and I do not recommend this nail bar. (P.S. when I came to pay, the lady up front said that they charge extra for using debit, and took a tip for herself!) read more

First time at this salon and I loved it! The place is so big but also so cozy at the same time. :) They have two big TVs and countless colour choices. I am so indecisive and when I finally chose my manicure colour I changed my mind last minute and showed them the colour I was looking for from a picture on my phone. They found it right away and were so kind about it. I believe "Vickie" was the girl who did my nails. I interacted with 3 women though and each one was kind, patient and smiling. Update: I've been here about 10 times.. today was not a good experience. I got a pedicure and the water was cold while my foot was "soaking"... she didn't use the tool to scrap under my foot, just the hard sponge, and did it very quick, so I figured my feet didn't need it. When I got home and looked under my feet, she didn't even do enough to get the darkness from wearing flip flops on my heels off never mind the rougher skin. I get she probably does a lot of them a day; but I'm a new mom and was super pumped to get out for 30 mins. read more

Terrible experience getting my eyebrows waxed yesterday. At the time I experienced mild discomfort, but we all know waxing isn't for pussies. So I paid and left. Upon returning home, I notice SKIN MISSING from my eyelids. The next morning, I look like I got punched in the eye from the scabbing. I go to complain, not only didn't I get a full refund, but the woman responsible accused me of causing it myself with beauty products, like this was some sort of allergic reaction!?!? Despite the great work that some technicians do at this salon, the owner is disrespectful, dismissive and has absolutely no sense of customer service. She made two booking errors and not once apologized for her mistakes. It's not easy to get away for an appointment with a young baby, so when you show up and are being told that you have to wait for an hour, and at the next appointment, she books you in with the wrong person, at the minimum you would expect a sincere apology. Instead, however, you are treated with the utmost disregard. The salon survived on the backs of some great technicians, but without them, this owner has no chance. She lacks simple human decency, and should not be in the business of dealing with people. read more

Yay, went here today with my best friend. We both got a normal pedicure and a french tip shellac manicure. Honestly, it was the best looking french I've ever had in my life. Everyone there's really nice and take care of you. The chairs are decked out with iPads and they offer you tea/water. The pricing is super affordable, better than most places I've been to. Definitely coming back here with the bff and probably my mom again! EDIT = Forgot to add, I have sensitive toe nails so I don't like it when people are so aggressive with my cuticles. Came here last night at around 7:00 PM, after sleuthing Yelp for a good nail salon in my vicinity. Noticed this had amazing reviews, unfortunately I didn't read the part about cash only until I was at the door. Luckily, they ALSO take Debit -so I was good. So, FYI everyone, cash or debit. The cost: Now the great part is that I was able to get shellac mani for 25$ (I uploaded a pic of my fabulous nails in case you want to see) + tax + tip = 32$. If you're paying debit - choose the Cash Back option for the tip, and then proceed with the payment as you would any other purchased (nails + tax). I think they said shellac mani + regular pedi = 45$ (but I would double check if I was you) The work: The nail technician didn't speak much English but he was polite. He worked very meticulously on my nails to make sure they were perfect. This makes me very happy. There was some sort of bubble/spec of buffed nail in my middle finger nail, and I kept on eyeing it because he seemed to continue to work and pick at it with one of his tools. I was skeptical of the result, and didn't want him to think I didn't notice, and leave it there. I mentioned it to the lady beside him, since he didn't understand what I was saying, and he seemed to nod that he was going to take care of it. Take care of it he did, he repainted the nail and picked at it until it was unnoticeable - I thought he was going to have to start over, but nope... he made that bubble disappear, I am still in awe. The place is clean, it has a good layout, a TV to distract you so you don't have to stare lovingly in your nail tech's eyes or try to turn pages of a magazine with your manicured hands. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but living just down the street, I see a lot of people come and go and thought I would give it a try. Prices are really affordable. $20 for pedi, $10 for mani - where they can easily charge double for what they provide. The back wall is lined with MASSAGE CHAIRS and love the IPAD they give you to play with, with free wifi - he offered me DAVID'S TEA as well. My pedi was nice, the usual soak, file down, moisturize - there wasn't a lot of massage, but I think depends on the person. Also, I wanted a Scrub which was an extra $5. Then colour, followed by quick dry if you ask for it. The colour application wasn't perfect, there were small defects on my skin, I could have done better, but good enough. It was nice that while I was waiting for it to dry, lots of staff wandering around, making sure I was comfy, checking my toes and telling me to relax. It wasn't the type of place they just leave you there. There are also toe dryers and nail dryers. Huge range of OPI colours, with the most recent collection. