I have taken my three dogs to Dr. Blaicher for about two years and was extremely happy with Dr…read more Blaicher and his associate Dr. Zahn, they were truly a pleasure. BUT,what I can no longer tolerate is the terrible communication, and awful customer service from Susan, Dr. Blaicher's wife. Susan normally answers phones and has proven time and time again to be a colossal disappointment and source of frustration. The first time, I was called unexpectedly out of town and needed to get shots for one of my dogs to board. Susan almost refused to make an appt. for my dog because in her opinion, the dog would not have been vaccinated for enough days to satisfy a kennel's intake requirements. I reminded her that she didn't work at the kennel I was planning on boarding my dog, that I had been boarding my dogs at this particular kennel for over 20 years, and suggested that it would be up to the kennel, not her. She finally, begrudgingly gave me an appointment after I told her that I was going to get my dog the required shots to board either there, or somewhere else. The second time was when we had to put down our beloved dog of 14 years. Our dog had cancer for some time and we all knew (including the Blaicher's) that it would be a matter of time until we had to put him down. He was bleeding badly and aspirating blood when we called to see if we could bring him in to be euthanized. Susan answered the phone (again) and said that it was 4pm and they were only open until 5pm... And that Dr. Zahn (who was working that day) couldn't be reached because she was busy with patients. Susan suggested that we go to an Animal Emergency facility. How nice.... She wouldn't even ask the Doctor for us! The third (and last time) just happened. One of our dogs had a cut on her throat which she was constantly scratching and bleeding all over the house. I was concerned that this was a puncture and needed a stitch. I called and left a message at 8pm last night and asked if I could bring her in this morning. I received a call from Susan at 1:30 this afternoon... The office opened at 8am, and she returns my call at 1:30... When I told her that I was disappointed that she took so long to get back to me, she said that they were very busy, and that she had a hard time getting my phone number (even thought I clearly stated my name and number on the message). To think, three dogs under their care... THREE! and this is the kind of service I get? Just awful. They have definitely lost my business.

My dog got to a point where she could not stand up and she stopped eating so I called to get an appt for her to see the doctor. After calling three times on a Friday with no call back they finally let me bring her in. They took X-rays and saw that she really never had arthritis. Her bones looked very healthy. But they saw what looked like a mass in her abdomen. They gave her fluids sent her home and made an appt to have an ultrasound done on Monday. She was still unable to stand. They were not concerned at all. She passed away that night in her sleep. Took them til Tuesday to even have the receptionist acknowledge that she passed away. And she only called because I had left a message canceling her ultrasound I would not recommend this vet at all.

I have had 2 very positive experiences at Oldwick Animal Hospital. I went there first (a few weeks…read moreago), for a second opinion for my 10 year old Standard Poodle with a diagnosis of Salivary Mucocele (basically, leaky salivary glands). Our first visit was with Dr. John Heigerd, he spent over an hour with me explaining the problem and my options. He throughly reviewed all the previous medical records and blood work. Surgery would be an option and Dr. Heigerd suggested we make an apt. with Dr. Scavelli at Garden State Veterinary Associates in Tinton Falls. In addition to the salivary gland concern , G has a history of a problem with his legs, most likely an old neck injury. Throughout the past 5 years G has been on and off steroids for this problem. I wanted to give acupuncture a try in an effort to reduce the steroid use. We met w/ Dr. Kerry Scholz today, it was an excellent meeting. G is a pretty easy going dog so she was able to use quite a few needles, and I am hoping for good results. More importantly she took quite a bit of time to really explain and educate me regarding my options for G. We are going to work together on a plan so G can be as strong and as comfortable and as healthy as possible! In a world where everyone is in a rush and everyone is busy, I truly appreciate the TIME that BOTH Dr. Heigerd and Dr. Scholz spent with G and I !!! As a family, we have decided to move both of our dogs to this practice. I truly have never experienced the level of care and concern I saw in these two doctors! I highly recommend this practice!!!

When one of our dogs had an emergency and needed an operation. Having never been there before, they took our pup and performed the surgery, even staying late. The vets have all been great every time we go. But just recently we took our little 11 year old in, trying to figure out what was going on. We saw Dr Jan Cailles and she was wonderful! She took her time examining and had us return promptly when things progressed very rapidly. She listened to our concerns, worked with the options we were willing to use, and was there checking in, consoling us, giving necessary information, compassion and understanding tye entire time. We said goodbye to our baby and she helped in every way. Dr Jan understands how our pets are family and the connection that's shared. Our pup was her first concern. She was masterful and knowledgeable as well as comforting to us. She made an upsetting illness easier for us with her guidance and care. Our pup was very lucky to have her at the end of her life. She, and her staff were, once again, great. Highly recommend.

We've tried several trainers and boarding facilities in various cities and states. We even resorted to trying a famous YouTube trainer and he came back worse and even more anxious. Typically, these expensive "board and trains" we've participated in have ended with medication recommendations and a "good luck". One final trainer recommended we try Mind Of Dog because she also wasn't able to break through. I'm so grateful we did. He's thriving and comes home exhausted. An added bonus is the people training we've received. The best part of all of it, is that he's finally getting the exercise and structure he's always needed and deserves. They handle the dogs calmly, but with lots of structure and clear boundaries, which our dog desperately needs. We can finally go to work and travel without worrying that he's being mishandled or ignored. We're so grateful to have found this place and I have to admit, I was waiting for him to fail again, because we had lost all hope. I highly recommend that you give Mind Of Dog a shot, especially if you're in a similar position as we were. Thanks, Mind of Dog! Senna loves you all and is so grateful to be able to play with dogs without fear and anxiety.
