Let me start off by saying that I never write Yelp reviews - but I cannot stop thinking about the amazing experience I just had. I walked into High Priestess knowing that I wanted a double forward helix with studs in my left ear. The "shop mom" is super sweet and took her time showing and describing my jewelry options to me. I'm not usually one for small talk, but she and I briefly exchanged piercing stories and bonded for a bit. Eventually I decided on a small, solid yellow gold disc and another solid gold stud with a clear gem. When I initially heard the price of the jewelry, I winced (Solid gold disk was $90, the gold post with gem $60); however, Rhea (shop mom) explained to me that they only sell jewelry that meets the industry's highest standards, and the pieces are designed and made to stay in my body forever (if I so choose to do that). Realizing that I would probably never want to change it, I decided that $150 for high quality jewelry that would stick with me for a lifetime was one hell of a deal. After completing my paperwork, Jim took me back to his piercing station and was immediately an extremely pleasant person with an equally calming presence. I laid back on a black cushioned chair while we chatted about our dogs and the upcoming heat wave. The piercings hurt just as much as any piercing should, but no more and only for a quick split second. It was a very comfortable experience that was over in less than a few minutes. Jim thoroughly explained exactly how to clean the piercings, which are in a rather tricky location on the ear, so I was grateful for the detailed tips. He shook my hand, and I grazed towards the front desk to pay. The piercing fee of $30 covered both piercings, and I opted to use the $5 coupon that you get when checking into the business on Yelp (net $25). In addition to the aforementioned jewelry, the total amount paid (before tip) was $175. They provided high quality salt (to make cleaning solution) and a detailed aftercare info packet. Refills of salt are free if I need it in the future, and they told me to stop in in 3-4 weeks for a checkup to make sure they're healing okay. I know that many reviews complain of this place being way too expensive, but let me say - I have been to many tattoo/piercing shops in my life, and I truly do believe that you get what you pay for. About 2 years ago now, I went to HP for a little rebellion piercing with a friend. We called ahead of time and walked-in before they closed. After they were done, without saying a word, the woman behind the counter turned around the screen and was charging me over $200 for ONE earring and the piercing experience. I was completely shocked, but since I hadn't gotten a piercing since I was a little kid, I got flustered, and blamed myself for not getting all the information about the price ahead of time. I quickly paid it and then left. My friend was also exorbitantly over-charged, and we rode in silence the whole way home, feeling extreme remorse and honestly embarrassment. The piercing got infected a couple times, and then a year later when it seemed healed, I went back because I couldn't get the earring out on my own. He quickly popped it off, and then once again, the woman at the desk turned around the screen quietly charging $15. "Seriously?? You're charging me for that?" She argued that they needed to pay their employees a living wage, and what am I supposed to say to that?? Another year has passed, and the piercing has gotten infected practically monthly. Today it got so swollen and infected that I finally took it out and I'm going to have to go to the hospital for antibiotics tomorrow. I've heard many stories since of people being ripped off at this place and finally decided to take it to the internet. read more

During the time that High Priestess was shut down because of covid, my daughter wanted her nose piercing changed. We went to another piercing shop in Springfield and will never do it again. It was a very unprofessional experience and we found out everything they did was wrong. Trevor at HP changed my daughters nose ring yesterday and did a phenomenal job. We explained what happened at the other place and he felt bad for my daughter and her experience. We will never go anywhere other than HP for any piercings or piercing changes. My daughter has to wait til she's 18 for anymore piercings, but she's hoping that he's still there when she goes! read more

I love this place and have gotten all three of my tattoos from artists here. First in 2015 I got an oxytocin molecule on my right arm by Anthony. That's my favorite one and I think the best work. The lines are extremely clean and precise, fading hasn't really happened (and it's been over a year) and I just think it turned out really really well. I'd recommend his work for anyone looking for fine line detailed black ink tattoos. My second tattoo was in 2015 with Reed. It's an owl in a tree on my left shoulder. I really love the design and Reed worked with me on altering the size to fit my idea of placement. He was very personable and friendly and did a really good job! This one has faded the most and I should probably get it touched up, but I don't think that's the artist's fault - more my placement choice. My third tattoo was in 2016 with Anthony again. It's the tree of life on my right shoulder. It's again really good quality work and probably my most complimented piece. Unfortunately it didn't heal very well in one spot and there was some raised scar tissue near the bottom of my tattoo for several months that is just now beginning to fade. I don't think this was the artist's fault and I don't know why it didn't heal perfectly as I took care of it the same as my other tattoos. It is not very noticeable and has only created minor fading in one small area of the design. Overall my experiences at High Priestess have been really good and I love the work that has been done for me. It's really scary and nerve-wracking getting a tattoo but the artists and staff have always been very professional. If I wasn't moving away I would definitely get more tattoos from High Priestess. This place is so close to campus and I think that's why so many students come here. they know that and jack up the prices wayyyy too high. it was $175 for a cartilage piercing. our piercer Amber was sweet but clearly inexperienced. she took way too long with each piercing and seemed like she didn't know how to put earrings in after being pierced. the person working at the front desk was wonderful, helped us with pricing and even gave us a bit of a discount. overall, i would go somewhere else and make the drive off campus. read more