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love me a good manicure! I'm a girly girl. I firmly believe pampering is therapeutic. Seriously though. I'm fluent in OPI nail polishes. It's quite a feat for me to find a place I actually enjoy going too. I always notice nice nails and girls are always willing to share/brag/divulge unless they are mean. High Park Nails was one of the recommendations I got from someone. It's a little bit out of the way because it's smack dab in the middle of Dundas West between Keele and Runnymeede. But totally worth it. Trust me. $25 shellac manicure? Unheard of!!! Its usually $30-35 or even $45-65 at other places. This location is huge and if you go on peak periods they will get you in as soon as possible and out in a jiffy. They are efficient and skilled for the most part. Only once was I not completely satisfied with my manicure, but only because I can really notice the little things. I brought a friend here and her mani/pedi was actually flawless. Anywhere you go, you can get a less stellar tech, it happens. Anyways, it's clean here. They have iPads at the pedi chairs to use, a giant TV usually playing something enticing. They also have a great selection of polishes both regular and gel and they overall do a great job. Peak periods would be the summer and on the weekends. Worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon, left in tears. I've been going to High Park Nails and Spa for a few months now, after my experience today I will never go back. I had a bit of gel that needed to be smoothed out before putting Shellac back on top of it (to let the gel grow out naturally). A woman by the name of 'Nancy' (as it said on her blue uniform coat) put large cuts into my nails with one of the electric sanders. Although the store paid for my shellac manicure I was left with cuts on my nails that are still hurting 12+ hours after. I am not sure if an infection will develop after I put shellac over top of these cuts (which they recommended) and told me that if I do that I can't come back and complain about the cuts being sore or about infections. The worst part is the woman tried to blame me, saying that "my nails were too thin". Would strongly recommend to STAY AWAY. read more

Don't even bother coming to this nail salon. The owner is ridiculously cheap and would rather argue with you then fix the issue. I got shellac done here, and a week later they started chipping. I told the owner and he told me he was going to charge me $15 to correct the problem which was created by poor service. I've never ever been charged to have them fixed before. I said I wasn't going to suggest this place, create a review, and never come again and he said "you do whatever you like, doesn't matter to me"... talk about arrogant. I went here today (12/22) for eyebrow threading which has never taken more than ten mins for me. The lady at the front told me they were busy. I asked when should I come back or I can wait if she can see me in between clients . She said " Saturday ??". I looked at her and repeated myself again " I can come back in an hour or so or just wait here if she can fit me in, it's just threading " and she said no too busy. I understand 1. My ten dollar brow threading isn't worth your persons time when you have other clients but if it's not a priority just because it's a cheaper service don't offer it 2. It takes less than ten mins! Been in Toronto for 3 years now, having my nails done in many salons, I keep coming back to visit Victor and his crew because they've grown up to be my favourite place. Every time I go there they recognize me before I come in, when I'm still parking my bike, I'm a special person, and I've seen them doing this to so many customers - they KNOW how to treat customers! They're awesome people. Their nail polish (regular & gel) selection is now the biggest I've seen, and the staff will help you choose matching colours, sparkles, everything you need. Exfoliation and paraffin is fantastic, I can't recommend enough. And Victor, the owner, always serves you complimentary David's Tea - he has great taste! I love this place. I was at this place on Tues, July 16, 2013 and WOW! I have not had this good of pedicure for sooooooooooooo long. I have tried so many pedicure/manicure places but this is the only place where the price was really good and the service even better!....They did a GREAT JOB for my over walked, overused feet. If you go there, ask for Henry and get the pedicure and add the exfoliate extra and the hot wax for all $30!!!! Most places, I find they only focus on the nails and the nail polish. One of the worst manicures I have ever gotten. I get my nails a significant length and they decided to file them down beliw the tops of my fingers. Not sure why they thought that would be a good idea. When I complained and let them know I was very unhappy they decided to speak in Vietnamese about how my nails were already short. 