The Beauty of High Point Scientific. Physics has always been my life. So much was happening in the world of astronomy that I also became interested in observational astronomy. With pad and pencil in hand, off I went to High Point Scientific. My list of questions would make any teacher run! For every question I asked, a clear answer was given, and as I digested the answer two more questions would arise. I remember saying to myself "I hope I run out of questions before he runs out of patience." Well, he didn't run out of patience, and all of my questions were answered. I remember that I didn't buy anything that day, having a lot of material to review. I also remember shaking hands and saying "I'm sorry for taking so much of your time" and being told "thank you for stoping by, and was told to "please call, any time, with any questions, that's what I'm here for." At this point, I really don't know how many scopes, eyepieces, etc. that I have bought and resold at High Point since that day, but I can assure you each time was a great experience. I think the best example I can give to illustrate the depth of commitment that High Point gives to their customers is the following: With all the beautiful images that are available on line or in scientific periodicals, I said maybe I should give astrophotography a try, knowing full well that my images could not compete with Hubble. Tele Vue had just announced there release of TV 60-is and as you can guess I had questions, lots of them. So I called Dave at High Point and he had every answer, except for one. I needed to know exactly what I needed to attach a Canon Rebel to the 60-is. Dave calmly said "Don't go away, let me call Tele Vue and see if Al (Owner/Founder of Tele Vue) is there. Dave said "I spoke to Al, he's at his desk and wants you to call. He would love to answer your questions". So I called Doc Nagler, and of course he answered my question which of course led to more questions. We spoke about scopes and other things as well. I remember his last remark to me "You know you can use this scope as an observational instrument as well". My response was probably too quick and deliberate "absolutely" proud of what I had learned over the years, thanks to resources like Dave and the team High Point. Yes I bought a 60-is, but my point is well made. I will always have questions, but more importantly, I always know where to get answers. That's the Beauty of High Point Scientific! read more

I purchased a used camera from High Point Scientific. Upon purchase I assumed that, as the camera was used and listed in other than new condition, it was an "as is" sale. When I got the camera it was missing a few small parts that are pretty important for using this camera. I first emailed High Point, then called and spoke to William Burns. William was very friendly and, while he made no promise of results, he did promise to do whatever he could. He asked me to email him with more information so he could find exactly what I needed. Will got my email the next morning. After contacting the manufacturer and even other retailers Will could not find the parts I need. He used the resources he had and got back to me just a few hours after getting those details. He let me know the steps he took t find the parts and the part numbers. He apologized for not being able to do more. In the end I used the part number he found for me and ordered the part from another retailer that is not in my country. For years I used to use an online astronomy retailer in Southern California as my goto vendor. The ownership of that vendor changed hands, Since that change of hands that vendor's customer service, the quality that made me their customer, seemed to be de-prioritized in favor of volume of sales. The staff that I had developed relationships with have found other employment. My experience is that when I communicated with the new staff, if they didn't have an answer that would yield a sale, would simply not respond, even after they assured me that they would. Then I found High Point Scientific and William Burns who spent a good deal of time working on my problem without a lot of concern for being able to make a sale. That kind of customer service, something of a lost art in this day, is what has mad a loyal customer of me. I can't say enough good stuff about Will Burns and High Point Scientific. I have received nothing but good support from both Robert and Dave that I have talked to online from both a Customer Service or Technical Assistance standpoint. When I was looking to purchase my first telescope in many many years and get back into this hobby once again, Robert was able to help me find exactly what I was looking for and helped me get some money of my first purchase from this company. The item shipped and got to me within 2 days with free shipping. When I decided to add some much needed accessories to my telescope, Dave was very helpful and answered all questions I had to make sure I was getting exactly what I needed. These items also shipped that day and got here in just 2 days again. When I called back to ask some questions about a concern I had with some weird noises coming from the head unit, Dave said not to worry that he would get a new one shipped out immediately and I could ship the old one back with free shipping. I did not even expect or ask for that but it was nice that a company would go there without even asking to make the customer happy. That does not happen much these days. I have been extremely happy with the support I have received and would shop here for all my newly revisited astronomy hobby needs. Great Company.....Unlimited Customer Service! I purchased a Celestron NexStar 8SE a few weeks before Christmas. I ended up calling High Point Scientific based on a recommendation from Celestron. High Point's staff spent over an hour on the phone with me discussing the pros and cons of each type of telescope. After I got off the phone I felt very confident in the guidance I had received. My new scope was shipped 4 hours after I placed the order and I had it the very next day. I was able to assemble the scope in under 20 minutes but I had some questions pertaining to the alignment of the telescope that prevented me from going out that night. The very next morning I contacted High Point and spoke with Dave. He spent another 30 minutes walking me through the alignment procedure and that night I had my new 8" computerized telescope out and the views were stunning! I have reached out to High Point a few times since and purchased some additional accessories, all of their recommendations have been spot on! It's rare to see such extensive customer service from an online company. In total I have probably spent over 2 hours on the phone with them since I purchased the scope in December. They are a great resource to the astronomy community and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new telescope! read more