I came here with my friends to get my second cartilage piercing. They were super accommodating of us asking lots of questions about pricing and jewelry even though it was crowded. Sebastian was patient and answered all of our questions! Brody was the one who did our piercing and he was so funny, professional, and quick! Got the back of my arms inked before summer by the lovely and talented Rest. I wanted two large traditional style roses done and he took the time to sketch and sketch until they looked perfect. His laid back attitude and excellent music choice made my first tattoo experience quick and pleasant. He even allowed my boyfriend to come in during the 2 hour session... By the end I swear they were best friends. Both roses healed beautifully for being so large and still look rich and colorful. I went with my friend and had my navel and cartilage pierced here. They were super quick, kind, and helpful. It was a new lady that did our piercings and she was very professional and made the experience quick and relatively painless. My navel swelled more than expected so I came back a few days later, as the top ball was sinking and it was painful. They changed out the jewelry for no cost and were super understanding about it. I just want to take a min to talk about me experience at high priestess/ best studio ever. Yesterday around 3 I came into town to get a dermal piercing under my eye. I thought they were doing walk in so I went to the location on 6th street were the woman greeted me at the door and said they are totally booked. She said if you go on line and fill out info and request a 15 min piercing slot and go to the campus location at 525 E 13th Ave Eugene OR 97401 Jenell can get you in right away. So I did just that. I went in she got me right in. I expressed exactly what I wanted and showed this girl Jenell Di Leonardo what I was looking for (piercing size wise and preferred diamond) she said ok and was quick to get me back and the piercing in. I thanked her gave her a 20 dollar tip and she said before I left leave the bandaid overnight. Today around 5pm I took the paid off as I was getting ready to get in the shower to go tanning as soon as I got in the shower I hadn't even touched my face yet (only to take bandaid off very carefully) I put shampoo in my hair leaned back to rinse it out and sure enough my piercing fell out I frantically freaked out I called my husband in the bathroom I said what do I do?!?! so I did what I guess anybody's natural instinct would be and I called The high priestess that I had received the piercing at. When I called them I shared with them what had happened! A woman named Sierra had answered the phone I said my piercing fell out I need to come in and get it fixed. She said "I'm sorry we're completely booked today we have no room for anybody!" I said so you're telling me that I just need to leave this piercing in my face and allow it to close up underneath my eye!?!? she said you can call a different location and see if they have anything available. I said can I please speak with Jenell the woman who did my piercing!!!!! she then hung the phone up on me I called back and nobody answered I called back again and nobody answered so I then googled places that do piercings near me. Area 51 showed up! I went in crying asking what I should do and if they can help me. Not only did they help calm me down but they were extremely helpful. A gentleman there pointed me in the direction of what to do and where to go. Needles to say this day ended with a trip to the hospital to get my piercing taken out of my face! They had to use a scalpel to slice my face open and remove it! After all that was over.... About 3 hours later I received a phone call from high priestess trying to cover their ass and backtrack what was said they said that Jenell would be willing to come in and fix the piercing I told them it's too late I was already shunned and told that I had to deal with it on my own. I called back several times and no one answered. She said I had people in here I was dealing with ( for 3 hours come on) I said no you could have at least called back and said I'm working on this hang tight. I said you hung up and I called you didn't answer and than you waited 3 HOURS before making contact with me. Last words that came from you were "we are booked I don't know what to tell you!) I looked on line btw and they had 15 app available! So booked how!?!? I am extremely disappointed in the way that I was taken care of I have never in my life experienced anything like this! They were quick to get me in when I wanted to get a piercing but when I needed to get it fixed I was left in the dark. I feel this is very very wrong and I am filling a complaint with the health licensing office. I'm so disappointed and I hope that you will consider these reviews before making a choice to go there. I not only had to go get my dermal surgically removed but I learned the dermal she put in was a belly button ring Wtf. So far they have refused to give me my money back. I will not be quiet about this. what they did was so wrong. I was in tears and they hung up on me said they couldn't help. How can you run a business like that. so unperfessional!!! read more

I'm sad that I'm even writing this. I have been going to HP for a few years now and today was the last time. This morning I came in looking for advice on an irritated piercing but instead I was pressured into new jewelry, shamed for my budget, and then had a very painful jewelry insertion. Jenell was not very kind and didn't prioritize my needs as a customer. I feel like the insertion process was not sanitary and the jewelry I was forced into picking came right from the case instead of a sterilized bag. I hope anyone who goes here has a better experience than me but I will not be going back. read more