1. Hello All, This is a beautiful, modern nail spa. It is very clean and fresh. My french pedicure was expertly applied. It's been 2 weeks and it still looks great. My only issue was with the lack of communication between my manicurist and me. I went in with an Axxiom manicure on and after soaking for 15 minutes, it did not come off. Instead on talking to me and telling me what the issue was, she just grabbed the grinder and started sanding the old gel off. I would have liked to have been asked as my natural nails are now damaged from the sanding. I have since done some research on how to correctly remove the Axxiom, and the tech should have lightly filed the surface of each nail to break the seal, then soaked. Oh well, hind site and all. I will return to the salon though. I will just make sure I keep an eye on what's going on and stop and ask if I see something I don't agree with. read more

Finally, a nail salon that has it all: quick and friendly service, a clean environment, very fair prices, and a lovely ambiance (including fountains and a bright open space). On top of that, every chair has its own iPad for free online browsing! This is something else. Women must be flocking here. High Park Nails is a serious GEM. The place seems reasonably clean and offers complimentary tea and water at the outset. Other nice touches include the fact that the pedicure chairs are also electronic massage chairs with I pads at each one. I showed up without an appointment. They had space, so I was attended to immediately. Everyone was friendly. My pedicure went flawlessly, but, perhaps because I arrived near closing time, my manicure was a bit rushed. Tried this place out despite some pretty poor reviews, and unfortunately I have to agree. I called ahead to confirm prices of a mani and medi ($10+$20) and book an appointment. When I arrived the nail technician began working on my feet while another woman prepped my nails to take off my shellac, for which I was charged an extra $5 for without any warning. The nail technician gave me a very careless foot/leg massage and finished my pedi. She began taking off the shellac on my nails and the shavings went everywhere (on me, the chair and my purse) because she didn't put a towel down. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 starts is because my nails turned out fine but the experience was so lacklustre and it felt like the entire staff would rather be doing literally anything else. I have been here on 2 occasions and like it very much. 1) the staff are very welcoming and friendly and do all they can to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. They even serve davids Tea, which is a nice touch. Nicole did my nails both time and did an amazing job. Shes also super sweet and makes good conversation 2) the prices are very reasonable. I originally made an appointment for 2 but they asked me to come in earlier so I did. I waited 25 minutes. Then I showed a picture of what I wanted and the lady said okay. when she was about to cut the extensions for my acrylic set I asked if she wanted to see the picture, she said no and then but my nails too short. When I told her she told me it's the same when it clearly wasn't. I politely asked her to re do them and she called over 3 other people and began to speak in Vietnamese. She then started to take off the nails but was very rough and then she said wait. I sat there for 45 mins while a different lady finished someone else's nails and then she did mine. They have a good selection of colours, but some duplicated, and some of the more popular OPI colours were missing. I went to High Park Nails and Spa based on reviews read on Yelp and a recommendation by a couple of friends. I was pleased to walk into a very clean establishment and the ladies were very nice. Unfortunately the quality of work was not good at all. I walked out with a choppy nail polish job where my fingers are all different colours, streaky, they have bubbles in them, there's dust from the nail file in my polish and last but not least, it looks like I threw on some polish in a rush and walked out to let them dry. I guess I've been spoiled by my regular nail salon that costs me an extra $5 which I'm happy to pay considering my hands and feet come out of there looking like I just came out of a Yorkville salon. Nicest nail salon in the junction. The pedicure stations are so nice, and I love the iPads at each station. I got a shellac manicure and for some reason two days later it peeled right off on two fingers. I walked in to get it fixed and even tho it was busy they were fixed right away. But for some reason they came out a different colour. I was told there was probably something wrong with the first polish I had picked and to come back on a slow day to be redone. This place is great! I live in Bloor west village but make the trek out there for their fair prices and their attention to detail. They were very friendly, gave me the utmost attention and had a high quality of service. My toes came out looking