Go elsewhere... Buyer beware if purchasing a used vehicle from a dealership that doesn't represent the brand it's selling. Example; a Toyota dealer selling a Ford. Dealers taking a vehicle on trade that isn't their brand are most likely unaware of possible known or common issues of that vehicle. As a result they might take a vehicle on trade that could have known or common issues they may not be capable of discovering, if/when they do a pre-trade inspection. Why this matters? When they take a trade, they can pay too much for the trade because of not knowing repairs are required. Then when selling the trade ask more for the vehicle than its really worth because it might be in need of unknown repairs the dealer didn't catch. This leaves the buyer of the trade faced with expenses that should have been caught by the dealer at the time of taking the trade in the first place. This can cost thousands of dollars in parts and labour the selling dealer won't cover because the buyer drove the truck off the lot without buying some form of third party warranty. This is what happened to me. I worked with High River Toyota on the purchase of a used 2018 F150 they took on trade. I asked if the dealer would provide any short term warranty 30-60 days on the vehicle if I bought it. I was told no and that all used vehicles go through a vigorous inspection, if there were any significant issues, they would have been found before certifying the vehicle as fit for re-sale. If I wanted further assurance I should consider purchasing an add on warranty. Based on this the dealer has protected themselves...but is it ethical? Between 1000-1500km after driving the vehicle off the lot various noises became evident. A Ford dealership advised the truck need $7,300.00 in repairs. This was for Cam Timing Phasers and Integrated Wheel Ends. Turns out these are common issues on the F150 but the Toyota dealership missed these items during their inspection. So not it's my problem. The bottom line is High River Toyota paid more for the used truck they took on trade than they should have, asked for and sold the truck for more than they should have. They wouldn't cover all of the cost for repairs either. So in the end I now own a used Ford I bought at High River Toyota worth $7,300.00 less than I paid for it and I need to put money into the truck so its mechanically sound and reliable. It didn't seem reasonable for me to shoulder 100% of this cost, but as a show of my own accountability I offered to split the cost for the repairs by getting the work done and showing the invoice to High River Toyota for 50% reimbursement. This offer was declined by High River Toyota. Instead they offered $1,200.00, which was better than nothing, but is all of this fair and ethical? As a side note the used vehicle listing posted by High River Toyota overstated the options the vehicle had I managed to catch and negotiate on these prior to buying but again...buyer beware. Knowing what I know now I would never buy a used vehicle from a dealer taken on trade that is different from the brand they sell. Don't trust any used car inspections unless it is done by a third party you pay for before buying the vehicle. I do not recommend buying a used vehicle from High River Toyota. read more

Bad dealership! First of all they want your insurance info even tho you pay for the car outright. Second, i had a very slow leak on a tire (suspect it was that way from the dealership since it was within a couple of weeks that i noticed) so i contacted them and they cant help me because I didn't purchase extended warranty. Thirdly my 12 volt battery died and when I recharged it again the multimedia was stuck on 'enter password' even tho it wasn't set yet by me. Called HR Toyota and shop supervisor said they cant help me cause i don't have extended coverage. So i had it restored by another dealership under regular Toyota warranty. These people either don't know what they're doing or are just outright grifters. NOT worth the drive! read more

If you are looking for professional this is not the place. I made an appointment to see a particular van. I arrived on time. Fransic the salesman pulls up in the van to let me know (he was passing the buck to) the lot guy did not put gas in the van (for which Fransic had 4 hours to check prior to me coming). So, Fransic, rather than get the lot guy go get the gas (after passing the buck off on him). Went himself. He was gone for 25 minutes. When he returned he had not only gone for gas I guess he had to shop for his groceries, as he had a grocery bag with him as well, when he finally returned. I guess there was paperwork to do, that he could have had someone else take care of while he was shopping rather than waste all my time waiting for some kind of professional behavior (did not happen). When Fransic informed me he had to waste even more of my time to do paperwork I turned off the ignition. Fransic informed me I did not have to turn it off. Since it was already off I just got out of the van and left the key in the ignition. Wen I get home I get a call from the manager telling me I had to return their keys to the van, because Fransic did not check the ignition. Just went crying to his manager, Fransic gives the excuse he found the keys under something, (yes he passed the buck off on me for taking the key). I did not get an apology from either Fransic or the Manager. Then I get this Fransic text to me a couple days later to see if I wanted to book a different time. read more

