    Iced french vanilla latte

Local coffee shop right next to LSU. It is big and spacious with lots of small tables. I like the inside decor. Some people bring their dogs in and around the shop! There's only street parking by the shop. I got a large french vanilla latte and it was good with a caffeine booster! The girl working the register was super kind and helpful!

If you want a local coffee shop, you've found it here at Highland Coffees. Recent orders that I've had are lavender matcha latte, blended matcha, chai tea latte, and dirty vanilla chai tea latte (which means espresso was added). They've all tasted pretty good. They have a lot of different syrup flavors to customize your drinks. And they have pastries and bagels. The staff is very friendly and kind. The shop has a very chill vibe. Lots of locals, regulars, and students come here to chill, study, or chat. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The shop has a retail area to buy coffee, teas, mugs, and more. This will be a 4 start review instead of 5 because sometimes the service can be a bit slow. And some drinks are made in an area that is hidden from customers. Most coffee shops I've been to are typically completely transparent when making beverages. The shop could use a physical update and more modern look. Full transparency, the first time I went I did not like the iced almond latte or the pastry I ordered. It took me over a year to return but I've been back a few times and enjoyed it.

Highland Coffees has long served the LSU and Baton Rouge community from its location on Chimes Street at the North Gates of LSU. It is a local establishment that has everything one could want from a college coffee shop. There is plenty of room to work or rest while enjoying your beverages or snacks. There are easy chairs or tables, whichever suits your needs. There is also an outdoor seating area with a nicely planted arbor to enjoy if the weather permits. Also outdoors are plenty of places to park your bike. The facility possesses a nice wheelchair ramp for the mobility impaired. Highland Coffees roasts beans in-house, and therefore serves a variety of interesting blends on a rotating basis. Espresso drinks are also available, as are an impressive list of teas. Teas are also available iced, as are coffee beverages, for those times you want a cold drink. Lots of baked goods are also on offer, for when you you need some food. Coffee and related merchandise is also available for retail purchase if you want to enjoy a locally roasted variety at home. Service is always fast, as they are used to high volume. However, I think Highland Coffees is best enjoyed in a leisurely manner, kick back and take your time. Have a nice experience at this local gem.

Frozen caramel coffee with almond milk (blended)

vibes in here are 12/10. coffee quality is insane and there are SO many roast options. There's even all the teas you could imagine and baked goods that are home made. everything from tea to black coffee to a frozen caramel coffee is so freaking good if you like sweet coffee. This coffee has depth and the employees are always kind.

This place is so cute and awesome!! They had a little bit of everything on the menu, super yummy pastries, and super comfy inside and outside seating. The environment was great especially with how nice the staff is.

Pretty solid place. It's just off campus, its convenient for parking and seating, and the coffee is nice. I wouldn't say it is the highest quality coffee you can get in the area, but students are very lucky to have such a nice, cozy, good place like Highland Coffees to relax and study. For those who are wondering, it is more 2nd wave coffee than anything.

But one thing that is more true than the Bermuda triangle is the Baton Rouge Bridge Crossing traffic back up. It's like as inevitable and predictable as anything can be and I am getting to enjoy it firsthand today. Always a traffic accident always a lane closure. Now usually I do the farm market Road north of Baton Rouge to avoid it but today I needed to go this way. The I-10/I-12/110 Triangle maybe? And I knew that my first stop would be French Truck location. I wanted coffee for the rest of my trip as I am traveling with my brewing equipment. I sampled their Festin, and their single source, Kenya, and Ethiopia and I decided to get a bag of the Ethiopia because it has that profound blueberry flavor profile that I like in small doses, thinking it was be a perfect coffee to share with my friends in Florida. And now on to lunch at Mestizo. A wonderful staff and ambiance. Great coffee shop music. I will bet that if I waited long enough, Tame Impala would come on the sound system. Lol.

Despite not being a big coffee enthusiast, I have come to appreciate all they've brought to the table as a serious coffee destination. As a venue, it's a beautiful spot with a good amount of outdoor and indoor seating. Their creative use of branding with lots of yellow, distinctive fonts, and merch are displayed throughout the store, becoming a central theme of their decor. Coupled with natural lighting, plenty of seating, good WiFi and a cool display of their brewing process, it's evident they've taken big steps to ensure their venue is one of the least ordinary establishments in the city. They honed their craft in New Orleans and have managed to do the same here. Their New Orleans iced coffee was dark and potent, while their Japanese slow drip aka Oji drip iced coffee was pleasantly delightful. The cafe au lait is classic and a nice rendition compared to the many places that do the same throughout the state. The macchiato, cappuccinos, and americanos also deserve their own mention. Like any quality coffee place, they sell all kinds of different coffee brews by the bag both online and in store. They also sell food as well ranging from breakfast items to salads and sandwiches. Avocado toast seems to be a big hit here, but they have a wide range of open-faced toasts that includes smoked salmon, pimento and prosciutto. I am definitely eyeing their croissant sandwich for future visit. Prices are standard foodflation but I think the coffee and the ambiance will always be the central focus. They have a good amount of people on staff and therefore the waits are never too long. Customer services on point and the bathrooms are very clean. Parking is available in the back and there is limited street parking as well. With locations in Memphis as well as the OG in New Orleans, they should be very proud that they've done well in Baton Rouge.

They are conveniently located at the corner of Convention and Lafayette Streets, right by the beautiful Lafayette Park. They are by the Shaw Center for the Arts, and two quality hotels. They are near it all downtown! Coffee and teas are the main attraction of course. I love their lattes year round, and in summer there are the beautiful velvet ices and iced coffees. I like to check out the rotating specials, which often are interesting and different. Last time I visited they were featuring honey lavender drinks, which make a most excellent velvet ice. They always have some nice baked goods on hand, from savory to sweet. There are also some other nice snacks on hand. My personal favorite is the dark chocolate covered espresso beans! The interior is cozy, and has a great view of the outdoors. There is a small courtyard outside with outdoor tables, but I think if one wants to be outdoors the Shaw Center Courtyard or Lafayette Park are the places to be.
