This place is super adorable. It has the vibes of the 1980s and 1990s which I love. They have food and they even make their own pizza! A large gaming selection and very friendly staff. We come here every weekend! We love this place. I consider it one of the best duckpin bowling alleys around. Clean, friendly, and COVID compliant. You can purchase by game or by the hour. They sanitize the balls after each group leaves and enforce mask wearing. The staff is always super nice. There is food and drink (beer & liquor included) in case you get hungry or thirsty, check photos for the full menu. They generally put people every other lane unless it gets busy. Ended up here when my kids asked to go bowling. That is when I realized the duckpin place in newington was closed. Sad. Anyways, this place was small but very popular. There is a small game area for kids and a full bar and menu to order from with a robot that delivers the food. Everyone was getting a kick out of the robot. There are lanes with and without bumpers. Hello! Welcome to the winter cold! I had the pleasure of visiting Highland Bowl last Saturday with my 9 year old nephew....He and I spend Saturdays together very often. We both agreed to try a few games of duck pin bowling and to play some arcade games. We had the best time! By the time we left we had played games, had a great hot dog, popcorn, and french fries. He beat me one game of bowling and I won one. So funny... We felt like we were visiting family the whole time. Each of the staff and the chef gave us great attention and interesting conversation. We shared bowling stories, home made pizza recipes and had fun helping my nephew pick out the fun toys he won from the arcade tickets. It is a historical place, Fun to be at. It allows you to relax for awhile and forget about the outside world of stress and cold weather. I went duckpin bowling for the first time this weekend and had a blast. I'd been candlepin bowling when I went to school in Boston, but liked this a lot better. Prices for bowling and food/drinks were very reasonable (under $4 beers!). The curly fries were awesome. The snack stand was a bit spotty in that they were out of a lot of the drinks they had listed, so it would be nice if it were better stocked. Also, we were obligated to use bumpers (not that I don't need them), because rather than using retractable bumpers, they have these giant hoses in the gutters that I guess are not removable, and there were no other lanes available. Otherwise, the bathroom was certainly clean enough and the rest of the decor was certainly on par with your average bowling alley. Nothing gorgeous, but definitely nothing gross or sketchy. This place is loads of fun. I heard about duck pin bowling growing up but never went till like 3-4 years ago. A friend of mine was like let's take the girls and I'm always up for something new. And what also nice is their cafe on site does such good food you can make an advocate event of it. The only time I've ever been disappointed was when we did my daughter birthday party there. Like I think 12 kids not very busy they were shoved onto 2 lanes and were only able to bowl to about frame 6 before it was time to do cake. They should have potentially had one more lane but none of the kids really noticed. It's what the package was for. We've been back many times since and plan on hitting disco ducks this evening. The overall experience was fine except the woman at the counter felt the need to scold my 60 year old mother for bringing in a half drunken bottle of water (it was literally 95 degrees out and we were just coming from a bike ride). Had it been up to me I would have left and gone elsewhere. Been going here since I was a little girl. Had many good memories here. I try to take my son here many times when they say they will be open. We go and they are not open. Very disappointing and this has had twice after I call and say will you be open on this day. Then we finally go with some friends and it literally took them 20 minutes to get to us. The old lady behind the counter was helping people with food and refused to come over and help us. There was one kid there that could help but she wouldn't let him do anything, I think she is an awful micro manager. I was here today to get a gift card. I literally waited patiently for 15 minutes for them to help me. But again the old lady was helping with the food again. The people in line felt bad for me and said go help that lady but she said no she can wait you are first. Then another man came up to me asking if I needed help and I said I needed a gift card. So he said she needs to do that. So he went up to her and she said really she came in today for a gift card? (Wow great customer service) so I continued to bite my tongue and waited. Then finally someone came out and he told me he had no more gift cards left and he wouldn't have anymore till September. I suggested writing something down because I was literally on the way to a party to give this gift to the kid. But no he refused to do that. Seriously? It's April he can't get gift cards/certificates till September. When I was in staples last week they have gift certificates right there for sale for like $5. Get a clue and stop being. Lazy. Rude staff. Posted a review and the owner bashed the reviews telling me "I'm wrong" the service was bad. Couldn't work the score keeping machine and the staff was rude and didn't want to really help. Everything was out dated. Walking out of the establishment the workers in the hallway didn't even say have a good night but instead gave us dirty looks because they were hanging a sign up. OK, so I haven't bowled here since Ford was a president, but I can't let my childhood field of dreams be so savaged. Whipping those little balls down the lane at those little pins that never seemed to want to fall taught me all sorts of important lessons on perseverance and that 10 pin bowlers were slackers afraid of a real challenge. My wife, 7 year old daughter and myself went to Highland Bowl in Cheshire on Saturday 3/30/14. I was delighted to find a bowling alley near our home. This was great because we got to "attempt" to teach our daughter to bowl using the duckpin balls which are smaller. While we were trying to find a place to go we called Milford lanes and they wanted 60 dollars for the three of us to bowl which I found to be unreasonable. Highland Bowl was 20 dollars for the three of us and that included shoe rentals. We will defiantly return in the future. read more