bought a used GMC at highriver toyota . horrible experience. salesman was lazy , couldn't provide me with right bill of sale for insurance, he thought he sold me a Toyota tacoma lol and after the oik change they couldn't even re set the service engine light . I live in Alberta and the car came without any floor mats . When I asked salesman about floor mats he told me to go to Canadian tire . I will never go back to highriver toyota and after buying the car and telling others , I heard many negative stories about this dealership . Beware !! read more

If timely communications, "important" recalls being repaired, and contracted vehicle servicing being scheduled and completed are important to you, pick another dealership because High River Toyota will be a series of back to back failures and they will not care in the slightest. I was advised that my vehicle had a recalled part that, when I was speaking to the Toyota advisor about urgency, I was told it was "important". High River Toyota are committed to covering my vehicle servicing appointments as well as a part of my purchase agreement, and my vehicle was also coming up on a regular servicing time so I attempted to contact them to arrange both. Numerous attempts to contact the service department over several days all resulted in no one being available to take the call. On those attempts being unsuccessful I was put through to a voicemail, and a week later there had still been no efforts by anyone at High River Toyota to contact me. I then sent a message to them via their website messaging tool. The following day I was sent an email reply and I felt that finally the challenges were over and this would be dealt with. High River Toyota has a program to pay for day use of a courtesy car while your car is picked up then later dropped off after servicing. I was assured by a "Platinum Service Advisor" that my vehicle would be picked up and the courtesy car dropped off at 7pm that Wednesday. Keeping true to their standard of service, no one arrived and no one phoned at any point that day or night. I emailed the same advisor and he offered to pay for my servicing, clearly not even bothering to spend the couple minutes to assess the situation he had, and see that my service appointments are already paid for. I emailed the same advisor back and arrangements were once again made to have the courtesy car dropped off and mine picked up the following Monday. By this point my vehicle was well over 1000 additional km past its required service deadline. On the Monday someone actually did come and pick up my vehicle, however contrary to the arrangements, they locked up the courtesy car and took the key with them. When I was done work for the day and there was still no sign of my vehicle, and the locked courtesy car remained secure in my work parking lot, I again emailed the same "Platinum" Service Advisor who told me that the driver with my vehicle was "leaving here ASAP". I did a phone map check and it showed the drive to be approximately 45 minutes. An hour later I received a phone call from the drop-off driver advising that he was just leaving High River Toyota and would be with me in 40 minutes. I emailed the same advisor back and, once again keeping with their standard of communications, did not get a reply. I guess he got to leave work on time, rather than 2 hours after work ended for the day like myself. So, if you don't mind being ignored, having important recalls not dealt with in a timely manner, and if you enjoy getting the run-around repeatedly with zero concerns on the part of your car dealership...maybe then High River Toyota would be the place for you. I remain loyal to the Toyota brand, but fortunately there are plenty of dealerships willing to actually earn your business. read more

I thought I had re-found my dream dealership. I had dealt with them years ago, and was nothing but impressed. However, the past experience has left me disappointed after what felt like the new dating phenomenon, "ghosting". I had gone in to meet with a lovely dealer. I thought we had the beginnings to what felt like a beautiful, long term car dealer-buyer relationship. She was sweet, engaging, interested in my life, and seemed very helpful. She helped me find a car that was perfectly in my price range and was very honest with me. But then, came the financing. I was sent away, with the promise that I would be able to put money down on the car I was looking at so not to lose the deal, but then was told I did not need to bother. I waited for days for someone to get back to me. Finally, over the holidays, a financer sent me a message, which he eventually finally responded to my first voice call, but never did respond again to my texts. When I made contact with the original dealer, who failed to follow up with me and check in to see how things were going, I found out the car had sold. No phone call. No priorities to me, who had sent in all my information in an attempt to get financing. Nothing. So, the lesson here folks, is, unless you have the money to purchase right then and there, really, they are not interested in your business. They really do not want to try to help you. Its a business. No personal skills required here apparently if you work in finance. They don't care. Instead of dumping you, they choose to "ghost" you when they are no longer interested in being a part of your life. Sad. Sad because I thought I had found a beautiful new "relationship" with a dealer I could trust. I wish she had even taken the time to call me to follow up and let me down instead of keeping me on a string of hope, awaiting a phone call from some dude that probably had no intention to ever call really. That really wasn't fair to do to this single mother of two who was scrimping and saving every nickel so she could put a down payment down at a moments notice. Sad because customer service for people in lower incomes, or struggling single women, has flown out the window. I can handle a "no", believe me. I am used to it. But to have been "ghosted" "ignored", forgotten about? Sad. So very sad. read more