fantastic and so did my shellac manicure. The iPads and davids tea also help too as it is a clear differentiator from other nail salons - they also speak english! I moved to a new area, and I read all the reviews So I decided to give it a go. I have been there a couple of times as I don't believe that you get the same treatment every time you go b/c I always seem to get someone different and sometimes not everyone has a good day. Honestly, I was uncomfortable each time that I went in. They also try and up sell you on everything and its annoying. Also, the owner the gentleman makes up prices as they ask him. The first time that I visited I got a pedicure and a manicure. the pedicure was ok. the cut my nails to short and not straight, even after my polite requests to do it specific to my feet. I got a shellac Manicure and within a week it was already coming off and chipping. I went back again and same thing a "meh" experience. What prompted me to write this was my last visit on Friday, I went in and wanted just a simple fast manicure. They tried to sell me a Gel Nail set and I said no thanks. The lady that was doing my nail huffed and puffed and was visibily upset with the fact i didn't want it, which then made me uncomfortable sitting there. When someone else came in, she suddenly got up and attended to her without saying anything to me. It doesn't matter who is doing my nails but some communication would be nice. I just sat there while all the other workers played on the ipads or did each others nails. There was a girl in the salon who wasn't a worker but was a family member with a dog, a puppy sitting on her lap. That's fine but they had the dog on the nail counter as well, where they do the nails. I own dogs, I love dogs. But that's its not appropriate at all. I have close family memebers and friends that are allergic. And frankly, i think its digusting. I asked how much the gel nail was they told me 40, another lady came in and asked how much same length was 60. This wasn't the first time i heard different prices for different customers What I DO like is they have ipads on all the pedicure station and its kept kind of cleaner but really I get a better manicure and pedicure from other shops that aren't as pretentious. And last longer. My manicure came off by Sunday and Monday, the entire nail just popped off. I was so upset that I just paid for something that didn't even last3 days - Brutal. I will not go back. Absolutely horrible. If possible I would give 0 stars. This is my first review, but am very seasoned in receiving pedicures as I have had them done for the past 10 years religiously. The nail artist I had was extremely quick, nails were unevenly cut with one side being higher than the other and the edges extremely sharp. With the cleaning tools she dug hard and I felt a sharp pain. I went to another salon on the same day and found that she left a sharp jagged piece of nail at the outer corner of my left large toe that they had to remove and that there was also a cut sustained from digging the cleaning took too aggressively. When requesting shorter nail length she complained to her colleague beside her at my request. I like my nails shorter than others as my nails grow extremely fast in the summer. I play several outdoor sports during the summer which takes a beating on my feet, especially my heels. Although she used a pumice my feet remain extremely rough after I left. Foot and lower leg massage nearly non-existent so do not have high expectations. Lastly when painting my nails there were many swatches left on my skin. That I asked her to remove and was responded with attitude. When I looked up she was already placing a the top coat. For almost 10 years I have had a design on my larger toes. Although she did not ask if I wanted one as she was placing on the top coat I asked for a design and she looked at me and shrugged, when repeating that I would like a design she had to ask her colleague who was working on the customer beside me what I was asking. The end result was that no design was ever completed. She asked me if I wanted to remain in the chair or to move to the drying station with no slippers or protection on my feet (very unsanitary walking bare feet across public floors especially since my feet were just scrubbed). After I requested to speak to the owner while paying and was informed that I should have spoken up or asked for management. Despite my reports of a poor job and services I was not offered any compensation (which I was not asking for in payment) but for correction or at least to apply a design. I was informed that they do not ask customers if they would like a design or additional requests/thoughts as they do not like to up-sell. I personally like when my nail artists ask questions and how I like things done as it is a transparent service and to ensure that the customer is happy. Unfortunately this was not the case here as she barely spoke or understood English. Truly disappointed as it was one of the ones in the area that is large and had good reviews on Yelp. Please take this review into consideration if you are a seasoned receiver of pedicures as you know what you like and what you don't like. If you do go to this salon, don't be shy and speak up for what you like and watch them during the process (no relaxing as you may miss something) as they will never ask for feedback during the process. If you do try and relax and miss something it would be too late to ask for a correction as they will not offer a re-do once completed. Good luck! read more