I can't explain how welcome I felt! I went here yesterday around 9:30 pm ( they close at 10 pm ). Everyone I had talked to about getting a piercing told me to go here and I am happy I did! The lady at the front desk was very nice and super friendly! The shop was VERY clean which is a big factor for me. Even though they had been busy all day it was spotless. Seejay did my piercing and I felt so comfortable around him I would recommend going if this is your first piercing or even your 100th! He was very thorough and knows what he is doing, you can tell he has been doing this awhile. He made me laugh and did my piercing very quick! When I was leaving they made sure to give me a coupon for jewelry when I come in for my free check-up, which is awesome because most places don't really care much after you've paid them. They are very helpful and I know I can call or stop by anytime! Definitely coming back here and here only! read more

I came here back in May during their $10 piercing sale (price of jewelry not included) to get my tragus pierced. Having only had lobe piercings done before with a piercing gun, I was really nervous about getting a piercing done with a needle. Jim was very lighthearted and easygoing about the whole process. I was afraid that the needle was going to hurt a ton, especially since prior to coming here I did a lot of online research on tragus piercings and read that they can be extremely painful and prone to infection. But here my experience went well! Jim got the needle and the earring itself into my ear in a very short amount of time; it couldn't have been more than a few minutes, tops. I felt a sharp poke, but overall I think the healing process hurt more than the actual piercing process. At the end, the woman at the cash register gave me a bag of sea salt to soak my new piercing in. I used a Japanese rice bowl to put the warm salt water in, because it's the perfect size to fit up to my ear. My piercing was sore for about a week, but after that it got better. Four months later, my piercing looks healthy and I haven't had any signs of infection! I don't plan on removing the earring any time soon, but know that if I want to eventually switch the jewelry out for something different, I can come back here and they'll do it for me. FYI: If you come during their sale, be prepared to wait for at least an hour, or more. However, given the fact that the money made during this promotional sale goes towards sending their employees to APP conventions (Association of Professional Piercers), I trust this place more than I would any other place in town. I also love the fact that around Thanksgiving time, they usually do a $10 piercing sale to benefit homeless animals, such as the Northwest Dog Project in Eugene. If I'm going to get a piercing done, why not have the proceeds go towards helping animals in need?! read more

Prices were super high compared to a lot of places, went to get nipple piercings and when I got there I wasn't made to feel comfortable at all. It would have costed me 120$ to get one pierced with the basic pair of jewelry. I've been meaning to write a review for the High Priestess on 13th for a while now, but today I definitely knew I had to go home and do it. Now for any sort of body modifications or permanent body art obviously your first priorities are that the people know what they're doing and are professional (If those aren't your priorities then they should be). HP is just that. I've had a piercing done there, I've had jewelry switched out, I've been there to make sure things that are healing aren't going to fall off, and I've been there just to gawk at the beautiful jewelry. My boyfriend also had his tattoo done there. No matter what the instance, the people at HP go above and beyond just being professional and knowledgable. They are also so compassionate and friendly and understanding. They are everything you want someone who's a part of something as intimate as body modification or art to be. Just genuinely some of the greatest people I've ever met. There are so many experiences I could share with you about how awesome this place is, but you should really go in and check it out for yourself. Honestly, I recommend going in there just to get some good vibes every once in a while. High Priestess sets the standard on what businesses should be like. Got two piercings done here within a week and the service was impeccable both times! They will ask you what you want to get done and show you the jewelry that are available. Then you'll be asked to do some paperwork. Decent wait time. Glad that they have AC in the shop! Piercers Jim Sens did my daith and Alex Harrington did my conch. They were both extremely professional and super fun! Made sure I was comfortable and that there would be no surprises. Love that they encourage you to ask questions. A piercing at this location is $30, not including jewelry. I absolutely LOVE the selection of jewelry they have. We have nothig like this back at home in Hawaii. They have everything from steel/titanium, gold (14k/18k SOLID, nothing plated), glass, and other exotic materials (bone, wood, stone, etc.) They'll give you some non-iodized salt to take home to soak your piercing in. I had one tattoo and 4 piercings done here from 07-08. Every time I went in they treated me very well, even if they were busy. All staff was friendly, professional and helpful! Tattoo: My tattoo was small and on my hip. Placement was perfect, they took the simple necklace I wanted and did a sketch and soon a great tattoo! The artist was very gentle, professional, and very nice about the whole thing. It was my first tattoo and a fantastic experience. Price was completely reasonable! Piercings: I had several piercings and each one was done professionally, and without clamps. (Bad experience with the use of those.) Many of their staff are Association of Professional Piercers!! Every piercing I had through them healed very well, all my questions were answered without the "you're so dumb" attitude found at so many shops. Jim is HANDS DOWN the best piercer I have ever had, he's done my nostril, a septum, a gauged septum, two cartridge piercings and my frenulum. The jewelry was overpriced (I used to work in the industry and order it, so I know how much it costs) and the piercing was rushed.
