I love this place. I trust the people here with my kids. The summer day camp is an excellent program and I am so thankful I had them this summer for my son. Their prices are very reasonable even if you are not a member but becoming a member is very inexpensive and totally worth it. My son enjoyed the summer day camp so much. It had great programs everyday that kept him so busy and they even gave him the courage to jump into the 4 feet at the pool and learn how to swim even better than he was before coming. When they had to discipline him, they were fair about it and respectful. I appreciated that very much especially since my son loves to get in trouble. ___ The gym aspect of the Highland YMCA is great too. Their Zumba classes are jam packed but so fun. The trainer kept the class moving and exciting. The schedule is full of group classes that I look forward to trying. They are going on all day and all night which is great for working people. Always friendly front desk staff that are ready to go above and beyond helping their guests!!!! I do love the Redlands Facility way more but living closer to the Highland one, I have grown to love them too. read more

Highland YMCA is ok. We've been members for a long time now. The employees are for the most part friendly and welcoming. Especially the lovely ladies that work in the children's room/ childcare center. This Y keeps rasing their membership price but with no changes. No new machines or anything to justify the price increases. As it's went up 3 times already. We even kept paying during covid even though it was closed. Pretty much donated our $$$ to them for over 3 months. Didn't even get a Y T shirt or anything lol. We love the YMCA's as we have been members since we were kids in San Diego ca and Los Angeles Ca. Our kids are Y babies from Downey Ca. We really thought we'd be members for life but I'm just not sure if we're going to keep our membership. As we pay full price and there are a lot of other gyms with lower prices. read more

The front desk staff was always very kind and helpful, which I truly appreciated. Unfortunately, my overall experience was still very disappointing. I was incorrectly charged full price for my son's sports class even though I qualified for a 50% financial assistance scholarship. I wasn't upset about the mistake I simply asked for a credit instead of a refund. I was repeatedly told the issue would be resolved, but after nearly three weeks of following up, nothing was done. Even after speaking directly with the director, who promised it would be fixed that same day, I never received the credit. To make matters worse, I registered my son for basketball because practices were listed as Thursdays, which worked with our schedule. The Monday night before the first practice, I received an email stating there had been an error and practices were now being moved to Tuesdays. This meant the change went into effect immediately, with families expected to attend practice the very next day, instead of the Thursday schedule we originally registered for. There was no phone call, no opportunity to adjust, and no consideration for families who had planned around the original schedule. After more unanswered calls and being told once again that everything had to go through the same director, I canceled my membership. While the staff was always friendly, the lack of communication, follow-through, and accountability from management was extremely disappointing. I love the Highland YMCA but their parking lot always has trash floating around, and they don't seem to repair things very well. The bathroom sink in the women's locker room has been out of service forever it seems and the kids club has a broken gate that I struggle with every time I bring my kids in. It just doesn't seem like its important to them. read more

My husband and I wanted to get a gym membership and were looking for a small gym that isn't crowded. We appreciated that the front desk staff told us we could pay month to month without needing to keep our credit card on file for automatic withdrawals. So we decided to pay for the first three months in advance, but when we went to pay for the next few months in advance again, we were informed that we now had to put our credit card on file. I asked to speak with the manager, who explained that this policy change was due to members not paying their monthly fees while continuing to work out. My concern is why the receptionist didn't stop those members when they scanned in or call them to inform them that they could not continue using the gym if their membership fees were unpaid. Unfortunately, the actions of those members have negatively impacted us who are willing to pay in advance. Sadly we had to cancel our membership since we don't like keeping our credit card on file especially a gym. read more

Friendly staff. I I'm in the water aerobics class and the instructor is fun and does a good job. I really enjoy it. The only complaint I have is the pool needs some attention. It isn't very clean. The tiles are gross and it just isn't very well kept up. They definitely use a lot of chlorine though! Otherwise I would give it 5 stars! read more

I used to be a member 10 years ago and just joined recently and wow the change. The pool is dirty, they allow horse play and balls being hit around with youngsters, endangering others. They say men are not allowed near the female bathrooms/dressing/showers and yet every time I go I see men passing right in front of the door, mind you the Y claims this door must stay open. There is an entrance on both sides so there's no need for males to go to the pool area through the female side. I don't know who is to blame for the decline of this establishment but the Y needs to do better. A man was sitting in the pool area today with his back towards the gym, mind you there is young girls who use the gym, I'm posting a picture of what we had to see and no body told this man anything. read more

This is a highland hidden gem! They have a gym, pool, child care, and a good amount of children's sports. Everyone is patient and helpful.

I love this location of the Y. I've been coming here for years (took a break during COVID and then during my pregnancy in 2022). They are always so friendly. The gym is always clean and maintained well. The kids club staff is very attentive, which is a big deal for me. You can see straight into the child care area while in the gym which is assuring as I can keep an eye on my kiddos while I work out. read more

This particular site and its pool life guards and upper level staff members are straight up racist! The life guard on duty during a swim lesson class for toddlers singled out a black mother who was pool side because she isn't comfortable being to far away from her 5 year old and often wipes the toddlers eyes with a towel when the water gets in the child's eyes when the child takes off the water goggles, the mother was told that she could not stand by the pool but must sit at the bleachers the mother was approached and told this despite the life guard bypassing another Hispanic mother who was also poolside,the life guard had to pass the Hispanic mother to tell the African American mother.All of this incident was captured on video.When brought to management this issue and the video they said a investigation would be had but yet the life guard still remains there.The life guard couldn't possibly explain why she would walk past a mother of the same ethnicity of her self to tell the African American woman that she couldn't stand pool side. read more