Five stars is not enough for this company. I have never seen customer service so impressive! First of all, they've got an amazing variety of products to choose from, their shipping is incredibly fast, and I get orders literally the next day from them. But the most impressive thing about this company is their customer service! I sent an email to one of their non-commissioned advisors, and it was amazed at how long the detailed response was that I got! It included diagrams and everything! As well as explanations as to why certain accessories were selected. I went back and forth with Andrew numerous times , and have a really impressive setup now thanks to all of Andrew's recommendations, explanations, and diagrams. Their advisors truly want you to get the products that will do what you want, and they are very knowledgeable about their products as well. I am a lifelong customer now. These Guys Rock! I placed an order for a celestron advanced vx equatorial mount on High Point's website. An hour later I get a call from them where they proceeded to ask a series of questions about what I was mounting on the advanced vx and what I was going to be using it for. Turns out....the mount I purchased didn't have enough weight capacity for my 11" optical tube so I worked with them to find the right mount for my scope that also fit within my budget. In the world of online purchasing you rarely see such attentive service. It felt like I walked into the showroom myself and purchased it. By placing a simple follow up call those guys saved time, aggravation and money and they now have a customer for life. I live within driving distance to their store and hope to pay a visit soon. My Order # 100044996, placed on October 24, 2016 2:06:40 PM EDT. When I ordered my telescope, I read on your website - "This item is in stock and typically ships in 1 day or less". Today 10/29/2016. I paid for my order, it has been 5 days and you still haven't sent it to me. What is going on? You are cheating their customers? Administration of this site all week the Unit drew time and not expelled me my telescope. And when I started to write to them and complain, they shut down my order. They say that they cannot transfer the money from my credit card. But this is not true. This is a hoax. read more

Newbie here...looking to purchase a first 'serious beginner' telescope. The customer service and technical support personnel (David and Paul) were amazing! What led me to High Point Scientific was their customer reviews. Turns out they were right! My experience with these folks is they are long-time users of the products that they offer. They are knowledgeable with the topics and technologies and have a tremendous amount of patience with newbies. I had done a lot of research, had lots of questions, and they expertly answered all my questions, with additional information added to help me expand my knowledge in making my decision. I just completed an order for a Celestron 9.25 NexStar and a slew of accessories, and I could not be more pleased by the project range, the service, and the truly gold-standard customer service. But the star of this show was Chris Torres. I love that their salespeople are not commission based, and Chris has spent nearly two hours on the telephone with to ensure I got what I needed. I am returning to astronomy after a nearly three-decade hiatus, and he was endlessly patient and entirely helpful. He did not upsell me and even waved me off (honestly) on some items that would not be a good fit for me at this point. As a result, High Point has a customer for life. And Chris Torres is gold. High Point is wonderful. They have a comprehensive catalog of equipment for amateur astronomers at all levels of experience. Their non-commissioned technical support staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They respond very quickly and insightfully. They've helped me tremendously in assembling a pretty advanced astroimaging rig with deep sky, planetary and guiding cameras. Customer service staff have been equally helpful and responsive and have definitely made the best of the current supply chain problems associated with some equipment. This place has amazing customer support! After struggling with my telescope for the first week of owning it I decided to call High Point Scientific for help. My issue was that I could not get the scope to align properly. I explained my problem to them and they asked me to call back when I had the scope under the night and ready to use. I called back and spoke to Grant. He spent nearly 30 minutes walking me through the alignment process. He also showed me a few tricks to ensure the alignment was accurate. I have been interested in purchasing a new telescope for sometime. After doing my research I decided on the Meade LX90 12". High Point Scientific was one many companies listed as a dealer. The astrophotography hobby exploded over the last couple of years. Highpoint Scientific has consistently been my goto for equipment and questions. One time, I wasn't sure which filters to purchase and they had a specialist contact me about recommendations for my situation. Another time, they price matched a camera I was looking to purchase.