We had a good and bad experience with High River Toyota. The Good. They have the best prices on new Toyota Vehicles compared to the rest of Southern Alberta. There is no BS at all they show you the best price and they deliver on it. Not a whole lot of upselling on the actual new car we purchased. They just explained the differences between the types we were looking at. The Bad. Once you know what you've bought they try to upsell you to no end for a multitude of things you don't need and of course all the items they are trying to upsell you on are more expensive then if you went elsewhere. In our case we had bought a specific liner for our car that was never installed. We tried contacting the sales team on a number of occasions to get it but they were adamant the item was already in the car when we took possession. At least it was only an inexpensive item so it could have been much worse. They offered us a free credit towards oil changes to make up for the inconvenience. Sales Staff. The manager was great to work with. Really great. Everything was simple and laid out. The rest of the staff didn't treat us so kindly. Unsure why but that was our perception. read more

The operations manager was decent however if your salesmen had half a wit then they should have handled the situation better; don't keep lying and arguing to cover ones' ass and why the hell is that truck still on your website (I repeat) Bunch of liars in HR Toyota sales department!! Worse than the average typical car salesmen. If you were sincere in your efforts to improve customer service then you should be honest about what you offer for vehicles. It's not like that truck sold today, it was a month ago. Pretty dishonest and unethical to lure people out to your lot after being told the truck is there in a pitiful attempt to sell something else. Business must be bad for HR Toyota. Not worry I will be buying from your competition and making sure I tell everyone in HR, Okotoks and Calgary what kinda dealership you are. If my staff lied like the staff at your business I'd fire them instantly and the fact that the idiot salemans argued and lied and argued some more with us was terrible! You must be busy checking websites for poor reviews, maybe more energy should be spent training your staff to do their jobs correctly and ethically. read more

Last week when we had the first major winter storm, I had to travel to High River and ended up getting my car serviced at High River Toyota. Spoke to Simon in the service department and he was kind enough to get my car ready by the time I came back for lunch. To top it off they also washed my car. That has never happened to me at my regular Calgary dealership that I take both my vehicles regularly. I was really impressed and from now on whenever I am visiting the area which is usually every month for my rental home visit, I will make sure that if I have any car servicing then my repairs are done at High River Toyota. Service department is very friendly helpful and efficient. They discreetly installed a long distance remote start for my wife and kids as a birthday gift. Told they enjoyed doing it. Have done service on our 2018 highlander since we got. Service even helped me find the body shop they use to repair the parking lot damage left as a gift in a nearly vacant lot 3 weeks after we got it. They did a great job as well. Overall, my confidence in their maintenance department is less then high. I might even say it's insufficient. Perhaps it was bad luck and bruised egos, but they failed to properly balance my wheels twice. Here's the storey... On the first occasion I called after my first trip at highway speeds ( two days after the service) and let them know that I suspected a weight was thrown off during the tire rotation, as part of a regular maintenance service. My car was vibrating slightly at highway speeds after it was in their shop for service that included tire rotation.. Unfortunately I suggested they fix it during the next oil change, as I wasn't planning on using the car very much on the highway that summer. At the next oil change they said a wheel weight was needed. But they charged me $$ to fix what I thought was their mistake. But whatever, it was running smoothly again. The $$ was no biggie, but I documented all of the wheel weights with my camera phone at that point. I noticed that the weights they added were four times as fat as the weights that came with the wheels. Next time around it was due for another scheduled tire rotation. I paid my bill and whend out to my car and took pictures of all the wheel weights. Comparing with the old photos I could see the tires were moved back to front. I started driving and a click-scrape sound started right away. Sure enough the fat weights were scraping my front brake calliper - they just cleared the rear callipers when that wheel was on the rear. Not wanting to drive a shaky car (or worse) for 8000 km again I didn't leave their parking lot. I let them diagnose the sound. They promptly swapped out their old weights for new low profile ones. All was well. But then a couple of km of highway speed and the car was shaking that sad and familiar way. I went back when it was convenient for my schedule and they fixed it free of charge, but not without reminding me again and again that it was no charge to me. What was a problem with just a mechanic in the shop, seemed to expand into a problem with the staff out front as well - instead of offering me something for saving them the trouble repairing my brake calliper, they tried to make me feel guilty. post script: there is lug nut adapter needed for my lug nuts. I keep it in the back with my spare. They forgot to return it to the back after the last rebalance, but they delivered it to my home a few days later. read more