It's not even like a YMCA, I don't know what this is supposed to be but it's not like any Y I know. From the moment I walked in to sign up I should have known and just left. I wasn't greeted and was simply handed a paper to sit off by myself and sign up, all while listening to staff argue with an elderly Thai man who wanted a refund for his confusion about membership fees and they refused and made his very young granddaughter translate instead of simply refunding the measly $28 dollars ffs. It was disgraceful, and a manager was sitting in his office and offered no help and everyone could hear, they didn't try to deescalate at all. But for me, Nothing about membership or classes was explained but luckily I worked at a YMCA in Washington when I was in my 20s so I knew the basics. I then signed my up niece for 2 classes (ballet and kinder gym) and the woman helping me signed her up for the ballet class that already had started so I had to correct that, but I was still charged double. The ballet itself is...I have no words. The instructor doesn't greet her or me, she's not friendly, enthusiastic, nothing. Even typing this is causing me to have angry tears. After our very first class I cried the whole way home from intense disappointment. I just wanted my niece to have a good experience and it was horrible. She played music from her phone! with ads! and the ads could have said anything! and my niece did no ballet! She only ran back and forth the length of the drab, gray, poorly light "studio" doing nothing, so much so she was out of breath and her heart race increased so much she was holding her chest and needed water. She told her "leap, make a v with your feet" etc, but did not show her anything, she just stood there. She looked liked she'd rather be literally anywhere else, she looked miserable, and my niece is 3, you can't tell her things you have to show her. It's infuriating and I already know trying to cancel is going to be a nightmare. Don't waste your time, money, or child's delicate self esteem. I'm so beyond angry and disappointed. Do not go here for any reason. It's incomprehensible how they have any good reviews at all. read more

This is for the summer camp, we had such a bad experience I want to warn other parents. There was bullying going on against my kid, and even hitting. The director was told and we got a lot of promises but it didn't stop. They don't have any activities other than standing around on the grass for hours in the sun, swimming for a short time, or standing around in the gym with some basketballs. We left and out our kid in an amazing camp in another city, she is well behaved and she doesn't have to deal with kids who are brats. read more

The Y is a Great place to work out and stay in, or get in shape... I've wondered about the YMCA for years about the facilities etc but duh, I never visited until recently.. I got a guest pass for the Highland Branch and loved it.. I took Kettlebell Classes , Tai Chi Classes and worked out on the cardio machines... This place has more than most gyms and at a fraction of the cost !! This month, September 2018 they are waiving the sign up fee so I'm finally joining but instead of just the Highland Branch I'm joining in Redlands and will be a member of the East Valley YMCA which enables me to go to All 3 Y's, Redlands, Highland and San Bernardino.. 3 Fully Equipped gyms, including pools and many, many, many classes for One Low Price !!! .. Yep I recommend the Y if you're looking for a great but inexpensive gym !! read more

Came here to tour the facility for possible membership. The staff was very rude and very unhelpful. I was extremely disappointed. The moment I stepped inside, I wasn't even greeted. They wouldn't even show me around to see what they offer. Just referred me to the site about pricing and what they have. I brought my son, who is 2yrs old and stated they have nothing here for him despite seeing at least a playroom next to the facility. Honestly I felt discriminated against. I definitely would not recommend this facility. I'd probably have better service at 24-hour fitness! read more

I like this Y. They have a nice gym, a nice pool and our kids love going here for the summer for camp.

The people that work here are really nice, they greet you every time u come in and they are really helpful highly recommend coming here.

I'm landing on 3 stars purely because the staff is stellar. Not more because of some minor downsides. I was much happier with how I was greeted here than at the Redlands facility. I was shown around, and actually had a nice conversation about the place with someone. I was also informed HERE about the 7 day guest pass they offer. I did not end up coming back to use it but not for any bad marks against the facility, to be clear. It is clean, orderly, and comfortable. The staff are professional and friendly. I am looking for someplace with a pool however, and one that I can use a lot. This facility has an indoor pool but it is small and they only have one adult lap lane to set up, which of course would require you being the one that got there to ask for it first. I reviewed the pool schedule and it just won't work for me. The gym opens very early (5am) and the pool does not. The first thing that it's available for is classes. Open Swim times are 45 minute blocks most days, and only one per day. Large amounts of time are reserved for the Highland Sr Center. That's good for them, and bad for everyone else. The joining fee and the monthly fee are more than reasonable, and I applaud them for that. For any fee however, I can't be that limited on access to the pool. There are gyms where it is available 5am to midnight. It may cost a little more, but I have to consider the value not just the cost. :-/ Sorry YMCA... that just won't work for me. Thank you for treating me well on my short visit to the Highland facility though. You made me leave with a smile. read more

Attn: Mr. Parry Macady---I have been a member of the YMCA of San Bernardino, Ca., for over 1 year, I join so I could participate in the Acautic Swim classes, per my doctors suggestions. So far the pool has been out of commission about 5 or 6 times and just about each time due to the heat pump. I don't know why this keeps occurring over and over again. It happened again today, frankly I'm getting tired of the YMCA management not doing anything to rectify this reoccurring problem, we pay our good money and expect the pool to be in good swimming conditions. read more