We went on a Friday night and bowled for 2 hours with 5 adults and 2 little kids. Our final bill was under $100 and included shoes, some drinks, arcade games and the games. We bowled as a family (6 adults/3 kids) on a Monday night, which are typically reserved for leagues, but there were a few lanes free. The price is right - $7.50 to bowl one game including shoe rental! The place is really charming, there is a button to reset your pins and you type your score in for each frame. Lots of arcade games that you play using tokens that can be purchased at the desk (4 tokens for $1). There was one slightly harried woman working behind the counter who was wearing several different "hats" (admission, shoes, food) but she was very pleasant. The rest rooms were spotless, parking was scarce (but that could be due to league night), snacks were reasonably priced and the ambiance (music, noise level, etc) was family friendly. My family attended a party today at Highland Bowl in Cheshire, CT and to our surprise our two year old decided to take a walk down the lane. The woman in charge basically yelled at us at the top of her lungs in front of everyone which we were even more embarrassed about. We completely understood how dangerouse that was but the way she handled the situation, she was extremely unproffesional. For parents out there looking to book parties for the kids there are plenty of other choices for birthday parties that are more kid friendly and accomondating where you get your moneys worth. My husband and I decided to take our two year old bowling for the first time ever and Highland Bowl made it an awful first experience for us all. We paid 22.50$ for the three of us to bowl. When we got to the lanes, our son threw one ball and he decided he didn't want to do it anymore and started crying. As everyone is aware, when a two year old starts crying and doesn't want to bowl, you can't do much about it. We decided to go to the counter and ask for our money back so we could try to come back another day. The woman at the counter was very rude and refused to give us our money back even though we had only thrown one ball. 22.50$ out and a screaming toddler later, we left without having bowled a single frame. They were not accommodating for young children and didn't realize how a simple thing like reembursing our money would've made this day a little easier for us. This was the first time we've been out since our son was born and it was discouraging that my son wasn't cooperating and frustrating that he was having a tantrum , and it would've been a nice gesture to understand the struggle of having a toddler and to at least have been nice about the situatiom. This retro style duck pin bowling center should be a top pick for family fun. However, it's the last place I would patronize. A friend and I met there to bowl with our kids. We stopped at Dunkin donuts first and brought our coffees In and we were told that outside food was forbidden in the building and we were forced to throw them away. I purchased a cup of their coffee which was weak and tasteless. As I was waiting for the coffee I saw that the kitchen was dusty and the grill was a grime coated mess. I was also told that I was not allowed to chew gum as well. Mind you, I'm an adult. These people are so concerned about making every possible penny in their snack bar that they are willing to piss off people for it. With three small children of my own and many friends in that same category they could have easily made a few hundred dollars for kids birthday parties and family fun. However, based on their "penny wise and pound foolish" way they treat their customers I refuse. read more

The night before my wife and I were married, we rented 10 lanes at Highland Bowl and invited all our younger friends to come bowl with us, in lieu of a bachelor/bachelorette party. We had a blast. Todd was extremely helpful and flexible in arranging the details of the event and even called me the day before to make sure there weren't any last-minute changes and to check on his inventory of snacks and booze based on our predicted drink needs. He suggested the glow-in-the-dark bowling and music choices and really seemed to want us to have a great time. And we did. So much so that, although we had arranged for an 8:00 to 10:00 session, no one wanted to leave at 10:00. Todd was willing to keep things going for us (for a very reasonable additional charge) until everyone was done with their pitchers and games. We came for a birthday party that the owners granddaughter attended. After the party was long over a small group of close friends decided to bowl with the parents on one side and our kids on the other. The owners moved our kids' lane so that their grandchild could bowl too without being invited at all. Not only did they add her to our roster but no one, especially her mother paid any attention to the child at all. We didn't know the child at all and were responsible for her for over 45 minutes with no one even checking on her. We paid for our kids to bowl and had to our entire bonding time ruined by the owners who made us completely responsible for a child we had never really met. Her mother is probably still on her phone and the kid is probably still playing with total strangers! read more

This is a great bowling alley! Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food (delicious pizza made in house), and very clean. I had a party for about 45 people that was rained out and had to find an alternate indoor location to host everyone. With one day notice, Highland Bowl graciously accommodated us and we had a great time! They have great party packages that made it easy with one flat price per lane that included pizza, drinks, and shoe rental. The kids kept busy between the bowling, arcade games, and pizza. I highly recommend this very well-run establishment for either a large party or just a nice time with the family! read more

They do not walsh their hands and they had only one personal handling all of the cash, shoe rentals and food! They are also very rude!! They wouldn't allow pitchers of water for the kids and I had to wait in line a half hour just to get bottled waters! A little pricey compared to regular bowling, but this is me any my wife and my daughter's first time going duckpin bowling and it was an absolute blast. I didn't realize how challenging it would be until I got beat by my six-year-old. Great place for a date, or family fun.