WORST PLACE TO BUY A USED VEHICLE!!!! Stay in the city to buy a Toyota, these guys put a bad reputation to the Toyota name. I recent just bought a used Tacoma, ask them to install a lift on it and a new set of rims. I was told the rims would arrived 2 weeks after I put down the deposit. When the rims did arrived, they called me on Monday and said the truck would be ready for pick up on Tuesday. I told them Wednesday is best for me. When I was getting ready to head down there on Wednesday, they told me something was needed to be changed on the truck because of the new tires. SO THEY COULDN'T FIGURE THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG ON TUESDAY????? So the pick up time was postponed till THURSDAY! Total waste of my time. ... And when I finally got there on Thursday to pick the car up, I had an appointment at 12pm because I have work at 2. Got there at 12 AND THE TRUCK WASNT EVEN DONE GETTING DETAILED!!!!!!! Waited for 1 useless hour just to see the truck. And when I did see the truck, THE EFFIN DRIVER'S TAILLIGHT WAS CRACKED!!!!!! Did they even inspect the car before putting it on sale???? And the windshield chips that THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO FIX WASNT EVEN FIXED!!!!!!! They replaced a dented bumper but didn't EVEN BOTHER to fix a small dent on the side panel that was caused from the accident!!!!! And worst thing, I checked the truck's fluids when I got home and THEY WERE ALL LOWER THAN THE "LOW" LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAD TO DRIVE BACK THERE 4 DAYS AFTER I PAID FOR THE TRUCK JUST SO THEY COULD FIX THE THINGS THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE FIX BEFORE!!!!!!! I didn't receive any discount or what so ever!! I only got "sorrys" but sorry isn't going to pay for all of the WASTED hours driving here and the WASTED gas I used up to get there. STAY IN THE CITY TO BUY A TOYOTA, THIS PLACE IS A SHAME!!!! I called 1 week ahead to get an idea on trade in value of my car. They gave me an approx value which I said was good for me.I told them over the phone it was a US vehicle and gave them the mileage in MILES. When I arrived( 1 hr from my home to their lot) there was a piece of paper on the desk with my details written on it. It was clearly marked MILES beside the mileage. For the next 45 mins I test drove and looked at a certain 55,000 dollar vehicle. During this time an appraisal was done on my vehicle and they gave me what I wanted for it. We signed papers and even paid the 2500 dollar deposit. Done deal,right? Wrong! Suddenly they figured out the odometer and guages are in miles. Now they wanted $9000 more! I said I would give $3000 more since it was a mistake( remember they had all info for a week) but still a good deal. The manager wouldn't budge. I made a rash decision(after almost 3 hrs there) and signed for a cheaper similar vehicle only to find out when I got home that it was a rental! They never showed me the carproof while I was there. Now they had me overpaying for a RENTAL at a gently used price. Terrible experience and I will tell everyone to avoid read more