Went in for a mani-pedi with my boyfriend the other day. They took us even though it was close to closing time. The girls who attended to us were very nice and were very accommodating (I hate to have my cuticles cut! They made sure not to when I asked). I left satisfied with my nails, although the massage was lacking I had an unfortunate interaction with the owners at the end that involved their cash only policy. There is no sign big enough indicating this is their policy, and the atm inside didn't actually work for me. My boyfriend had to walk to a bank down the street to actually get the cash. Well what can I say. Everything simply went off the rail. My girlfriend invites me to go to the spa with her. She calls and books reservations. We show up, it appears that her reservations were missing yet she scheduled her appt 2weeks in advance. My daughter had a manicure, and I had a Mani and pedi. The person that worked on me was very incompetent. I am going back to check if she had a licence and I am going to match the licence to her Id. I will be reporting this incident to health and safety board. After we were done, I informed the owner of the salon that my pedicure was poorly done and I am not happy. He failed to look at my feet, his reply was that we did what could be done. I looked at him and again informed him that I am unhappy with the service that I have received and won't be coming back. Since my girlfriend introduced me to the salon, she speaks with the owner who is a male and u can clearly see that he hates being told by a woman that he has done something wrong. He looks at her and says that she doesn't have to come back to his salon ever again too. My girlfriend was extremely upset at this point. I paid for the service with debit rather than cash to have proof. What happens after stunned me as a customer. The owner of the salon puts a hand on my back and tries to push me out. I look at him and in a firm voice say "did you just push me".. He then says no. . I look at him and again firmly stated that I am a paying customer, who happens to be not happy with the service, and he has no right to put a hand on me and push me out. A witness that happens to be my grade school friend stood next to me and watched it all happen. I go home and speak to my husband who informs me that we should press charges for assault. I called the salon and the owner hanged up on me three times. He said he was too busy to speak to me. I again informed him that this issue must be resolved now. After having him hang up on me numerous times my husband called and stated that he is coming back to get the refund. We will be reporting this incident to proper authorities and health and safety board. . The owners conduct was very unprofessional and degrating. He should be stripped of his licence. No one should feel the way I feel today. We live in Canada and cases like this should have no place here. Yes, I am a woman but a man has no right to violate my space. This owner had violate me today. I will be reporting him come first thing tomorrow morning. His salon should be shut down immediately!! read more

Went in yesterday for a routine weekly manicure. I've been reading new posts online for several different salons and this place seemed to have good reviews, so I decided to try it out. I entered the store and it wasn't very busy at all, so the ladies took me right away. The lady, Sandy, started working on my nails and was doing a lovely job with cuticle cutting. She even asked me if my nails were fine after she had filed them, which I don't usually get asked. Altogether nails were done properly, however she seemed to start rushing at the end of my session when the evening "rush" came in which I was very displeased about because my hand massage was rushed so she could get to another client. My nails looked fine after they dried so I figured I'd let the rushed massage slide this time. I then went to go pay for my service (in cash) and I was charged tax on top of the price that I was told for the manicure ($10.00). I'm not sure if I'm the first person to experience this at this salon, however I'm quite displeased about that because nowhere are the words "tax extra" listed in the store or on the price list brochure that they hand out. I had even asked the man I spoke to on the phone who I booked the appointment with the day before and he didn't mention anything about tax being extra. I mean, I don't mind paying it but at least make me aware that there's an extra charge! I'm currently on day 2 of my manicure, so I'm waiting to see how long my nails will last without them chipping. Had I only experienced one issue, I would have given the place a solid 4, however give that it was my first time there and I experienced two issues it's getting a 3-3.5. You'd think they would take that into consideration and make my visit unlike any other! read more
